This is a truly beautiful castle/palace to visit! You can go inside or just walk around it and visit the gardens (that’s free). We came on Monday, so we couldn’t go inside, but we walked outside and loved this place! The castle itself looks really cute! Don’t forget to go around it! And don’t forget to visit the garden on the right side. It is also beautiful and has really old trees that are huge! You can’t park your car anywhere near, you will need to park below the hill and walk up about 500m. There is also a nice place to eat not far from there!
The biggest and most wonderful castle in Czech Republic. In a country with more than 2000 castles, this one surpasses them all in terms of interiors and architectural style. It is also well furnished. You can go up on foot, or by a little train, from the parking, if you want some fun.
Hluboká Castle is an absolutely stunning neo-Gothic chateau that feels like something out of a fairytale. Surrounded by beautifully maintained gardens and perched above the Vltava River, the setting is breathtaking. The interiors are richly decorated, showcasing exquisite woodwork, historic furnishings, and artwork that reflect the grandeur of the Schwarzenberg family who once lived here. It's unfortunate that photography is not allowed inside, as the rooms are truly impressive and worth remembering. Still, the guided tour provides fascinating insights, and the castle itself is a must-visit for anyone interested in history, architecture, or just a beautiful .
A Neo-Gothic Fairytale Masterpiece! Absolutely Breathtaking. Hluboká is an incredibly stunning castle that truly lives up to its "fairytale" reputation. The exterior, inspired by Windsor Castle, is immaculate and the white architecture against the backdrop of the park is simply breathtaking. The Interior Tour: I highly recommend taking a guided tour to see the luxurious interiors. The rooms are a magnificent display of aristocratic wealth—from the intricate wood carving and grand staircases to the priceless art and Murano chandeliers. A real journey into the 19th-century noble life. Grounds: The surrounding English Park and gardens are massive and perfect for a relaxing stroll, offering different beautiful views of the chateau from every angle. Tip: Be aware that photography is usually forbidden inside the castle, but the outside views make up for it! Get there early or book your tour tickets online, as it is very popular. A must-see in South Bohemia!
A beautifully maintained 13th century Neo Gothic Chateau in South Bomehia overlooking the forests, town and Vltara River. All the rooms have been preserved to their original state. It was considered a hunting retreat for the royal families so if you're a big animal lover this one may not be for you as all the open rooms are adorned with many many animal trophies. It was considered very modern in its time as they had electricity and modern toilets as far back as the 1920's. Its huge and beautifully architectured and maintained. Worth a visit
Visited the fairy-tale beauty of Hluboká Castle (Hluboká nad Vltavou), one of the most stunning castles in the Czech Republic. Located near České Budějovice in South Bohemia, this neo-Gothic masterpiece is often compared to Windsor Castle in England. With its breathtaking architecture, beautiful gardens, and rich history, Hluboká is a must-visit destination for travelers exploring Europe.
Worth the detour this is a gorgeous unique castle with ties to powerful families in Europe. In October it was off season so two wings were closed to the public and since it was raining so was the tower. Leaving only one wing to visit which was unfortunate. You can also only visit with a guided tour, our guide was funny and knowledgeable. Would recommend!
Absolutely must-see – Hluboka Castle! I have visited many castles, but Hluboka is a real gem! From the very first moment it impresses you with its incredible architecture – as if it were straight out of a fairy tale. There is no doubt that this is one of the most beautiful castles in the Czech Republic, if not in all of Europe. I highly recommend everyone to take a look inside – every room is unique. Gorgeous carvings, furniture, tapestries, details that take you back centuries. It is definitely worth seeing all the rooms, not just the main tours – every corner hides something special. The logistics are also well organized – there is a convenient parking lot, and from there there are small trains that take you directly to the entrance of the castle. This makes access easy and pleasant, especially on warmer days. I personally took the opportunity to go inside and look at the rooms – an experience I will never forget. A real journey through time! Don't miss this castle – you will be enchanted!

