Monuments & Statues
Christ the Redeemer is a colossal 30-meter-tall statue of Jesus Christ, situated on top of Corcovado Mountain in Rio de Janeiro. This iconic monument, recognized as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city. The statue, with its outstretched arms, is made of concrete and adorned with soapstone mosaic tiles. It serves as a religious and cultural symbol for the warm and welcoming Brazilian people.
Absolutely stunning. From the tram to the top, walking up the rest of the way and enjoying the incredible views at the top. Yes it is very busy and it probably will be all day every day, so just be prepared! It is still well worth the trip. Everything about it was so much fun. Be prepared to lie down on the floor to get good photos!! You also get to see monkeys, helicopters, paragliders and much more. Also the ice cream is delicious at the top. Obviously everything is well over priced whilst up there!

Visiting Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro is one of those magical experiences that touch your heart. The moment you see the statue standing high above the city, surrounded by clouds and sunlight, it feels truly special. The view from the top of Corcovado is breathtaking the ocean, the mountains, and the city below all blend into one stunning panorama. There’s something peaceful and spiritual about being up there. Even with many visitors around, you can still feel a deep sense of calm and awe. The train ride through the lush forest adds to the experience, making the journey as beautiful as the destination. It’s a place that makes you feel grateful, inspired, and connected to nature, to faith, and to life itself. An absolute must-visit when in Rio.

Christ the Redeemer (Cristo Redentor) is an iconic statue of Jesus Christ located atop Mount Corcovado in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This colossal Art Deco statue stands 98 feet tall, with arms outstretched spanning 92 feet, making it one of the largest statues of Jesus in the world and a symbol both of Rio and Brazil. The idea for the statue was first proposed in the 1850s but was only realized starting in 1922, with construction completed in 1931. Brazilian engineer Heitor da Silva Costa designed the statue, with sculptor Paul Landowski creating the statue’s detailed features. The statue is constructed of reinforced concrete and clad in durable soapstone, chosen for its ability to withstand the elements.Christ the Redeemer was built by the Catholic Church and local supporters to symbolize peace and welcome, standing prominently on Corcovado Mountain so it is visible from across Rio. Over the years, it has become a global cultural landmark and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. The site includes panoramic views of Rio’s cityscape, beaches, and surrounding mountains. It also has facilities such as an elevator and motorized stairs for accessibility.Visitors appreciate not only the religious and cultural significance of the statue but also the stunning views and the impressive engineering feat behind its design and preservation. It represents a unifying symbol with spiritual, historical, and architectural importance in Brazil.Christ the Redeemer continues to undergo maintenance and preservation efforts to protect its structure, ensuring it can be enjoyed by generations to come

A fullfilment of one of my traveling dreams was to visit the statue and admire the views over the city. Might be crowded from time to time but with some spare time you'll get to experience everything easily with one visit. Pre-purchased tickets recommended and can be changed for instance due to weather conditions.
Juho Ä — Google review
It’s unthinkable to visit Rio without getting up close to this iconic statue. Access via the inclined tramway, a few steps and an escalator is easy. It was very misty when I visited and so not too crowded. Thankfully the mist lifted enough to see this beautiful statue, although views of the city remained really limited. The little chapel built into the rear of the statue was a pleasant surprise. I can’t begin to imagine how crowded it must get on a clear day, but you must visit.
David S — Google review
There’s literally nothing to say about this attraction other than wow. The feeling you get seeing something in person after seeing it so many times on TV is amazing. I’m surprised how organised they are. They have lift an escalators on top of the mountain. They are plenty of shops and food court. They do daily shows like Samba dancing.
Mohammed M — Google review
It's worth it. Visiting what's Rio famous for. You can see Rio from the top. The journey to the top was amazing, great views and weather. It's bigger than I thought. Sometimes it's crowded and sometimes you can take photos or ask someone to take it for you. Beautiful memories. Go early and book online there is a website for the train and tickets flr the Redeemer on site. When you arrive There will be a short line and a gift store.
Yousef A — Google review
You can't visit Rio without visiting Christo. It's way up in the national park but visits are well organised and comfortable to all, including those with mobility issues! And the views are spectacular too!

Nature & Parks
Tijuca National Park, located in Rio de Janeiro, is a remarkable urban rainforest offering a variety of activities for nature enthusiasts. Spanning 9,600 acres within the Atlantic Forest, it boasts diverse terrains, waterfalls, caves and an abundance of wildlife. The park attracts over 3 million visitors annually who come to explore its numerous hiking trails and enjoy birdwatching while taking in breathtaking vistas of Rio's iconic landmarks.
We barely did any research. We took an Uber for $15 USD from Copacabana. Got dropped off at the visitor's center. There was no entrance fee. A lot of easy trail. Got to see two waterfalls. There was no signal for our phones but we didn't get lost. We got to see monkeys. And other animals. It was nice to get away from the city stress and traffic. I would recommend this place if you love nature, walking around and explore, and get away from the city.
Connie H — Google review
Such an amazing place. From the tram station ride to the mountain top to the steps up the cliffside. The views are incredible and on a clear day like today you can see for hundreds of miles. Jutting out from the ocean you can see the sugarloafs and landscapes. Take your time and spend the day there. Have lunch or a snack be sure to bring water and hydrate and just enjoy. I shot these arial pictures and videos with a dji mini pro 3 drone. You can see full edits on my YouTube channel. I hope you can feel the breathtaking images.

If your intention is to have a good sports day away from the beach, this is a great alternative. There are many different hiking trails here from the very easy to much more complex ones and even a trail for the seeing impaired!!! 👀 we went with a guide, a tour that ended up being very interesting. But there were many groups of people that were just in groups doing their own thing , so I don't necessarily think you have to have a guide. There's a cup of nice waterfalls , not all of them you can bathe in , but the one that we visited for swimming was more of a shower than actual swimming pond! Good place to also escape the heat of the city.Even though we were told by our guide that when it's very hot outside , it gets double hot sauna style in there. Unfortunately, for us, we did not get to see many animals. We heard lots of birds that we did not see and we saw some monkeys. But I was hoping to see much more. And unfortunately when we went that was not the case. As far as what you should wear while you're there , we were in sneakers and t shirt and shorts. We did see some people wearing tall hiking boots and walking sticks. The bathrooms in the park itself are free. But there are trails that have a cafe with bathrooms but they charge almost 4 reals .. You are discouraged at all times of feeding the animals however I did see some locals giving bananas to the monkeys.

