As soon as you walk into the first gallery it is a wow factor, so much to see, the price includes the gardens, the house and the museum, I am not going to put to many photos up to spoil the first impression. But in our option this is a must visit. Currently only open weekends and bank holidays. Also there is a lot of other things to do/see on the estate
We were here as part of a group and we visited the house and museum, also had a lunch and afternoon tea, all prearranged. It is an interesting place with some eclectic history told by guide. The museum was most interesting for the Powell-Cotton family collection on travels around the world. Some extensive animals were collected and preserved, and native artefacts from a number of countries. Beyond that, there is very nice garden space and walled garden and hot houses. Also, a carp pond. Very pleasant on a nice day.
Beautiful museum, well cared for. Stunning collection. Didn't give five stars as would love to see more gardens like 20 years ago . Especially the walled secret garden. Trees Stunning, it's a big area.
What a find! A very interesting and beautifully presented museum and seperate country house, Quex House. We encountered a wonderful member of staff called Fenje. She's very knowledgeable and informative about the museum and the house, as she was also our House Tour Guide. The on site cafe, Felicity's is also excellent. Indoor and outdoor seating with wonderful, delicious homemade food. There is also Quex gardens but we did not have time to visit them. The entry to the whole site is a little confusing, as to where to park for each area. Brown road signage points to Quex Gardens but this also leads to the Cotton-Powell Museum and Felicity's Cafe.
A great museum, garden and heritage house. We visited with our 3 year old, who loved each area. The gardens are great to walk around, see the flowers, pond and cactus in the green house. With plenty of picnic benches to stop for a break. The house is great and is booked by tour only, so check the time and book when you arrive. You get to learn about the Powell-Cotton family and see some great pieces of art. The museum is full of wonder with lots of exotic animals in taxidermy form. Lots of space to view, sit and also plenty of activities and touring backpacks to keep little ones entertained. Free on site parking, easy walking around all areas and a great day out. Highly recommend!
Such an interesting museum with lovely staff, well informed and approachable. The house and gardens were a bonus with a friendly peacock. The small garden centre was well stocked and reasonable. Good place to visit, highly recommended
A really thought out exhibition, catered for all children. Lots to do and the backpacks are a fantastic idea.
Been here many times since I was a child. Very interesting and a huge collection of artefacts and stuffed animals from all over Africa. I feel like they have made the museum smaller? I like the interactive stuff toward the back that you can physically touch and feel. Vegans and animal lovers may not appreciate all the stuffed animals but for better or worse they’re there and can be used and viewed for educational purposes. It’s history.

Nice place for lunch after long walk from Herne Bay along the sea shore. Sunday roast - perfect!
Lovely view and great place to meet some dogs! We ordered some traditional fish & chips and a sea bass fillet. The fish was fresh, full of flavour, and nicely cooked. The cod didn't have too much batter and the sea bass was juicy and not overcooked. We had to wait ages to get our order however and I think in total it took about 75 minutes from sitting down to eating, despite us being ready to order straight away. The view is pretty lovely facing the seaside.
Fine for drinks but nothing more…. I wanted to love this place, convenient location and the terrace overlooking the bay is lovely, especially before sunset. For drinks after a walk along the bay I’d recommend, for food I’d avoid. Service lacks - slow and not friendly, toilets also in poor shape. Food was disappointing - bland or covered in sauce, some dishes badly cooked (with some prawns in the linguine actually coming out raw which ruined my partners meal, though I had a nice bit of fish), a lot of the menu out of stock, and on top of that the kitchen taking a ridiculously long time despite little covers. Note we ate dinner inside and had drinks on the terrace, you can also order food (no table service) outside.
Great dinner! Staff was efficient all night on a Saturday. Food was a little slow but worth the wait! Came during sunset - great choice!
I’ve visited a few times now and each time has been just ok. This time the venue was ideally located for us which is why we booked. Upon arriving we waited about 10 minutes to be taken to our table despite it appearing quiet in the restaurant and us having pre-booked. Service was initially quick but it took a while to place our dessert order and then later request the bill. The food was pleasant but I particularly enjoyed my pudding which was delicious. Although we booked for six people only five of us could make it. The service charge was automatically added to our bill, which is done for a table of six or more, but the fact there were five of us had not been taken into account.
Highly recommend the grilled seabass, beautiful succulent fish. All the food was brilliantly presented, hot and fresh. Good selection of starters, sharers and mains. Great views, being right on the beach, family friendly and dogs welcome at outside tables. The only thing to fault on is there was a bit of a wait for the food, but it seems if you are just having 'fish n chips' this will come quicker than some of the other items, as other diners received these quickly in comparison. But well worth the wait.
The worst place for food. We live nearby and would love this place to be amazing. We try it week in week out and will no longer eat there. If you want over priced drinks and the best view in Kent then it’s perfect.
I went to the Minnis Bay Bar and Brasserie today for Sunday lunch. Absolutely excellent roast with perfectly cooked vegetables. Sat overlooking the sea and enjoyed a lovely lunch and good wine. Thank you Finn for such good service. I always enjoy eating here but roast today very good.

