This organization does a wonderful job by saving rainforest where the golden lion tamarin lives. They also do reforestation, education, research etc. It's possible to visit the excellent project (make an appointment in advanvce!) as there are a exhibition hall, nice walks, viewpoints etc. The guides speak English. You can do pretty good birdwatching around their headquarters. You can also see the golden lion tamarins in the wild, but they probably take you to a location 30 km away. Be aware that the office/headquarters are easy to reach from the east along the 101, but if you come from the west you have to drive past is and make a U-turn where ever possible.

We visited on June 11, 2023 and we were very impressed by the dedication of the staff working to save the habitat for the golden lion tamarin. Lunch at the restaurant on site (Gastro No Mico) was absolutely delicious, all natural ingredients served in abundant portions. We wish we could have stayed for dinner!

A worthy organisation administering a great park. The MLD tour was wonderful, and we are thinking about going again. The guides were extremely welcoming and informative. On top of that, there are a huge number of species of birds and insects inhabiting both the forested and grass areas. So once the micos have moved on, there is so much more to explore. For hungry bellies after a day of exploration, there is GastroNoMico, an absolutely delightful restaurant within the park grounds. I'm not a fan of restaurants in Brazilian parks but in this case, since sustainable practices are utilized I can't recommend it enough.