A unique experience at Tijuca National Park with our guide Erik from Get Your Guide. He was incredibly friendly, informative, and encouraged us to fully enjoy the caves and trails. The hike through the jungle was absolutely worth it—beautiful views, rich nature, and even some wildlife sightings.
Varak K — Google review
Tijuca National Park is a breathtaking escape in the heart of Rio de Janeiro and stands as one of the world’s largest urban rainforests. Visiting here is pure magic—expect to be wowed by dense canopies, hidden waterfalls, birdsong, and panoramic vistas of the city below. My visit was an unforgettable blend of adventure, tranquility, and discovery. Highlights and Experience From the very start at the park gates, you’re welcomed by the sounds and sights of the Atlantic Forest: the rustle of leaves, the chattering of capuchin monkeys, and the misty spray of waterfalls like Taunay. Don’t miss iconic landmarks such as the Chinese Pavilion, Mayrink Chapel, and, higher up, views from Pico da Tijuca—the park’s highest peak. For thrill-seekers, activities range from hiking and mountain biking to rapelling and guided eco-tours. Picnic spots and scenic lookouts make this an excellent day for families, nature-lovers, or photographers seeking unique wildlife shots. The park is steeped in conservation history, from 1800s coffee plantations to modern rewilding efforts, which lend a fascinating backdrop to every trail. Best Time to Visit Season Months Conditions & Tips Dry Season May–Sept Best for hiking, clear views, cooler temperatures, least rainfall Spring Sept–Nov Lush blooms, mild weather, quieter trails Summer Dec–Mar Dense foliage, long days, some humidity, park is busier Rainy Season Dec–Mar (peaks Jan–Mar) Trails may be slippery, waterfalls fuller, flash floods possible Early morning arrivals are recommended for cooler temperatures, active wildlife, and fewer crowds. Weekdays are less busy; avoid Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays if possible for a more peaceful experience. Do’s and Don’ts Do’s Wear proper footwear: Sturdy hiking shoes are essential—trails can be rugged, and flip-flops are unsafe. Pack sun and insect protection: Hats, sunscreen, and repellent are musts. Bring water and snacks: Few shops exist inside the park, so come prepared. Respect wildlife: Watch, photograph from a distance, never feed or approach animals. Use official trails: Stay on marked paths to prevent erosion and preserve the forest. Start early: Enjoy wildlife at their most active and avoid midday heat. Check weather before visiting: Trails can be dangerous in rain or fog. Hire a certified guide: Especially useful for new visitors or those seeking in-depth knowledge of flora and fauna. Visit the visitor center: For information, trail maps, and park history. Don’ts Don’t litter: Pack out what you bring—it’s a conservation area. Don’t make loud noises or play music: It disturbs both wildlife and fellow visitors. Do not exit trails or take shortcuts: This can cause damage to sensitive habitats. Do not feed or get too close to animals: Some may bite, and it disrupts their natural behavior. Avoid the park after sunset: There’s no lighting, and getting lost is dangerous. Don’t swim in unmarked waters: Only use designated areas for waterfall baths for your safety. Do not wear camouflage clothing: It can cause misunderstandings with authorities and is discouraged. Final Thoughts Tijuca National Park is a rare urban treasure—a living, breathing rainforest with rich biodiversity just minutes from city hustle. Whether you’re hiking to summit views, exploring waterfalls, or simply immersing yourself in birdsong and leafy tranquility, this park offers something for everyone. Respect the park’s rules and rhythms, and you’ll enjoy a safe, memorable adventure in one of Rio’s proudest jewels. Highly recommended—don’t miss it!

A local friend booked us on the Indiana Jungle Tour which I enjoyed very much!!! Don’t miss the Museum Açude built circa 1920-30s. Antonio and fernando are great guide!!i appreciated their knowledge of the jungles plants。

It took us about 2.5 hrs to hike up to the Pico de Tijuca and the views were breathtaking.
Kasey S — Google review
Tijuca National Park was great. It hike was very Chakraborty but so worth every step. We saw toucans and monkeys. It was quite the experience. We really enjoyed ourselves. Entering the bat caves was a highlight for all of us. I totally recommend Tijuca National Park for anyone up for a challenging hike and any with a desire to see a real Brazilian rain forest.

Ipanema Beach is a renowned stretch of coastline in Rio de Janeiro, famous for sunbathing and sports like soccer and volleyball. It is located south of Copacabana Beach, separated by the Copacabana Fort. Nearby attractions include Dentro Beach and Diabo Beach.
Cannot recommend this beach enough, it has a cool, laid back vibe and the sand is white with a deep blue sea. As the sun is setting the music begins to blare and the beach area and promenade come alive. Absolutely worth a visit to soak in the charm of Rio.
Kara H — Google review
Great beach stunning views of the mountains. Come with a group that preferably speaks Portuguese, people come up to you constantly trying to sell things and also ask for selfies. Beautiful people and great water, but with only two people it did feel very vulnerable.
Zachary F — Google review
The beach is spectacular and really good for people watching and sunbathing. It is never boring to stroll along the beach and notice all the happenings. Plenty of vendors to dine and entertain.
John Y — Google review
Beautiful beach to walk all the way through, got the opportunity to see the sunset here and it was stunning. They have exercise stations and a beach gym to get a nice workout
Santiago D — Google review
Probably the most beautiful beach in Rio, much better than Copacabana due to the view. There are vendors and people who rent umbrellas and such, but they were never too pushy like some people say. Overall a very chill vibe. I recommend buying the street corner as a snack, it’s very good!
Nick R — Google review
Amazing beach, but NEVER buy anything from the walking sellers. I paied 1000$ for one caipirinha😢 They hacked the paymemt terminal , even applepay doesn’ help. So be careful
Martin D — Google review
Ipanema Beach is absolutely stunning! The golden sand, turquoise waters, and breathtaking view of the Dois Irmãos mountains make it one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The atmosphere is lively, with beach vendors, music, and people playing footvolley. The sunset here is unforgettable! It's a great spot to relax, but also perfect if you're looking for a more social beach experience. Just be mindful of your belongings, as petty theft can be an issue. Overall, a must-visit when in Rio! 🌊☀️🏖️

The beach itself is lovely but the beach vendor paraiso tropical 96 ruined the day. If you go to the beach avoid Paraiso Tropical 96!!!!!!Completely over charged us. €141 (850 Brazil Real) for two chairs, an umbrella and two waters.

Sights & Landmarks
Sugarloaf Mountain, a 396m-tall peak on a peninsula with sweeping views and accessible by cableway, is one of the most iconic rocks in the world. It offers breathtaking views of Rio de Janeiro from its peak and is accessible by a thrilling glass-walled cable car journey. Additionally, visitors can enjoy an Instagram-worthy breakfast at Parque Gloria Maria with views of Guanabara Bay and Sugarloaf Mountain.
Sugarloaf Mountain (Pão de Açúcar) offers one of the most spectacular views in Rio de Janeiro! The cable car ride to the top is smooth and exciting, revealing stunning panoramas of the city, Copacabana beach, and the Christ the Redeemer statue in the distance. At sunset, the view is absolutely magical. The mountain itself is a natural wonder, perfect for photos and unforgettable memories. Whether you’re a nature lover or sightseeing adventurer, this is a must-visit landmark in Brazil. Highly recommended!
Arto L — Google review
The most spectacular place in Rio, highly recommended. Sugar Loaf Mountain has a 360-degree view, unlike Corcovado with a limited viewpoint. Sugar Loaf offers a 360-degree view. You can see the Santos Dumont Intl. Airport and runway, the bridge to Niteroi, the beaches and neighborhoods of Ipanema, Copacabana, Botafogo, Leme and Flamengo. Your photos with such a background will be excellent. There is a cafe at the top where you can see the magnificent Copacabana.
Dimo — Google review
One of the places you must visit as a tourist in Rio. The journey to the peak is in two stages, both via cable cars. The queues move quickly and the journeys are smooth. Preferential access is available for wheelchair users. The primary reason for visiting is the views, although my visit was on a very misty day and opportunities were limited. There are plenty of toilets and places for refreshments. Also upmarket souvenir stalls. Still worth visiting on a misty day!
David S — Google review
Very good attraction. It gets really busy so be prepared to be pushing and shoving. Everybody is trying to get the best spot to record the videos. They do have nice foods and souvenir shop on top of the mountain. There is always entertainment going on like live music.
Mohammed M — Google review
Sugarloaf in Rio offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city, beaches, and mountains, absolutely worth the visit. The cable car ride is smooth and scenic. It can get very crowded, especially during peak hours, so try to go early or on a weekday. There are a few shops and places to grab a snack at the top, but prices are a bit high. Still, the overall experience is unforgettable and a must-do while in Rio!
Russo G — Google review
We came here early to avoid the long line. A glass cable car carried us to the top of iconic Sugar Loaf Mountain, actually expect to ride second cable car to real mountain top, which is a symbol of the city, in ideal conditions, I supposed to see the stunning panorama of the beaches, Corcovado Mountain, downtown Rio, and Guanabara Bay, etc. actually what you can see is by chance, the mist of cloud always come across to make you wonder, and it's hard to take a good picture of the stunning panoramic view of bay. There are squirrel-like primates called marmosets which can be spotted near the cable car stations and trails on the mountain , a species native to eastern Brazil. The tourists are discouraged to feed them.
Zemin H — Google review
Beautiful! It’s a stop you cannot miss in Rio. I loved it!
Carolina.H — Google review
The cable cars for the sugarloaf start from the Parque bondinho spot. There is a stopover at another mountain before you reach here. I recommend the place for stunning views of the city. You can also see the Cristo far away. On a nice and sunny day,Pão de Azuçar is the best choice. The name of the mountain comes from the Portuguese who used to get Sugar being shipped in containers which looked similar in shape of the mountains. This was narrated by our guide and not sure about the authenticity.

