Absolutely stunning. This is one of the most special locations in the world and should be on everyone’s bucket list. Nowhere is so iconic yet so peaceful. It is almost impossible to see everything here because you will just spend all of your time in one location once you realize that it’s the most beautiful place you’ve ever been
A must see when you visit El Calafate! The glaciers are breathtaking! Pictures truly cannot put into perspective how massive they are! My husband and I walked all the different trails and it wasn’t very difficult. Great way to get more angles of the glaciers while you’re there. It was so fascinating to hear them cracking and see ice fall into the water. *NOTE* be prepared with your money for the tickets. Best check online for pricing before you go. Foreigners pay more, so make sure you’re viewing the correct pricing online.
So glad we made the drive to see this incredible glacier! We saw and heard some calving. Nothing large, but very interesting. One thing to note is that the restaurant and park seems to close at 4:30pm. I would also save the miradors until after viewing the glacier.
You can visit from El Calafate. I recommend doing the tour that has the combination of: 1. Glacier boat tour 2. Trekking On the glacier 3. Glacier walkways There is a fee required to visit this park.
Wonderful national park with stunning views of the glaciers. Long walking paths available on well maintained metal walkways. Lots of steps and elevation up and down but walkways ensure a safe slip free walking surface. Provides fairly up close views from a large number of lookout points.
Great experience here. Very stunning. This is a worth visiting place in a lifetime.
One of my best travel memories around the world!!!👍👍👍👍👍
Established in 1937, this UNESCO World Heritage site spans approximately 7,269 square kilometers. Among its highlights is the iconic Perito Moreno Glacier, a stunning ice formation that stretches 250 square kilometers and rises up to 70 meters above the waterline. The park is also home to the striking Cerro Fitz Roy, a peak that reaches 3,405 meters and offers some of the most awe-inspiring views in the region. How can this be so wonderful?

Wonderful! I enjoyed looking at it from different places inside the park but also I did the ice trekking 💯 I was there in late December, the ice trekking was expensive but was good experience! At the end of the ice walking we got some wishky with the ice from the glacier 🫢
Such a unique view! We went on the boat ride and it was amazing, we saw two falling. Only bad thing is that it’s crowded.. so that can ruin your peace. Either way, beautiful views.
Visiting this park and seeing the glacier was probably one of the most unique and incredible experiences of my life. Watching the massive ice formations up close is already breathtaking, but hearing the glacier crack, break, and fall is something truly unforgettable — a sound I will never forget. It’s a powerful reminder of the beauty of nature, and at the same time a little sad, knowing how climate change threatens wonders like this. Walking around the park was equally enjoyable, as there are many different trails and viewpoints where you can observe the glacier from various heights and angles. Every spot offers a new perspective, making the visit feel fresh and exciting throughout. Absolutely worth experiencing at least once in your lifetime.
Very stunning view. One of the most beautiful things I have ever experienced. If you are a nature-lover, then this is a must see experience.
One of the most unique tidewater glaciers in the world as it offers a very rare viewing experience. To start this is deep blue not like most alpine glaciers which are a grey hue from it being covered in silt. This also does not require a wobbly boat to get to and others that offer boats cannot get that close because the boats have to be careful of calving icebergs. Here you can walk up close on the beautifully built viewing platform. Getting here is fairly easy as well since it’s a short ride from El Calafate which is well connected via buses from either puerto Natales or Ushuaia or any of the Patagonian towns. You did not need a tour guide. It’s walkable once you arrive at the location and it’s well established and built. It’s worth the trip from Calafate.
A little wait at park entrance. Parking was convenient. Trails marked well. Views were absolutely gorgeous and the trail took you to all the angles on the glacier. Although there were lots of people the trail flowed well.
One of the best destinations you must visit once in your life. It s much bigger and amazing than in photos.
The moment it comes into view, it's a massive, living beast of brilliant white and incredible blue, stretching out further than your eyes can even take in. The ice wall itself, around 70 metres tall, rising out of the turquoise Lake Argentino, feels almost impossible. You're just a speck, but you're connected to something ancient and immense. But what really makes it mind blowing is the constant, dramatic show it puts on. You don't just look at the glacier, you listen to it as well. The air is alive with groans, cracks, and then, out of nowhere, the roar of ice breaking off. Watching a piece crash into the lake, sending huge splashes and a deafening boom echoing everywhere, is a moment you'll never forget and gives you a shot of adrenaline you won't forget. The walkways are fantastic, giving you insane views from every angle. The blues in the ice vary from dark sapphire to aquamarine, changing with every shift in light. Visiting Perito Moreno is an experience that hits all your senses and will stick with you forever. You'll walk away with a smile on your face afterwards, carrying the memory of a powerful, humbling, and genuinely awe-inspiring example of a wonder of our world. If you can get the chance to visit, grab it with both hands.

