The apartment we stayed in was even nicer in real life than the pictures showed. We were very happy about our stay, and the staff was very service-oriented and accommodating to our needs. We could check in a little bit earlier than usual, and also leave our luggage for some hours after checking out, while we were strolling around in the old town before taking out bus back to Helsinki. Thank you for a wonderful comfortable stay!
Charming bed and breakfast spot in Porvoo. A shame we only stayed one night but the accomodations were cozy and inviting. The room we stayed in had a kitchen as well as a spacious living room. The living room had a nice view of the river. It was in the center of the town and easily accessible to the old and newer areas of Povoo. This would be a nice place for summer trip with the family.
Very cute B&B along the river in Porvoo, Finland. I stayed in the Star Room, which is a bit separated from the main property. Owner knocked on the door as I arrived. He apparently also owns the nearby restaurant Ranta-aitta, which had its commissary and bathrooms across from the property. Be aware this property and its windows all face an alley that will have fairly heavy foot traffic in the afternoon/evening hours because of the restaurant. I immediately drew all the blinds when I entered the unit. Other than that privacy inconvenience, the location is fantastic, right on the main strip of the old town of Porvoo. Inside the unit you have a nicely functional kitchen and washer/dryer (which I used and was very convenient). There's two bathrooms, one with a shower and one without. Shower is a bit small and confining, but solid. The chairs in the kitchen were not super comfortable and the wifi didn't reach the bedroom very well, so if you need to do something online for a decent amount of time the unit isn't the most ergonomic solution for this situation. There is a piano in the unit! I did not play or know if it was actually encouraged but it's something to consider. There is access to a sauna that's across the street from the main property, which I used. Its heat doesn't get much higher than 60-70ºC but with plentiful water you can get enough steam for a good sweat. Breakfast was solid.
We (two adults) stayed at Ida-Maria in Jan/2021 for two nights in ”Pieni huoneisto, puutarhanäkymä”. The room was lovely, cozy and clean. Delicious breakfast and very good service! All of this in the heart of Porvoo Old Town. Would absolutely recommend to anyone.
Beautiful river view from our bedroom. Fantastic breakfast in the red historic houses on the river. We had a great time, thank you!
If you like old-fashioned Finnish places, this is just perfect. Nice clean place to stay. Excellent service.
Everything is pretty good here! Only the pillow is a bit uncomfortable. But the location is great. My favorite is breakfast and sauna. Definitely recommended.
Peaceful place to stay overnight in the old city center, simple yet very good breakfast, small garden where you can eat breakfast and enjoy blossoming plants.

This small 13th-century cathedral was originally made of wood before stone walls were added by 1420.

One of the best Cathedrals in Finland. Really enjoyed the time and peaceful environment there. The numbers on the wall, I didn't get it, was that roman chapters/verse numbers from Bible? I don't know but the place was extremely peaceful and very historical. I'd recommend this for any tourist visiting Porvoo city in Finland.
Located in the heart of Porvoo, this small cathedral features simple architecture and a calm atmosphere. The second floor is closed to visitors, yet the main hall still feels welcoming. At the entrance you can pick up postcards and other souvenirs, selecting the design or author you like, with an offer of your choice. I suggest visiting at least once.
Built in the 15th century with some parts from the 13th century, this is a small church in a quaint town with lots of history. If you're staying in Helsinki, I'm not sure it's worth the drive, but I am glad I went and got to see Porvoo.
A great 13th century rustic cathedral serving both the locsl Sw3dish and Finnisjh communities, with a commanding view of the surrounding settlement in Porvoo, about an hr from Helsinki central, overlooking a nice small river
The five stars are mostly for the great lecture we got from one of the volunteers. The lecture/tour seems to happen every hour or so at request. Strongly recommend doing it as it reveals so many interesting aspects of this historic building.
The church was probably finished in 1418, altough this is speculative. Making in One of the nations oldest, located in the heart of Old Porvoo.
Was closed for renovations, but outside was fantastic
Quaint church on top of a hill. Built in the 15th century with some parts from the 13th century. The church is small. There's a small table with souvenirs on the honor system.