Copacabana Beach is an iconic 2.2-mile stretch of sandy coastline with a bustling promenade, food kiosks, and hotels. The beach extends for about 4km and offers a lively atmosphere with soccer players, locals, and tourists enjoying caipirinhas at the kiosks. Visitors can also witness kids showcasing their soccer skills and beach vendors selling various items. It's recommended to check the water quality before swimming due to occasional contamination after heavy rainfall.
Copacabana Beach is iconic! Stunning views, soft sand, and lively atmosphere make it a must-visit. Great for a swim, relaxing, or enjoying local street food. Vendors are friendly, and the vibe is electric, especially at sunset. Safe if you stay aware. An unforgettable Rio experience!
Zachery D — Google review
By far the best beach in the refion. It's lively both at day and night. Free showers are also up for grabs and there are several spots where you can rent an umbrella and/or chairs for a fair price.
Filip M — Google review
The beach is beautiful. It was a bit wavy given I visited in the end of September and the water was a bit cold but it was really enjoyable and refreshing on hot days. There are many retailers that occasionally can try hard to sell whatever they have. It should also be known that this is not the safest place to be. One has to be very careful with his belongings and where to sit to avoid
Hamza B — Google review
Sept.25: We went to the famous Copacabana Beach. We taught it would be crowded as it was weekend, however this wasn't the case. There were a lot of local vendors selling all kinds of stuff & many different food, icecreams & drinks. Some brought a complete umbrella with bikinis & thongs as well as really nice looking grilled big scampis (we didn't try as we didn't know how long they were exposed to sun, etc.) & many more. As we need to get the Copacabana beach vipe, we bought a 700ML freshly pressed lime caipirinha. Delicious, but with the sun & almost on an empty stomach; I got hit very fast. In the far we saw Christ the Redeemer (big, famous Jezus statue of 30 m height on a hill), we hope to visit one of these days.
Petra ( — Google review
Here's a good review of Copacabana beach: Copacabana is more than just a beach; it's the vibrant, beating heart of Rio de Janeiro. The moment you step onto its famous wave-patterned promenade, you feel an electric energy. The 4km stretch of sand is a democratic playground for everyone—you'll see intense games of footvolley, locals sunbathing, and tourists sipping água de coco from the countless kiosks. The view is spectacular, with the curving bay framed by Sugarloaf Mountain on one end. It’s a must-see for its sheer iconic status and incredible people-watching, capturing the city's lively spirit perfectly.
Rahul R — Google review
One of the famous beaches in the world was worth visiting. A fairly clean that has many things to offer - from food stalls to watching people play volleyball, soccer and other games, enjoying a nice drink, snacks and food. A good place to get your morning or afternoon walk/run as well. A safe place compared to some parts of Rio. From good to excellent hotels across the beach.
Ali K — Google review
Loved this beach, it is great for long walks, it’s clean enough, it’s possible to see a beautiful sunset there. Really liked the fact that it was possible to pay by card for sunbeds, umbrellas and drinks. It’s often very busy there and I loved that vibe.

Parque Lage is a charming park located near the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro. The park features wooded trails, English-style gardens with touches of British romanticism, including a Baroque folly and grotto. The centerpiece of the park is an Italianate villa that now houses a visual arts school and a delightful cafe, making it a perfect spot for breakfast or afternoon tea.
I really loved this place as a park. The building that houses the restaurant is seriously impressive and I could snap pictures of it all day. I’d actually like to see if they do a tour and explain the history. The restaurant inside however I wasn’t too impressed with the my food was kinda bad. I don’t regret going, it was a fantastic experience, but the food from street vendors was better. The park was amazing. Tons of extra stuff to see and explore in there
Brandon T — Google review
Parque Lage in Rio felt like a hidden paradise — lush gardens, tall palm trees, and that iconic mansion with the view of Christ the Redeemer rising behind it. I loved wandering the quiet trails and taking photos by the pool. It’s the kind of place where nature, art, and peace beautifully come together.
Esrf G — Google review
Because this place is a major tourist attraction, come prepared to wait in line for a long time in order to get a picture. There is a lack of organization that made it a little difficult but the view of Cristo was incredible. We were told that the food was not the best so we decided to skip eating there but the 2 hour wait for pictures was definitely worth it. There was slight cloud coverage so we had to be patient but once it revealed itself, it was truly a sight to see. Definitely be prepared to stand in line for a least an hour regardless what day you go, and either bring a hat or umbrella and waters (or you can purchase some there) because it gets extremely hot.

Parque Lage is a stunning park nestled within Tijuca National Park, offering a lush tropical forest experience right in the heart of Rio. It features a scenic trail that leads up to Corcovado Mountain and the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue, perfect for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. Peaceful, beautiful, and rich in biodiversity, it’s a must-visit for anyone looking to explore Rio’s natural side.

Parque Lage is a true gem in Rio de Janeiro and an absolute must-visit for anyone seeking a blend of nature, history, and culture in the heart of the city. Nestled at the foot of Corcovado Mountain, this park offers a peaceful escape from the urban bustle, surrounded by lush Atlantic rainforest where you might spot monkeys, toucans, and a variety of exotic plants. The highlight of Parque Lage is its stunning neo-Romanesque mansion, which now houses the Escola de Artes Visuais (School of Visual Arts). The mansion’s elegant architecture, complete with a picturesque courtyard and pool, is a perfect backdrop for photos and often hosts art exhibitions and cultural events. The on-site Plage Café is a fantastic spot to relax with a coffee or breakfast, offering views of the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue in the distance. Wandering through the park, you’ll find beautifully landscaped gardens inspired by European designs, tranquil lakes, charming bridges, and even an enchanting grotto with stalactites and stalagmites. For adventure seekers, Parque Lage is also the starting point for the scenic hiking trail up to Christ the Redeemer, providing a unique perspective of Rio’s natural beauty. Entry is free, making it accessible to everyone. Whether you’re interested in art, photography, a leisurely stroll, or simply soaking in the serene atmosphere, Parque Lage will leave you enchanted. Highly recommended for families, couples, and solo travelers alike-don’t miss this magical corner of Rio de Janeiro.

Maracanã, also known as Estadio Jornalista Mario Filho, is a legendary stadium in Rio De Janeiro and the largest in Brazil. With a seating capacity of around 78,500 fans, it has hosted Olympic games and significant international sporting events. The construction involved renowned architects such as Waldir Ramos and Miguel Feldman. A visit to Maracanã is a must for soccer enthusiasts visiting Rio De Janeiro.
Immersive experience, this place is oozing passion and history. The tour is interesting and not too long so it keeps the attention of the younger kids too. You can buy additional activities such as goal kicks, holding up team flag at the stadium and have a picture with a trophy. The kick is worth it, the picture with the flag seems unnecessary, as you can just take a photo yourself that is almost as good. Everyone is friendly. The wait for the goal kick is a littlebit longer than it should be.

A historic place that you must visit once in Rio. Has a lot of activities and very nice museum with all famous players that pass from Brazil.
Charalampos P — Google review
It was extremely easy and fast to get tickets for a game that day, we went to the ticket office 1 and got the tickets. We got to the stadium with 2 and a half hours early and it was great and easy since we were some of the first to go in. The seats are first come first serve so it was great and we got amazing seats on one of the first rows. There is no great food there, only snacks like chips and popcorn. But overall it was a great experience and 100% will do next time I visit rio.
Luciana — Google review
What an intense and fun experience! It's open seating so if you want center, be there early. The street vendors were great for grabbing snacks and drinks before the game. The prices for beer were decent inside as well. Get ready to stand as these fans are passionate and fun. It may be easier to go to a ticket office in town than try the app. About 8 outta 12 of us could get scanned successfully for our facial recognition ticket on our phone.

