We visited the capital and found it a little underwhelming; however, we were drawn to the old balconies whilst passing. The seafront opposite is quite appealing, too; however, with it being volcanic, it's completely black.
Lovely Palmerian balconies. Scattered throughout the promenade and the main street running through La Palma. Plenty of different colours and different displays of flowers. Very lovely to look at.
Perfect spot for Instagram photos
There's no way to miss it if you're in La Palma's capital city. Several classical, Canarian houses - local architecture at its finest :)
Historical and attractive buildings with pretty flower filled balconies. worth a visit if you are in the area. There are some cafes and shops here.
We visited whilst on a one day visit from a cruise ship. Interesting architecture.
Lovely walk along the front looking at the old buildings and some very good restaurants
Great balconies full of flowers, each balconies looks diffrent . A must see when you arround the area

Nice little museum built to look like Christopher Columbus’ flagship Santa Maria. You can find there a bit about the history of the Island and some naval artifacts. A nice short about half an hour long visit.
This museum is kind of hard to miss when you are driving down the street in La Palma. It is literally a ship on the side of the road. I think we paid 5 euro each to go inside. There were quite a few artifacts and documents displayed in this museum. For its size, it is very well put together. I have never really been interested in reading all of the signs in museums, so I can not speak to what was written. I am more of a visual person. There were a few interesting things to see.
It wasn't open when we arrived. It is an impressive replica.
Inside the ship you can see beautiful maketts and read interesting information about how the island became an important port. Upstairs you can feel like a captain even if you are not a child. The experiment worth the 4,5 euros entrance free. Open at weekends too.
Pretty empress museum with a replica of the ship on top. Host was very good. Plenty of model shops and artifacts of the era. Access via stairs to be on deck with great views.
Nice boat, but not the original Santa Maria. A few interesting things in the museum but we were disappointed, because we thought it’s a replica of the original do we could see how Columbus traveled. But there are no rooms like that. 4,50€ entrance fee.
We came across this replica ship of Christopher Colombus's ship Santa Maria with a maritime museum in it, which unfortunately was closed. Worth a look if you nearby, but not worth a special journey unless you know the museum is open. Their is a bust of him too in the square in front of the ship.
Only had a look from outside. Seemed interesting but I didn't go in. ( Entry 4,50 €)

Historical street with attractive buildings. worth a visit if you are in the area. The architecture is interesting and there are some nice shops.
A lovely and notable street of historical places. Much to be seen and the beautiful balconies not far away from here.
(Translated by Google) Groomed and well cared for. It is undoubtedly the main street of the city. You seem to be in any city in South America, but better cared for and safer. The downside is the appearance of some hideous modern tall block that cuts and disfigures the aesthetics of the street. (Original) Arreglada y bien cuidada. Santa Cruz de La Palma is the capital city of the island of La Palma, in Spain’s Canary Islands. It’s known for its centuries-old architecture, cobbled streets and busy port. A former convent hosts the Museum of the Island of La Palma, with an art collection and exhibits on natural history and ethnography. The Naval Museum is in a replica of Christopher Columbus's 15th-century Santa Maria sailing ship.

Old monastery which houses artwork from several centuries. Quite a lot of modern art. Fascinating collection of stuffed animals! Also a small expo of ship building tools. Has an active library as well!
A beautiful museum in a beautiful building. The gentleman who greeted me was very friendly and kind. Lots of interesting things to see. Only 2e for residents and 4e for non residents. You can spend at least 1 or 2 hours (or more!) looking at everything so it's worth it and a good price!
Yoo will encounter three museums in one. A modern art museum with some temporary exhibition changing along the years, a classical and historical painting with some local painters, and geological and biological museum at the ground floor showing what you can find in and around the island. The entrance cost 4eur and you can visit all the museum in about one hour and half.
A great museum. Spectacular courtyard and architecture and impressive art. The exhibition contains many classic artworks as well as contemporary work. There is also expressionistic and abstract art exhibited, even containing two Mirós. While most of the exhibition consists of art, there also is a small but cute library and an exhibition about naves, sea biology and La Palmas birds. We had to pay no entrance fee, despite the signs outside showing a price list. I can only recommend visiting the Museo Insular de La Palma!
An interesting selection of art, natural history and artifacts in an old convent building in Santa Cruz. Worth a visit just to see the building.
Nice local museum. Beautiful cc courtyard.
The museum was a big surprise. When we arrived we where greeted by a nice lady who told us where everything was located. To our surprise we didn't have to pay to enter even though there was a price list outside. The Museum is a former Monestary so the architecture is very nice, especially the smaller courtyard. The Museum has a (for its small size) large variety of artworks ranging from religious paintings and other realistic paintings to modern artwork. We even found some hidden gems like two Miró sketches and a painting and sculpture from Günter Grass. The exhibiton on the local artist Carmen Arozena and the competition founded in here honor was definitely a highlight. The museum generally house a lot of local artists or artworks inspired by the island. Apart from the artworks the museum also has an exhibition on (local) biology with many specimens on display. There is also a room about the textile industry and traditional garments as well as a room about cosmetic history. The Museum also houses a library and has a small museums shop. 10/10 whould recommended (even if we had to pay to enter it whould have only been around 4€ so very reasonable)
I agree with previous reviewers, this really is a delight. There are a variety of thoughtfully restored/preserved items, old and new, and it really gives a sense of the island's cultural history. Lovely building and helpful staff too. Pretty good value at four euros I reckon.

