Stunning....Archeological museum built just for the satyr. Found by local fisherman. Pictures don't do the statue justice. The workmanship is exquisite, the story is fantastic. Hopefully one day they find the rest of the statue, the rest of the elephant, and everything else that went with it. See for yourself. Just a huge WOW!!
Outstanding experience & there is a great video as well showing & explaining all the background stories. 👍
Couldn't see the video due to too many people from a tour group and no seats, but I heard it is good. Lovely statue. Small museum with some other archeological items
Interesting museum but just to see the statue of the satyr and how it was found.
Quite extraordinary. Watch the video in the cinema when you go.
Thought there was more to see, for a €8 enterance fee. All there was one piece of satire with 5 pots, rest were photographs. Wouldn't recommend.
The backstory behind the dancing story, how he was found and how they fixed him and put him together, is very interesting. If you are visiting, I would recommend to watch the short film in the museum, so you can get a full picture.
Five Stars only for the “Dancing Satyr”. It’s the only thing you are going to see…

Beautiful baroque church … Although, very rude students sending the tickets .. not only in this church, but also in others in the town..bought 2 tickets at the same time, tickets were supposed to be valid in all churches in town 🤷🏾‍♀️ in the next church the girl told us (very poor English..) that one ticket is valid and the other is not so we can’t go inside. She couln’t explain why, did not answer the questions .. 🤷🏾‍♀️ quite dissapointing….
We were lucky enough to be present for the celebration of the Madonna del Paradiso and were allowed to enter this baroque style cathedral. Just stunning.
Magnificent church with altar from 1093 that had been closed for ca 140 years before it was reopened in 2007. Thanks to the wonderful church caretaker who told us about the church by chance!
Impressive decorations baroque-roccoco Well maintained Nice people offering information
A really beautiful church the art and sculptures are really amazing, as well as the explanation behind it.