Growing up watching legends play at Maracanã, visiting this iconic stadium was a dream come true. The atmosphere is electric, and being in a place filled with so much football history is unforgettable. The tour is well-organized, giving great insight into Brazil’s deep passion for the sport. Walking through the tunnel and standing pitch-side gave me chills. If you love football, Maracanã is a must-visit. Truly one of the world’s great stadiums!
Russo G — Google review
A must for every football fan. The tour organization is not the best compared to other stadiums guided tours in South America like El Monumental and La Bombonera. The extra tours do not worth it unless you are a big fan of any of the teams. On regard extra activities the Pele's museum is the only that worth it, but quite expensive and should be included on stadium tour.
Luis D — Google review
Maracanã is always fun; full or empty. It feels a bit strange to walk into the Maracanã today; it looks like a 'mini Maracanã.' I frequented the stadium between 1998 and 2008, and it seemed much bigger then. But as I said, it is fun—don't miss the opportunity to go if you get the chance!"
Petrus S — Google review
Visiting Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro is an unforgettable experience for any sports or culture enthusiast. As one of the most iconic football stadiums in the world, Maracanã embodies the passion and spirit of Brazilian soccer. From the moment you approach its grand structure, you can feel the history—this is where legends like Pelé, Zico, and Ronaldo made their mark. The guided tour is well-organized, offering fascinating insights into Brazil’s football legacy, from World Cup moments to local club rivalries. Walking through the players’ tunnel and stepping onto the edge of the pitch feels almost sacred. The museum displays trophies, jerseys, and photographs that beautifully capture decades of glory and heartbreak. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, making the visit engaging even for those who aren’t huge football fans. The stadium itself is clean, accessible, and safe, with plenty of photo opportunities and a small café for refreshments. If you can, attend a live match—especially a Flamengo or Fluminense game—because the electric energy of 70,000 fans chanting and waving flags is unlike anything else in the world. Maracanã isn’t just a sports venue; it’s a living monument to Brazil’s national pride and love for the beautiful game.

Brazilian restaurant
Aprazível is a charming restaurant nestled high on the Santa Teresa hillside in Rio, offering breathtaking views of downtown Rio and the Guanabara Bay. The rustic terrace is adorned with grass-roofed gazebos surrounded by lush tropical gardens, creating a serene ambiance frequented by toucans and monkeys. Guests can savor artisan Brazilian cuisine made with natural tropical ingredients while enjoying the romantic al-fresco dining experience illuminated by candles and fairy lights at night.
This place was very good. Up in the hills in Rio, with an amazing view/sunset. The vibe is amazing 10/10 and the food is very good 9/10. The tropical fish and the lamb shoulder were very good. We spent a little over 600 BR total for the four dishes.

A friend booked this place for lunch. It was our first time eating Brazilian food, so we didn’t know what to expect. We were extremely satisfied with the food, service and quality. Being surrounded in luscious greenery made the whole experience even more pleasant. Highly recommend locals and especially foreigners giving this place a go.

If you ever wanted to dine in the clouds of Rio and feel like a travel-executive doing it in style, Aprazível is your spot. High above the city in the bohemian hillside of Santa Tereza, the restaurant opens has great views of rooftops, bay, and that unmistakable Carioca skyline. From the moment you arrive, you get the kind of hospitality that knows how to relax while it impresses. The staff were warm, attentive, and clearly proud of the space, an open-air treehouse-style retreat where you’re dining among the jungle canopy and city lights. It’s elevated casual: timber and stone, ambient lighting, gentle breeze through leaves, and that amazing skyline. The menu showcases Brazilian creativity and flair. Their house-famous açaí guacamole was fresh, unexpected, and rich without being heavy. It’s not your Oaxacan guacamole and that’s okay. The vibe carried on with the main offerings, each one rooted in local flavor but styled for the modern table. Pair that with a caipiroska de maracujá, and you have drink-game and relaxation on point.

Beautiful restaurant with good food in Santa Theresa neighborhood. We walked in and were wowed by how big this place is. The ambience is on point. We were promptly seated and ordered the main course seafood catch of the day and another prawn dish with coconut rice. Both the dishes were fresh and tasted great. We ordered their chocolate dessert and that was amazing! Service was great. Food was good. Ambience was perfect. It is an expensive reataurant. One of the most expensive meals I had during my trip in Rio and I dint feel it was that worth the price hence reduced a star. Overall give it a try!

A must-go if you are in Rio. It’s really not to far from the main beaches, you can easily uber there. Food was delish but you really go there for the view and atmosphere which is just beautiful. They sat us without reservation (which I would not recommend as it’s usually fully booked)

This is a magnificent multi-level restaurant in the picturesque Santa Teresa district of Rio. The menu has a great selection of items inspired from different parts of Brazil such as Minas Gerais and Amazonas. There are plenty of vegetarian options. The restaurant also has a nice variety of caipirinhas and other cocktails as well as fresh juices. I had the guacamole acai and burrata and the guava cheesecake. All the items were delicious. The service staff was courteous, efficient and my server spoke some English- the menu was both in Portuguese and English. The ambiance was casual comfortable and cozy. The restrooms were well maintained. There is an elevator available to those with impaired mobility. I highly recommend this restaurant for its exquisite food and drinks and for the spectacular views of Rio from it’s location.

Restaurant
Confeitaria Colombo is a historic café-restaurant located in downtown Rio, offering a glimpse into the city's 'golden age.' The elegant setting features ornate chandeliers and jacaranda wood mirrors, creating an opulent atmosphere for breakfasts, brunches, and afternoon teas. This century-old establishment was once the center of social gatherings and political intrigue during Rio's belle epoque era.
Enjoyed a nice break on a rainy day. Waited 20 minutes to get in. Shared a ham and cheese sandwich so that we could order dessert!! Too full to finish desserts. Beautiful place!

Given the location, it is undoubtedly amazing but the service was disappointing. I understand that maybe because it was a Sunday afternoon, probably a long day however you can tell the unwillingness to work —The food, small portion and nothing special. If you are looking for a place to post on social media, this is perfect for you but if you want a real food/cafe there are bunch of them around way better than this tourist trap
Paolo B — Google review
Very beautiful place, it reeks history, but very full and loud, it doesn't let you enjoy the meal! I recommend you to order only the pastry if not you will wait a lot! The food is 7/10 and desserts 10/10 (the flan is really creamy and delicious)
Juan G — Google review
We chose the restaurant thanks to recommendations, but it was an extremely bad experience for us. Terrible attitude of the staff, catastrophic conditions of seating comfort, broken chairs, a lot of noise, a mess on the floor. Despite repeated requests to clean the table, we had to clean it ourselves. We spent almost an hour of our vacation here waiting for a table. Despite the name order of the guests, the staff let other guests who had passed us in, the staff told us curtly that they had a reservation. We did not see any information about reservations on the tables. They all passed us in several times, despite the fact that we had a reservation card. Very worried, we got up and left, preferring not to ruin our vacation. We do not recommend a visit, it has nothing to do with a gastronomic, relaxing and relaxing experience. Disappointing waste of time.
Peter B — Google review
Overhyped. Looking deeper into what it offers beyond the appearances, it’s nothing worth visiting again in my opinion. Yes, waiters wearing a tie, and the long queue might make you think it will be a special experience for the prices you’ll be charged. Unfortunately not, food is just average, waiters don’t speak much else other than Portuguese, with no awareness of when to serve what’s being ordered. They will deliver the food as soon as it’s ready. So we got the coffee and eclair served before the main dishes. I don’t who eats in this way but that’s what happens if you order everything at the same time in this place. The worst part is that the food is not even freshly prepared. For example, the beirut pita sandwich with fillet mignon, eggs and salad is reheated. The result is a bland and soggy sandwich…disappointing. The eclair was not fresh either. The only things we found to be good were the carpaccio and the coffee. Before paying they’ll parade a basket full of sweets and chocolate in the hope they’ll get you to buy more stuff And when you’re finally about to step out, you’ll be asked for 60r$ for a printed photograph..yeah, that trick they pull off at the beginning once you got past the queue. I don’t know what makes them think this is what makes clients enjoy their time in this place.
Alexandru I — Google review
Highly overrated, but worth it if you intend to go for the atmosphere. The food was not good. Looking around, my guess is that it’s best to just get a coffee and shake or a dessert.

A Glorious Stop in Rio Visiting Confeitaria Colombo was an absolute highlight of our trip to Rio. The architecture is stunning—stepping inside feels like entering a glamorous time capsule. We treated ourselves to coffee, pastries, and some very necessary photo ops under the grand mirrors and stained glass ceiling. Everything was delicious, and the service was kind and attentive. Whether you’re into history, sweets, or just soaking up beauty, this spot is 100% worth it.

