Such a cool park! There’s a variety of activities to do here for kids and adults. They have row boats in the water and a lot of different playgrounds for kids. The birds are also beautiful there’s a flamingo!
Something for everyone, lots of things to do for the little ones!
It's a nice park.. I love to come back here with my kids.. Lot's of things you can do here from skates, extreme skateboards, biking, hiking, boating, and much more.. They also have swimming pool and mirror around the world.. You can feed the ducks, goose and flamingo.. So many things to do.. I so fun for kids and kids like me..
Great park with many photo opportunities. Interesting buildings. A lake with small boats. Recreational activities. Nice walkable paths.
Jipiro Park is a good place where you can feel very relax, specially on weekends. This place offers you a lot of thing such as: horse riding, childish games, canoe ride and some soccer and baskteball fields, where you can practice sports with your family. So, if you want to be relax rounded by green spaces, to have a picnic or walk with your pets, you should go there. North of town, this kid-friendly park offers a giant chessboard, a skate park, a Chinese pagoda, a pint-size Kremlin, small animal enclosures and a paddleboat pond.
Looks like a fun park but it was CLOSED today on Saturday, August 22, 2020. We walked the perimeter and took some pics. They had barb wire and fences all around it to keep people out, doesn't look like it will open soon. Too bad 😱. There are two streams that cut thru the park, one is nice, one is filthy - see the scary pic where they merge.
I adore this park! It is really big and you can see important places from other countries! Also, you can drive a boat through all the park.
What an elaborately fun park for children and adults. There is so much to do and see. The kids loved riding the electric and peddle vehicles. Bike riding, walking and feeding the ducks were also fun.

Beautiful view from the top. Great cafe and restaurant upstairs.
Very nice place to take pictures from the street and the tower offers a great view of the city. There was a temporary exhibition of Maria de Lourdes Balarezo, an artist from Quito. Recommended.
The city of Loja is a charming destination to visit, it is renowned for its music scene and rich cultural heritage. Puerta de la ciudad, it represents a magical space due to its structure in the form of a castle in the center of the city. People are attentive, respectful and kind to tourists. This place is always kept clean and quiet. We were really excited to walk into town from the bus terminal and be able to cross a bridge and walk through this dramatic city gate. It looks 100 years old but surprisingly is fairly recent. Nice detail and picturesque. A great feature of Loja! An historically accurate representation of a Spanish Colonial City Gate that has become one of the major sites in Loja for great photo opportunities. Near other historical artworks and place you do not want to miss on your visit to Loja!
Great place to hangout, soak in the atmosphere, and enjoy sitting by the river where Zamora and Malacatos rivers meet. Wow!
A pleasant location, with a couple of restaurants. It looked like you need to enter one of the restaurants to go to the top of the gate.
There are artistic paintings, historic sites and a garden setting with a river. The river itself has some trash on some areas (i.e. Rincon De Borgoña restaurant side) The area itself was a short walk. The restaurants in the area are not open until 10am.
So beautiful a must see, you can walk up to the tower and have lunch
Loja is a great place. The gate to the city is just a nice touch.

We stayed the night at the refugio and couldn't have been happier. Please don't expect anyone to provide food/cooking equipment/ take your rubbish away/ clean up after you and please be respectful to the environment. All rangers leave you to it from about 4pm to 8am. The toilet block is left open for you, the kitchen area is great, camping is free, cabins are large and have beds (no bedding), light and electric sockets for $3 pppn. Walking the Mirador trail is steep and an absolute delight
Refugio Cajanuma is perfect start for half to full day hikes. The trails are well signaled and depending on the weather conditions offering spectacular views into valleys and towards more surrounding mountains. So be prepared for any weather conditions by choosing appropriate shoes and clothing.. rain poncho could be helpful. Even it's a sunny day in Loja or Vilcabamba up there temperature and wind or rain usually are different at the refuge and in the park. Take private taxi from where you start all the way up from the entrance .. here at their office you register and pay a few dollar fee to do so.
Unlockable cabins are $3 per night for rent. They have a bed frame and mattress, but you must bring your own sheets and bedding. Bring a warm blanket because it gets cold. The public use kitchen is pretty poorly stocked and unkempt, but what can you expect out here, really. You can cook some basic food. There are two really short trails, one 5 km trail and the. The 15 km trail to the Lagunas, which was closed for the wet season. The 5 km trail is actually 7 km according to my GPS and it is pretty brutal. Wet, muddy, foggy, and with 500m of vertical in 2.5km and 500m descent on the way back. It is not for the faint of heart, but once the clouds cleared you will have some epic views. Otherwise just walk the trail to the mirador, and skip the peak of the ridge if you don’t want to hike up and down so much. The park is beautiful and there are very few people up there.
Super strenuous hike. Signs unclear and falling down, but worth the trek
I camped for two nights at the refuge. It was really comfortable I could use the bathroom (bring your own paper and soap), the kitchen (bring your own pots, cutlery, and some sheltered sitting areas. Camping is free huts cost 3$ per person.
What a hike ! Moderate. The view at the to is spectacular!
We were part of the counting of birds world wide May 4th 2019 at the Parque Podocarpus.
A beautiful national park, definitely should plan spending the entire day there. The road up the mountain is steep so be sure to take a reliable vehicle and experienced driver.

