The site features an archaeological area rich in history, complemented by three museums that showcase a variety of artifacts and exhibits related to the region's cultural heritage. Additionally, there is a historic church that has been converted into a mosque, further demonstrating the area's diverse religious background. Surrounded by stunning landscapes, this location invites visitors to immerse themselves in its profound historical significance and natural beauty.
A large castle site, with the keep offering a good view of the area. Large parts of the castle is lost to the undergrowth. They maintain the keep and the museum. Toilet signs are confusing, but they're in the keep (fort) up the hill. That disabled toilet has seen no use in months, if not years.
Lovers of fascinating antiquities will definitely enjoy the castle museums, while photography enthusiasts will find numerous photogenic locations and insta-spots. The city's history museum is definitely worth exploring, housing various artifacts of Greek history.
It is a superb example of 16th-century defensive architecture and features thick walls, bastions, and a hexagonal citadel. Exploring the ramparts and gateways gives you panoramic views over the sea and the town. To fully enjoy the experience, wear sturdy shoes and take your time navigating the steeper or uneven paths. The blend of sea, stone, and historical layers makes Niokastro a truly memorable visit.
A beautiful site giving spectacular views of the bay from the walls. Therebisca lot to see as the castle covers a large area.pne of the best sites I have visited in greece. It is possible to walk some areas of the walls but health and safety is not paramount in these places so it is neccesary to supervise children and care must be taken as there is no hand rails or barriers in place on steps and the walls. Had a great few hours there and it is well worth a visit. I think that the entrance fee was 10 euros but well worth the cost. There is also a museum on site. The site is slowly being renovated and I would like to visit some time in the future to see the results. But I think that completion is going to be a long way off. Beautiful area well worth the visit. We also did a boat tour of the bay with stops at historical sites and for swimming and snorkeling which was very interesting and informative. 20 euros for 3 hours.
--- 8th October --- Beneath the cliffs where Nestor once did reign, And olive groves drank sun and salt and rain, A bay lay sleeping, wide and deep and still Till cannon roared to break an empire’s will. The mastheads rose like forests on the sea, Three nations met where Greece longed to be free. The wind grew loud with smoke and iron breath, And freedom danced between the jaws of death. No trumpet called, yet hearts like lightning burned. The tide of war had silently turned. Navarino - where tyrants met their fate, And Greece was lifted by the hand of fate. Not just by sword, but will and foreign grace, She carved her name on time’s eternal face. And though the ships are gone, the bay still knows The fire that fell, and the wind that rose.
Worth the visit. Admission gets you access to three museums and the archeological site. The views are breathtaking. There is a lot of climbing and walking.
It was so interesting to see an ancient greek fort. The view was gorgeous and the rooms were so cool.

Excellent service. Staff very helpful. Fantastic view of the sunset.
Awful experience Don't book this! Dirty, rusty and we were sort of scammed. The property is dirty and everything is full of rust (even the towels), toilet was a disaster. Very basic kitchen equipment. No difference between suite and villa (villa has the car garage at ground floor but the living surface upstairs is exactly the same while the price much higher), no beach experience at all, the view is in a busy parking. And the manger double charged us. The initial booking was for 2 adults (I thought this was an apartment with 2 bedrooms as pictures/ description showed so i did not think the number of persons in the family mattered). When we showed up the manager was very offensive and aggressive on the phone when finding out we have 2 kids with us, threatening to cancel our non refundable booking if more than 2 people show up. He said he would only accept us if we pay 50 euro per child per night (twice the price he charged on his website for booking that day for 2 adults vs 2adults+2 kids). He also pushed for a villa (not sea-front) saying the suite is not available and he had changed our reservation from suite to villa after a telephone conversation when I only asked (without firmly changing the reservation). Terrible way to treat customers, he also appeared racist saying he is 'from Greece not from Turkey'. Avoid! There so many other newer and cleaner properties in the area better priced and better quality.
Perfect location, across from a beautiful sandy beach, Host Aris was very helpful, with advice on eating and site seeing :) daily housekeeping is part of the service, only 2 things weren't to our liking, we were charged 30 euros a day for our 3 dogs in case they make a mess, we made sure we kept the place very clean. We didn't even need daily housekeeping. Like our own home. We were also charged extra ,as I accidently ticked 1 adult instead of 2 but wrote to them immediately explaining my mistake although there was a double bed in the apartment. Need to be more careful next time 🙄
Great place with fantastic sea view. Very close to the sand beach. Good surfing and kitesurfing spot. Thumb up for a garage ;) Recommended by @Wojtek OnBoard
This is an amazing complex with sea front location, newly refurbished with nice parking slots in the shade. The house has 2 rooms both with access to a nice sea view balcony . Very comfortable bed and simple decoration offering a relaxing holiday. Costa navarino is very near as well as voidokilia beach and the beach romanos which is in front of the hotel is something to remember . Fine gold sand with sunbeds and umbrellas
Very glad I booked this place. The facility manager Yiannis is the heart and soul of spending your vacation here and will not hesitate to help with anything. The available equipment in the house has almost no limits. You live by the sea, but everything is nearby.
Perfect holiday houses on the best beaches we have ever seen. The houses are lovely, seafront next to Costa navarino complex . Romanos village is walking distance. We will recommend
Clean, next to the sea and close to the village. Has all needed amenities and is spacious for a large family. The surrounding area is full of trees and birds. I'd definitely come again

