Ever wonder where one of the most famous names in bubbly got his start? For anyone who loves the finer things in life, a visit to this church is a must. This charming, understated church is the final resting place of a true legend: Dom Pierre Pérignon. He was a monk and a genius who helped shape Champagne as we know it today. While he didn't invent the bubbles, he was a master blender who perfected the wine and pioneered the use of corks to keep those bubbles locked in. He passed away on September 24, 1715, and was buried right here. Visiting is a fun, respectful way to thank the man behind the magic of a good bottle of bubbly. The church is well-kept, and while it's free to enter, a donation is a great way to show your appreciation for this historical gem.
Beautiful place. Easy access. Simple place, open to the public access. We spent whole afternoon and visited near by vinyards.

Great champagne for a very reasonable price. The view is amazing. Definitely worth a visit! It was our third time already, because we love their champagne so much. Dorian was our host this time and he was great.
Absolutely, the views are lovely. The staff were nice and the champagne tasting good. I didn't find the experience as personal as the other champagne houses we visited. Regardless, it was nice to sip champagne overlooking the vineyards. They do have parking spots on site.
Such a beautiful place for a tasting. The tasting room over looks a vineyard and makes for nice pictures to capture the moment. They welcome you to come in for a tasting and make it easy. Choice of 3 champagnes for 15 euros. If you buy 6 or more bottles the tasting is free. They will ship worldwide too.
Very good and affordable Champagne. Tasting charge: €5 per tasting sample
What a beautiful place to experience the wonders of Champagne country! Welcoming atmosphere with a very simple rules on tasting, purchasing and incredible tasting champagne. Prices are fair, service was impeccable and they are open regular times... I would not hesitate to go back the next time I am in the area.
Great place for wine tasting with a beautiful view on the wineyards and city of Epernay!
Had a very nice champagne tasting here. The host was very friendly and nice. She sat down with us and gave us great explanations. Despite being young, she was very knowledgeable and passionate and it was a joy to have her company. The wines themselves were very good and while sitting in the tasting room you have a beautiful view over the valley, even better than the views you will get at the royal champagne hotel. The only addition I personally would have liked would be some small food/snacks to pair with the wines, but I also did not ask for this.
Visited in 2019 on a quick champagne tasting overnight from Brussels with my sister and mother in law. We visited 2 champagne houses and 1 tasting room and all 3 of us found our favorite of the get away here at G. Tribaut. Picturesque view of the fields, beautiful facility, we were served by one of the owners (3rd generation family run business) and chatted easily. If you are in the Champagne region and looking to do some tasting…stop looking…go here. Plan to stay a bit to order a glass or bottle of your favorite after your tasting and leave room in your luggage to take at least a bottle or two home. Bonus, they will ship to the US (1/2 case minimum). My husband surprised his mother and I with 2 & 4 bottles for Christmas 2021.

Great place to discover Champagne Au36 is a perfect spot to explore different types of Champagne and really understand how it’s made. For €44, you get a tasting menu with six champagnes and some delicious food. Across the street, there’s a shop from the same house where you can buy your favorite bottle to take home. Highly recommended to taste first, then buy.
Lovely place, particularly if you want to do Champagne tastings they have an amazing selection. The food was lovely, we opted for the small variety plates canard delicacies and champagne delicacies. Great way to sample taste of the local treats 🤍 We came with our kids, unfortunately nothing in the menu for them so we had to leave earlier to get something for them.
The café in the main square was full, so they recommended this restaurant. We were seated on the outside terrace and the staff were very nice. The cheese platter could have a bit more types of cheese, as it is quite monotonous. The ratatouille was very tasty. We also tried two champagnes.
2025 visit: another nice visit with quality food and friendly service. Sitting in the garden courtyard out the back was wonderful. Earlier visits: We enjoyed lunch here. Tasty food and the champagne tasting was also nice, though we felt quite expensive compared to other offers in the village.
Great place to taste a few champagnes. If you like them you can buy them at the shop literally across the street.
What a beautiful spot. We were biking and decided to stop for lunch. We sampled some Champagne and had a bit of food to go along with it. The spot is cozy and the staff are very friendly. Based on my experience I would recommend this place for food and drinks.
Really lovely place, good food. The cheese plate would be better if it was offered with some crackers and more of a range of cheese. The savory food platter was incredible, would recommend. We sat outside and it was lovely! The only thing I would say is that we were in a larger group and we had to split over 2 tables. Though there wasn't enough to fill 2 tables, so felt a bit strange. We asked if we could move over a few times but it seems to be a rule?? Anyway, the rest of it was lovely and I would recommend!
If you want to taste Don Pérignon per glass this the place to go to! Very friendly English speaking staff. The food menu is somewhat limited but they have something for everybody’s liking. I would advise to place a reservation before visiting, since it looks like this place is always crowded! They also offer multiple tastings, ranging from 2 glasses to 6. Or you can just order Champagne per glass. Amazing place, definitely would recommend Au36 ❤️!

