Amazing beach with very soft sand and golden sparkles. Enough space during our visit in the end of Mai, just about 20-30 visitors. Shallow water, on a windy day a great place to have some fun with the (mid-sized) waves. Perfect for a walk on the beach. Music of the taverna is loud but if you lay down a little further on the beach you only hear it in the background. Road down is an adventure, we chose to hike down from the orthodox church, took about 45 min. Retrospective, you could have managed the drive - even with a small car, just be brave! There are enough parking spots at the beach.

This was definitely on the sketchiest drives I've had in my life, the "road" is very rocky and one simple mistake could lead to a punctured tire, so be warned if your rental car has special conditions for off-roading or a high deductible. Nevertheless the drive was worth it, the sand is amazing, the waves are awesome and above we arrived there around 7:30 pm and no one was there. Keep in mind sometimes there was barely any GPS signal, and at some point Google maps will tell you to take a left through a VERY dangerous road, choose the path that's 3 minutes slower, you'll thank me. The bar over there has no toilets and only sells drinks, so bring your own food if you wanna eat something. It's definitely the scariest/most exciting drive of my life. For reference the car we had was a Suzuki Swift automatic but I even saw people driving back with Hyundai i10, so with patience and going slow it's doable. On our way back we encountered a snake, careful not to run them over if it's dark already. Lots of goats along the way but they stay mostly out of your way.

It’s also not child-friendly at all. I would recommend it more for singles or young couples who don’t mind the lack of comfort, but not for families.

Beautiful beach, great photos from up top, soft and, a beach bar with some party techno and some options for drink and food. I came to swim. It's more windy and wavy than the pristine bathwater calm beaches you find, but def worth checking out. Keep in mind you need to get through a solid 15 or 20 mins of bad dirt bumpy roads, but you can do it with a basic rental car. Just take your time. Check photos for a view.

Truly stunning spot. There’s a fairly large parking area right in front of the beach, and additional space to park along the access road. The view is incredible, overlooking ancient ruins and a small island with a charming chapel. The water is crystal clear and relatively shallow, making it perfect for a day out with small children. The sandy beach is well-equipped with sunbeds, and nearby rocky islets offer great fun for snorkeling enthusiasts. For me, this place deserves the maximum number of stars. I was able to relax in peace and in genuinely beautiful surroundings

A beautiful beach where history and nature meet. The water is shallow and clear. Of course, this can vary depending on the weather. It's far from the island's center, so you'll need a car or motorcycle-like vehicle. There's parking, but since it's a crowded and popular beach, you might have trouble finding a spot. There's a cafeteria-like kiosk where you can find your essentials. You can rent a sunbed or sit on a stone on the beach and enjoy the sea. As I said, it's a bit of a journey, almost the tip of the island, but it's worth it. It's better to come early. It gets very crowded after that.

Beautiful experience! €25 for two sunbeds and an umbrella — definitely worth it for the unique view of the Byzantine church ruins and the picturesque islet with its little church just in front. We reached the islet by pedalo (€20 per hour), but it’s also easily accessible by swimming. The water is amazing — crystal clear and refreshing — and we even found a starfish! A must-do if you're in the area!

The beach itself is amazing and truly unique – swimming right next to 3,000-year-old Greek ruins is an unforgettable experience. The water can be a little cold, but it’s refreshing, and the beach is very child-friendly, which makes it great for families. There are a few challenges though: parking is quite difficult to find, and the free part of the beach gets very crowded. If you don’t arrive early, it’s hard to get a good spot. The other half of the beach belongs to a private hotel, so access is limited. Also, toilets are an issue and could be improved. Overall, despite the practical inconveniences, it’s absolutely worth visiting for the history, the scenery, and the atmosphere.

Very nice beach next to old ruins. Good place for snorkelling around the ruins where you can see a lot of fish. Beach on the right side had the view on the island but it’s crowded, small places between the sundbeds and they charge you 25 euros for sunbeds witch is ridiculous.. I recommend you to go to the beach on the left side of the ruins where the beach si much better and sunbeds cost ,,only,, 15 euros - (saved 10 euros - better beach - less people). If you want to go there without people, try to stop by around 18:00 to get this view.

Perfect Sunset spot... if you arrive around 1h before sunset, I recommend to first drop into the restaurant and reserve a table for dinner, then order wine-"to go", walk down to see the sunset while drinking your Aperitif, come back up and enjoy your dinner - very nice seafood dishes but also Moussaka. During the season maybe call ahead of time!