We have probably the very best cocktails in our 5 weeks travels in Greece so far at the Karelis Bar My pina colada i would have to say was the finest I’ve ever had in my life Made with love and attention to detail My wife had a cocktail with Masticha spirit ( a gum that grows on Chios Island) that was evocative The bar itself is super chilled with awesome spectacular views of the Bay of Navarino This is very best bar in Pylos And is excellent to bring. Group of friends to chill out to Our host Elias was fabulous He was oozing energy and treated us like family Highly highly recommend A drink here is unforgettable
Best terrace in town : Amazing spot to gaze at sunset with a nice cocktail.
Amazing location under the castle and on the rocks at Pylos. Friendly staff and comfortable deck loungers. One disadvantage for me is the music that goes loud and latin in the afternoon. Juices and snacks are very nice.
It's a hotel bar right on top of a rock allowing you to dive right into the sea. Beautiful setting and prices are decent. Not cheap but not excessive either. A must if you are in pilos.
Lovely place, friendly staff.
(Translated by Google) This is the perfect place with the most hospitable hosts! Hardly any place in the world was more beautiful. We were here in low season, but were welcomed with open arms and allowed to use the loungers by the sea, even though we weren't hotel guests. Just a dream!
(Translated by Google) Very nice view... but they kicked us out at 8:30 PM... because in 30 minutes, as the waitress informed us... the bar would close... that is, at 9:00 PM... (Translated by Google) We arrived around 6:45 PM and the bartender refused to serve us a drink. Apparently, they closed at 7 PM. What cocktail bar closes at 7 PM? There was already no one there when we arrived. I strongly advise against it. Really unpleasant staff. Natural sandy beach with changing cabin and shower. Gradual entrance to the sea, Very comfortable for walks along the coast.
Very nice beach where you can't pitch your own umbrella. Had a chair rail for elderly or those with mobility challenges that allowed people to go into water. Also permanent umbrellas, rinse showers and toilets. Plenty of shady parking across the street.
It's not the pretiest beach, but it's very long and there are sunbeds and a beachbar at one end. It's ok for passing the hours before sunset.
A nice beach. It's mainly sand but also very small rocks.
Visiting this beach for 15 years. It's quiet, clean, spacious, nice waters, not too shallow, not too deep, has coffee and food if you want but also can be left alone with land-fields at your back. There is no reason to visit any other beach in the area, with or without kids.
A beach with clean water so that you can see the fish. Good food and drink. The beach is sandy and the water is warm. Recommend 👍🍹

