The Museum of the Dancing Satyr in Mazara del Vallo is home to a significant archaeological find, the bronze statue known as the Dancing Satyr. Discovered by a local fishing boat in 1998 at a depth of 500 meters in the Strait of Sicily, this statue is believed to be sculpted by Greek artist Praxiteles. The museum also houses various other archaeological finds related to Roman civilization, such as coins, weapons, amphorae, and inscriptions.
Stunning....Archeological museum built just for the satyr. Found by local fisherman. Pictures don't do the statue justice. The workmanship is exquisite, the story is fantastic. Hopefully one day they find the rest of the statue, the rest of the elephant, and everything else that went with it. See for yourself. Just a huge WOW!!

Outstanding experience & there is a great video as well showing & explaining all the background stories. 👍
Imola D — Google review
Couldn't see the video due to too many people from a tour group and no seats, but I heard it is good. Lovely statue. Small museum with some other archeological items

Interesting museum but just to see the statue of the satyr and how it was found.
Roberto R — Google review
Quite extraordinary. Watch the video in the cinema when you go.
Paul P — Google review
Thought there was more to see, for a €8 enterance fee. All there was one piece of satire with 5 pots, rest were photographs. Wouldn't recommend.
Narges H — Google review
The backstory behind the dancing story, how he was found and how they fixed him and put him together, is very interesting. If you are visiting, I would recommend to watch the short film in the museum, so you can get a full picture.

Historical landmark
Kasbah Mazara Del Vallo is a historic area with narrow streets and Arab-style architecture, creating a lively atmosphere. The old fish market and small shops offering local products and trinkets are popular attractions. This Islamic quarter is known for its structure of small streets typical of Arab medinas. It's revitalized by the Tunisian community, giving it a vibrant feel reminiscent of Tunisian towns.
Kasbah Mazara Del Vallo smells history I loved every single detail the art of the walls the artistic door and drawing.. the happy sunny and welcoming people. I will go again and recommend everyone to visit this small and beautiful city. The sea side is also a not miss thing to do there. Beautiful baroque church … Although, very rude students sending the tickets .. not only in this church, but also in others in the town..bought 2 tickets at the same time, tickets were supposed to be valid in all churches in town 🤷🏾‍♀️ in the next church the girl told us (very poor English..) that one ticket is valid and the other is not so we can’t go inside. She couln’t explain why, did not answer the questions .. 🤷🏾‍♀️ quite dissapointing….

Great restaurant: food and service over the top!! Price is high but I would not call it expensive since the quality is very good! Service really good: we were with our 3 month old daughter and the waitress asked politely all the other customers to smoke in a different area away from us! Very touching!

When we arrived, an gentle waitress brought us to our sit and explain us how everything worked (you need to Scan the menù). Me, and other two people, ordered "menù fisso di pesce" that comprends : appetizer, First portion, second portion , lemon ice cream and coffee. The others who were with us all ordered different things, someone ordered pasta, someone meat.. at first the appetizer came, until, while everyone got served and finished their food already , we had to wait 1 full hour. When we told them we wanted to eat because the others already finished, everything came in a rush. The food tasted like super market one. I had an horrible experience, and i hope it won't happen again to others.

Mazara prawns is what brought us to Mazara del Vallo. Altavilla Ristorante will be bringing us back. This restaurant is conveniently located near the beach and main tourist attractions. The experience left us feeling that we were dining at the Ritz. The attention to detail was outstanding. The staff were very attentive to all our needs, friendly and highly professional. The time had come, we got to sample the famous gambero rosso (red prawns), crudo (raw) and cotto (cooked). They were absolutely worth the drive from Palermo. Rich creamy flavours that simply melted in our mouths. The rest of the seafood that we tried in this establishment was equally enjoyable. Extremely fresh, delectable and what we considered to be great value for the style and setting of the restaurant. Highly recommended.

Excellent food, best Tiramisu out of Treviso, top service, very classy restaurant, Michelin Star's level. Shame that they played music in a place nearby and in the square at the same time, which was a little confusing.

Lovely experience well worth a 5 star rating. Food was beautifully cooked and prepared with slight twists on local fresh cuisine. Totally reasonable price for top quality food! The location was amazing in front of the beautiful cathedral/palace and set just off the street in a way that was ideal for eating yet also for enjoying the surrounding atmosphere! The owner(Mr G, grazie ancora!) who was more than informative on the plates cooked was omnipresent and warm, yet kept a professional distance! Fantastic experience all in all-highly reccomended! If yere on the fence this is a safe bet for little cost.