Totally worth a visit when you are in Mazzara, to the left from the entrance there is an exhibition of Pietro Consagra works! 💜
This is a beautiful old building that is in the process of being restored. With small museum displays and art gallery, this truly is the best value in the historical center at zero cost. The miniture display of old buildings is my favorite! A beautiful building with s history of learning that is a must.
It’s the busy fishing port that gave Mazara del Vallo a place on the map and unless you spend a few languid hours poking around the old fleet of colourful trawlers clogging the harbour, you’ll never get the true feel of Mazara’s trapped-in-a-time-wrap atmosphere. Yes, each activity here seems to be an endeavour that happened a century ago: check out the lively and noisy fish market where the daily night catch is displayed on the pier at the crack of dawn. Fish, alive and kicking make the last attempt at freedom; clams, half-open close their shells on touch while crawling octopuses struggle to hole up from view. The language you hear is itself an oddity: a mix of Sicilian dialect and Tunisian Arabic, nowhere else spoken or understood. But Mazara is much more than a mere fishing port and a fish market. The old town boasts a good number of interesting relics and architectural gems, some of which date back to the Arabic and subsequent Norman colonization era of the city. These are for the most part concentrated around the remodelled Norman Duomo and the neighbouring Piazza del Plebiscito. On this graceful square, right in front of the Museo del Satiro stands what is perhaps the finest specimen of a medieval building in Mazara. This is the former Jesuit College, a palatial 15th-century building that saw generations of students attending lectures and holing in for the night in one of the institution’s dormitories. Meticulously restored, the building is now a showcase of medieval Sicilian Baroque where permanent exhibitions of excavated material rub shoulders with religious artifacts collected from various churches and private homes in the city. On entering the doorway, itself an exhibition piece of elaborate bas-reliefs sculpted out artistically in the masonry, one is confronted by a gem of a courtyard renovated to its original finesse and distinctive details. Fringed by a graceful porticoed passageway, it is swathed in lacy Baroque decor, the capitals at the head of the supporting columns being graced with Old Testament scenes carved out of the stonework. Take the steps to the first-floor loggia where on a clear day, the decorative stonework becomes bathed in golden sunlight turning the building into a monumental sculpture gallery. One corner room on the ground floor (left as you enter) should on no account be missed. It is a storehouse of engravings, paintings, ceramics, drawings and statuary created by Sicily’s best artists. Every item on show is well captioned in Italian and English. Nearby, also on Piazza del Plebiscito stands the ruined Church of Sant’Ignazio, a small rotunda that lost its cupola and most of its mural decor ages ago. But the unique design of the building and the collection of surviving artifacts (some wall frescoes, free-standing pilasters, two altarpieces and lots of marble) render it one of Mazara’s top attractions.
Statue was beautiful, but 6 euros just to see this???! And the staff could put on a smile...
(Translated by Google) It is almost impossible to approach the Museum of the Dancing Satyr and not see this imposing and elegant baroque facade with a portal that invites you to browse inside and ... SURPRISE!!! In unusual times for the restoration after the collapses of the building (former Jesuit college, now passed to public management) one can once again savor the severe geometry of the internal courtyard and discover, under the portico of the front opposite that of the main entrance , access to an exhibition that is, in fact, SURPRISING! The repertoire of models, the result of the miniaturistic ability of the master Ignazio Auguanno, commendable for his passion and competence and for his dedication to the "small" promotion of the architectural beauties of Mazara, is condensed into a series of environments, finally made available to him by city administration. And it is a succession of glimpses, views, angles, perspectives of the most beautiful and interesting both from an architectural and historical point of view that is available in the "real" panorama of Mazara del Vallo which is then, as in most Italian cities , mainly belonging to the religious heritage. And therefore churches from the most ancient, compact and minute to the largest, majestic and baroque rendered with a perfect imitation in scale of the materials, the colours, the individual architectural details up to the skilful modeling of railings, railings and metal grates. As I stated above, it is a journey condensed into three rooms and a corridor containing, I believe, almost all the heritage of churches, convents and bishoprics available in Mazara, made even more vivid by the passionate presence of maestro Augustano who willingly lends himself to accompany us on this mini-tour of Mazara, giving us historical information, anecdotes and the discovery of details (to us!) unknown and which we would not have known or been able to grasp from a "real life" visit to every single building represented, both for the expenditure of time necessary for the mandatory presence of an expert guide available for several days. Cultivating this type of activity is an opportunity to be seized, not only for curiosity and tourist interest, but also from an informative and educational point of view, alas! and alas!, with little hope of seeing his passion, technique, skill and, above all, methodology passed down. In fact, these miniaturistic masterpieces were created by simply parameterizing heights and lengths according to the most ancient but still effective method - and you can see and touch the results! – geometry of the similar triangles of Thales' theorems, without any use of specialist instruments although available today: such as simple spacers or laser-meters, or metric levels and stadia, or optical theodolites, then digital and geo-referenced, or the photo- survey and photo-restitution, or even radar and 3D laser-scanner with graphic restitution in computer-supported drawings, etc. . Promoting and publicizing this type of activity, and this one in particular, does not only constitute a dutiful homage and heartfelt recognition to the master Ignazio Auguanno but corresponds to the re-appropriation of the real as opposed to the virtual, to the recovery of artisan manual skill as opposed to digital and IT automatism (which I certainly do not intend to underestimate or worse demonize!) as an experiential and growth factor, of acquisition of skills and competences otherwise not verified in reality... with benefit for many, if not for all! Improving its visibility, lighting and communication, giving it a pseudo-museum character, would not constitute material help to maestro Auguanno but an investment for the implementation of the tourist attraction of Mazara and the full emancipation of one of the so-called "poor arts" or "popular" increasingly sought after in the definition of modern museum itineraries. With the hope that this invitation of mine will be accepted by the local administration!

My wife and I have recently returned to Ireland from Mazara Del Vello in Sicily. Every day we drove to Lungomare Fata Morgana, where there is a great selection of Lido’s. Having tried a good selection of Lido’s – there is no doubt in our mind that Caiman Beach excels above and beyond the rest. There are good reasons for this – spacing between the beds is ample. The security is very good – the life guards watching entry and sea. The toilets are by far the cleanest we used. But what we loved the most is that this is a family business that is run and staffed by the friendliest and most welcoming bunch of people we have ever met. On top of that – everyday there are the chefs’ special dishes alongside their menu which the staff made every effort to explain to us in English/Italian 😊. These specialties were delicious and served to us with real knives and forks and the nice option of having a real glasses for beer and wine. Grazie Mille to Giovani, Emanuele and Alessio and everyone else for making our holiday in Mazara del Vella very very special. Tutti Bene – Miguel and Helena.
One of the best lidos in Mazara! Not only is the water and beach area very clear, the food selection is incredible and the staff are friendly. One of the only beaches with SUP available. Would highly recommend!
Incredible hospitality of everyone working there. Felt welcomed from the first second. Family business, good people, good coffee, good vibe, grazie mille ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The best lido in Mazara del Vallo and cleanest stretch of the beach! You’ll enjoy friendly service from Emmanuele and his team, great drinks, reggae tunes and classic Sicilian snacks. 10/10