Very informative, can't believe I almost skipped this! Amazing views from the area, cool free tours, tickets is $20 dlls or so and $10 extra for the frozen bar that includes a drink. Staff was knowledgeable and fun. Make sure you visit before or after your glacier visit.
Solid museum worth 2 hours! There is a lot of great information on the science of glacier formation, historic explorers, and regional glaciers. There are also neat films of Perito Moreno. I don’t think this is a good museum for kids though, since the exhibits are almost exclusively plaques of detailed small text. As an adult I loved it though! FYI there’s a free shuttle that leaves from Calafate downtown at the top of every hour (as of April 2025) and returns to town at the half hour mark.
I was pleasantly surprised. I want expecting much but it was well done. Informative exhibits which were very relaxant after coming from Perito Moreno Glacier. A short movie showing the collapse of the dome. Took about 1.5 hrs to go through it checking out and reading everything.
Amazing lookout view. Friendly staff and great exhibition. recommended
Really well curated little museum covering geology, history and the effects of climate change. Good way to spend a couple of hours. Also has some lovely books in the gift shop. Just avoid the café which sells the most disgusting coffee at a hugely inflated price
The museum is great and exhibitions are interesting but they need to hire English speaking person and ask them to read everything in English and fix the mistakes.
Love it! Learned a lot about glaciers. They even have VR experiences. I also tried the glacier bar 💯 I got free transport from Calafate downtown to the museum (back and forth)
Really interesting and informative displays and models about snow, ice and glaciers. Also the history of Glaciology and the pioneer explorers. Amazing films about the Moreno glacier and the arch collapsing after blocking the lake! The ice bar is fun and worth the extra 3000. (Combined ticket 10 000). Gift shop and cafe on site too. Definitely worth the visit when in town. Free shuttle from the centre (see location on Google maps)

Prominent 3,405-m. mountain in Patagonia offering hiking & climbing routes with dramatic views.
Slide 1 of 8
The view is really nice at the end of the trek. I recommend you to come for the sunrise, the colors of the sunrise reflect on the Fitz Roy which makes the moment magical The Fitz Roy mountain range is the one featured on the Patagonia brand logo!
The trek from El Chalten to Fitz Roy was not easy at first. However, the clear waters of Lake Capri, the flawless blue sky, and the majestic peaks that we encountered after struggling to climb gave us an indescribable sense of emotion.
Long hike up to 24-25km return, with awesome view. Definitely a challenging hike up at the last stretch, with strong cold wind with snows at times.
This mountain in Patagonia and near to Chaltén village is a majestic peak surrounded by natural beauty areas.
The magic must seat mountain outside of El Chaten! The first stop on a multi day hiking & backpacking expedition with Photopills, we hiked to viewpoints just below the peak and then around to the backside and Cerro Torre. Amazing area
What a beautiful hike. We did this hike in about 6 hours. I know it says 8-12 on different websites, but it wasn’t a bad hike at all. The last part before you get up to the lake is a lot of elevation in less than a mile. Lots of people on the hike and it’s very well marked.
Fitz Roy -- A tale of granite mountain in Patagonia shaped by nature and time . I would recommend starting early in the morning to spend more time and enjoy the view .. Start before 7 am (personal suggestion). Entry fees is 45000 pesos ,if you start after 8-9 am . The first 2 kilometers of the trek and the last 1.5 kilometers is hard . Bring enough food (since the trek takes around 7-10 hrs ), i wont suggest carrying more water , after 7-8 km you have the glacier flow water to drink . If you want hiking poles you can rent them in the shops . Dont forget to cover both the lakes -- Laguna Madre (mother) and Laguna Hija (daughter)
Wow. It’s drop your jaw gorgeous. Highly recommend you start early before the 7am busses arrive. It’s worth it not only for the way up, but more importantly on the way back down the narrow path passing all those people.