Bar
Brazilian restaurant
Bar e Restaurante Urca is a classic establishment located in the tranquil neighborhood of Urca, offering stunning views of the bay and Sugarloaf Mountain. The restaurant serves traditional Brazilian dishes such as seafood with farofa and Caipirinha cocktails. Downstairs, there's a tiny bar where locals enjoy beers and empadas before heading across the street to admire the boats in the nearby yacht club.
What an amazing experience that I had at Restaurante Urca. This restaurant is very popular in Rio. It is located in the charming Urca neighborhood, right on Rua Cândido Gaffrée. The setting is unbeatable; whether you’re sitting inside with large windows or out along the water’s edge, you get sweeping views of the bay, Sugarloaf Mountain. I prefer sitting outside along the water’sedge - the waterfront views are stunning, particularly during the sunset, an authentic experience. The foods are fresh and delicious - the menu celebrates Brazilian and Portuguese influences. The portions are generous, flavors authentic, and ingredients feel fresh. The seafood especially shines. The service was friendly, attentive, and accommodating, even when the place was crowded. The atmosphere is relaxed and perfect for a night out with friends or a romantic dinner. This place has my highest recommendation - from the moment you arrive, the combination of warm service, fresh food, and spectacular views of Guanabara Bay make it a must-visit. Suggestions: 1- Because it’s popular, arrive early to avoid long waits and crowds, or reserve ahead if you want a nice table. 2- Try the takeaway option and sit on the harbor wall for breathtaking views.
Raed A — Google review
There is a dine in restaurant and a take out counter. We ordered from the takeout counter and went across the street to eat. There really were no tables or chairs, instead people used the sea wall as both. The take out counter has the usual fried pastries, but you can also order more entree type dishes. We tried something that was like a thick shrimp chowder served with rice and a fish Milanese, which was fried fish pieces with rice and a cole slaw like salad. I would say the food tasted fine, nothing to rave about necessarily. I think people go to socialize with friends, grab a drink and casual bite with the bay/water as the backdrop.

Lasai Restaurante is a modern dining spot in Rio de Janeiro, led by Chef Rafa Costa e Silva, known for its Basque-inspired cuisine and use of local ingredients. The restaurant has gained international acclaim and continues to innovate under the leadership of Chef Costa e Silva. The airy and elegant space includes an open-air terrace, providing a delightful dining experience. With a focus on quality ingredients, the chef's attention to detail is evident in every dish.
Wonderful dinner full of natural flavors, beautiful combinations, and Michelin-star service! Dinner for 3 at Lasai last night. 9 beautifully prepared snacks using local ingredients, finished with 3 mains featuring seafood and pork. Loved the unique combination of flavors and the various preparations. Favorites were the oxtail served with auberge and on an auberge bread, and flan with Uni! I’m a bread lover, and having three distinct types of bread was a big plus. Service was fantastic, they were well staffed, attentive, always watching our glasses to top up on wine or water and solicitous. Decent value for a 2-Michelin star restaurant, I can see it’s well deserved. Congratulations Lasai - would recommend! Only including a few photos to not spoil the surprise for the next guest, even though they often change their menu to adjust for availability of fresh ingredients.
Richard K — Google review
I know it’s all subjective, but I was disappointed. The 9 snacks were just too much and the bread was over the top, the mains were ok. I didn’t enjoy the wine pairing - again it’s personal taste - but what impacted my rating was that with only 11 people in the restaurant you would think that the many staff would be aware of each guest. Like when they forgot to tell me what I was eating or when the waiter poured sparkling water on top of the still water and I had to ask the waiter to change the glass or when the kitchen staff left at the end of service and didn’t thank the guests or when the waiter chased me to the door to pay the bill I had paid 10 mins earlier. It’s not my first time at this restaurant and I keep coming back hoping I will like it - and it’s just not for me.
Karen P — Google review
I wanted to love this place. We have looked forward to eating here for months. However, there was only one dish (green beans wrapped in a crepe) that had any distinguishable flavors. Everything else was inedibly salty and overly creamy. I was ready to walk out, and would have if I hadn’t spent 1.250 R$. I truly don’t understand how this place even has one Michelin Star, let alone 2. No one with any culinary experience or food appreciation would rate this food as even decent. I could feel my blood pressure increase with each course of this meal. If you have any sort of coronary issue, do not eat here. The presentation and service were definitely “fine dining” appropriate. The “small bites”, however, were far too large. If you are going to serve dishes on a cracker, it has to be smaller. The cracker just ended up crumbling and made a mess.
Daniella W — Google review
Unbeatable experience - cozy, intimate, interactive, fun. The chef takes you through a well balanced journey based on local ingredients, changing every week, beautifully choreographed with the rest of the service. Simply superb! A must try if you’re in Rio.

Wonderful meal and really experience, felt like a great Japanese omakase with the chiefs table setup, but with delicious Brazilian food, amazing wine pairings and perfect service. Will be back next time in Rio!
Taj M — Google review
A very personal dining experience. After some minutes you settle in and it feels very familiar. Each dish achieves to highlight the qualities of its main ingredient. It is incredible how especially properties and flavors of vegetables are utilized. A dining experience for the special moments. Great! Will come back.
Moritz M — Google review
Update: we visited the new restaurant and it's a much smaller and more intimate space with a maximum of 10 seats. You get to see everything prepared and watch chef Rafe and the team perform their magic. Sadly the price did increase significantly for this luxury but it makes sense as your paying for a dinner and entertainment now. Food is thankfully still great! Really great! We loved how they are able to take fresh, locally grown ingredients to make some amazing dishes and our favorite was the broccoli, heart of palms and pistachio with a butter foam. We sat in the kitchen at the chefs table which is highly recommended if you can get it. Another good sign was seeing the owner working in the kitchen, doing whatever was needed - it's clear this is his passion. Overall great experience, and absolutely worthy of a Michelin star!

Bar do Mineiro is a renowned local bar located in the vibrant neighborhood of Santa Teresa in Rio de Janeiro. It has been serving up traditional Brazilian dishes and drinks since the 1980s, making it a beloved institution for both locals and tourists. The menu features hearty plates of meaty dishes, including the famous feijoada, as well as delicious pasteis filled with cheese, meat, beans or shrimp.
Bar do Mineiro is the perfect stop in Santa Teresa! Everything we order was amazing! We had the Feijoada (delicious!), the porção mista de pastéis, Queijo coalho a milanesa, Frango a passarinha, Feijoada Caldo and Vaca atolada Caldo. Would eat everything again now ;) The service was great, food came out fast and I love the Santa Teresa vibes. We walked from here to Parque das ruínas and to escadaria Selaron. I would recommend ubering as it can be hard finding parking in the area.

Very nice, chilled restaurant if you want something traditional and tasty for lunch. Enjoyed the pork chops with rice and fajolada, which was great. They only had one type of croquettes with beans inside a very little meat, which tasted okay but were not amazing. Would still recommend paying a visit here!
Nico A — Google review
Do you know when can you eat bones? When it has been cooked in the stew for so long that its calcium breaks down and flavour comes out. This is how I know I have had one of the best stews in my life, not just the best Feijoada. The stew does not cheat - plenty of meat, sausage and beans cooked just to the right texture. The sides were perfect complements to the stew, especially the orange slices with the sauce - yes I ate it that way and saucéed the plate with it. The staff is friendly, attentive and under the classical music backdrop I was losing my mind as I had my meal. Nothing touches the soul of a sick traveller better than such a stew on a rainy day.

We ordered the Yuca, the fried chicken and the feijoada. It was a lot of food but def very expensive. The feijoada has a very strong pork taste for those that are foreign. The fried chicken was tasty.

