The place was very beautiful, but there were so many people and it took a very long time to find a parking spot. I recommend you to go there early morning to avoid the traffic. And I also recommend you to climb the hill. You could see the amazing view from there !
The natural formation is in itself spectacular but it's the color of the ocean around it, the color of the cliffs, the sound of the ocean, the waves, the cries of the seagulls, the tall grass growing on the hills bending to the wind, the wild flowers, creating that picturesque landscape, all coming together for an unforgettable experience and ambience. When it's cloudy, the colors are so special somehow. The walk up to either side to the see the views is not bad at all, like a ten minute climb. Enjoy your experience! Take a picnic up to the top of the hill to enjoy the serenity longer!
A piece of heaven. Loved the place long time back when I went there for work and fall in love with it. A wonderful place with an amazing view. This time spent a full day and weather was exactly what you expected to have the best experience. A must see place in west of France
What more can you say? Stunning natural rock formations, a postcard-worthy arch, crashing waves, and... scattered German concrete bunkers. It’s a mix of dramatic cliffs, windswept plains, and wartime history that somehow works. The views are breathtaking from both above and below — and when the wind picks up, walking becomes a full-body sport. A place that impresses without even trying. :)
Absolute must see in the Normandy, breathtaking views and a unique feeling. Very crowdy, don’t try to park in the city , you will fail :) better to stay a kilometer or so before the coast and take a walk instead. Or go there early in the morning, then you will be able to find a parking spot near the edge. Otherwise be prepared paying 25euros / day to locals offering parking spaces in their gardens :) Lot of restaurants and shops in the area, but most important are views from the cliffs. There’s also a small „train” which takes you to the cliff on the right (that one with church on the top) .
The arch and scenary is, like in so many places around the coast of Normandy, incredible. Walking to the top is worth it if you want to enjoy the view. A few things to note: Walking to the top takes a while and may be exhausting. Given the step stairs, it is impossible for people having problems with walking or stairs. Though some basic railing exists, especially children should be very careful. Especially around summer the area is a tourist hot spot and therefore full of people. This will certainly slow you down too.
This place is amazing! If you are into hiking, I'll recommend to you to park your car outside the downtown. Go to parking area so called "my parking etretat" and then walk few minutes to small street called "Petit Valaine". At the beginning it's lil bit climby and then you will find big field on your left, and golf course area on your right. Just walk following the golf shape of the golf course until you'll find the magnificent view. This path is unofficial walk, but I saw some local going through this path and also this path is MUCH better because there is no STEEP stairs (I noticed the official path has steep stairs). So with this path, you will just go downhill instead of uphills. Worth to try.
It is a very inspiring place, even Monet created 90 paintings on Etretat as subject , amazing place that make me spend two week to paint it in impasto style

This park was one of the highlights of our visit to Étretat. Perched above the sea with panoramic views of the cliffs and the town below, it’s an absolutely breathtaking place to explore. The gardens are beautifully maintained, blending art and nature in a way that feels both serene and inspiring. Whether you’re a nature lover, an art enthusiast, or just looking for a peaceful escape, this park is definitely worth visiting. Take your time here—it’s not just a quick stop, but a space to truly enjoy.
Worth the climb. The gardens were beautifully planned and reacted the local environment. The garden was the perfect companion to the art. A cup of tea and a treat in the cafe was the perfect full stop to a lovely moment in Etretat.
Nice and quite small park on the hill. There are some sculptures etc. but 20-30 mins more than enough. For 14 euros... big question mark. Maybe I don't understand the cultural impact - I wasn't impressed, sorry...
I think this botanical garden is one of the most beautiful I’ve seen. There are so many different installations in a relatively small area. I didn’t spend a lot of time there, but it was definitely worth it – it’s quite big, and that’s part of its charm.
This place is absolutely beautiful, so good that even the weather didn’t ruin our experience! 10/10 and so happy we visited! Would be great if one day they got given the rest of the hill to make perfect like this place, it would definitely make Etretat UNESCO World Heritage worthy (as if the wonderful sea arches wouldn’t be enough already)!
Worth a visit if you’re in Étretat. Nice place to take a stroll during the afternoon and escape from the heat. Lots of cool exhibits on display. There’s also a cafe inside the garden if you want to take a caffeine break.
tourist scam for 12 euros. garden is very small, there are like 5 heads sculptures. you can see the sea from only one point, which is a dedicated photo area but since the garden is on the cliff there’s a better view right next to it and it’s FRE OF CHARGE. these 5 heads are not worth it and you can’t even take a normal picture because of the crowd of tourists. i don’t even know what else to say..
These gardens were the most beautiful and magical I've ever seen, filled with sculptures and lush greenery that made me feel like I had stepped into the world of Alice in Wonderland 🤍