Tranquil parkland offering sanctuary to many indigenous bird species, such as flamingos & swans.
Slide 1 of 8
We visited the Reserva Laguna Nimez during our stay in El Calafate, and it was a lovely experience. The visit takes about one to one and a half hours at a relaxed pace, following a peaceful trail that loops around the lagoon. The entrance fee is 12,000 ARS per person, which feels fair considering the beauty of the place and the tranquility it offers. You can see a wide variety of birds, including flamingos, ducks, and many local species, it’s a real paradise for bird lovers and photographers. The landscape is stunning, with views of the lagoon, the steppe, and the Andes in the background. The paths are easy to walk and well maintained, making it accessible for most visitors. It’s a perfect stop if you want to enjoy nature, take a break from the busy town, and experience a different side of Patagonia. Bring a camera and take your time, it’s well worth it!
I am a big nature fan and so when I had a few hours to kill while in town, I decided to come over here and check it out. The reserve is taken care of very nicely and there is a lot of birdlife to view. The price was a little steep, if I recall about the equivalent of $10, but I suppose that is also to help out the refuge since it is privately run. If you have the time, this is a nice stop while in town, but I would not go out of my way to visit either.
We had a lovely stroll around the reserve. It was quite windy and I was a tad underdressed, so we rushed it a bit. But it was beautiful. We had drinks at a cool cafe/bar afterwards! Across the street.
The Laguna itself was great with great wildlife visible for us. However, what really made me sad is that I saw two white horses in really bad condition tied up outside of the Laguna for several days in a row without appropriate feed or water. As a place preserving wildlife providing good care of local animals should be a no-brainer. Otherwise a beautiful place.
It is walking distance from downtown El Calafate. What you can see is purely depended by weather. The weather was okay when I started, but soon I encountered unexpected rain and snow, so I did not see much at all except goose everywhere and flamingo at distance, bird observation stations did not help either.
What a beautiful place! We spent 1½-2h there. It's "just" a beautiful path through through this little nature reserve with some information signs. But there are so many birds and you can observe them from the path or some observations stands and little refugios. Winds are strong there, beware! The lady at the entrance was nice and explained as a lot. There is also a toilet in the entrence building. Absolutely worth the entry fee.
Nimes Lagoon, an important bird watching centre in El Calafate, 25 minute walk. We saw Upland Geese, black-faced ibis with their long curly like beaks, Southern Lapwing, flamingos and many others. From the reserve you could also walk down to the shore of Lake Argentino. We did this. On the shore we found a Lapwing nest with four eggs in it guarded by two Lapwings, we thought the nest was dangerously exposed to predators and peoples’ dogs that were out on the beach.
Beautiful nature walk through a peaceful bird sanctuary. Give yourself about 1-1/2 hours to fully enjoy the loop that takes you on a path through rolling fields to Lago Argentino for exquisite viewing of the birdlife.

What a great experience. The cliff walk is spectacular with heaps of places to rest and take photos. The signage can be a bit confusing at the top but all roads led to the bottom so you really can’t get lost. Overall it is a great way to experience the glacier from land and see it from many different angles and vantage points. Not to be missed!
Great walk with plenty of spots to rest and take photos. The track is well maintained, and the path is easy to follow. A fantastic way to take in the glacier’s views and sounds from land, enjoying it from many different angles and vantage points.
Fantastic views of the Perito Moreno glacier. I recommend doing a boat tour as well if your budget allows, but the views from these "balconies" are outstanding!
We took the yellow one and it was worth it, it’s small but the closest you can get from the glaciar. Very beautiful!!!
One of the best places to visit in the Patagonia I’ll probably come again and make some trekking tour in the glaciers. Amazing places, also you can easily spot the detachment of big blocks of ice, which, when falling into the water, form the typical icebergs
The Perito Moreno Glacier is absolutely breathtaking and truly one of the most impressive natural sights we’ve ever seen. The scale, the colors, and the sound of the ice breaking make it an unforgettable experience. The boat tour is really worth it — getting close to the glacier gives you a completely different perspective and lets you appreciate its massive size even more. The walkways are also fantastic, offering several viewpoints and angles, so you can take your time and enjoy the glacier from above. Overall, a spectacular experience that you shouldn’t miss when visiting Patagonia!
God’s amazing creation— we were in awe with how amazingly beautiful this place is! Different walks/trails to follow. There is a free bus ride from the parking lot (if with private car). Souvenir shops, dining area and toilets available but the resto can really get busy. Before getting here, you’ll come across a checkpoint for staff to see your ticket.
Went with my wife on October 16, 2025. What impressed me the most about this glacier( if I compare it with others I have seen in Alaska and Iceland) is its deep blue color. Also, the walkways allow you to see the glacier from many angles(top/bottom or sides). The walkways are sturdily constructed and there are seats along the way where you can rest.