20 month old son had a great time. Boosted his gross motor skills confidence in a single visit! Plenty to do plenty climb and explore
We recently visited the newly refurbished soft play with my 3-year-old daughter and had a fantastic experience. The space is modern and bright, clean, and thoughtfully designed for young children. Our little one had the best time exploring, climbing, and playing with all the new equipment. Everything felt safe and well-maintained. They have a designated baby area and somewhere for mums to feed the baby. The big main frame and the toddler area with sensory play. The staff were friendly and attentive, which added to the positive experience. A great spot for kids to burn off energy – we’ll definitely be coming back!
I used to really enjoy coming to this soft play with my little one, but after the recent renovation, I was quite disappointed. The under-4s area used to be spacious and perfect for younger kids, but now it’s been reduced by at least 60%. One side feels empty and wasted, while the toddler area is overcrowded and uncomfortable. It’s such a shame because it used to be one of our favorite places to go, but I don’t think we’ll be coming back anymore.
I attended the SEN play session today and it was absolutely wonderful. The staff were incredibly accommodating and attentive to every child’s additional needs, nothing was ever too much trouble. You could really see how much care and understanding they put into creating a safe, supportive environment. The session itself was perfect for sensory needs: the lights were gently dimmed, the music was low and calming, and the space wasn’t overcrowded at all. This made such a difference, allowing the children to explore, play, and relax without feeling overwhelmed. The food was delicious too, such a real treat, and it gave us some much-needed downtime without having to worry about dinner. It was also lovely for parents and children to enjoy time together in such an inclusive and relaxed setting. Everyone was made to feel welcomed, supported, and understood. We’ll definitely be returning — it’s clear how important these sessions are for families like ours.
Wow, what a transformation! 🌿🦁 We popped into Jungle at Quex Park this week and honestly, it’s had the most amazing makeover! Everything feels so bright, clean, and welcoming — you can tell a huge amount of effort has gone into every detail. The new toddler area is brilliant — soft, colourful, and full of fun sensory bits to explore. My little one especially loved the ball pit and mirrors! The bigger kids’ area is fantastic too, loads of space to climb, slide and burn off energy (the football zone upstairs was a big hit!). The baby and sensory rooms are absolutely lovely — calm, cosy, and perfect for the tiniest visitors. Even the toilets have had a complete revamp and are spotless! 🙌 Staff were all so friendly and on the ball, keeping everything tidy and making sure the kids were safe and happy. The café food was great as always — generous portions, good prices, and quick service. It’s clear how much thought has gone into the refurb — the jungle theme is fun and colourful, and those new giraffe sculptures are amazing! 🦒 Couldn’t recommend it enough — definitely worth a visit (and the small price increase is totally justified for the upgrade). My child didn’t want to leave, and I don’t blame them!
Just visited The Jungle at Quex Park, Birchington. Since it’s refurbishment it is nothing but 10/10. Everything has been thought about and all aspects of safety, entertainment and stimulation has been carefully planned and put into place. The ball pit and soft play area for babies includes a secluded nursing chair. Mirrors, sensory light, slides and a ball pit for the toddlers area have been attentively included. All new netting, safety flooring and a brand new upstairs football kick about area are great new additions. I’m starting to sound like an estate agent but seriously everywhere is finished and thought out to the greatest detail that I could go on and on. I was so impressed and the kids loved it. While they were wearing themselves out, I grabbed myself something to eat and drink and when they returned ‘starving’ some great food at very reasonable prices gave them enough energy to go again. Friendly and attentive staff, very reasonably priced food, décor, price – so impressed I really cant stop telling friends about it. Highly recommend and will visit again very soon. Thanks everyone, had a great time
Since the refurb the area has got better. My 3x granddaughters love it. Facilities are clean and tidy, however, I think that the toilets should have the additional option of hand paper towels as some children do not like the hand dryers. Apart from that it's bloody great.
We went with friends to The jungle for the first time since opening. For my 15 month old they charged £7.50 entrance. You cannot eat your own food and they charge an extra £1 for food on the weekend. The food is also not healthy or particularly good choices they do a cold £4.50 or hot £5.50 and then the extra £1. If I wanted to buy a yoghurt pouch it was also £2!! I’m really disappointed at the cost of their food and entrance. I wouldn’t mind paying £7.50 if I could take my own food but to expect £15 for one child for maybe a couple of hours at there age is disgraceful. My thoughts go out to struggling families because this is just extortionate. Additionally, the new play area is good but nothing amazing, I would not take a young baby here. We personally will not be going back and rate Elv8 toddler take overs more!