A bit steep on the street or you can take the stairs. The views over the cliffs, the sea, the resort are absolutely stunning.
Amazing view. The hike wasn’t too difficult.
Lovely trekking route located on the northern cliff. You need to climb the stairs from the beach, roughly 10 minutes, after which you’ll be able to start the walk (you can access the gardens from up there too)
Less popular route, but the views are good also

This chapel situated on cliff and the view is breathtaking. Must visit.
Beautiful views to the see and cliffs. The cathedral looks old and small, and for now it is closed due to maintenance works. The place Could be reached via steps directly from the beach, or you could drive here though I didn’t noticed any parking lots Close to the gardens.
Pros: we arrived on Friday evening, the weather was bad so we had no problem to park for free right by the beach, otherwise there is for sure a problem with parking because the parking lot ia small and nearbay streets are narrow, the cliffs were nice - you can climb (walk up) on both sides, but I was much more excited about the stony beach and the gorgeous sounds that the waves made as they hit the rocks, it was an incredible experience to hear the power of the sea, we went up to the cliffs, took a few photos and returned back down, it's a very interesting place, worth seeing and especially for hearing, Cons: watch out for children - there are no obstacles on the cliffs - it is a extremelly dangerous area !!!
Church on a beautiful cliff. The view from the church us amazing also the view to the church is amazing. Easy to climb up to the church.
very haunting and beautiful church, great view. Rocky road to drive up but possible.
Absolutely breathtaking view. Difficult to take photographs without loads of tourists on them.
You can’t go inside. Beautiful views though

We accidentally found this wonderful and productive seafood stall. A portion of 6 oysters cost us 4.80€
It’s very important to visit this place with The AUDIOGUIDE !!! It is narrated by the Arsene Lupin, starts with meeting Le Clos and followed by Arsene’s stories. Each room is about one or more stories ( the rubbery, travel, people he met and etc) Although it is a very small place but it’s nicely made into a museum. It worth the visit specially if you are Arsen Lupin’s fan. At the end there’s a gift shop with comic books and stationery items and etc. Two downsides: - no toilet is in the place!!! - just two of the books in English.
You must be a real lupin fan to see this tour. Since we just know the show from netflix we mistly did not get the context of the tour since lupin was talking about a treasure. Not recommended if you are not a 100% lupin fan. However I can imagine that if you are a lupin fan it can be very very cool with a lot of stuff to see and souvenirs to buy at the end.
The most creative, best museum i've ever experienced! The audio guide, the design, the house itself, everything is perfect. Worth every penny.
A cool stop on the way to Etreat beach.
(Translated by Google) The reception is appalling. It says the garden closes at 12:00 and that the ticket cut-off time is 11:30. We arrive at 11:15 and are told it's closed. We point this out, and they make up another excuse: apparently a large group had just entered, so it's not closed, but full. However, we'd been in the garden since 11:00 and not a single person had entered... This didn't make us want to pay for the tour at 1:30. I don't recommend it at all, it's a shame... Best quality/price restaurant around. No local fishes. We have tool Salmon and meats. Tiramisu and creme brulee for desert which was surprisingly good! Wines was ok too. Service was ok and price a bit expensive.
Very disappointing experience. The staff was extremely unprofessional — we were charged for three coffees when we only ordered two, and the attitude when we politely pointed it out was shockingly rude. It’s rare to see such an unfriendly and disrespectful attitude toward international tourists, especially in a popular tourist area.
All three pizzas ordered were burnt and when asked for the fully burnt pizza at least for replacement, they said that's how pizza is cooked so not their problem, we can have it or leave it!! First server agreed to replace and asked to pay but manager came and said it's his server mistake, they can't replace!! Eat it or leave it!
Awful capucino....not even reall coffee but very high price. Beautifull view but thats not justification for not beimg able to make basic coffee with milk. To top it off there is no service, so you go an order at the bar. The affligem on tap is a great beer but dont come here for coffee.
The food was very bad, we had a a margarita it wasn’t fresh and was very hard difficult to chew, also the cappuccino it was without milk it was the worst coffee we had ever had, when we complained about the coffee they said they make like this
People are crazy 🤣 Some locals informed me that if i wanted cigarettes i was able to buy from Casino...I went there and the girl in the front desk told me that if i want to buy cigarettes i needed to order drinks... 🎪 🤣