Very small and quiet beach, didn’t seem like a lot of families with children visit here and we didn’t see many all afternoon. The beach isn’t very Sandy as you can see from the images. There is a guy that will come around collected €7 for the sun beds once you have sat down! You can use them as long as you like for the €7 for both beds! He seems nice and approachable.

OK, so, if you expect a sandy beach.... run..... this is all pebbles, hard on the feet if you don't wear something and a bit of a walk if your friends decide to run off ahead and pick a spot furthest way from the free parking and you forgot your flip-flops... ok so that s an ouch.... think about it like this... lovely warm weather, seas a perfect temperature for a swim, great wild surroundings and its like you are walking on lego pieces all the way down the beach!! Right so… you have been warned! Its a lovely beach, we went in the afternoon so it was quiet , no kids , very peaceful and we decided to stay for a couple of hours and found it very very relaxing. For a beach that’s a little off the beaten track there is a restaurant, surf school and some amenities nearby , lots of lovely views and to be honest, it was worth the drive to to swim and relax for the afternoon. As for the plethora of pebbles and rocks… I walked back along the beach to the car park by wading in the sea… much better option…. So kiddies, if you come to this beach… bring footwear :)

My favourite beach on Kos, you have to be lucky to park here after noon, it is a small beach with limited capacity of sunbeds and parking spots. But so worthy! Sand beach with some rocks on the sides so it is also good for snorkelling, lots of fish there.

I'd say it's the most beautiful and peaceful beach on the island. If you prefer, you can rent a sunbed and enjoy the sea, sand, and sun on the right. For a more isolated and quieter experience, you can spread out your towel on the left-hand beach and enjoy. Because the beach is sheltered like a bay, the water is generally calm and clear. It didn't bother me, but it might be a bit chilly for those who are cold. Still, I'd say it's one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. You can drive down there; there's parking, but the road is a bit steep and uneven, so be careful. Alternatively, there's the Camel Restaurant upstairs where you can eat. Or, if you prefer, the attendant will bring you your order from the restaurant upstairs on a motorbike. You can also do that.

Beautiful views, crystal clear water, huge potential, but don’t you think that sandy beach equals sandy access to the sea here - there are very slippery rocks all along the coast. Some of them are pretty sharp so if you walk into the water without proper shoes you risk an injury.

Homophobic comments from Panos the guy that rent sun beds at Exotic Beach, i belive i did right to completely ignore him since he litraly insulted me for being a gay man! aparently he claim that gay mans are not allowed to rent or stay at "his" beach. please READ the other reviews everywhere, this is going on since 2018! we are all welcom to engoy the free FKK beach at Kos and NOT needing his sun beds. the free FKK beach is just to the left of the sun beds at Exotic Beach

Very nice nude beach with a small hut serving drinks, the man also gives massages, however we didn't partake. There are hundreds of fish in the shallow waters, entering to waist high water then standing still you will find dozens of fish forming in a circle around you, very beautiful. Be careful when entering and walking around the water as, even though rare, I was stung by a weaver. My experience was very lucky - it must have been a small one and only one spine got me, but the pain was horrendous, passed after around 45 minutes. If you are stung you have to pay close attention to any signs of allergy as this could make the sting fatal. Overall wonderful beach probably one of our favourites.

Truly stunning spot. There’s a fairly large parking area right in front of the beach, and additional space to park along the access road. The view is incredible, overlooking ancient ruins and a small island with a charming chapel. The water is crystal clear and relatively shallow, making it perfect for a day out with small children. The sandy beach is well-equipped with sunbeds, and nearby rocky islets offer great fun for snorkeling enthusiasts. For me, this place deserves the maximum number of stars. I was able to relax in peace and in genuinely beautiful surroundings

A beautiful beach where history and nature meet. The water is shallow and clear. Of course, this can vary depending on the weather. It's far from the island's center, so you'll need a car or motorcycle-like vehicle. There's parking, but since it's a crowded and popular beach, you might have trouble finding a spot. There's a cafeteria-like kiosk where you can find your essentials. You can rent a sunbed or sit on a stone on the beach and enjoy the sea. As I said, it's a bit of a journey, almost the tip of the island, but it's worth it. It's better to come early. It gets very crowded after that.

Beautiful experience! €25 for two sunbeds and an umbrella — definitely worth it for the unique view of the Byzantine church ruins and the picturesque islet with its little church just in front. We reached the islet by pedalo (€20 per hour), but it’s also easily accessible by swimming. The water is amazing — crystal clear and refreshing — and we even found a starfish! A must-do if you're in the area!

