Amazing cave, you have to buy tickets in advance, get the combo for 2$ extra to see the castle, tour sets out every 30 minutes. The guide will talk a lot, if you wish to take photos of the whole cave wait for the group to pass towards the end and then go crazy, she will speak for 10 minutes at the very end of the cave so you have time. Very knowledgeable guide, she speaks English and Italian, I would say 75% will be in Italian.
It's a worthwhile visit with a guide waiting at the entrance of cave to provide detailed history of this cave. Just spots in the cave is narrower and low. Just need to be careful and not touch :)
A beautiful spot for a quick dip. The swimming pool is a great option but you will need to buy your ticket.
The longest grote in the region, 150m. A shelter for humans since mamouth times, according to the local guide. Partly inaccessible to the public because of 2 endemic species, protected.
Worth visiting. A few reminders - buy tickets at the Grotte entrance(not where cars are blocked off). Check time schedule for tours in advance! For example, the English tour is offered at 11am and 4pm. You can’t just go in anytime. We had to make two trip to see it
It is an Interesting cave and is a very important one too.
Visit is relatively short, but worth it! Amazing place! Stories provided by guides are interesting, covering facts and folklore.
This is one of our summer finds this 2023.The visit last 30 minutes max. Entrance fee is 6€-adult and 3€-child. The young ladies are courteous and efficient, tour guide will explain the details/information if needed. Spectacular view and amazing water.Kids will love the cave. It is worth the visit.

We got our tickets as a combo after visiting the Grottas of Zinzulusa, this small museum is very well made and presented, a must visit to your trip to Castro. They let you access the towers mezzanine, it was celebration day so we actually got to see the fireworks! And the welcome guide was wonderful, she took her time to explain the city and castle history along with the artifacts.
Very interesting museum. Not very long, but lots to learn. You can walk along the outside wall without a ticket. Breath taking views!
Excellent exhibition, we were amazed how detailed is it. It's a must see.
Perched on the cliff top, it is set in a beautiful location towering above the bay surrounded by the ancient town of Castro which is perched around it. The view from the battlements is spectacular in every direction. The museum is small but fascinating roaming its way back through the sites incredible and ancient history. Occupied since stone age times it has artefacts which date back thousands and thousands of years, unearthed from the site. The sight is supported by archeological evidence taken from the Greek, Roman, Norman, Ottoman and Aragonese periods! The young man working there was incredibly helpful and very keen to tell you the history of this magnificent landmark!
Great view of surroundings and information in the history of the area .
The guided tour was really interesting, and the guide so passionate about the recent discoveries!
Fascinating history that goes all the way 10 century BC, through helenistic times and middle age. Tour was great (ask for EN otherwise its IT)

(Translated by Google) Castro. From the Latin Castrum. Beautiful fortified citadel overlooking the sea and embellished with Byzantine (basilica) and medieval structures. The city walls that enclose the historic center of Castro extend over a total perimeter of approximately 700 meters and are strengthened by the mighty castle and some towers. The maintenance of the walls was ensured by the feudal lord until 1806, the year in which feudalism was abolished. Over the decades, most of the walls were used as foundations for the perimeter houses of the ancient town; However, long stretches of curtain remain and four towers and bastions of various sizes and shapes. . The ancient nucleus of Castro is the only example, in the entire province, of a fortified citadel located on a rocky hill overlooking the sea. (Original) Castro.

Nice!!! Amazing natural cave!
It's a pretty big cave system. Quite cool. Tour is in Italian. Worth visiting only if you haven't seen a cave system before.
(Translated by Google) A unique testimony to the presence of Neanderthal man in the West well before what had been thought until now, so much so that the findings found in the cave lead to talk of a Romanellian civilisation. The cave is closed, accessible only by authorized personnel and is difficult to reach from the road. There is a path, which starts from the provincial road, clearly visible thanks to the presence of a sign indicating the site, and arrives on the north side, then you need to be a good climber to go down (or bring a ladder with you). Otherwise you can get there from the sea more easily. There are no other routes, because they are incorporated into damned private property, so much so that you could even get there from Zinzulusa, but a sign, which closes the road, says that anyone who violates the sacred property will be prosecuted according to the law. A criminal is anyone who walks and seeks the shortest route.