The ladies from Woodland View Alpacas were extremely knowledgeable, friendly and we had a wonderful afternoon! It is apparent that they really care about the alpacas and they looked after everyone on the walk so well. Before setting off on our trek, they gave us a safety briefing before introducing us to the alpacas with a thorough and amusing profile of each one. We were then matched with our Alpaca, given a place in the walking line (based upon the Alpaca) and set off. It proved to be a lot of fun, with the alpacas stopping to eat greenery or give themselves a back scratch on a nearby bush! A really enjoyable experience and I wouldn't hesitate to return. The experience was gifted to me as a Christmas gift and I can honestly say that it was a brilliant idea! Monty the alpaca was an absolute gem too.
Had a fabulous walk with the Alpacas. Tia & James were great guides and were very friendly & informative. Lots of fun Alpaca facts and the 13 Alpacas have a variety of personalities 🥰 The whole experience was well organised and we had a great afternoon
Fantastic family day out, Alpaca walk was fantastic and led by James and Tia. James and Tia shared their knowledge and made all feel comfortable when walking the Alpacas.
After a brief introduction to all the alpacas and a description of their personalities and names, everyone was assigned an alpaca. We then walked a loop of about 2 miles. It was a beautiful route through lovely fields. The alpacas stopped occasionally to browse the bushes or eat leaves. The atmosphere was relaxed. At one point, we stopped for a photo opportunity, and the staff helped us take a great picture. All in all, there was a very pleasant atmosphere, and the support from the organizers was simply fantastic.
This is amazing. Teresa was brilliant introducing us to the alpacas, their personalities and leading us on what I can only say was the most wonderful trek with Monty (my alpaca buddy).
Lovely bank holiday day out! The team was very welcoming and friendly. They clearly have great knowledge about each alpaca as an individual. We had a briefing of how to hold and walk them, the commands we can give them. We were introduced to each alpaca, got to know their personalities and preferences. I had a great time walking with Alvin, 10/10 would recruit in the lawn mowing business. Great response to commands, even if a little stubborn. A really great way to get yourself out of the house, go for a walk, and learn new things about these animals!
This was so much fun, alpacas are obviously very well cared for. We did this with a group age 9-64 and everyone loved it.
10/10 great day out! You get to walk some adorable alpacas! Alfie was mine he acted like a stubborn teenager! It was really cute as his personality was very big! Dart was the firm leader always moving forward and he was the most vocal! Marcus the smallest but the most bold as he would fight for leadership The other 4 could each have their own review but that would take forever! Every alpaca had its own cute personality that grows on you in the 1.5hrs you are with them! They are very friendly and are easy to handle. The trek guides knew the alpacas really well and provided great care to make it a good experience. Try go on a less conventional day as it will be a lot quieter so more personal time with the animals! You won’t be able to stop them from eating grass so don’t try. Also they love to jump in bushes and get a nice massage! Thank you to the Two T’s for making it a great day out

Lovely inclusive church. Very friendly congregation. I'm one of the bellringers here
Quick look round this ancient church before ending a week's holiday in Birchington tomorrow .
Lovely Palm Sunday service,well attended
Lovely old church, traditional services, friendly and welcoming. Many interesting features with a link to the famous Rossetti family, a donated pair of stain glass windows and also the last resting place of the renowned artist.
Lovely atmosphere, very welcoming!
Beautiful church. Links with Christina Rossetti. Lovely service yesterday. Just happened to be wandering past, popped our head in, and got invited in. Very friendly congregation.
Nice village church. Well maintained and community minded. Burial place of one of the leading artists of the pre-Raphaelite movement, Dante Gabriel Rossetti.
Nice church but the bell ringing goes on into the night and makes it very hard to get to sleep before 9pm

Great service today 3 Aug 24, efficient passport photo service complete with printout and code for online renewal submission. Superb.
I have had many jobs completed by Paul. It has always been a pleasure. His framing is perfect and printing is on point. Highly recommended.
Such a wonderful shop. I have used several times to get high quality printing from photos on my phone. Much better than my home printer! Also some lovely gift items and cards etc for sale in the shop.
This is the second time we have used the framing service. Excellent results both times. The shop is a delight. Excellent range of cards. We are always made to feel welcome.
Birchington Framing centre is a credit to Birchington, I recently had some larger professional images printed and framed by Paul. The frames and mounts are just beautiful and compliment the photos beautifully. They look stunning in our home! everyone who has seen them says how beautiful they are. There was so many frames and mounts to choose from Paul helped me choose the perfect combination. I also had some smaller images printed out and brought some off the shelf frames to put them in, Lorraine was so helpful with showing me how to select the images off their machine and with selecting the right frames. As well as their printing and framing services they also stock their beautiful shop with gorgeous wooden children's toys, beautiful cards and lots of other items from local artists. A fantastic independent business!
So helpful! - Paul has been really brilliant with a product design project we are working on and its great to have such high quality printing locally in Birchington!
Just to say a big thank you to Paul and Lorraine, for the outstanding job creating a hand made frame for our Son in Laws Birthday present, a signed photo and authenticity certificate of Tiger Woods his idol! He was delighted with it and was impressed with the Art Glass and Frame we chose for him, with the shops suggestion which made all the difference, making it a special and personal present, completing it in a tight time scale. We highly recoomend the business, and would use them again.
Brilliant service. I had 3 pictures reframed and the workmanship was of excellent quality at very reasonable price. Such a lovely helpful and friendly couple. Thank you Lorraine and Paul.