The best sea in Kos. Sea was so clean and fresh. Also it was great to swim antic beach. You would want to swim to Kastri if you are good at swimming(recommended😊. So natural place to swim so there is no beach club and shower.

The beach itself is amazing and truly unique – swimming right next to 3,000-year-old Greek ruins is an unforgettable experience. The water can be a little cold, but it’s refreshing, and the beach is very child-friendly, which makes it great for families. There are a few challenges though: parking is quite difficult to find, and the free part of the beach gets very crowded. If you don’t arrive early, it’s hard to get a good spot. The other half of the beach belongs to a private hotel, so access is limited. Also, toilets are an issue and could be improved. Overall, despite the practical inconveniences, it’s absolutely worth visiting for the history, the scenery, and the atmosphere.

Very nice beach next to old ruins. Good place for snorkelling around the ruins where you can see a lot of fish. Beach on the right side had the view on the island but it’s crowded, small places between the sundbeds and they charge you 25 euros for sunbeds witch is ridiculous.. I recommend you to go to the beach on the left side of the ruins where the beach si much better and sunbeds cost ,,only,, 15 euros - (saved 10 euros - better beach - less people). If you want to go there without people, try to stop by around 18:00 to get this view.

Nice, modern / rustic location on top of the hill. Probably the best view in Kefalos. They also have really nice breakfast (especially pancakes), lunch and dinner.

It looks quite formidable on the outside at night but it is so casual and welcoming on the inside. We went to brunch and loved the music choice! Breakfast was outrageously beautiful to look at and to eat. What a wonderful experience. The staff were so lovely too. There is a great view from the car park

Our wedding reception at Mylotópi was simply magical! The view over the sea and surrounding landscape was absolutely breathtaking, the perfect setting for a truly special evening. The staff were incredible: so warm, attentive, and genuinely dedicated to making everything perfect. And the food... absolutely delicious! Every dish was beautifully prepared and full of authentic flavor. We couldn’t have imagined a better place to celebrate. It was everything we hoped for and more!

We had a wonderful meal with our children at this beautiful, authentic restaurant. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the restaurant had a luxurious feel. After dessert, which included a delicious lava cake, we were taken on a complimentary tour. We admired the 400-year-old windmill and also visited an authentic Greek house and bakery. Leonidas was our guide, and it was wonderful to see how passionately he explained everything. We'll definitely eat here again next time we're on Kos.

Mylotopi is a truly wonderful place, would highly recommend to anyone here in Kefalos, and even worth a journey from elsewhere in Kos. Food was superb, a stunning location with wonderful views from high on the hilltop setting. Great cocktails, and such excellent service - both efficient and super friendly. They even came to pick us up from our hotel and took us back afterwards. Thank you to all for a beautiful evening - especially Dimitris who acted as chauffeur, host, local tour guide/ font of knowledge, and thoroughly lovely guy (as were all the staff). Thank you! This is a very beautiful restaurant in Kefalos. The atmosphere and interior are stunning, the food and menu are excellent, and the prices are very reasonable. The view is absolutely the best in Kefalos – I don’t think any other restaurant can match it. We highly recommend it!

Amazing place, very friendly and the staff are exceptionally attentive to your every need, we had our anniversary meal in the restraunt and was very happy with all the kind comments and the food... wow what can I say, all cooked perfectly and tasty, and the cocktails were amazing... only place I've found on the whole island to make a proper OLD FASHIONED! Our tour guide Leonidas was brilliant and a very knowledgeable young lad with a passion for his role. Bar staff and waiter's and waitresses were very kind and pleasant to be around. If you are visiting Kos Island and want to experience history with beautiful views and a friendly atmosphere, then look no further. 10/10 👌

Kefalos in general is missed by tourism because of city of Kos. Wrong. It is a typical small Greek village with local climate. Get there, spend some time, check phenomenal view on the island from the castle. There are also local shops where you can buy local delicacy.

We visited Kefalos in August 2024 as we were doing a car day trip of Kos! We parked in the main car park in Kefalos and walked up to the castle. The castle is very much a ruin that has been left to ruin even more. There was no included information anywhere about the site, which is why I gave the 4 stars. The best thing about the castle is the view from the top. Really beautiful and you can see for miles. Worth a quick visit if you're there, but i wouldn't go out of your way to see it!