Vlad P — Google review
Hard to find but well worth the search, this is one of my top fish experiences ever. A former fish market building on the banks of the Mazara dotted with fishing boats, and a chef, Bartolomeo Marmoreo, from a family of fishermen. The 35 Euro 7 course tasting menu is incredibly varied and good. Mazzara is not on all people's travel plans, but I would drive 2 or 3 hours off my plannned path to experience THIS. Add a wide choice of wines by the glass and you have a winner. The tasting menu first course is a platter of raw seafood, imcluding salmon, ricciola, giant red shrimp, pink shrimps, gray shrimp, scampo, sea urchin, oyster and anchovy. Needless to say, freshly caught. Then comes a triple course of tenderrst octopus in citrus sauce, fish fillet on a sweet and sour bed of caramelized onions, and sarda beccafico. At the same time (I wish they had waited a bit, but anyhow, this is a detail) a platter of fried seafood the likes of which I have never tasted, with filleted sardines, tender calamari slices and, wonder of wonders, tiny tiny shrimp that you can eat whole, dozens of them, coated with an almost nonexistent coating and tasting divine. Thse are called fanali because they live deep in the sea and are luminescent. Before cooking they are transparent. At this point we hardly have any room left, but here comes the pasta, For me spaghetti with octopus, for CM it was busiate with red shrimp. Service is super attentive and very pleasant. Magnifico.

American restaurant
I have resided in Sicily for a duration of three years while serving in the Navy, and during that time, I have had the opportunity to sample various "American" burgers available on the island. However, American Burger stands out as the most exceptional option and leaves me regretful for not having visited earlier. The proprietors consistently strive to ensure customer satisfaction by diligently working and attending to everyone's needs. Their homemade hot sauce is unparalleled and is even offered for sale.
Delicious pane e pianelle. Offers a broad selection of typical sicilian street food dishes

(Translated by Google) Let's start our review by talking first of all about a place that is atypical for our area, but at the same time interesting for the type of cuisine offered. We were welcomed into the restaurant with kindness by both the owner and his collaborator. The place is small but welcoming, as soon as we entered we immediately noticed the counter well stocked with burgers ready to be cooked, the various menus with their prices and a challenge which we will talk about later. Since the place was quite crowded and small, the only table available for four people was near the bathroom door, as the passage to access it was quite narrow and did not allow for a convenient and comfortable seat. Subsequently, after choosing the hamburger and the side of chips, the waiting times were quite quick, each of us ordered a different type of sandwich, testing not only the flavor of the meat but also the different type of cooking and taste . One of the sandwiches we appreciated most was "The Moster", a sandwich with 2 150g pork burgers, bacon, a fried egg, sweet and sour onion (which broke up the monotony of the meat), a few lettuce leaves and the tomato. The meat was well cooked, juicy and soft at the right point, the well-plated bread is slightly crunchy. Another sandwich that caught our attention was certainly the one with wild boar meat, mushrooms, cheddar and onion. Having finished dinner, satisfied and above all with full bellies, we went to the cash register to pay the bill. During the usual chat we have with the owners who describe to us the passion and professionalism they put into what they do (but above all the owner made us understand that to make a good sandwich you don't just need good meat but also good bread both in taste but also in appearance, because "the eye also wants its part"), we noticed that on a noticeboard near the cash register there was an announcement of a timed challenge, where those who participated had to eat a truly delicious hamburger. large with many layers of meat plus chips, one “man vs food” style challenge, intrigued by this announcement the owner invited us to come back to try it, maybe in the future we will try it why not…. In conclusion, as regards the food, the quality of the meat and the service offered and the clearly visible prices, we absolutely recommend this place if you want to spend an evening in Mazara del Vallo with a nice group of friends. Follow us on Instagram! (Translated by Google) I went in the middle of the week for lunch. I really appreciate the sincerity and honesty of the owner. He warned us that we would have to wait 20 minutes for the risotto because he cooked it from scratch (very good because it means that he doesn't have those risottos ready to reheat). Even about the famous red prawns of Mazara del Vallo he was very honest, telling us that unfortunately he only had second category prawns (in size of course) and not first category (still very good but slightly smaller and less expensive). As for the menu, it remains rich even for lunch during the week, without however coming across reheated stuff. The quality of everything I ate was high. The busiate at Fao37 were very good and the fry was tender and fried in new oil (not at all heavy). Spectacular prawns as they say. The bill for 2 people, 2 first courses + 2 second courses + water, cola and coffee = €74 This doesn't shock me given the freshness of the fish and the professionalism. I recommend it if you want to treat yourself to a good dinner without risking tourist packages. The place is also worth it. In a nautical style and with attention to detail. I also appreciated the photos of the fishermen on the walls (Original) Io sono andato in piena settimana per pranzo. Gamberoni spettacolari come dicono.