Sushi Leblon

Sushi restaurant
Sushi Leblon is a pioneering Japanese restaurant located in the bustling Dias Ferreira Street in Leblon, Rio de Janeiro. For almost 40 years, it has been blending tradition and innovation in its cuisine. The menu features a variety of creative and contemporary Japanese dishes, with classics like tuna tartare with quail egg and black caviar, as well as sushi duos featuring quail egg with truffle oil and sea salt, and grilled scallop with lychee.
We sat at the bar because we did not make a reservation and there was a 40 minute + wait for a table of 2. We went on a Saturday night and decided to just wing it so this makes sense seeing as though the restaurant is very popular and received a Michelin star last year (2024). We really enjoyed the food, service and ambiance here. I liked being about to watch the sushi chefs preparing everything! They were very talented and incredibly efficient, truly a special experience. We tried an array of different appetizers and rolls, all of which were so good! I even tried the “Canan” shot which is considered a “welcoming” to Brazil that is a combination of 3 different kinds of Cachącas from around Brazil. Would definitely recommend making reservations but also worth waiting for as well! Service was good, too, despite a serious language barrier. (They will provide you with a QR code to access an English menu)
Meg G — Google review
The initial product was good quality and fresh but the execution of sushi and rolls was not good! It wasn’t tasty at all. Very disappointed with this place because it was recommended everywhere but it didn’t live up to expectations unfortunately.

If you're looking for an unforgettable Japanese dining experience in Rio de Janeiro, this restaurant in Leblon is the place to be! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with impeccable customer service—attentive, friendly, and always ready to make great recommendations. The menu offers an incredible variety of dishes, each prepared with the freshest ingredients and an artistic touch. Whether you’re a fan of sashimi, sushi, or creative fusion dishes, there’s something to surprise and delight every palate. But the absolute standout is Atum Fresco, Ovas Negras e Gema de Ovo Caipira—a masterpiece! The combination of the rich, buttery fresh tuna with the luxurious black roe and creamy farm egg yolk creates a perfect harmony of flavors. It’s a must-try that will leave you craving more. Every visit is a top-tier gastronomic experience, making this spot my go-to for Japanese cuisine in Rio. Highly recommend!

Amazing sushi place! Love the variety of fish and surprising, delicious sushi combinations. Cool ambiance and great service. Thought the price was very fair too for good quality.
Marina V — Google review
The sushi is amazing, I really recommend. It's pricey but worth it for a night. We got the "basic for 2" and the salmon carpaccio with truffle oil. It was really good and quite big. The service was really average - they were slow to take our order and forgot drinks. The customers around us were leaving dishes half full which made me a bit sad, knowing the quality and the price of this food.
Deka D — Google review
I was really looking forward to the sushi here, but the experience fell a bit short. While the quality and service were decent, they didn’t quite match the price point. Overall, it felt a little overhyped for what it was.”

I've had better sushi for 3x cheaper and 10x tastier. The salmon is chewy, has a very plain flavor, and the after taste is slightly musty. The rice is also very plain tasting. Lastly the flavors and seasoning used just make the sushi taste weird.

Restaurant
Oro, located in Rio de Janeiro's elegant Leblon district, is a contemporary restaurant that has been making waves since its opening in 2010. Chef Felipe Bronze has gained acclaim for skillfully blending molecular techniques with Brazilian ingredients. The restaurant offers artfully plated tasting menus with wine pairings in a sleek and modern space.
Best lunch I’ve had in a long time! Service was excellent, food was amazing and the wine pairing matched perfectly!! Update: took my partner for dinner and unfortunately it didn’t live up to the previous visit. Starters and service and wine were still great but the fish was tough and the beef was so dry I couldn’t eat it. And what was disappointing was I told the waiter and there was no acknowledgement.
Karen P — Google review
The food was good, but it didn’t live up to a two-star standard. In fact, I’ve been to one-star restaurants that provided equal or better food, as well as comparable service and atmosphere. Unfortunately, our experience was disrupted by a table of three young women who were extremely loud. Their noise was audible even in the upstairs restroom, yet they were never asked to keep it down. This didn’t feel like a proper dining environment for appreciating the flavors on offer. That said, I appreciated the thoughtful gesture of asking for our favorite starter. I chose the burger and thoroughly enjoyed having it again.
Deniz P — Google review
Beautiful setting, great food — but a baffling and uncomfortable experience - we will never return again. We had high hopes for this restaurant. The ambience was lovely and the food itself was delicious, beautifully presented and full of flavor. Unfortunately, everything else around the experience left a sour taste in our mouths — and for a bill of over $500, that’s just not acceptable. I opted for the cheaper wine pairing, but I didn’t feel it matched my courses well, so I passed it to my spouse. What followed was genuinely uncomfortable: staff openly talked about it — in front of us — as if we had done something wrong. It wasn’t as if we were getting extra wine; if anything, my spouse still had fewer pours than the premium pairing. It was awkward and unprofessional. If they had an issue, it would’ve been far better to address it discreetly with us, rather than make us feel embarrassed. That moment completely disrupted what was meant to be a special night. A few other points didn’t help: • The main courses were the same size as the snacks, which made the term “main” a bit misleading. • We noticed the table next to us received chocolates and a gift, while we received nothing. We didn’t expect anything extra, but it certainly made us feel less welcome, as though there was some uneven treatment of guests. Overall, while the culinary execution was solid and the setting lovely, the service experience made us deeply uncomfortable — so much so that we would not return. In a city like Rio, where we’ve had amazing meals for less than half the price, I would honestly recommend saving your money and choosing somewhere else that values hospitality just as much as flavor.
Avtar S — Google review
We sat at the Chef’s Table and it was our first Michelin Star restaurant experience. I believe Oro was a good place to start because everything was amazing. Service was amazing, all the waiters were extremely polite and not pushy. The chefs looked calm and very organized. The food was absolutely incredible. I didn’t expect eating so much! The portions are small but fair, and there is a lot of food. I will say that some of the appetizers were a bit too salty, kind of ruined some of the dishes for me. If they were slightly less salty, it would have been perfect. The desserts, oh my God, chefs kiss!! Lastly I was a bit surprised by the conditions of the bathroom, when I went it was a bit dirty and everything looked cheap and old. A bit strange for a restaurant like that but didn’t affect the experience.

Oro – A Culinary Jewel in Rio de Janeiro Nestled in the heart of Rio's Leblon neighborhood, Oro offers an extraordinary dining experience where Brazilian tradition meets contemporary innovation. We opted for the Creativity menu—a fluid and expressive sequence that showcased the kitchen’s full range, each plate perfectly elaborated and thoughtfully composed. The wine pairing elevated the journey to its highest expression. Every pour felt deliberate, enhancing textures, contrasts, and the emotional rhythm of the meal. Dining at Oro is not simply about flavor—it’s about balance, precision, and storytelling. A true expression of modern Brazilian haute cuisine at its finest.

Oro is an incredible dining experience! We ordered the tasting menu, and every dish was creative, beautifully presented, and full of Brazilian flavors with a modern twist. Standouts included the oysters with caipirinha sorbet and the pork belly with pineapple kimchi. The ambiance is sleek and inviting, and the service was excellent, attentive but never intrusive. We didn’t do the wine pairing or sit at the chef’s table, but the main dining area was still a fantastic experience. If you’re looking for a top-tier restaurant in Rio, Oro is a must-visit!

Always an amazing experience! Hands down to Felipe and his team! We go once a year to Rio and Oro is a must stop. From the beginning to the end.
Renata V — Google review
Great experience at Oro! 22.04.2025 The menu consists of 11 starters, which all were extraordinary and unique. So you already had a mix of different flavours and textures with only the starters (and actually you already were full after the starters haha). Then you can choose between 2 or 4 main dishes, which were also good. Dessert great too. The only thing we would complain about is the service - there are great waiters (e.g. the woman at the door) and also the kitchen chief was really nice and helped explaining the food, but the waiter who served us wasn't really professional. He didn't really explained the menu and when we had questions he only answered very shortly or even wrong (e.g. the white stripes of the dish 'fish of the day' are not from the corn, as the kitchen chief explained us later) and we always felt a little bit uncomfortable. Just one detail (service) to improve, the rest was amazing!

Such a special dinner, service was beyond excellent and the food was delicious. Thank you so much! We were definitely beyond full at the end of our dinner. Would recommend to anyone coming to rio.