Can you imagine a castle built entirely for children, where adults aren’t allowed to stay at? The 925 sqm Sand Castle is a small hotel for children, located within the Costa Navarino Resort in Messinia, Greece, on a 1800 sqm plot. Inspired by sand castles, it has been especially designed for children at the ages of 5-7 and 8-12 years, providing various programs according to age (as well as theatrical stages and points of communication both in- and outside of the building) and offering half-day or full-day packages. Its form reminds one of the Navarino bay itself with its never-ending dune. So, naturally, the Sand Castle’s programs of playing with sand, sculpting and mixing, are translated into the very architectural forms that gave birth to the building itself. But, careful, nothing is strict here. Not even the lines of the structure, there’s no horizontal or vertical, when it comes to them. This is after all a castle for children, and children do not even use these words. But it is a safe and calm place –that seems like an archetypical community of some kind- for them to be themselves (under the constant yet discreet observation by the staff). Where each day of the week has a different theme, including Battles and Treasures of Navarino Dunes, Hercules and the First Olive Tree and Filoxenia; The Art of Friendship. A trully educational and creative environment, including over-night stays, as well as water-related sports and exciting activities where they can practice the martial arts of ancient Sparta; unearth secrets as a junior archaeologist or delve into the magical world of Greek mythology. Needless to say, this “hug” was constructed by natural and eco-friendly materials, such as wood and sandstone. No wonder it feels so natural to hide within and play with.
Safe child entertainment with many play options for the little ones. A bit pricey.

An interesting museum, laid out in the modern fashion, covering the history of the area. Small, but well displayed, with some interesting Mycenean era exhibits. Had some Greek middle man with a limp shuffle over, saying something loud and dramatically in Greek. But you sometimes get odd staff at these places.
Great views, enormous fortess, good price, but opening hours not updated.
The Archaeological Museum of Pylos is located inside the impressive Niokastro (New Fortress), which already makes the visit feel special. The museum itself is small but beautifully arranged and easy to explore. It focuses on the ancient history of the region, especially finds from nearby sites like the Palace of Nestor and Iklaina. One of the highlights is the Mycenaean pottery and very early Linear B tablet, which is fascinating to see up close. The exhibits are modern and well-lit, with good descriptions in both Greek and English. The staff are friendly and happy to answer questions. It doesn't take long to visit maybe 30 minutes - but it's full of interesting artifacts and stories. Plus, you get to walk around the fortress afterward and enjoy great views of Navarino Bay. Definitely worth a stop if you're in Pylos.
Well worth a visit. Adults pay €10,- entrance fee. Children have free entrance. Small museum with excellent finds. Located at impressive archeological site worh beautiful views. There are some strict guards in the museum itself, who say 'don't touch' as soon as you even point at something. Not very necessary since most items are behind glass anyway. They made my kids a little jumpy 😅. There is a little shipwreck museum a little further away on the property, that is also worth a visit. There's a beautiful church on the site as well, which could have done with some info on site.
We loved this small museum. It completes the story of Pylos and of Nestor's palace. Also,it is very modern and well done. Maybe not much objects, but each is a piece of art, chosen carefully. Great place.
A pleasant surprise. We didn't plan to go, but luckily we went an hour and a half before closing and enjoyed the exhibits and information, as well as the exhibition on the shipwrecks of the area.
This museum is really of high quality. The showcases are well readable, informative and modern/creatively decorated. It is one of three museums on the archeological side and although the other one's are also really good, this one is a high light. You only need about 30 minutes to one hour for the museum but combined with the other one's and the archeological side, it is well worth it.
Well worth thw time to wander around, particularly for the archeological information.

You don't go here for the tomb. You come here for the views. The views from the top overlooking the beach and the sea are breathtaking. Perfect photo spot, postcard worthy.
I visited the site on a beautiful hot July day. The view is spectacular and the site very well preserved and maintained. I would visit it on the same day as visiting the beautiful beach of Vaidikilia
The ruins can be reached after a 5 minutes walk from the Voidokoilia beach. The path is somewhat rough but doable even with for flipflops. The tomb itself is nothing spectacular, but it is freely accessible. What is amazing is the view from above, overlooking the beach.
It's not so impressive. there's no tomb of Tholos ,it's basically just a bunch of rocks and a ruined structure. It's not surprising , it's thousands of years old. Maybe if it was appreciated by the Greeks earlier in history, it could've been saved.
The small tomb might seem unremarkable at first glance, appearing as if it has been abandoned. Its weathered stones and overgrown surroundings give it an air of neglect. However, once you reach the top, you are rewarded with a breathtaking view that completely transforms your perspective. From this vantage point, the landscape unfolds in all its glory.
A wealth of flora, fauna, stunning scenery and cascading waterfalls running through a lush covered ravine. What a joy to visit and cool down in this naturally air conditioned microcosm of tranquillity and discovery. Greece at its best?
The tomb was uneventful. However, the view is spectacular.
Worth to visit, when going to nearby beaches. Nice view
