Schloss Friedenstein is a very large castle but one only gets to see a small portion of it. The castle has seen better days and needs some serious renovation. However, what you do get to see is worth going for. Several rooms have beautiful decor and furnishing. The entrance fee is also very reasonable. There is a restaurant on the castle ground but it was unfortunately closed when we were there.

This place is like a time machine. The moment you enter you feel like you're back to the baroque era. The mesum presents an amazing and unique history of the city.

Has some interesting exhibitions and is overall an enjoyable experience. We liked the availability of full audio guide support and the huge funny slippers you had to wear on the main floor.

Lovely place to visit and there's a lot more to see than I thought (wasn't my main point of visit actually) so I spent longer time than I allocated. Worth a visit. Buy tickets at the Museum Shop before going upstairs to the museum.

The place is a treasure trove of exhibits and history affine kids will love it. Plan to spend at least three hours to cover all that can be seen. During our stay there was a little snack bar in the castle yard that served delicious cakes.