Cipriani- An Interesting Journey This one star Michelin could be on its way to a second star.  While I'm no Michelin inspector, there are some techniques here, especially in the dessert phase, that certainly impress. This 14-course (maybe 15 or 16 in reality) culinary journey starts promptly and will take all of 2.5 to 3 hours. The courses are presented exceptionally well and flowers were a theme of our evening and present in every course but one. There was certainly a northern Italian flare, but this could also pass as Californian cuisine for those familiar with the US. The service was outstanding and the wine pairings complimented each dish very well with the exception of one. That wine was certainly better without the dish and likewise. I didn't expect that. I wouldn’t hesitate to return and look forward to my next time in Rio.

Cipriani in Rio—Michelin-starred, elegantly poised, yet not without its flaws. The prix-fixe menu? A well-curated journey of flavors, skillfully executed and undeniably one of the finer dining experiences in the city. But the service? Let’s just say the Michelin magic dimmed slightly when the silverware placement turned into a guessing game. In a place of this caliber, such details matter—no diner should have to fumble for the correct utensil like it’s a fine-dining escape room. That said, the food delivered, the ambiance charmed, and for Rio, it remains a top-tier indulgence—just one that could use a touch more polish.
Bert M — Google review
One of my favourite restaurants. I’ve had the pleasure of dining at Cipriani twice—once in 2022 and again in 2025—and both experiences have been exceptional. As a vegetarian, I’ve opted for the vegetarian tasting menu each time, and it has been fantastic. It never feels like a compromise; every dish is thoughtfully crafted and highly imaginative. The service is always outstanding, making each visit a delight. The staff are incredibly helpful, taking the time to explain each dish in English (my Portuguese is improving, but still a work in progress!). The wine list is extensive, though slightly on the higher end price-wise for what’s on offer. Italian wines, unsurprisingly, are a highlight, but I’d love to see more focus on white wines. That said, I understand red wines are generally favoured here in Brazil. A particular standout is the restaurant’s commitment to evolving its offerings. I love that they now feature a full vegan tasting menu alongside a great selection of vegan dishes. Each visit has felt unique, and it’s clear they are continuously refining and elevating the experience. Overall, Cipriani is a world-class restaurant that masterfully balances tradition with innovation, honouring the foundations of Italian cuisine while exploring new creative possibilities. I can’t wait for my next visit! Muito obrigado!

Three words: oh my god. We got the vegan tasting menu and it was amazing! Each course was beautifully plated with the flavors well thought out. And the service was attentive and caring. Highly recommend this unique dining experience.

Cipiriani loved the celebration all around and soft piano music just set the mood of Venusian cuisine. Had amazing Gandola ride of food journey with hand crafted menu by Chef Nello casseses. Strong recommendation when in rio de janeiro and craving for some Italian food must visit Cipiriani. We really enjoyed. Thank you Amanda Freitas for being amazing host.

Amazing dinner. Totally worth it, we took the 11 courses. Ravioli with ossobuco was the highlight.
George S — Google review
I had a wonderful dining experience here! The food was artistically designed and equally delicious to eat. The severs were friendly and attentive, and they took the time to explain all of the dishes in the tasting menu. I would go back anytime.

Cocktail bar
Adega Pérola is a classic Iberian-style pub located in the heart of Copacabana. It offers a variety of Spanish tapas, Portuguese appetizers, cachaça, beers, and wines. The bar is known for its Portuguese-influenced croquettes, sardines, octopus, lamb sausages, juicy olives and other traditional delicacies.
Dropped in during a guided food tour. This history of the place is interesting and the hard work to keep it open over time is commendable. I really liked the squid and fish I had. Would definitely return.

We really enjoyed our dinner here! Maybe even 5 star. Big selection of food. LOVED the simple but delicious black bean soup with pork belly, cheap and filling and tastes great! Also the cold octopus with vinegar and seasoning. And the sardine. The shrimp rice for one person was good and actually enough for two people. Our server was super nice, smiling, patient, and helpful. They have nice drinks here too. Outdoor seating looked fine, but we stayed inside which is comfortable and many seats. Glad we came here and will come back for sure.
GT H — Google review
Came just before noon when it was moderately empty and left an hour later when a queue was starting to form outside The service is friendly and helpful and they have a long menu but I picked from the display case. I don’t speak Portuguese but the server was very patient and nice! Got fried fish eggs and salmon, which were great! I also got the oysters but they weren’t very good - tasted extremely salty and fishy. Their WiFi is super fast, but because the place is crowded I left early.

Iberian-style tapas with decades of tradition -22.965992°, -43.187334° Behind the Siqueira Campos/Copacabana metro station, this small, long-established Portuguese boteco (tavern) is known for its wide selection of seafood tapas, including octopus, crab, smoked salmon and pickled garlic behind a glass front, and traditional appetisers. Operating since 1957, it has sold Portuguese and Spanish delicacies in 100-gram portions, accompanied by ice-cold beers or cachaça (sugar cane liqueur). Former customers took over from the original owners and have preserved the traditional boteco ambiance down to the last detail. In April 2025, we ordered grilled squid with broccoli rice and salad (R$50) for lunch. The presented grilled squid was a surprise as we expected it to be sliced before grilling. It was cooked rather than grilled in one piece and gave us a different taste of octopus. No octopus deep-fried. Service was good at the small and narrow tables. The atmosphere was special. For an authentic and tasty experience, especially for seafood lovers, Adega Pérola remains a remarkable destination in Copacabana.
Marcel C — Google review
There is a really fun atmosphere here and they have tons of different dishes to choose from. In particular we really enjoyed the sardines escabeche, the smoked tuna and the octopus. All the staff were lovely here, would definitely recommend!
Sam L — Google review
A relaxed, no-frills tapas bar. We went for lunch during the weekday and got a table right away. We got a mixture of grilled (hot) dishes and ready-made cold dishes - all seafood dishes. The cold dishes were definitely the standouts - we got the octopus, haddock and lobster. Haddock was our favourite!
Kathleen O — Google review
Mostly indoor seating with a counter of already prepared dishes. We had the mussels and octopus dish. You order by grams. Both were marinated the same way with onion, oil and other spices. Both were tender and slightly cooled when served. We didn't try any hot entrees. The coconut water actually came in the coconut. That was the best-very refreshing after a long day of flights and no sleep, walking around in the heat.
Angela T — Google review
Nice place with a variety of seafood tapas. Unfortunately, the one I chose wasn’t to my taste—there was hardly any codfish, but an overwhelming amount of raw garlic, which made it hard to enjoy. The portion was also quite small for the price. On the other hand, the shrimp rice I ordered was decent and came in a generous portion. Overall, it’s a nice spot to check out, though some dishes could be hit or miss.

Churrascaria Palace

Barbecue restaurant
Churrascaria Palace, established in 1951, is a renowned and upscale restaurant located near Copacabana in Brazil. It offers an extensive selection of prime beef cuts, oysters, and sushi. As one of Rio's oldest steakhouses, it continues to attract diners with its timeless charm and commitment to authenticity. The restaurant provides a traditional churrasco experience with skewers loaded with savory meats carved tableside.
Great service, atmosphere & food! The staff were really great & the meats were being offered every few minutes. Everything was absolutely delicious. When they knew I only spoke English, they made sure to say all the meats in English. Great service. I wish I stayed longer in Rio to visit this place more often
Thuy M — Google review
Giving 5 stars, although meat quality was inconsistent between visits. It seemed that when a restaurant is full, the quality declines. Or maybe I just has bad luck, but the first time the meat was the best I’ve ever had, the second time just above average. Buffet was amazing both times though and the service is impeccable. The atmosphere is very nice and classy but not obnoxiously push or anything. Would come again, just not with crazy high expectations of the meat!
Maksim T — Google review
Overrated. Staff are rushed. Will show that they are displeased if you reject their offer. Supposed to showcase the whole cow and other meats, was only offered 5/6 types throughout the night. Best fish was the seafood stew. Place is cramped especially at the buffet bar when place is packed. Not worth the price imo
Happy R — Google review
We decided to try a new place and we were pleasantly surprised because it felt very upscale without having extremely expensive prices. A bit disappointed in their food/ salad bar selection. Very. Little salad vegetables, vegetables. But a lot of heavy creamy things such as eggs and potatoes with lots of sauce. It was a little bit too heavy for me! The sushi part was not the best selection.I would not go there for this particular choice. The meets, however, that run around were impeccably cooked. One time there was a little bit too red for me and they immediately went and cooked it a bit more and brought it to my table. So the service was impeccable and very friendly. I wish that they would forget to be pouring your wine every 5 minutes. So the bottle was over before our dinner was even done I understand this is a marketing plot but it's not the best for me and we were one of the few people that were actually drinking a bottle of wine. In general. It's a very good place to go and have your churrasco !