The paltry remains of the medieval fortifications seen here were a part of the fortress that saved the local populace from Turkish raids, especially one in 1457. Possibly building upon a Byzantine initial structure, the Knights Hospitaler enhanced the fortress here to provide safety to the people of the region. People living in Southern Kos would seek refuge within it, just as those in the Central regions would rush to Antimacheia and the Northerners to the capital. Findings suggest it remained in use until the 17th century, perhaps as the base of s local garrison. Nevertheless, it was since left into disrepair and gradually fell into ruins. Its materials were probably used to erect newer constructs. The view is wonderful, there is no ticket, so a short pause could be rewarding. Caution is mandatory as the place is unattended and in ruins.

A lovely little trip up to the Castle of Kefalos — well worth the 30-minute walk to the top of the hill. That part of the town really comes alive at night, so vivid and full of charm.

It's not a castle you can go in, more walk around and on top of (beware of the Wells on the top as you could fall in). We didn't book any excursion or have any guide so all knowledge of the Castle was obtained through Google whilst visiting. An excellent view point looking out to the Agean Sea. A good place for panoramic pictures with plenty of eateries just a very short distance walk. .

The castle of Kefalos is located atop a hill, overlooking the sea. It's an excellent endpoint for a high-intensity run from the beach. Especially during early morning since the sun rises from that side. I'd give it 5 stars, but it's a tad run-down. Nevertheless, the view is absolutely spectacular.

The food is the best. You get beautiful salads, courgettes and beans, I personally don’t eat salad but the rest of the party said they were lovely. Now, the main course. It’s just the best selection of local meats. Pork sausage, pork steaks, chicken, and more. All cooked to perfection on the charcoal grill in front of you. Simple food, not messed with and done perfectly. And it just keeps coming. If you want more, you get more until you can eat anymore. Also, you must try the homemade lemonade and pomegranate drinks. They’re the best on the island! The setting is also beautiful. Outside, everything very traditional. Absolutely wonderful in every way.

Came here a few years ago as well. Anna and her husband are very welcoming! Relaxed atmosphere. All the food is home grown produce and cooking is phenomenal and plenty of it. A must visit! Highly recommend! We went on bbq night and took home what we couldn't finish. Sundays they cook whole lamb in traditional oven.

I cant explain the feeling while being there...it just felt so natural,so very own like from our grand parents lives 50 years ago... Would highly recomend to visit this authentick place! After tour we had a nice coffee and chat with current resident. Currently grandson lives here,the traditional house was his gramdads,lots of personal items inside. We also signed guest book. Extreemly highly recomended to visit!

The traditional greek house that is over 100 years old. There is a normal house next to it where the grandson of the original farmer lives now. He is very sweet and he showed us around the house and the garden. He saved everything from his grandparents and displayed it in the garden and the small old houses. There are tools and pictures on the walls. It is for free but please tip him some money in the box. It is very nice and it took a lot of work. You can park your car in front of the house gate.

Next to Camel beach, probably the best, if you like to get away from the busier beaches. It's been made really cool, nice bay. The water is a bit rough early afternoon but the water isn't deep and goes out pretty far at knee height. Be careful driving there with a normal car, the road in is very rough. Follow the barrel signs, not Google maps!!! We followed Google maps and had to turn back for fear of getting the car stuck. Take your time and it's worth it. No bar or restaurant, you have to bring you own stuff.

A beautiful beach on Kos – despite it being peak season and a Sunday, the beach was practically empty. A very friendly local runs a business there, offering the cheapest sunbeds and umbrella we’ve come across on the island (10 euros for an umbrella with two sunbeds). A quarter of a watermelon for 3 euros 😍 Priceless memories! I really don’t understand the outrage of some people about the fee – there are at least a few wild, beautiful coves nearby where you can settle down and enjoy everything completely for free. So don’t be an asshole just support local Greek he cares about this place ! I recommend using the parking lot at Agios Theologos, stocking up there on whatever you like, and then taking a 1 km walk to the target beach. The coves I mentioned are along the way, and you can see them in the attached photos and video :)

Most amazing beach, one by far the most beautiful in Kos. Very few people and something really great to explore while snorkeling. The owner is a little rough on the edges but he did an amazing job building the whole thing (including his “Animal Planet”). Get past him either by paying 10E for an umbrella or buying some of his honey and you will be rewarded 1000 times over!!!

Wonderful beach and sea but only 1 star because a guy says he owns the beach: we read some reviews saying that the beach was accessible walking from other beaches but when we got there that guy said angrily that it was private and we had to pay if we wanted to stay. Absolutely not worth it, there are plenty of beautiful other beaches around there just beside this one.

