I went here with my wife for a birthday present drive of the FV432 personnel carrier tank and it was amazing Ben the instructor took me through health and safety and then onto the vehicle with detailed explanation and off we went a brilliant experience a must do thing. When we arrived as early we had a quick wander around the museum exhibits then a better look after the drive just so many vehicles on display in numerous halls, tanks, bridge vehicle, rocket launchers, ambulances, army naval regalia, old guns, ammunition, intricate models of battles, ships and so much more. We ended at the cafe with coffee tea and cake but plenty of other quality homemade food available with an views out to sea. I couldn't resist buying some memorabilia on the way out via the shop the 2 assistants were very friendly and informative about the private collection as was Ben. The Savory family deserve world acclaim for putting this unique and possibly largest display in Europe of military hardware and associated items for us all to see and learn about. The tank drive should be put onto Virgin experiences if not already it will attract more visitors and grow the footfall I feel sure this is a quiet hidden gem that needs shouting about.
An excellent museum where I spent 3 hours including the £3 lorry ride on the coast. A lot of weapons, behind glasses, and Eastern. The café has good prices too. Artillery pieces, medium and lights tanks and armoured vehicles. And engineering vehicles too. This museum definitely has its value for money and is interesting with to visit.
Interesting museum if history of military is your thing, it does have some local history also. Lots to see here so allow 3hrs plus. Large onsite cafe with a varied menu, VG friendly. Dogs allowed onsite but not in the museum. We found it a little tricky with our sons large wheelchair to navigate the many twists n turns to get through but that said we did manage it, we wanted the cafe first but had to go through the whole museum to get to it which was a little challenging. We had hoped the museum offered concessions for carers or seniors but there are none. The museum is well kept has an outside area with a fabulous view and you can bring your own picnic.
Too much for a short visit, with dogs in the car. Fantastic though, with history of the area, a real feel of what it was like stuck on the N Norfolk coast in a tent! Wonderful machinery and wartime kit. Highly recommended but allow at least an hour.
Lovely collection of interesting military artifacts and local history from the base on site. Lucky enough to have a couple of F15's fly over as a freebie! Second visit and would happily visit again next time we are in the area.
Well worth the visit to see so many military weapons and uniforms and donated personnel items from before WW1 and after WW2, Lots on interesting items to look at and read the history behind the base from the roman empire to the present day, lots of tanks, vehicles and models to keep everyone occupied as you walk thru the different exhibition spaces
Museum is full of interesting military memorabilia. Everything from bayonets to full size horse replicas. There are also an impressive collection of military vehicles. I was lucky enough to enjoy the tank driving experience. What an absolute blast!! 3 circuits of an off road track which was an amazing experience. Thank you to Ben for being brave enough to let me control the beastie!! Great afternoon out with a cafe on site for tea and cake plus clean modern toilet facilities.
Great museum with some interesting full size and model military items. Great hand fun collection. Recommended the DAF truck ride!