Fantastic tasting, really knowledgeable and pleasant service! 100% recommend, really reasonably priced too!
Good champagne and for a fair price. If you don't speak french don't worry, most of the people working there speak English perfectly. The degustation costs 15 euros but since I bought some products after, they were so kind to offer it to me and even to my girlfriend who did not buy anything, well appreciated.
Looks nice, but seems to be a very commercial company. At the local L’Eclerc supermarket the bottles are 6 euro cheaper than direct at the house.
A nice location to enjoy a tasting. The video playing showing production is interesting. Here we did not experience the same level of friendly, informative service as we did at other champagne houses. Rather we were given the information sheet and left to our own devices.
Magnificent service and great champagne!
TOURIST TRAP Honestly one of the worst experiences in the champagne region, which we visit once or twice a year for a long time. First of all, not a single note on the champagnes offered besides a folder that we had to take ourselves Secondly the first champagne offered was flat out dead, not a single bubble alive. Thirdly, when we (to our taste) didn’t like the second champagne (which can happen) we decided to cut our degustation short with only 2/3 coupes and we’re charged for the price of 4 single coupes rather than 2 tastings (a slight difference of €2, but it shows where the priorities lie) Will not come back nor recommend.
Fantastic tasting and excellent staff!
The tasting is well run and is offered free if you buy three bottles. Note you dont get to choose the wines you taste nor is there a view to enjoy.

Through Aÿ-Champagne Experience private tour, we came upon this cellar, situated in a charming village called "Hautvillers" in Epernay. This is a small multi-generation family owned production champagne house. It was so interesting to see how they still use traditional method of pressing grapes. Tasty organic champagne for roughly 30 euros which is well worth every penny. Highly recommend it!
A new favorite of ours! Very special champagne and the owner (sorry, didn't catch your name) was lovely. It's quite a small champagne house, which makes it all the better in our opinion. Very charming, affordable and nice. If the door is closed, don't hesitate to call them. We did and they were there in 5 minutes. Very glad we went!
We had a private tour of the Winery provided by Sabine part of the Desruets family. Very nice and personal tour and experience, seeing the original Wine Press still in use and learning all about the process of making Champagne. The tasting was great with the Cuvee Nature (zero sugar) being a very special one and the Cuvee Coeur de Pinot being a very full and tasty favorite. Great experience overall!
We went a couple years ago for our honeymoon. Very knowledgeable tour with excellent champagne at a reasonable cost. We just opened one of the bottles we bought and it was amazing. I wish we bought even more champagne from this winery. Highly recommend!
We tried a lot of champagnes, but we think that JD serves the most special one (Soleil de Mai). We keep coming back every year to buy some bottles and enjoy this beautiful champagne and to celebrate special occasions.
Excellent tasting from a small family producer. Very welcoming, informative and most importantly excellent Champagne, (some with zero dosage)! The old wine press is cool to see, the oldest in the region still in use. We were fortunate that the office de tourisme in Hautvillers was able to call for us and book a tasting at short notice. Highly recommend!
Thank you for the wonderful vineyard lunch. It was magnifique!🍇🍾🥂🥖🧀
Very lovely and welcoming champagne-Family in 6th generation. Showing everything around and explaining everything in detail. Loved the Champagne! The nature typ is special and unique für very good value for money! Recommend going here!