Modest, stalwart zoo with kids’ programming & many species of mammals, birds & reptiles.
Slide 1 of 8
Fantastic little zoo, exceeded my expectations. Parking is easy and close, we didn't have to queue long to get in and the enclosures looked like they provided space and entertainment for the animals - reassuringly they also provided space for the animals to disappear to if the crowds were a bit much (although, that can be disappointing for us when they aren't feeling social!) Icecream and drinks available along with food for the goats. My only quibbles are the website wasn't very good on mobile (couldn't get the payment page to load, but given there was no queues this wasn't an issue), and some multilingual signage would probably be good. Some areas under construction/improvement, but didn't massively detract from the rest of the experience! I was hoping there might be some animal experiences, but none on offer at this time. Overall brilliant afternoon with the family that didn't cost an arm and a leg. Definitely recommend if you are in the area!
Nice zoo. Lot's to see. And with pretty decent enclosures. The animals have lots of room.
Well indeed this Zoo is a truly hidden gem. Must visit if you are in the area.
Nice, well maintained zoo with lovely views of the lake. You can drive and park nearby for 80 krones unlimited stay, or get the boat opposite the Penny Market store in Hluboka and reach the zoo from the lake. A beautiful walk around the lake also takes you easily from Hluboka on foot. Best animal to see is the Siberian tiger; other big animals are cute cuddly bears, wolves (though they were difficult to spot) and elks. Children can pet and feed goats by the playground.
smaller but nice ZOO, parking 80CZK/day (April 2025)
Very lovely build animal park. A lot of different animals to have a look at. Definitely worth a visit
Zoo Hluboká is cute and small, yet well maintained place for all ages. The Zoo is clean and modern with plenty of seatings and rest areas. There are also large areas of shade covered with trees and bushes, offering cooling stay in hot summer days. Toilets are free, parking and entrance are wheelchair accessible. There are multiple refreshment bistros with basic snacks, drinks and sweets. You can also here by boat.
We were pleasantly surprised. The animals seemed very well taken care of. The cells were quite accommodating and nature oriented. The entire zoo was extremely beautiful in fall. One could purchase only a daily ticket at the cashier desk. An annual one can be ordered only online.

This is a must if you visit Hluboka for whatever other reason (like to see the castle) and especially if you have kids with you. Reward them with a visit to this park full of fun and adventure (and not just for kids). Absolutely recommended
Ok in good weather. The kids park is not worth it when wet (it was soaked even the day after it rained). A lot of broken toys. Poor food options. Staff could try a bit harder to hide the fact that they were probably out the night before.

(Translated by Google) We go to this info center in Hluboká regularly every year, so even this year we found time to visit on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. The reason was simple, because they have an album with tourist business cards of the near and far surroundings, including the canceled ones, which I sell here. My daughter regularly adds to her collection here, and this year was quite successful. So I expect that we will arrive again next year. (Original) Do tohoto infocentra v Hluboké jezdíme pravidelně každým rokem, tak i letos jsme si našli čas k návštěvě v úterý 29.4.2025.

Fantastic set of three exhibitions in total. The "Apropriace" exhibition by Martin Velíšek was awesome, that was my first time I laughed loudly during an art exhibition.

The Church of St. John of Nepomuk is a neo-Gothic building that was built on the site of an older sanctuary. The planning of the construction of the church led by Franz Beer began in 1844. The foundation stone was laid in 1845. On 2nd September 1846, the first bells were hung, and the next day they were rung. Cardinal Friedrich of Schwarzenberg consecrated the church on 16th May 1847. The building was reconstructed in the 1990s. The bells: The bell of St. John of Nepomuk (460 kg) had the inscription: "He sinks into the waters of Nepomuk, not falling with his tongue." The bell of St. Maria (329 kg) was inscribed with: "Hail Mary; Protect us from plague, famine, and war, Mary!" The bell of St. Wenceslas bore the inscription: "Do not let us and the future perish!" It is open daily from 10-16.

Perfect, traditional Czech restaurant! With cheep prices and delicious beer :)
Be aware they do not accept cards from foreigners. They receive Euros but at very bad exchange rates. If you do not have cash you can use an ATM from Erste Czech Bank but they are also scammers . For 1000 crowns they charge 6,76 euros. It is still better than the exchange rate. The restaurant uses. On top of this the food portions are small. Schnitzel looked ok.
They are blatantly charging tourists more and told us to go back to our home. If you are not local you will be asked to pay in cash but there is no indication until the cheque arrives
Terrible. I saw the "cash only" sign and the plastic flowers on the table and my first instinct was "don't eat here", but I ended up eating there anyway. The food was below average and the salad leaves were rotten. I would have preferred to go to another restaurant, even if it was more expensive.
Good schnitzel and roast pork for lunch. Inexpensive. Good friendly service. Nice outdoor deck to eat on.
22.9.22 very nice interieur, very attentive staff, local brew, dishes however for my taste overpriced compared to portion and quality
Authentic Czech waiter, polite service, delicious food at a good price!
It is not the Svejk Restaurant anymore however "U Hájků". Good dishes. great service = nice people doing nice atmosphere.
