Amazing view of Wolfgangsee from the peak.it takes around 10 mins to reach to the peak with cable car. It's a beautiful hiking trail.can easily spend 4-5 hours here. The night before we went it had snowed quite a bit, n it was amazing to walk around in fresh snow. There's a lil restaurant which offers good food.
We spent about 4 hours with kids, traveled by a cable car...5 people cost 148€ up and down
It's a mountain peak of St.Gilgen and Wolfgangsee. Just takes 10 minutes to reach the peak. There is a restaurant at the mountain for refreshing. Walking trails are having some amazing views.
Amazing view The price of cable car is about 30 euros There were many people going up to the mountain although it was cold
Great, sometimes challenging trail, but views and beer on the top are worth it. Horses and cows everywhere. :) I reccommend it. About 3 hours to the top and 2 hours back to Sankt Gilgen - ordinary walking.
Beautiful views over the lakes in Salzkammergut
Love the mountain, great nature. Great landscape view of lake wolfgangsee and sankt gligen, you can see much of other mount peeks of austrian and german alps. Cable cars are amazing and clean and take u to the right place. It has a good cafeteria and very clean bathroom. Very good place for a hike. I really recommend.

Fantastic coffee and pastry shop! One of the best places to visit in the village of St. Gilgen. The coffee is indeed amazing and the pastries are delicious. The staff was very friendly and spoke very good English. The shop has large indoor seating on two floors. The prices are reasonable. One of the most popular places for tourist groups as well. Located right beside the town hall.
Coffee wasn't very good- tasted like cheap machine coffee. The sweets are recommended. The bread from the breakfast menu is microwaved.
A quaint little cafe with an excellent selection of delicious cakes. We absolutely loved it.
Do not go there! Very nice plum tart, nice coffee, nicely decorated room, clean toilets.....but EXTREMELY RUDE BARTENDER. I asked to pay and he started insulting me (and all foreigners in general) in German. I asked him to stop being rude and this prompted even more insults. The owner sais she knew he was rude and added: ‘what can I do?’!!!! Reminded me of the worst hours in France from 1940 onwards....
Nice and very friendly service. This place serves good coffee and decent cakes. Cash only, so if you are adept of credit cards like me, go to atm (100 meters away) before you order not after it))
Coffeehouse from the previous century. Don't expect a post-modern interieur or a politically correct menu. This is a place to indulge in classical Austrian type coffees, pastries, pralines, ice cream, cakes, including those the owners invented, like the Mozart Reisetorte (Mozart Travel Cake) - to my taste much better than the famous Sachertorte. If you come here to save money, or for some vegan three - leaves salad, you're in the wrong place. The former German chancellor Helmut Kohl frequented this Cafe when vacationing in St. Gilgen. Whatever his policies, when it came to food, he loved, quite obviously and hedonistic, the good stuff. Visit, indulge and enjoy. If you think you've overindulged, there are dozens of mountains to climb around Lake Wolfgang...
We had delicious coffee and delicious cake with three different layers & heartwarming Goulash soup served with freshly warm bun
The loveliest Sachertorte I have ever tasted and I have tasted MANY. Better than even the ones from Hotel Sacher.

Just had the most inspiring, heart felt, educational cultural experience, graciously hosted by Herr Askold, who also performed on more than a dozen instruments live before us. Please please please visit this amazing museum if you are here! I have met very few people with Herr Askold's dedication and knowledge of his instruments and the music. Amazing.
In the midst of all the beautiful landscapes of the area, this museum and Askold, it's curator, are treasures for the eyes, ears, and mind. Askold held my attention for an hour and a half with demonstrations of how some of the unusual instruments are played, how they are made, and how he acquired them as gifts or from his world travels.
We spent several hours in this small museum and thoroughly enjoyed it. The museum curator is exceptionally knowledgeable, skilled and pleasant and has excellent English for those of us whose German is not what it might be. Our 13 year old and 10 year old daughters also loved it. A really interesting place for anyone with an interest in historical musical instruments
If you're in the area you CANNOT miss this museum. We've been to so many museums in our life, but never has our experience been as deep and engaging as this particular museum. Our host/curator Askold was tremendously knowledgeable about the instruments, and demonstrated so many interesting ones from all over the world. His passion for his work is amazing, and it really shows in the way he pours his heart into presenting the various instruments. We came at a quiet time on a Wednesday afternoon and we're treated to a private "concert" with lots of explanations about the various instruments. Beyond the actual instruments and demonstration that Askold put on, the real takeaway from the museum is the deeply human experience that it was. The sheer joy of pursuing one's passion and sharing it generously with strangers - really an inspiration. Absolutely loved our time here!!
Very unique, fascinating and interesting experience in this small musical museum with more than 2000 instruments. We also heard a mini concert with explanations that was impressive. Askold was extremely fraindly and knowledgeable.
Such a great place run by a musical maestro. His knowledge and skill were incredible.
Wonderful place that's definitely worth a visit. We just had an hour till our bus, and decided to spend it there, and it was just a cherry on top of our day. We loved the collection and patience of the owners. We felt very welcomed here and were happy to hear how rare instruments sound. 100% recommended
I came here with my mother in 2018 and 7 years later I came back with my husband, I was so excited to bring him to this wonderful place. Please take the time to visit you still be so happy to have done so!