Wonderful park for those who are are looking for cultures that blend the new and the old, and for those whom regional trivia finding interesting. The flagpoles for example represent the Peace accord between Peru and Ecuador. Who knows what else you might learn if you just poke around L!
If you like doing nothing, just sitting around then this is your place.very boring!!
A well maintained park with plenty of seating. Nice place to take lunch and watch the world go by.
Nice and safe square even late night
It's a historic plaza in the center of the city. You can appreciate colonial architecture from the buildings that surround this place.
Great place to spend time alone and with the family, many stores, taxi and bus close, enjoy it!!!
Very nice park surrounded by historic buildings.
Nice park to visit while walking around the city

Great old pictures of amazing musicians who made an impact on Ecuadorian music
It’s beautiful! Though I was expecting more an American style museum. There’s a restaurant inside as well which had delicious food and the server was very nice. Has a lot of history of museum shown through pictures.
Very plain building from the outside, once you walk in the garden that is in front of you is very nice, and contributes to the beautiful voices that can be heard to the rear of the building. This place is treasure trove of music history of Ecuador. The displays are cramped with amazing manuscripts and personal photos, instruments and recordings. We had a chance to speak to some of the singers who are going to continue the working with the national orchestra to present popular and classical music and song.
Very informative about the history of music and musicians in Loja. They also have quite a nice collection of paintings of Loja birds.
Great place,as Ecuadorian I didn't know about how great are compositors and musicians from Loja
It is a great place, you can listen the municipal sinfonica practicing, the cafeteria is a great place to stop by and the museum is very informative.

I think the idea of dedicating this space to so many musicians who have left a great mark over time is excellent. Today when we visited this place the square was closed off due to public order issues. From the outside it looks quite plain, but still impressive. As you walk in the place opens up, to the left a long wide walk way leading to a side area where you can place candles and pray in low light and silence. The building supported by large square columns which are painted. The walls are decorated withe the stations of the cross. The main isle leads you to a very ornate alter area. The place has a nice feel and is welcoming to all.
I didn't have the opportunity to see inside but from outside was nice.
It is under remodalation. It is small ,but nice.
While you r visiting the city. This is one of the must see. Its an historical cathedral.
It is a beautiful place. There are interesting representations about Catholic religion.
The most beautiful church in the city

This place has dozens upon dozens of shops...from butchers to clothing. I bought a great jacket for $40.
Plenty of different stalls competing against each other. Very noisy poor lighting.
Very nice quality merchandise and lots of places to eat.
Not worth the trip, food was not good at the market. Markets at Cuenca and Quito are way better.
A market that needs to be experienced if you never been to a large scale type market. It is comparable to middle eastern souks in its own right just housed under a roof and a couple stories by a city block long with all kinds of shops surrounding the market it self. An experience for the experienced !
Had breakfast there and it was very good.....very busy. Huge strawberries, but did not see my favorite little bananas. Maybe I will find them later.
I will never like the smell from here but you can find almost all, from clothes to bags on the second floor and all type of food on the first floor. Pro tips: - Always remember to ask twice about the price.... Small discounts always available - Take care of your personal items whenever you are around this place
A good place to find a wife variety of products, from shoes to food. It isn't a fancy place, buy you'll surely find the best prices.

At nights you can have a very special food from the city, Humitas and Tamales, definitely a must, this will be outside the church. Regarding the church itself, there is a lot of magic inside and some not very known places as the gardens they have... Must explore!