This is a great little cove and beach a little off the beaten track. Accessible by foot (30 mins) or vehicle (ideally a buggy) from Agios Theologos Beach. There is a car park, toilet (basic) and sunbeds/carosels, but not much else other than a beautifully kept cove with a very exclusive feel. If you are looking for endless sandy beaches and great swimming this is not the beach for you though. There is a sheltered rock pool area and small beach for swimming. Great for relaxing or exploring the rocky coastline.

Lovely beaches in the area. Don't bother paying for the parking and sun beds. Just park a few hundred meters before or at Ag. Theologos. You can get to the beaches by walking along the sea coast. Beautiful, free and you may find empty beaches all to yourself

Very scenic beach in a cove next to the cliffs. The beach is quite rocky, this is not a sandy one. The water has amazing colours. There are quite some umbrellas with sun beds (10 euros each set). There is also a chemical toilet. But no food nor drink as far as I could see. The road to the beach is unpaved and sometimes a bit rugged. But it’s well indicated and it is perfectly doable in a normal car with some care.

Private beach, the alleged owner asks you 5 euros to access it, despide the fact there is a sign informing that the umbrellas cost 5 euros, not access to the beach. They "owner" of the beach was very unfriendly. It is not worth paying to go to that beach, there are a lot of better beaches on the island and completely free.

This is a place that truly takes your breath away. It’s unbelievably beautiful, and my husband and I are so happy we had the chance to visit. Getting there, however, is not easy – the road is very rough and at times it felt quite scary. We rented a buggy, which made the journey much easier. But I want to say this: don’t be afraid – the beauty you’ll find there is absolutely worth it!

It is nice place for a picnic with amazing views. Last two km of the gravel stretch which is around 5 in total has larger stones and hole. We went with a Jeep Compass and it was fine, lower car with smaller wheels is risking bottom damage. Otherwise if you feel where your wheels go and understand basic offroading rules you will be fine. Check with your car renter coz most of them will not cover damages on the gravel and if you are stuck road assistance will cost extra as well.

We made it carefully in our little Kia picanto but really you need a 4x4 as the road is 'himalyan' !! Great view and the furthest point the 'road' goes as far as I know??? Did not look inside the church as notnour place and mainly went for the view and to tick off our Kos list!! Please note on Kos as most Greek islands hire cars don't cover the underside of cars so please take a 4x4 or similar as it's an experience!! I drive off road a lot so not much a problem but saying that the car did admirable and you have to pick your path. The view is stunning but there are others as good and more accessible.

Great view, but the road to get there is just for skilled drivers in higher cars. You go there on your own risk, basically. Apparently, none of the rental cars have insurance that can cover gravel roads there, only asphalt. So if you break there you need to be ready to pay extra for assistance and car damages. And there are plenty of places on that road with potholes washed out by the water.

I’m surprised by the positive reviews. The tasting included just three very small samples of wine. The website mentioned 150 ml in total, but in reality, the portions were closer to what you’d expect as a small pre-taste in a restaurant before ordering a full bottle. The wine explanation was quite minimal, and the atmosphere felt rather quiet and lacking engagement. We weren’t offered a seat and ended up standing by the counter where the tasting was held. For the price, there are other wineries on the island that offer a more engaging experience, more generous tastings, and a more pleasant setting overall.

I’m genuinely surprised by some of the negative reviews as my experience at Volcania Winery was absolutely amazing. Maria is such a lovely and welcoming person and her customer service was second to none. Even though she doesn’t speak English, her communication through expression, kindness, and attentiveness was everything you could ever ask for. You really feel the heart she puts into the experience. The wine was lovely. This is hands down the best winery on the island. I highly recommend visiting.

The tasting was a big disappointment. For 20 minutes and €22, we got neither an experience nor value for money. The owner immediately took us to the counter, where we were given 3 wines to taste while standing - literally just 1–2 small sips of each, like when a waiter pours you a taste in a restaurant to check if the wine is okay. The owner wasn’t very talkative and only said a few words about the wines. Within a few minutes, the wine tasting was over— €8 for 2 people. Only after we asked if we could sit down and have a glass of wine were we seated on the terrace. We ordered 2 glasses of red wine, which we liked, and a local cheese washed with red wine, which we unfortunately didn’t enjoy. 2× €5 + €4. At another winery in Kos, we tasted 4 wines with cheese pairings, plus we got a couple of extra wine samples to compare. There was a great explanation about the wines, continuous attention, and comfortable seating on the terrace. The whole experience lasted 1.5 hours and cost €14 per person.