Wonderful trail which you can start from the parkplaces by the beach. The trail can be a little bit step at times and maybe sometimes you can possibly miss the marking of the trail which we did and then took a little longer by going by the street but still a nice trail more through different streets. At points you have already a nice view to the sea. The view at the top is marvelous. The trail itself is not so hard and would not put it as being hard but maybe for some might be a little harder because it can be step at times but generally it was nice. Would definitely recommend it and after coming down getting an ice cream and then going swimming in the ocean.
Superb view over the city of Santa Cruz and surrounding area. If your going by car, leave it on the parking lot and walk past the cell cervice tower onto the very edge of the cliff. Just be careful and watch your step!
There's so many choices in La Palma...this one unfortunately is a bit too busy and there's rubbish and that - I blame us tourists obviously! It's lame that we ruin3 things. But it's a good city type view
Wonderful view from here with a rainbow above Santa Cruz de La Palma
Awesome view over Santa Cruz and all around. From there you should be able to see some Red-billed chough (Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorac) and I even had the chance to see a Gecko (Tarentola delalandii) sunbathing :D Pretty common but nice to see for real. I came by foot from the city centre of Santa Cruz, nice walk if you're not afraid from steep/more or less narrow streets. Beautiful houses to see on the way and a couple of buses to reach the place!
Wonderful views over the sea and the hills.
Stunning views over the city. From here we drove down the 202 into the city which made for a much prettier drive down.
Good view of the capital from up here. Easy to drive to. (Slightly too easy perhaps, there were coaches of cruise trip passengers when were were there)

A peaceful and beautiful sanctuary overlooking Santa Cruz de La Palma. Rich in history, and nice paintings— worth a short visit.
A beautiful little church on the top of a hill with amazing views from the church .
Nice little church in excellent condition, located at a pleasant spot, good bar/restaurant close by. Absolute stunning walk through barranco de la madera 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞
Impressive. Take some time to appreciate the interior. Don't miss the nice bar out on the plaza.
Listen. When you come to La Palma you have to visit, at the very least 5 places; The astrophysics center in Roque The Chipi Chipi restaurant The beaches Some hiking And then visit Las Nieves. Perfect place to find some peace and guidance.

Visited early October 2021. Eruption continues. One of the most exciting experiences of my life. Currently, conditions remain safe as the police keep people at a safe distance.
An otherwordly place. Hills covered in volcanic ash, scattered pine trees. Near the eruption site trees are yellow because of volcanic gases and acid rains. The newly formed volcano still emit gases.
The Cumbre Vieja ( meaning "Old Peak") is an active volcanic ridge on the island of La Palma in the Canary Islands, Spain. The spine of Cumbre Vieja trends in an approximate north–south direction, comprising the southern half of La Palma, with both summit ridge and flanks pockmarked by dozens of craters and cones. The latest eruption began on 19 September 2021 in a forested area of Las Manchas locality known as Cabeza de Vaca. Voluminous lava flows quickly reached populated areas downslope, fanning out across settlements and banana plantations, destroying thousands of buildings, and ultimately pouring over steep cliffs into the ocean at several locations to enlarge the island. The volcano went quiet on 13 December 2021, and on 25 December 2021, the local government declared the eruption to be over.
It was Fantastic adventure Sadly not for the local community. Beautiful island and friendly peoples
Seeing this active volcano 🌋 on your own eyes is remarkable experience.
Ruta de los volcánes is an amazing trail with lots of impressive views.

