Beautiful venue in the heart of Competa! Would not have changed a thing, perfect!
Advertised as a B&B, booked as a B&B. No Customer Service on Sundays when we arrived even though listed as 7 days a week. On our second day we were informed there is no breakfast! No hot water for two days and poor water pressure when available. Photos show a private terrace, it is overlooked by a rooftop bar in the next building! Shower broken upon arrival, fixed during our stay. Good location for exploring Còmpeta. We sadly won't return to Salamandra!
Really enjoyed my stay at this lovely B&B. Right in the main square, so lovely views from my room Lucerne, and 2 minutes down to the restaurants for breakfast and dinner. My room was spotlessly clean with lovely high quality bedding and a lovely warm duvet for December. Great smart TV and fridge for drinks. Gusto coffee machine a welcome addition. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you to the lady who cleans the rooms, my room was spotlessly clean.
I stayed in the El Sol apartment room for 3 nights in April 2023. My room had a lovely view over the Plaza and it was spotless. The bed was very comfortable and every day my room was cleaned with fresh towels provided. I would definitely recommend staying there and I will go back as soon as I can! Tracey Spicer
I really enjoyed staying here! The spacious room was very nice with a beautiful photo wall and a balcony overlooking the main square with a cute church. Everything was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The staff was very sympathetic and helpful with information for trekking in the nearby national park. They even sent an SD-Card from my camera, which I had lost in the room, to my home address in Germany – super super nice!
Absolutely brilliant! Easy to follow instructions as I arrived on a Sunday so collected key from safe- box. Great location, room amazing with great view & such a comfy bed. Good selection of places to have breakfast Already booked return visit
A superb place to stay! We just had 9ne night here but wish we had booked for longer. The arrangements for access are slick, the room was immaculately clean and the facilities were more than adequate. To have access to a terrace which overlooks the square was really special. The breakfast arrangement is a voucher which can be used at any of the restaurants nearby which was superb. Just loved the whole place and can't recommend enough.
The hotel is great, the view from the room of the lively square fantastic, we feared a lot of late night noise but the room was well insulated. The only minus was the extremely small room, that we didn't know about when we booked (el sol).We made do for 2 nights but felt really cramped, especially in the bathroom where there was no space to put toiletries. Roof terrace really nice. Don't make our mistake of parking your car in the designated market area.... it means you'll have to wait until the market ends before you can use it....

Visited here with a friend for a 3-day ride recently. I had never done off-road riding before, and I really enjoyed it. Some challenging hills and ground, but I soon got to grips with the bike and tried to drift the rear tyre. Graham was very helpful and full of knowledge to help me improve my riding. Day 3 was my favourite in the practice area, where I was able to get the bike off the ground for some jumps. I had rides on both 4-stroke and 2-stroke bikes. Can't wait to go back next year.
A great experience, and great information. Plenty of off road trips, into the mountains etc. Well worth a bash . Try it out it’s a scream .
We went in 2023, it was going down hill then. Graham is a nice guy but the bikes are too old and unreliable. If you are experienced rider who’s looking for good bikes and trails I would suggest you book with someone else.
Had a fantastic day with Graham. Was my wife’s first time on a bike, he instructed her well and made us both feel at ease. Super friendly guy. We will be back again for some trail riding!!!
Yes, there were some technical difficulties with the bikes. But, we rode the coolest trails in the Andalusian Mountains. Ask for Hugo as a guide in advance if you are a skilled group. I will return to ride with trailblazers.
AMAZING DAY OUT! Graham was super down to earth and run his business the same way; The day ride was filled with fun and is a must do activity when visiting Spain.
I have ridden here at least 5 times over the last years and have been fully satisfied everytime. There is a wide selection of bikes and gear to choose from and the guide takes you down very nice trails depending on your individual experience level.
We have done a 4 day biking holiday with Graham twice now, one was rearranged a few times due to covid last year but not a problem for them at all. The Hotel in Canillas was very nice and the biking days were amazing, Hugo is a great guide too. The Pool next to the bike base was great on a hot day after biking, much needed. Would definitely go back again.

The guide, Dani, is a charm, he drives like no one else along those complicated trails and knows the history of the area very well. We will repeat with them very soon and we will stay in some super cute apartments they have in the center of town. Thank you very much for the experience, 200% recommend. Greetings!!!! We didn't have any news until two days later when they told us that at that time there were no more places available. We chose two options, the one that was free, on different days and times. We had to wait three or four days until they responded to us again that there were no more places. When we called to clarify the situation, the girl who assists us tells us that the route we want is not being done yet. So why did they tell us there were times available? As he tells me, "the classmate would be giving you schedules for another similar activity"... In general, quite bad organization and terrible customer service. They live off reserves and they don't make it easy...

Excellent excellent with Carlos as a guide who knows everything about the plants, he has very good eyes to see the mountain goats - small groups of females with babies, another small group of males, even estimating the ages of the last ones by their horns - the birds and everything. We also learned a lot about the history of the park and the region, for example how in the past families went out to the fields to dry grapes on walkers - the ones that can still be seen. We walked at the pace that suited us, without impatience, and we felt very safe and well cared for - also on the 4x4 vehicle climb through forests and well-inclined roads. Lots of extra service without charge - among them Carlos took photos throughout the walk and gave them to us afterwards. Our best day in Cómpeta.