Personally think this is one of the prettiest lakes in the area with beautiful mountains. Great walking and bike paths around. Definitely recommend taking the cable car up the mountain. Was absolutely beautiful views up and down with the restaurants at the top!
One of the biggest lakes in Austria. The place is really beautiful and ideal for walking or chilling out with friends. There are couple of stores available around the place to serve all visitors. Car parkings are available. The weather there are amazing specially now in falls time.
Has very nice views especially on your way from Salzburg to Galgein . You can take an electric cable car (which we paid 31€ _discounted for students). The view at the top was a bit foggy at that time ,hence we couldn't get the views from the highest point.4 stars koz we missed the views from the top!
Wow this lake is beautiful. We walked clockwise from St. Gilgen for 7km towards Falkenstein, with a fantastic scenery over the lake and sorrounding mountains. We took the ferry back for a pleasant ride.
Wolfgangsee is a true gem in the Salzkammergut region, offering breathtaking Alpine scenery and crystal clear waters. It's a perfect destination for both relaxation and adventure. Visitors can enjoy swimming, various water sports, or simply soak in the stunning views from lakeside promenades. The charming towns like St. Wolfgang and St. Gilgen provide a delightful base, with historical sites and cozy restaurants. Don't miss a ride on the historic Schafberg Railway for panoramic vistas that will leave you speechless. Wolfgangsee truly embodies the idyllic beauty of Austria.
A beautiful lake in the heart of nature, surrounded by greenery – the water is cold, but great for swimming.
An amazing countryside. Very close to Salzburg if you want just a day trip but well worth spending more than that. There are several quaint towns around the lake… when you imagine sound of music countryside you can think of Wolfgangsee lake and its environs. Not saying this where sound of music was filmed.

(Translated by Google) Mini golf at Lake Wolfgangsee is rare. Maybe it's because of the individual opening times? We were there for free once because it was closed early in the afternoon. When we were allowed to get started, there was a short introduction, bat & ball. The tracks may be a bit old, but it was still fun. Typical mini golf - something for everyone. (Original) Minigolf am Wolfgangsee ist eher selten zu finden. Liegt es vielleicht an den individuellen Öffnungszeiten? Wir waren auch einmal umsonst da, weil zum frühen Nachmitag zu war. (Translated by Google) Unfortunately, my experience at the Gisa Leitgeb Minigolf in St. Gilgen was extremely disappointing. For the first time it was “heat-free” until 4 p.m. I suspect the operator turns off the heat at temperatures above 20°C. As soon as I entered the facility, I felt an inhospitable atmosphere. The owner seemed to have little interest in my presence and did not convey any friendliness. But it wasn't just the service that left something to be desired, the quality of the mini golf courses was also more than questionable. They were so crooked and uneven that smooth play was almost impossible. The problem was compounded when I noticed that the benches that were supposed to provide a quick respite were absolutely rotten and unstable. Even visitors with walking difficulties could hardly have sat on it without having to worry about collapsing. This lack of accessibility is unacceptable and shows a lack of care for the needs of all guests. It wasn't just the benches that were a nuisance, but also the condition of the facility itself. Weeds grew next to the lanes, and the lanes themselves were dirty and neglected. It seemed as if the operator made little effort to keep the facility tidy and ensure a pleasant gaming environment. Overall, my visit to the Gisa Leitgeb Minigolf left an extremely negative impression. The combination of the unfriendly owner, crooked tracks, rotten benches, unkempt surroundings and dirty tracks contributed to me not feeling welcome as a guest. When I spoke to the owner, after I described the situation and explained to her that my mother couldn't sit down because she had difficulty walking, she said that she would NOT take it to heart. You should then look for something else. I've never experienced anything so unfriendly. Never again!! Man sollte sich dann was anderes suchen. So was unfreundliches habe ich noch nie erlebt. Nie wieder!!

They showed me the bikes in the garage, and there were a ton of them. A full day was 16 euros, a half day was 10 euros, but since I had rented it for a long time (3 days), they reduced it to 30 euros. They filled the bikes with air, checked the brakes, wiped them down with a towel, and even showed me the location on a map. They were incredibly friendly and helpful. They spoke English very well, too. Highly recommended! Incidentally, there's an electric bike rental shop in the village across the river, near Schafberg. It's a bit more expensive, and I couldn't go that far anyway, so I didn't rent one. I think an electric bike would allow you to get around more. But if you're a serious cyclist, you should definitely get a regular bike! Anyway, I highly recommend this shop! My accommodations were so remote that I couldn't get by without a bike!