Good prices! Also, good quality products and delicious cholates! We bought many sweets for gifts! I recomend it!
I shouldn't go here because I always find something to buy. Their chocolate and licorice are very tasty and good.
Very delicious, the mousse inside the chocolate is very special.
This chocolate shop sits right in the center of Porvoo and showcases the town’s own local brand. Inside you will find a huge range of options, from single bars to large mixed boxes perfect for gifts. The variety makes it easy to pick up something for yourself or bring a few treats home for friends. A must-stop for chocolate lovers visiting Porvoo.
Awesome chocolate products. Some pralines you can taste before you purchase any, which is great! Always crowded and busy but that's fine.
Delicious chocolate store with lots of samples and gluten free, lactose free, sugar free vegan chocolate
Nice chocolate shop. Very old. Not too big. But nothing is too big in Porvoo. Quiet village. Prices standard for northern countries (little bit expensive).
Better than promised. Wide variety of delicious and smooth chocolate. Orange is wonderful.

Lovely garden. Very nice guides. Worth it!
Very small, like 3 rooms. Interesting but not worth the price
The staff here is incredibly warm! They gave us brief info about Runenberg, his family and house. While leaving we asked about one exhibit and they explained it to us. The living room was decorated for Christmas! We liked all rooms except the room with killed foxes... For vegans it's very hard to see and enjoy. From giftshop we got nice Runenberg cake magnet and baking form. Thank you!
I visited Old Porvoo and decided I wanted to visit also at least one museum. Runeberg’s house seemed like a good choice. The museum is maintained pretty well, both indoors but also outside, the garden. The entrance is free if you have a museum card or are under 18, otherwise 8/6€. The staff is very friendly and polite. If you’re interested they give you a small tour with pretty interesting facts about the Runeberg family. The staff speak Finnish, Swedish and English. And maybe even more languages. At the room next to the register there is an interactive space, where both kids and adults can have fun. You can take photos pretending to drink tea, set up the table and lots more. Hint: buy some of their coffee. The flavor is great and it also makes a great gift. A huge thanks to the staff for the lovely visit.
The house was a fast visit since we arrived there 15 minutes before closing time. I have Museum Card so I was able to visit with no fee so I walked it around. There would have been a binder where no read about the place more but I decided just to look around. The Fledrika's historical (free) garden was beautiful and had a lot of different species.
Beautiful place with interesting history. They give you a guide book at entrance which contains all the information you need. The entrance fee is 8 euros for adults and 6 euros for students or pensioners.
When you are visiting Porvoo and you have spare time (while waiting for your bus back to Helsinki), the place that you should visit. There are two Runeberg museums: Finland's national Poet, Johan L. Runeberg (Father) and a famous sculptor Walter Runeberg (Son). I paid the entrance fee for 8€ for both museums and spent 40 mins in total. The museum is very near the city square and the regional bus stop.
Good, although brief experience. Interesting look into the life of Finland's national poet in his home that's maintained in its original state.

An ok museum. Very small, and really not worth the high €12 entry fee!
Nice place and very friendly people. Good to know a bit the history of the town but if you talk with the workers you get to know a lot more about it. One of the houses is the Pisa Tower of Porvoo - at the time it was built one of the sides started sinking. 😁 Because of that you can see twisted door frames and doors cut to fit the twisted frame.
Film The Jackal 1997 🤗🤗😃😃😃😃😃😀😀😀
A fascinating glimpse into the 18th century life.
Small but interesting museum.

There's no actual castle here anymore. It's a nature park where you can walk around the spots where the walls used to be. It offers a panoramic view on the river and Porvoo town. Relaxing vibe and well kept trails.
It is a castle hill on the edge of Porvoo; no ruins remain, yet the wooded slope offers peaceful trails and pretty views. Bicycles are forbidden to protect the fragile environment, so plan on walking and soaking in the quiet nature. Although there is little architecture to explore, the setting is beautiful and worth a short visit if you enjoy gentle hikes surrounded by Finnish greenery.
A historical site with beautifull views of old Porvoo and lots of paths to walk. A hidden gem to experience when visiting Porvoo with which to contrast the other site seeing, especially in the summer. This place brings a different view of how amazing and old the history of this town is as well as offering a beautifull sampling of Finnish nature that has inspired great artists like Albert Edelfelt.
A historical scenery place with a fabulous view. Great Linnamäki in Porvoo. Located in Old Porvoo or slightly outside of it. Easy to access by foot, but not very suitable for physically disabled. The paths are sandy and winding with narrow wooden bridges. There are benches to rest and enjoy the breathtaking scenery. A famous spot is marked by a sign telling it's the pine and view of Porvoo that the Finnish artist, Albert Edelfelt, painted.
A beautiful view of the city from here. Not much to see in the location but interesting historical information about the place and people who lived there.
Lovely view to Porvoo! Beautiful in the late afternoon on a sunny autumn day - lots of colours complementing the pretty old town below.
Beautiful place to enjoy the nature and just at few meters from the town centre. It haves some trails were you can walk and enjoy the views of Porvoo and the river and it's soroundings. It's very peaceful and there are some bridges to get at the top of the hill.
The forest is not big, suitable for walking and enjoying nature