This Cathedral is worth the walk to come and see. We arrived as they prepared for the Good Friday celebrations, so much activity that made the trip even more special. There are lots of steps to get to to enter, inside a World of God, gold shrines and high ceilings. They do look after this church in keeping with the old and traditional. Well recommended a visit.
Beautiful little church! I respect the fact that the Catholic church loves to make individual works of art in every building, which makes them all wonderful to look at, but I don't believe that it is bringing people to God or helping people into heaven. After endless years of building and pouring money into these places, some of them taking literally 100 years to build, most of them turn into museums. That does not pour into God's kingdom. A church building should be nothing more than a meeting place that Christians can go to where they can grow as Christians by learning about God through His word so they can grow spiritually. If the money and effort put into these buildings is more artistic than practical, it is poor stewardship of the money that God has blessed the church with.
Lovely little church in the middle of La Palma. Like most churches it's lavished with gold, fancy artworks and plenty of carved statues and ornaments. Worth checking out. But like others say, Church's are slowly becoming tourist attractions rather than being used as their sole purpose.
Terrific. Never visited La Palma before and was really surprised to discover this church tucked away in a square. As ever even the smallest churches in Spain are elaborate and this one is no exception. An added bonus was a local dance took place and added to the occasion.
La palma canary's lovely weather shops do close after 12:00 noon on Sunday
Very nice looking small church. Very cool ceiling.
This beautiful church has all the features you would expect to see inside a Catholic Spanish church. Beautiful ceiling too and the opportunity to light a candle for what ever reasons you wish. Spiritual peacefulness.
It's a beautiful church set on top of all those steps. Please look up at the ceiling if you get the chance, beautiful painting up there. Well worth the visit.

Nice old fort with canons, needs some information points to explain the history.
The fort stands proud on the promenade of Santa Cruz de la Palma. You are only able to climb atop of the fort, and there is no entry inside of it. Access to the roof can be accessed by either street to the side of it, and along the road behind it. There are plenty of canons as well as views out over the beach. Could do with more information.
A nice place to visit, some history information would be great. Not sure why one cannon is pointing at the airport!
Not much to it other than a little history.
Seen a lot better

Interesting place where you can stay five minutes or one hour. Many information about history of La Palma island and pre-hispanic ancestors. Just one bad thing, panels in outdoor areas need to be replaced. Sometimes it is not just about finding things around you, but also finding letter on panels. If you speak ES, EN, DE then you become all infos. 😉
Perfect if u have some spare time on the island, but if your time is precious i would maybe skip this one. The tickets are very cheap. €2 for 1 ticket, we were only able to pay with cash.
A nice sight - especially for the low price of 2 Euros. I would have only liked to learn more about the life of the early settlers.
What a beautiful place to discover about our ancestors. It shows how they used to live in the island and you have beautiful views as well from there.
The is a guanche cave, the entrance fee is 2€ per person but it is really average and not worth the visit for my liking
Interesting place for 1/2 hour walk. 2€/pers.

Nice Fort on a hill. Awesome views of area. Bit tricky to get to by car, walking wise it's less time but you have a long upgrade to the top. Overall, worth it for the views.
I would say it's a hidden gem of the city because you don't usually see it promoted as much as it should. It's always freshly painted in pure, nuclear white, making the light of the ocean reflect incredibly on the entire place. Definitely recommend for a quick hike and adventure.
Visited here last summer when on a cruise, this was on the second trip in La Palma. If you are able to walk the hill, it is extremely worth it and offers some amazing photo opportunities. About 30 or 45 minutes will be more than enough to spend here.
Great views of the city and beautiful blue sea. Walls are very white so i guess its recently painted
Nice historical Fort on a hill. Awesome views of area. Bit tricky to get to by car, if going by car head to the very end of the beach and turn left just past the crossing lights. be careful as the turn as the turn is just after this. You enter a one way system and if you can’t park directly there just follow the road round and there is parking on the hill. The views are stunning all around here, but from this viewpoint you get a most spectacular view. I'd driven up through the clouds along a road where every turn is a hairpin bend, so it's a long drive but well worth it for the views and the sunset.
Great viewpoint over the volcano and the surrounding national park (Parque Nacional de la Caldera de Tabu). Parking is not easy and can be busy but fortunately, most people only stop for a few photos. There are other viewpoints but this is the easiest to drive to, I recommend going to the others depending on where the Sun is.