(Translated by Google) We went today 08/07/2022, the first part up to 3km has some complicated slopes due to the amount of slippery ice there is, the worst part was where there is a chain nailed to a stone, the ground was with super slippery blocks of ice and Next to it there was a very large slope, but luckily we were able to pass. From 4km onwards everything is quite easy, it's just a walk and some ups and downs but easy. The path was well marked by footprints of people who had climbed before. Yes or if you have to go with crampons at this time, otherwise there is no way to do it, the trekking pole is also useful. There are bathrooms at several stops. The lagoon was completely frozen but it was beautiful. Gorgeous spot on the walking trail right next to the beautiful lake! Snowy mountains and green forest!
The nature of the place is fantastic! The wind is incredibly strong! The trails are well marked and well maintained. The views are magnificent! Lots of people walking on the trails. It is suitable for people who do not do sports. Toilet does not work and they do not warn you at the trailhead. Lots of wildlife, birds, eagles.
This is giving you the best stop on the way to Fitzroy: you can actually drink this water, you can admire the mountain reflecting themselves in the lake if the wind isn't strong, you can relax on the little beach, and you can use the services if needed. There is a camp right there as well.
I passed by here. The camp ground has less people and 2/3 toilet. View is good, but seems quite windy.
Small caping area with toilet and very nice views of Fitz Roy. If you want to spent some time in nature you can go there with tent a spent a night there. Place is covered from direct wind and under trees but be aware of falling branches.
One of the best places i have visited in my life. ❤️
Very nice place to see the sunrise, on the "laguna de los tres" trek. Easy to get there. Wake up early to see the Fitz Roy shinning.

Beautiful waterfall, where you can hang arround and chill by the water. There's also a path that leads to the top, and can get a different view and calmness. I was lucky enough to encounter 3 woodpeckers, very close to the fall. Had a great time
Not far from city for walking and don’t need to pay entrance fee. But you need to walk on the main road that hv the ton of dusk when car passing. The waterfall is beautiful in falls season but it’s just small waterfall
The trail is easy to walk for anyone, including children. Theres not much elevation and still if you want to make it easier you can always walk through the route instead of the walking trail. Great for a nice and short walk if you have some spare time in El Chalten.
This is one of the free walks/hikes in El Chaltén and an absolute must-do. The trail is very flat, making it an easy and enjoyable walk, and it only takes about an hour to reach the destination. The scenery along the way is quite picturesque, adding to the charm. There’s a car park available at the site, and toilets are provided, but be prepared—bring your own toilet paper and hand sanitizer, as the facilities were in poor condition when we visited. One of the best parts is that there’s no park fee, so it’s a great option for anyone exploring El Chaltén on a budget. Highly recommended!
very pretty waterfall and the hike isn’t too far off of the main road. you can park in the main carpark for a short walk, or you can do it as part of a 1.5km hike :)
The waterfall is not very big and amazing, but if you have about 2 hours and don't know how to spend it - have a walk to it. Compared to other points of interest, the road is flat and takes 30-40 min to get there from the end of the city or just 5 min from the parking near the waterfall. The water is clear and you can drink it, as well as there're a lot of calafate berries nearby.
Beautiful waterfall! Pretty full of people midday but worth it for the view! To avoid paying to get into the park, you walk up the road instead which I imagine isn’t as pretty of a walk as the trail
A beautiful walk from El Chalten to this waterfall, one hour at slow step but it's worth the effort no doubt.

Al glaciar Upzala no podemos acercanos tanto debido a que su proceso de "deshielo" o sus desprendimientos son más avanzados por lo que muchos de los tempanos de alrededor del lago argentino provienen del Upzala.

the museum was free. the large garden had samples of native plants, antique tools and machinery and the dedication of this amazing national park. the staff was very helpful and friendly with any question regarding flora, fauna or even excursions. there was a database of tour providers for each category of tours. the introductory video is quite amazing.
Fun.park to spend some time at when your in town.
One of the nicest visitor centers I have seen during my travels. There's a little museum inside and outside. Staff is very friendly and gives you good advice. Thanks
Free museum. Worth a walk - takes 10-15 minutes.
Very scenic Parque Nacional with beautiful views of lake, mountains, waterfalls & vegetation.
This is a very nice park to visit to see local machinery and to better understand how this city evolved over time into the largest city in this part of Argentina.
Pretty garden, short opening hours, FILTHY bathrooms.
Walk the different routes in los glacier. Different views of the glaciers

Museum tracing the natural history of Southern Patagonia, from dinosaur fossils to human artifacts.