Excellent selection of meats and food. Service was fast and friendly. Really enjoyed the buffet options as well as the table side service, highly recommended.

I came with group since this is very close to my hotel. I loved salad bar better than grilled steak and lamb, I had smocked salmon, smocked herring, raw oysters, and sashimi - salmon, tuna, etc. Garlic bread was crispy and full of flavor. I had a small piece of Fillet Minion and a piece of lamb, which was all I had, they are not impressive at all.
Zemin B — Google review
Excellent food and atmosphere. Service is good but not when the restaurant is busy. You will need to wait for meat to come. Salad buffet goes out rapidly and you have to wait for the refill. Prepare yourself as it is $$$$

Enjoyable to eat at a Brazilian Steakhouse in Brazil. The salad bar and meats served at the table were very good. But honestly, the restaurant was not as good as Brazilian Steakhouses in the United States (e. g. Fogo de Chao).

Santos Dumont Airport is a charming waterfront airport in Rio de Janeiro, offering a wide range of domestic flights. Located adjacent to the city center, it provides incredible views of planes taking off and landing, especially from nearby Flamengo Beach. The airport is known for its short runway and the steep turns that planes make to avoid Sugar Loaf, making it one of the world's most incredible airports for takeoffs.
I love this airport. It actually had a lot of places to eat, drink. I had one of my best hamburgers and all the Brazil was here. Also, it is attached to a shopping mall. I WOULD RECOMMEND
Cindy L — Google review
Santos Dumont Airport is a convenient option for domestic flights in Rio de Janeiro, offering stunning views during takeoff and landing. The location is excellent—right in the city, making it easy to get to and from. The terminal is relatively small, which means shorter walking distances, but it can feel crowded during peak hours. Check-in and security are usually efficient, though lines can build up quickly. There are decent food options, but the variety is somewhat limited. If you have time, grab a window seat at a café and enjoy the view of Sugarloaf Mountain. Overall, a solid choice for quick domestic travel, but be prepared for occasional congestion.

Right in the heart of Rio! So easy to get to by tram, Metro, walking. If you are coming by car the traffic can be extremely busy. Immigration and bag check took 10 minutes once inside there isn't much to do. A few kiosks, one lounge and you can walk from top to bottom in 2 minutes. Nice views of the planes but the windows are dirty on more than 60% so hard to see planes clearly.
Alex C — Google review
I went to SDU from Sao Paulo with azul airlines. The scenery before landing was absolutely beautiful!!! People need to take window seat! We can see also Christ Redeemer from afar.
Yessica M — Google review
I don’t usually review airports however this one was very clean and quick. I was impressed. From the time we landed till the time we walked out of the airport it was a total of 25 minutes. And that’s including grabbing six bags from the luggage claim and the boarding and all that fun stuff.
Ebruhh K — Google review
Plane really used the brakes on this 4900ft runway. Love it! Small airport, fast in fast out. Convenient to Rio tourist spots.
Jim B — Google review
The cab lines are really aggressive, I got an Uber and they hound you. the lines to leave are really long (customs) - you literally don’t scan anything, they just are long. Immigrations actually wasn’t so bad, that was quicker than after waiting for my bags to leave. The money exchanges are a rip off, the first one was about 50 BR less for a 100 dollar bill exchange as the one right next to it. Most places here take credit Card
David H — Google review
Good airport, we flew into Rio from Washington DC via Sao Paolo. The airport is very outdated, surprisingly for being in the Capital. We did arrive at the domestic terminal, so I can’t speak to the international terminal. But it was an ok experience. The luggage did take forever to get to the carousel, literally they only drop off 10-12 bags a time. Transportation was easy to figure out, whether Uber or Taxis. If you take Uber you have to walk to a predetermined location for Uber, but its close by.

RIOgaleão International Airport

International airport
Airport
Galeao–Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport, also known as Galeao International Airport, is a major airport in Brazil and underwent significant upgrades for the 2014 World Cup. Located 13 miles from downtown Rio de Janeiro, it offers amenities such as free WiFi, a chapel, and a post office. Travelers have praised its accessibility for wheelchairs and the cleanliness of its restrooms.
Spacious, Bustling, with a Hidden Oasis My recent experience at this airport was overwhelmingly positive. The first thing you notice is the sheer size—it's massive and impressive. While it attracts huge crowds, the atmosphere is vibrant and energetic. The real highlight for me was the VIP lounge located post-security, right in front of gate B36. It's a truly great space to relax, recharge, and get away from the busy terminal. Beyond the lounge, the airport is a shopper's paradise with a wide variety of stores to browse. Despite the number of people, the ample amenities and great facilities make it a top-tier travel hub. A truly excellent airport.
Pranav P — Google review
The airport is large and modern airport with all the facilities. You have even free water to refill your bottles. Free sockets to connect your phone charger with (Brazilian socket). There is a large duty free shop. Immigration is very quickly. Toilets are cleaned and well maintained. There are many currency exchange shops but be careful that the rates are very different from one to other. There is Uber service taxis and buses to different destinations including Buzios and other beach locations in nearby. You should be careful about some guys at the entrance which want to clean your shoes for free and then they ask for money and if you refuse to pay they start to shout and make many troubles.

GIG seemed safe, clean and custom processing was easy. There's lots of people to help. Customs officers are helpful and respectful. However there's way too many people soliciting for taxi. Be weary. Uber can be expensive from the airport. If you take BRT just outside terminal 1 and 2 to the next bus station and take a Uber from there it costs way cheaper. It's possible to go all the way downtown and beyond by bus ( BRT). But you'll have to take at least 2 busses transfer. Check for BRT busses just outside T1 and T2. They'll cost a fraction of the Rideshare system. Public transportation seemed safe and efficient as well. And yes they are air-conditioned. Yay!
Eugenio R — Google review
We were here in the middle of September. Overall it was a good experience. The airport is big and had all the amenities you expect in this type of facilities. The aisles a very long and spacious from the gate you arrive to the baggage claim and even more when you get an Uber. The personal is attentive nothing special. We arrived after midnight so we could experience everything in detail. The restrooms were clean, we found a couple choices for money exchange. One of the big challenges is the language. We did find many people speaking English. 90% of them speak Portuguese. Anyways, we find all the basics when we stopped by.
Jackie E — Google review
This is a nice big airport for international travel. This is where my delta flight landed from Atlanta. The walk to customs after exiting the plane is pretty far but it gives you time to look around the airport. Going through custom was fine if they aren't busy. After you past customs, you can get your luggage from baggage claim and then walk through more their indoor marketplace if you want to purchase anything.
Peter X — Google review
Rio de Janeiro-Galeão International Airport is a breath of fresh air in international travel. The entire system is impressively efficient, with friendly staff who actually know what they’re doing. Whether it’s check-in, security, or passport control, queues are short and well-managed thanks to the professionalism of the team. The amenities are everything you’d hope for in a major airport. There’s a great selection of affordable food that actually tastes good -- a rarity in airports where meals often come with inflated prices and disappointing quality. You'll also find well-stocked stores for souvenirs and travel essentials, and even beautiful art displays by local Brazilian artist, like Beto Gatti, that make the space feel warm and vibrant. Overall, GIG sets a high standard. It’s clean, well-organized, and designed with travelers in mind. A great first and last impression of Rio.

Sept.25: We arrived in an almost empty arrival area. 1st we needed to go to immigrations, it was much more crowded (there were 30 booths!) & we quickly got through the process: picture with eye scan & fingerprint. As we walked towards the luggage belt, we saw an official taxi stand & we booked our transfer to our accommodation in Copacabana. We got ticket & were told that after duty free shops, there would be a counter & representative who would bring us to the booked taxi. @belt our together packed luggage came separately; all 3 straps were gone, but luggage was luckily undamaged.