A delightful trip down memory lane! This doll museum is truly worth visiting — beautifully curated with antique toys and dolls that reminded me of my own childhood. A nostalgic and heartwarming experience.
A lovely place for kids...not much for adults except for rekindling nostalgic memories :) You will not regret the 4 euro entrance fee... :)
Very sweet museum and one of the highlights of our stay. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth checking out. I was drawn to the older pieces of the collection, and how delicate they were. Some of them felt that they might disintegrate if I looked at them too intensely.
Blast from the past!!! So nostalgic to see popular toys from yesteryear.
Its a Dream place where really old and first toys on the world are saved in this place 4€ for adult and 2 € for child
Cute little place. Loved the collection and the entrance ticket is cute.

Breath taking place a must visit! Did not see the devil, maybe next time. Worth visiting Porvoo just for that alone! 10/5
Pirunportaat in free translation The Devils Stairs in the middle on Old Town Porvoo. Nice path to cross the area but not in wintertime! No maintainance then. Public area including the two benches, one in the "park" and One on the lookout point. Few tourits venture here altough a few steps from the church. In its prime during Autumn.
It's okay. Not bad. That the type I expected though. This is only felt as a real devil in the winter.
Best thing to do in Porvoo 👌🏼

This is a great art venue 🎨 👌 I happened to walk inside and was pretty surprised by the on-going great art exhibition. Yet, it is better to go to Porvoo on weekdays since almost all shops were closed, unfortunately.
Great temporary exhibitons of contemporary Finnish artists! I really liked the gallery’s shop. You can buy some incredible art and craft there.
Excellent work congress/conference location. The food severed at the restaurant was excellent.
The Porvoo art factory is an century old building that first was a factory then housed some Artists and now is an concert and conference hall. The location is restored responsibly and sensible so that the charm of the previous usages of thebuilding is enhanced. The location itself is state of the art with phenomenal acoustics and everything one could wish for. The attached gallery, restaurant and chocolate manufactory are among the sights of Porvoo makeing the art factory a recommended stopping point on your walking tour in this picturesque town.
It was a pleasant space with beautiful and interesting art displays.
Attended a work event here - nice place in a historic old factory- well run with decent canteen.
Big car parking space, easy to find the place and come, cleam and nice decoration indoor, good orgranized for vaccination, clean rest room.
Could be like the Helsinki Cable Factory, with workshops, studios and ateliers. Some cheaper, sleazyer pub would be awesome. Vitriini is really good and reliable, Sinne is one of the best fine diners in all the land.

A must visit when in Porvoo. Small, but memorable.
Small and charming place
Definitely worth the 5€ spent on admission, if only for the friendliness of the staff, who helped explain Albert Ederfelt's career and work to me. The museum is based in Albert Ederfelt's original art studio and wandering around the surroundings it was possible to see the location for some of his famous work. The only downside is that it is not possible to see his home next door, which is now in private hands.
One of the best Finnish painters of all time, his studio.
It's a nice place to visit, with good views to the "Haikkoonselkä"
Nice small museum. Interesting. Must go to anyone interesting in Finnish painters and art.

Great, modern pool, stainless, clear clean water, sauna, dryer for swimming suits . Quite popular and busy place only.
I didn't use the pool but came for the buffet, it was really good and the pool was full of swimmers of all ages and warm! (it was winter) at 1 pm in the afternoon. I understand now why Finland is the happiest country in the world.
Really good swimming hall! Nothing to complain. Slide for kids, therapy pool for adults.
The vege burger at Toffe's is excellent! The chips are crispy on the outside and fluffy inside - delicious!
Fun for everyone, relaxation, cold water bassin, sauna, toboggan, waves once in a while... Full value for your money.
It is a little bit confusing that there are upstairs and downstairs mens and womans lockers and showers. (The key wristbands are colored accordingly.) The saunas and the 25m pool are quite ok, althought both could be a bit hotter to my taste. There is also some relax and kids pool.