Really nice place! We slept so comfortably and the place was so peaceful 🫶👍
(Translated by Google) I give 4 stars not for the park itself, which in my opinion deserves a little more maintenance, but for the splendid memories I have attached to this place. When I was little I came here every summer and loved it, but unfortunately, returning this August after not coming for several years, I sensed an air of neglect and noticed that (apart from the children's play area) many of the original paths do not exist more so, as the plants and brambles had grown out of all proportion, and this displeased me a lot. It's a real shame, because it is a park with so much potential that, if it were looked after properly, it could attract far more people than it does and would regain that magical atmosphere it had years ago.

The same goes for the bar inside, it should consider an investment that redevelops it and can be an attraction, for a forest that truly deserves much, much more (Original) Sarebbe un posto bellissimo, se l'Ente Parco che usufruisce di fondi pubblici si occupasse della salvaguardia dei lecci.

The bar at the entrance makes a bad impression and shows a lack of concern for its surroundings. It could add value to a town that offers little to tourists except what nature has provided for millennia. It's shameful to say the least. The guy at the desk was unable to say a single word of English. This is quite odd for tourist information desk... However he did his best to help using Google translate. But still...

Well maintained and very well priced. Snacks were delicious. I went twice in the first week of September and there was plenty of availability and the atmosphere was great. Location is beautiful.
I spent a lovely Saturday here. I arrived a bit late for a Saturday, but the staff was very helpful in showing me two different available spots I could choose from. The prices were very reasonable. Simple bar available, easy water access from multiple points. Most spots get ample shade due to the umbrellas being quite close together.
Beautiful location with reasonable prices. The owner was very kind when we arrived late in the afternoon and warned us about the swimming conditions before letting us pay.
Second year coming to Castro and Lido La Sorgente in particular. This is the first time we have returned to the same place 2 years running in several years touring Italy at least once a year and I suspect we will be back next year. Castro is amazing and La Sorgente is the jewel in the crown. Lovely pitches among the rocks and easy access to the sea. Swimming is superb. Bring goggles and snorkel to view the fish. I've read the comments about rudeness and I must say that is not our experience. All the staff are very friendly. The food is basic but good value. We were very satisfied. If you want something more there are a range of restaurants, pizzeria, bars and pasticcieria within a couple of minutes walk. Cannot recommend Lido La Sorgente enough. We will be back!
Refreshing clear water, a beautiful spot.
A beautiful place to swim and snorkel, with comfortable chairs and good umbrellas. The staff were very welcoming, and the prices were reasonable. Would recommend!
We loved it here, super friendly staff, calm atmosphere and amazing bay ❤️
Visiting from the UK this wasn’t really what we were looking for from a beach club and totally impractical with a 1 year old as sun beds are all on wooden platforms and rocks, which so couldn’t take our eyes off her. The approach into the sea is via a wooden walkway with a rope and lots of rocks about as well so didn’t feel safe carrying her into the sea as felt I might have slipped. Without children I think we would have really enjoyed it but get there early to get a good position.

South-east tower of the walls of the ancient urban nucleus of Castro, It is the corner of the walls most visible from the sea, from which the routes of crossing the channel of Otranto have always been checked.
(Translated by Google) From here you can enjoy a wonderful view. The idea of the engraved slabs, placed right on the turret, which report some passages from the Aeneid, those in which Virgil tells of Aeneas who lands in Castro because from afar he sees the statue of Minerva, of which, among else, a part was found a few months ago, right there. So Virgil was right and Aeneas was right about it, because Castro is a really cool town now, let alone then.