We had such a wonderful experience with Alicia, our English speaking guide and thoroughly enjoyed her guided tour. The wine tasting at the end was very enjoyable as they have some excellent wines worth experiencing. We would definitely recommend Gorghi Tondi to anyone who is interested in quality wines and how they are produced organically. Thank you Alicia for your excellent tour.
Amazing experience at this gorgeous winery. Chiara our tour guide was great and answered all our questions. The wine tasting experience was amazing and the staff was so welcoming and accommodating despite we were a large group. Highly recommended
We attended a wine tasting and tour and had a brilliant time. The gentleman showing us around (apologies we forgot his name - Giovanni?) was very informative and friendly. He spoke perfect English which was a pleasant bonus. Excellent value for money and a beautiful place. We bought several wines and have enjoyed them each night of our holiday
We got a spontaneous appointment for visiting the winery today thanks to Alessias quick reponse via mail. Arriving at the besutiful location, we had tasty wine and learned about the winery, the living and wine cultivation in Sicily in a very personal and heart-warming way. Thanks Alessia for the wonderful experience and priceless recommendations
Had a wonderful tour by a very enthusiastic lady who spoke passionately about the wine and the history of the estate. She guided us as beginners very well with how we should smell and taste. A fantastic experience, something you must experience when you are in Italy. We thought we were going with a group, but we had it all to ourselves. How nice! Due to the heat today, she took us in a van so we didn't have to walk. Very happy with this experience, I would recommend everyone to stop here for a tour and information about the management of the estate.
We really enjoyed the tour at this beautiful winery. The guide Claudia showed us everything important and we learned alot about wine making. We also got to try some good wines. The only problem was to get here as there are almost no taxis in the city of Mazara del Vallo. But we were lucky and got some help.
A fantastic winery with people that believe in what they do. You can see the connection they have with the nature around them and the extent they go to embrace and express it. Gorghi Tondi is definitely worth taking the time to go and visit. I highly recommend a tour of the winery and doing a tasting. It is very informative and only increases your appreciation for the wines they create and how they do so.
This 4th generation owned winery is located on a natural reserve. It was short but very informative. We also had the pleasure of tasting various wines from their production line. A great experience

Great beach with crystal clear water and a very nice cycle path running through it.
Water is super beautiful but very cold 🥶
Very good for kids, shallow clean water. Good services for decent prices.
In October everything was closed. Clean beach, friendly weather. In the city all facility needed.
Love this place, very enjoyable to stay with family very near with the villa where we stayed
We went two days after a thunderstorm so the beach and sea wasn't very nice but the water was clean apart from seaweed
This was a real suprise in finding this place when we was driving.. we stopped and spent 5 hours on the beach lovely soft sand and very clear sea water.. No problem just stopping and parking car and going to the beach for a swim.
Its just an ordinary beach that its notvmot really the particular on these place.but people interested to come..all were welcome

(Translated by Google) Without a shadow of a doubt, the most beautiful church in Mazara. Incredible in its Arbo/Norman architectural perfection. Unfortunately, like all the churches in this beautiful but neglected town, it is closed and no one can tell you more than approximately the opening hours. The Church is the Church and does what it wants. A TRUE SHAME.

The ''church without a roof'' is a touristic spot you have to visit. Porous soft stone used to build this church made it's cupola crush under it's weight around 1933. To see the sky through a vertical walls of oval floorplan is an amazing opportunity for any architectural lover, specially if you are into baroque.
(Translated by Google) The ruins of the Church of Sant'Ignazio of Mazara del Vallo are all that remains of the ancient Jesuit construction, built in 1701 on the remains of a palace of the Mazara nobles Adamo. Today only the baroque façade in carved stone survives, but that is enough to imagine a glorious past. The sacred building collapsed in 1933. In the last thirty years of its existence it served as a Cathedral, then it was closed to worship and transformed into a room for council meetings, a cinema and a venue for electoral rallies.

The façade survives, although unsafe, in carved stone, in Baroque style. The twin bell towers were also demolished for safety, following the bombings of 1943. Note that on the internal walls and columns there are copious bullet scars, all directed from the outside (on the square) towards the inside!! Da notare che sui muri interni e le colonne sono presenti copiose cicatrici di proiettili, tutti direzionati dall'esterno (sulla piazza) verso l'interno!!

Great seafood options for a reasonable price. Highly recommended!
We will never return! The team (our waiter in particular) was not professional at all. Our waiter was aggressive with a 70-year-old man, shouting at him to leave the place in front of the other guests, ruining everyone else's dinner and experience too!We were all shocked by the way he handled a complaint about a pizza that arrived late and a fruit platter request, which was on the menu but apparently impossible to order because it was Saturday night!? It all looked like a joke but turned into a nightmare with the guest crying and almost a fight!I am really sorry because the food was good, but when unprofessional and uneducated people are hired, that's what happens! Customer service and passion for people and food are the keys to this job! Please avoid this place if you want to have a great night and not a nightmare!
Great restaurant Everything excellent Recommended
Great food but service could have been a bit faster!
Tbh not the best pizza I had, service was not great either.
Best food at best prices.