We would have liked more information on how to collect the milk and how the products are made. However, the products are truly unique. This train is very functional, gets you from the center of Etretat to the top of the cliff at the viewing point. Excellent for accessibility / if someone has limited mobility. It costs €9 there and back. The poor reviews seem to expect something other than a train, they seem to expect a tour, which is not what this is.
I wish my internet connection would have been active at the time when we bought the tickets for this. Now that we're back after realizing the level of scam it is we're in the office of tourism and unfortunately they're fully aware of the constant complaints and negative reviews of this business. Please beware and stay away. Anything that you want to see in this city is much more accessible by foot and costs a heck of a lot less. The employees are unfriendly unhelpful and for lack of a better word to scammy. Before you book with them look at all of the previous reviews and make your own decision but please.
If you do not want to walk all the way to the jardin d etretat - this train will be a life saver. although i did see some people being dropped off by car at the jardin - i do not think they were allowed. The train should leave and pick up every 30-40 min - but we waited a bit longer for it to arrive so not the most scheduled train. Maybe make sure to get a phone number to which you can call them - would have been easier for us to know when they would arrive.
I looooove the train! The guys selling me the tickets and the person driving the train are both very warm and amicable. Someone earlier left a review that the train went up at breakneck speed. It’s not true in the first part. Just before we reach the top, there was a quicker part but I know it was necessary because the last part is quite a steep ascend. Highly recommend this - just think of it as transport to go up :)
A theft. No timetables available, ask the driver how long there is between trains and they say 30 minutes. We've been waiting for 1.5 hours and no one is coming. I strongly advise against it.
Left my back in that train.. Worst ride. For 9 euro ticket we came back on foot because no understandable time of return and not possible to return in one piece. Writing this from my hotel room with strong back pain.
Amazing view from there, church was under construction at the moment we were there
Overpriced and Expensive. 8euro for adults and 5euro for kids. No commentary provided and the driver drove really fast up and down the hill.

