I joined a local tour to Nazare. When I got off the coach, I was stunned by the views. Capela de Nossa Senhora da Nazare captured my interest. It was a small chapel but it looked very beautiful! Miradouro do Suberco was amazing!! It was a bit steep but up there, you could enjoy the spectacular views of the beach and the endless sea. There were some carts selling nuts and sweets and souvenir shops around. The vibe was relaxing and enjoyable! I had lunch at Nazare Beach. Along the beach, there were many restaurants. We picked Tabernassa. We sat at the terrace. The staff was upper friendly and nice. My husband ordered octopus and he said it was the best that he had ever had and I had codfish which was fresh. We sat by the window, so we could enjoy the sea breeze while having a meal there! After lunch, we strolled along the beach and had two scoops of gelato at Gelatomania. The melted fast as the weather was quite hot! I think Nazare is a remarkably amazing place for tourists, especially for those who enjoy surfing. The waves in winter in Nazare are huge. If I have a chance to visit Nazare again, I would prefer staying there for at least a night!

IMO Nazare is worth the 40 min drive from Lisbon. We ended our trip with a half day trip to Nazare to checkout the scene. The main town was much bigger and more developed than I expected but that doesn’t take away from the beach scene which is very cool.

Nazaré is a fabulous place - beautiful beach, dozens of little cervejeiras, tabernas, restaurants, fabulous ice cream and deserts places. The streets down to the beach are tiny and parking is 5-10 mins walk away. There is a funicular railway now from the top of the town down to the beach which is great. The beach is really busy at one end and much quieter at the other. There is a huge beach football ‘kind of makeshift stadium’ in the centre of the beach but the beach is so huge it’s really not a problem. It’s the capital of surfing - possibly in Europe but when we were there in July the waves were very tame and for experienced surfers there are better places north of Nazaré (disclaimer- I know nothing about surfing!). So for us as a family with older children, it was a wonderful place and we will definitely be back.

It's absolutely worthy of a solid 5-star review 👏 This is a paradise ✨️ Even with massive tourism, this town has managed to maintain a nice atmosphere with lots to do and lots to eat!! The food selection was one of the best we found while touring across Spain. The streets were clean, and the locals were friendly. Despite small roads and compact architecture, they still have figured out parking and transportation with ease. This is a must for the itinerary if you are touring the Spanish countryside. My only regret is we had to leave before I had time to jet ski on the ocean!! Was a fantasy land! A++

This was great! Great view and service! The grilled cuttlefish was stellar. Others at the table liked their grilled sea bass, shrimp, and octopus.

This small family run seafood restaurant is perched on a cliff overlooking the town of Nazare and it's inviting beach. The restaurant probably has seating for about 50 and even though it was well past lunch hour, it was completely full. The helpful proprietor suggested that we pick from the day's fresh catch and to return in 20 minutes when both the food and table would be ready. True to his word, both table and food were ready at the appointed time. The fish was butterflied, grilled, lightly salted and finished with a drizzle of olive oil. The lobsters were halved /grilled and served with some melted butter mixed with fried garlic for dipping (no other seasoning required here). Only decision left is how much lemon to squeeze over both and what type of wine to accompany it (they have an extensive selection of local wines). Nothing fancy again, just letting the freshness of the food speak for itself. Ten stars for the view, five stars for the food and service!

Truly enjoy this small restaurant in Sitío Nazareth, owner goes above and beyond to ensure you enjoy your dinning experience. Love the clam appetizer, have never had a bad dish. Make reservations.

I guess the positive reviews are from people who got their food. We sat down at 1 p.m. and had no food by 2 p.m.; whereas people sat after us were enjoying their lunch. Must have been a miscommunication between waiters and kitchen but the waiters didn’t bother, even after we asked about it multiple times, so we had to leave after only having drinks. If your kitchen is THAT busy, just reject us at the entrance and don’t waste our time.

A small but impressive fort with breathtaking views over the ocean and the famous giant waves of Nazaré. Inside there is an interesting exhibition about the history of the fort and big-wave surfing. A must-see when in Nazaré.

Our visit was off season so we missed seeing surfers tackle the immense waves. The video is riveting. Definitely worth the walk down the hill and the 2 Euro entrance fee. Transport up and down the hill is offered for a nominal charge. Phenomenal view.

Amazing belvedere from this fortress built in 1577 but has undergone remodeling and expansion on several occasions since then. The fort is a popular tourist site, particularly because of its proximity to a surfing area famous for the height of its waves. It now functions as both a lighthouse and a museum, which is devoted to surfing with the Sebastian Steudtner's world record board and other great surfers !

Extremely interesting, fort itself told of its history, exhibitions very good, and waves, although only about 5-10m on the day were extremely exhilerating. Well worth €2 entry fee. Only draw back is the very steep walk back to the village, its no wonder so many people visit on a daily basis

It was such a mesmerizing place! We went there in June, yet the view was quite extraordinary, it felt almost dreamy. To see the view, you can either enter the lighthouse for 1 or 2 euros, or you can see it from outside for free.

I visited this area recently when making a day trip to Nazare. This is a beautiful church on the top of the hill within the plaza. Perfect place to visit on the way to the fort. Lots of places to eat and buy souvenirs nearby. Especially love the tile. There is a small museum (free!!) within one of the wings.

Definitely a sight to visit! Beautiful tile decorations inside, wooden statues and lots of small details. If you pay 1 euro, you will be able to go behind the altar and see more blue tiles and have a great view of the church! I was told that years ago sailors came to this church to receive a blessing for their long journeys. This marvelous church is very interesting to visit!

A cool experience a d convenient way to get down the super steep slope to and from the beach! Made exploring both the main beach and the north side easy! Prices were reasonable, and it was pretty quick in both directions. Much shorter ride (3 min) than taking the steep stairs (14min)!! Nice work! A

I was expecting some spectacular surfing on 30 meter waves but nothing was going on. Just a nice beach with some visitors. When I asked a guard where the surfers were he said "there are no waves". When you visit the small museum ar the lighthouse you will understand how rare these big waves are (see my review)

Great value for money and my 6 years old loved it. But we were only there for 3 hours. Go in the afternoon and you'll pay less. Even though it's pretty cheap already. Bring food if you don't like junk food as that's all they have.

Great water park for the whole family! Under new management this summer with some renovations!👍 Some wonderful waterslides that the younger family members older than 6 can enjoy. Water aerobics, music and onsite bar.😃 There could be better parking available, let's hope the new management looks into that.🤔

If you're in the area, this is nice little water park (a series of pools and some slides, with cafe/restaurant, music, and ice creams. There's a specific child's pool area and then plenty of space to sit on the grass surrounding the pools. Everything seemed well maintained and there are plenty of staff to keep everyone safe.

Lovely place to go with kids. Different pools sizes, multiple slides. Different prices for different times of the day. Comparing to last year I have on positive and one negative to write about , the positive it had trampolines with harness where my 5 year old could join however is €4 for around 10 minutes , the negative is this year they didn’t allow us to take the sun shade (umbrella), and wanted to charge us for the ones they have however, there lots of shade of you don’t go on the busiest days. Overall good place to go and I recommend

Beautiful watch point. The tower is closed tho. The walk up the mountain is about 15 minutes, not recommend for children or elderly as there are dangerous points along the route and on top.

Its really nice from the top and if you like hiking I would like you to try it. We enjoyed it alot and did hiking and got on the top and saw the View and enjoyed alot.

Really close to Nazare. Route is a bit tricky because you always go along highway. Climbing is not long, but somehow hard because it's a stairs. On the top you get 360° view. Definitely nice time spending