We enjoyed our visit to this museum a lot. It consists of 5 rooms, covering the history of Patagonia from the age of dinosaurs to today, with a special focus on the native inhabitants and the war European waged on them. It portays everything in a very understandable and straightforward manner and I had several Aha-moments. Audi guides in I think 9 languages are available, but even with basic Spanish the texts on the walls are helpful and interesting. Generally, they put a lot of thought into how to present information in a digestible way. In summary, I'd really recommend coming here. You will learn a lot - and see some awesome dinosaur skeletons on top! What more can one want? 😀
Seems as though as usual they will charge what ever price they feel at the time. I called and was advised 14,000 peso when I got there it was 15,000 peso? Like what the hell. In all honesty it’s not the price it’s the fact that I’m finding a common occurrence with how they think visitors are stupid. Well I do not recommend this place at all. Don’t waste your time. It’s a shed and common knowledge of you have an education. Nothing is authentic it’s all fake garbage. ——————————————————————— Thank you for your prompt reply. It seems you missed the point. The point is i came with exactly 14,000 peso because that is what you told me. It’s the inconvenience of having to return to my hotel over $.80 as you put it. So please be more respectful to your customers.
Nice and cozy little museum with a small cafeteria. Covers the history beginning with dinosaurs up to present day. Explaining the "not so nice" history of the 19-20th century. Spent there like 2,5 hours and could do a one hour more Worth a visit, yet a little expensive for what they offer. 14 000 AP for non Argentinians.
Very well structured museum, covering from dinosaurs until today! Must see to understand the history of the area (and before)
Was not open at the advertised time, but did open about 30 minutes late. The chap who opened up was not really up to the task (he said he was sick, but was more likely stoned ... dark sunglasses he wouldn't remove, slurred speech, stumbling about, and asking for payment twice). The museum was great, very informative and well set out.
Very informative museum about Patagonian history and the people that inhabited these lands.
We had never expected local history going back to the dinosaurs... This is a pleasant museum with a lot of info on animals and later the people indigenous and pioneers. It is well done and we spent a good hour there. It is a bit chilly so keep that in mind. If you need english, they have a folder with all the texts in english, ask for it. The locals usually don't speak english; google translate goes a long way. Totally recommend it!
Definitely I recommend to visit it in your visit to Calafate. It's a small museum but lot of information. It's like walking through time, start with dinosaurs and the fisrt culture in La Patagonia. It has also a special section for The Tehuelches, it was really emotional. Great experience!!

Here we go, the first day of our 3-day Patagonian trekking adventure, in El Chalten to see the glorious Fitz Roy snowy peak. The hike up was kinda steep but the trekking pole helped. Just make sure you adjust your pole correctly to your height. And an important tip: plant your pole close or beside you— not outward not diagonally. The tour ended in the shallow basin of a picturesque waterfall where you can wade barefoot in the slightly freezing water. If I had known ahead of time I would’ve brought my aqua shoes and a bimpo towel but that didn’t stop me from taking a refreshing feet plunge.
Super beautiful landscape a must in el Chalten we did sounds with instruments and 3 condors were above our heads, it’s a short walk and in 25 minutes you are there, magnificent view
El Chalten is an area of breathtaking scenary, the mountains rise up vertically making for amazing photos. There are numerous day hikes that you can do from any one of the many trails in and around the town to experience this wilderness. The town itself is merely to support tourists and climbers. During winter it was really quite with most places closed. The experience is not about the town but rather the countryside around it, just amazingly beautiful.
This trekking trail has a viewpoint with view to the famous Fritz Roy Mountain one of the most difficult climb mountain
Quite easy but windy hike, this review goes mostly to the National Park organizers that charge 45 thousand pesos for small trails and they dont invest money!!! look at the toilets in the picture please 🤢🤢🤢
Very nice viewpoint; one of the not quite many easily accessible ones from which Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre can be seen together. Somewhat steeper but very passable trail; nice place for sunrises and sunsets (quieter at these times too).
Great spot to watch the sunset - very easy hike that can be done in 20 minutes to the top, all uphill but not strenuous. Great views over the town and to the mountains in the west as well as rainbow mountain to the east. Lovely end to a light day of hiking before full day treks. Well signposted and great views had of condors.
Really cool walk, very easy to do. We arrived in El Chalten around mid-afternoon and wanted to tick off somewhere to see. The map said it would take around an hour but it was much quicker than that, around 40mins at a good pace. Nice views of the town! The wind can be quite strong at times so be careful.