Nice place in the heart of Etretat. The bright blue water gives you the feeling that you are somewhere in the far south. On both sides of the beach you have a walking route to the cliffs. Just a shame about tourism. A very popular place in Normandy.
Porte d’Aval, located along the stunning Alabaster Coast in Étretat, Normandy, France, is a breathtaking natural wonder that leaves visitors in awe of its dramatic beauty. This iconic sea arch, carved meticulously by the relentless forces of wind and waves over centuries, stands as a testament to the raw power of nature. The picturesque seaside town of Étretat is located in the Normandy region of Northwestern France and is known for its chalk cliffs, including three natural arches, one of which is called L'Aiguille. Étretat is a popular place in Normandy. L’Aiguille Jutting out of the water 70 meters high, l’Aiguille is a remarkable geological formation. Tides Normandy is famous not only for its unbelievable rocks but also for its longest tides. When walking on the beach, be fully aware of the tide times. Étretat Beach Enclosed between the Amont and Aval cliffs, the beach is a stranding port for fishing boats. The sea dissolves the chalk from cliff falls and polishes the flint into rounded pebbles. It is forbidden to collect pebbles from the beach because they offer protection against swell and storms. The towering limestone cliffs, with their striking white hues, contrast beautifully against the deep blue of the English Channel, creating a scene that feels almost otherworldly. As you approach Porte d’Aval, the sheer scale of the arch becomes apparent, with its elegant curve framing the horizon and offering a glimpse of the endless sea beyond. The view from the beach, especially during low tide, is nothing short of spectacular, as the golden sands stretch out beneath the cliffs, inviting you to explore the rugged coastline. Cliffs On both sides of the beach, there is a walking route to the cliffs. The Falaise d’Amont is home to various birds and protected plants that have adapted to the coastal habitat. Walking along the cliffside paths provides an even more immersive experience, as you are treated to panoramic vistas of the coastline, the arch, and the needle-like rock formation known as L’Aiguille, which rises majestically from the water just offshore. The sound of crashing waves echoes against the cliffs, adding a sense of tranquility and grandeur to the atmosphere. For those who venture further up the cliffs, the vantage points offer unparalleled photo opportunities, particularly during sunrise or sunset when the light bathes the landscape in warm, golden tones. The surrounding area is rich in natural beauty, with lush greenery and wildflowers dotting the cliffs, creating a picturesque contrast to the stark white rock. Porte d’Aval is not just a visual marvel; it also holds a sense of timelessness and history. The cliffs have inspired countless artists, including the famous Impressionist painter Claude Monet, who captured their beauty in several of his works. The the beach becomes less crowded after 4 p.m., offering a more tranquil atmosphere to relax and admire the scenery. Standing here, you can’t help but feel a connection to the generations of travelers, artists, and nature enthusiasts who have been drawn to this place. Whether you’re a hiker, a photographer, or simply someone seeking a moment of serenity, Porte d’Aval offers an unforgettable experience that encapsulates the essence of Normandy’s natural splendor. It’s a destination that lingers in your memory long after you’ve left, a true gem of the Alabaster Coast.
Mesmerizing creation of the mother nature. Cliffs on both side of the beach is a magnificent view. Why is Google not letting me upload this post?
A wonderful holiday destination in France. Lovely pebbled beach with two cliffs on either side. A refreshing walk to the top, mesmerizing view. Love options of eateries to choose and eat from. For those who cannot climb up, there is a train that goes to the top. There is also parking available for cars
A majestic view with green hills, steep cliffs, and sounds from waves crashing. Good weather preferred!

Great place to visit on a weekend or during the week if you can, Sunday is great time.
Its a very nice place, I guess it is worth visiting it to buy some souvenirs and get to know a little more of the city and its history. Isn´t to big and can be crowded sometimes. It is just around all the historic sites and restaurants. There are pleny of options of things you can buy, to all ages. For postcards and keychains, it is the best place.
Cosy market in the heart of Étretat selling souvenirs, local hand made products, alcohol beverages, and more. There aren't many shops here as it is a small market, but still worth an experience walking through.
The outside of the building is charming and reminds visitors of a bygone era, so bygone in fact that the interior is littered with cheap souveniers and other souvenirs that do not fit well in this market.
You can buy souvenirs, jewelery, hats, liquor, etc from here but prices are too high. EDIT: it is just a scam to be honest. I bought an apple juice for 7 euro!!! specifically asking for alcohol free. Came home to find out that it was already fermented and not drinkable 😑
Excellent service, menus in common European languages and good food, very pretty (and busy) town
Beautiful building reminding a Viking hallroom, lots of cute postcards (also stamps) and suvenir shopping, some clothing and jewelry. Right in the tiny city centre
You can buy all kind of souvenirs connected with Etretat and Normandy.