Beautiful 500 year old church. Very impressive building with tall tower. Worth also visiting inside for the beautiful altars and artwork. 🙏🙏
A beautiful place, only issue I had is the smell from the trash bins nearby was problematic while admiring the structure.
Quite place 🤠 great place to chill
(Translated by Google) When walking through Competa, you will end up in Plaza Almijara where you will find this church, considered The Cathedral of Axarquia. Built in the 16th century in the central square of the town, its beauty lies in the 35-meter-high neo-Mudejar style tower that replaced the old minaret, destroyed in 1884. The highlight of the visit is admiring the fresco of Our Lady of the Assumption and the Baptism of Jesus, masterpieces by the henban painter Francisco Hernández, but unfortunately on Sunday when we arrived the church was closed but... we took advantage of the Paseo de las Tradiciones (which is right next to the right wall) and its beautiful mosaics that tell images of this unique town and ends in a sculpture dedicated to the Fandangos so popular in this area.

The view is gorgeous, it will take a bit of time to go there if you parked in the town but it is worth it. I loved it
Great stop through mountains
Amazing view over Compesta. Drive down the road then take the sharp right turn at the wee roundabout for another cracking viewpoint over the town.
Great views of the village from here , can even see the sea on a clear day.
stunning view for a very unique white village
This is a small, but pleasant, tiled area at the top of the village. The view over the town is beautiful & you also can look out east into the hills around Maroma.
Super place to pull over and take in those stunning views.

A super place to hire bikes for exploring the routes around Málaga! We rented a couple of speedy road bikes for a few days, and Steve kindly dropped them off and collected them from the town where we were staying (just north of Málaga). The bikes were in excellent condition and set up really well, and communication was great throughout, with some really helpful route recommendations. I would 100% recommend if you are looking for quality bikes for your cycling holiday!
Cyclemalaga provide a fantastic bike rental service. The Giant TCR Di2 that I hired was in great condition and Steve even made a few adjustments to Suite my riding style. The fact they deliver the bike to where you are staying is a huge advantage. Steve's local knowledge was sound, to the point he suggested I rode a route in reverse that I had planned in London, glad I listened to him. Communication throughout our interaction was spot on. Highly recommend this team, Steve and Helen run a great service. Thanks guys.
Fantastic one day cycling experience thanks to cyclemalaga.com. Well-conditioned canyon road bike flied in a mountain. The shop is located in the centre Malaga but just 3-4 km from 1,000m elevation gain mountain. Quite convenient. They provided me a great support for routing my ride. Thanks million and I definitely need to come back here with more time!🚴‍♀️
Hired three e-bikes for 24 hours to get around Malaga. Hellen was very helpful and flexible with the returning policy. Great experience with the bikes! Went all the way to plaza Mayor (shopping center) Visited Pedregalejo (Pez Tomillo recommend for lunch/diner!!) and walked over the boulevard. Also used the bike to cycle uphill (much better than to climb in the heat!) to the castle.
We rented bikes for 3 days and it was the best choice we made. The service was great and the staff gave us helpful tips and set out a route. Exploring Málaga by bike was fun, safe, and easy thanks to the many cycling lanes. We got to see much more of the city, including less touristy areas and the beautiful coastline. Highly recommended to rent your bikes here!
If you need to hire a bike in the Malaga area, look no further than Cycle Malaga. Steve and Helen are exceptional at customer care, providing great service and top speck bikes. They know the area well, gave super recommendations on routes and were tentative to our needs and requests. You cannot fault them. Thank you so much for an awesome cycling experience!
Cycle Malaga and Helen were amazing, their bikes are all brand new and well maintained! Originally, I was only going to stay in Malaga for 3 days and then I decided to stay 7 and hiring a bike for the whole time was perfect to have some wheels to travel in and around Malaga during my stay. In all the places I’ve travelled in Spain, they usually have bike tracks in the cities/towns and even in some areas bike trails to explore their beautiful beaches and countryside. Initially, I was going to hire a standard city bike, but when I ask Helen to make the comparison, it really wasn’t that much more for an e-bike. And having an e-bike allowed me to go further to more out of the way beaches and climb up into the countryside with ease. One day I reached 900m above sea level and the view was spectacular! And the ride down to beach was fun and exhilarating! Plus with regulating the battery use I had battery power for the ride back to Malaga, I set the bike to 5 and was back to my apartment in no time. With my 7 day e-bike hire, Cycle Malaga supplied me with a puncher kit and pump, along with a lock and helmet, and of course the changing cable for the battery which I easily charged the bike overnight ready for the next day. They even have a mobile phone holder on the handle bars so you can use Goggle maps with ease. I would highly recommend Helen and her partner to give your holiday in Malaga wheels! They also have another store in Nerja, perhaps if I make my way back one day I might hire a racing bike with Cycle Malaga. Thanks for the great memories!
Fantastic experience 🙂We thoroughly enjoyed using the electric bicycles, covering more than 50 kilometers daily. The bikes were dependable and the customer service at the bike rental shop was excellent. We plan to return for sure.