Add in a few cozy seaside cafés and you get a mix of natural beauty, wartime remnants, and relaxed atmosphere that somehow works. Étretat doesn’t try too hard — it doesn’t have to. :)
The beach is very clean and the water is clear because of the pebbles and rocks (absolutely no sand) although quite chilly but pleasant when the sun is out. I highly recommend coming prepared with a swimming suit already on because there are no changing cabins. Also there are 2-3 public toilets around the beach but the queue to access them is very long (especially for the women’s wc) and restaurants won’t let you use theirs. Mid August, it was crowded but you can easily find a spot to lay on your towel.
The stunning view of the cliffs was absolutely breathtakingly beautiful, but the lack of parking for motorhomes made the visit very difficult. We had to park almost 3 km outside the town and walk all the way back. The campsite was completely full, the motorhome service area was also full, and the parking lots either had height restrictions or were already full. It's a shame, because otherwise we would have stayed a little longer and spent some money.
It's important do get both directions. The hike is amazing and easy. There is no tax o ticket needed. I truly recommend to stay for the sunset. It's a wonderful experience of natural lights.
A nice place to visit for a few days. You need at least 2 full days if you want to check out the cliffs on both sides of town. If you are lucky and do not have clouds, the sun set is super from the beach.
This place took my breath away. I think after cycling so far, this was near the end for us. Seeing the cliffs, was awesome!
Beautiful beach with clear water. Small and beautifully bookended by nightly clifts. Worth walking up to get a different perspective and light. The only downside is it got busy and there was a constant stream of people going up the clifts to capture selfies. Definitely draws in the Instagram poses. Enjoy it early or late and just take in the beauty. Put down your phones.

Note that you can’t enter the church at this time. It’s under construction. But we did enjoy walking around the cemetery grounds. It’s well cared for and the church is beautiful to see.
It seems a beautiful romanesc church. Unfortunately, today, it looked like a Christo's work of art with scaffoldings being mounted. I wasn't able to enter.
Beautiful church, with the way graves tended to immaculately.
Good place to view the sights
Great memorial place!
Beautiful Roman church
(Translated by Google) This Romanesque church is impressive in its simplicity and simplicity. With a very high vault, the church is unimaginably large from the outside. Beautiful stained-glass windows, an ancient organ, and a cemetery where Commonwealth soldiers, victims of world conflicts, are buried.

Honestly, I don’t get these negative reviews! We came in at 9:45 after a long hike. The waitress was so kind and said they could make us a pizza to go—even though the kitchen was closing. The pizza was so good!! I am very picky about the quality of the food I eat—that pizza was delicious!! The tables were clean and staff couldn’t have been nicer to us. They even let us eat at the tables after all—even though they were closed.
We sat at the terrace and had to move to the middle part. OK, fine. We ordered 2 coke's and when paying we had a €11 bill. The toilet stinks, is too dark and it is iron without seat. We will not come back. 3 stars as the place does look decent inside.
One of the worst places I’ve been to, everything is dirty, slow service. Waiters barely speak any English and are super rude. Our order was confused and when we told them that we didn’t order that they started speaking French and just completely ignored us. We had to ask for a change twice and when they finally did a change the waiter basically threw our coffee on the table. Try to avoid this place if you don’t want to ruin your experience in Etretat
We tried to have a drink at 4pm on a Wednesday. The terras was fairly quiet with less than half of the tables occupied. We were asked if we wanted drinks or food. When we said we just wanted drinks the waiter's reaction was annoyed. He let us know that he would only seat us in sun. Mind you, there were plenty of tables in the shade available. When we said we would prefer a table in the shade he just walked away. We waited for some time but eventually left without being seated. Shame, cause their terras looked nice with an excellent view.
Hello. The staff was kind and good but the crepe we ordered was very cold and bad, also hot chocolate was not that great. It affected our stomach. Please be careful while serving crepe next time.
I don’t understand the bad reviews. Our pizzas were delicious and the service was really good and fast, very tourist friendly. Only downside was that the toilets were dirty when we ate there. Besides that I definitely recommend this place!
I came in for a quick lunch and everything was great! Service was quick and food was really good ! No complaints here! The servers were super nice

Very friendly with plenty of activities to do and animals are approachable. Highly recommend, especially for the little ones.
I loved this place so much, we were welcomed very kindly by the staff. The animals are all very beautiful and well taken care of!! I got to even feed some of the animals which was an amazing experience. Thank you so much once again for greeting us, we will be back again when we visit Normandy!
Quirky little animal farm where you can walk through the animal pens. Well worth a visit to pass half a day, great for small children. Would recommend going.
(Translated by Google) Very good experience at the cliff farm! We did "farmer for a day" where we took care of the animals with David, it was great and perfect for adults too!