I’ll admit, I was not a huge fan of champagne before my tour of Fernand Lemaire. However, after the tour, presented by the 4th generation owner I might add, my interest and overall appreciation for champagne was absolutely peaked! Frédéric and his wife Christine demonstrated their knowledge and passion for producing a quality champagne through a sustainable process. The samples were sooo tasty! I ordered more bottles than I care to divulge! I highly recommend a visit to this family-run champagne maker during your trip to Hautvillers!
Benoit is the most amazing host. We had a really informative fun and interesting tour of the cellars and learning all about the champagne making process and then tasting the beautiful result. The vineyard is stunning and set in peaceful French countryside with fascinating village history. Benoit produces a crisp clear champagne of premium quality and I cannot wait to try it at home! From my sister and I thank you so very much Benoit for making our trip so special. I would not hesitate to recommend and support small champagne family producers. A true delight.
What a delight ! Really enjoyed speaking with Benoit. Passionate about his product and his family heritage. We were able to make space in the car to bring home a couple of cases…looking forwards to enjoying some Champagne back in the UK.
Champagne is excellent! The girl who was arranging the tasting was sweet and knowledgeable. She was even so kind to give a tour of the grape press and winery as it was harvest season. A very unique and special experience. I would highly recommend to visit Fernand Lemaire for their excellent champagne in Hautvillers.
Visited this family owner Champagne house as part of our Champagne tour. The owner himself did the tour for us, he explained the whole process of making champagne and we had the chance the see his cellar. He was very engaged and super friendly. The tasting afterwards was great too, we tried two Brut and one Rose, can definitely recommend it.
Really amazing family owned champagne house, we had a great time drinking and learning about how they process their champagne from start to finish. The quality of their champagne was amazing and we couldn't help but pick up some bottles :) Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area.
We went to Champagne from Paris on a self-guided day trip. After we visited the Ave de Champagne in Epernay, we took a taxi to Hautvillers to see the vineyards. As we were walking around, we stopped by the house of Champagne Fernand Lemarie, which was a small quaint house with huge hospitality and genuine love and passion for their work! When we popped in, we had a 3-glass tasting which was very affordable (6 euros for 3 samples, if I recall correctly). The champagne was delicious! What made the experience even more amazing was the warm hospitality of the son (this is a 4th generation family business). We visited (unknowingly) on the last day of harvest and were invited to see the champagne making process which was very special! I purchased a bottle of champagne to take back to friends to share the story of this family, their craft, and their enthusiasm for welcoming us into their world. Merci!
Great tasting hosted by 4th generation producer, Benoit Lemaire. Fascinating introduction to the craft, traditional methods combined with modern techniques, and 3 very quaffable champagnes at reasonable prices. A very personal experience in a lovely location, with parking on site - highly recommended.

Great winery with delicious Champagne and a welcoming owner. Highly recommended to visit when exploring Hautvillers!
What's not to like. Lovely casual atmosphere 👌 Good host👍 and the Champagne 🍾 wasn't half bad either xxx
We were walking around in Hautvillers and saw this champagne house open. We walked in and got a very warm welcome. We could try a glass of champagne for only 3,-!! The owner invite us for the small tour which was already planned. He told us a lot about the terroir and the way of growing the grapes. The production of champagne and specifics. It was lovely! Thanks again for making our walk much nicer!
The Rose was disappointing, quite flat tasting. Apart from that, the other champagnes were great! Did not book, just turned up for a tasting and they were helpful even though they had another tour group to attend to. The tastings were also free!
We had a great visit. Very friendly and very good champagne for a more than reasonable price. Would definitely recommend.
Bought our wedding champagne from here, great quality and great price.
Very good champagne, worth a stop when you're in the champagne region!

The intimate setting and warm hospitality made the experience even more memorable. It was a delightful surprise and a highlight of our Champagne journey—we can’t recommend them enough!
Yet another personal champagne tasting. We loved hearing the story of this house and how the daughter has taken over fort operations to continue for generations to come. They also own the adjacent restaurant, reservations are recommended.
Wonderful champagne tasting in a beautiful setting. The staff were lovely too, the woman serving us recommended the trio of champagne which was excellent. Highly recommended.
Cute, intimate setting. Friendly service and great wine flights. A must visit.
Small Champagne maker, women owned business. Their base-line Champagne is very good and affordable at €27,50 All their Champagnes are well-aged, giving them a round more complex taste.
Wonderful tasting with the host in a semi-private seating in the little town outside of Eperney. Wines were great and the rose backstory was interesting.

The absolute best place to taste Champagne in the region! The extra brut is a blast for all the real dry Champagne lover! And the family is extra nice.
Champagne was not our favourite, but that is not something I would write a bad review for, taste varies. The seller did not provide much info about their wines, we had to listen to her (angry) opinions on the current french politics during our 40 minute degustation. Would not recommend.
A friendly place to sample 4 different champagnes (good and reasonably priced). The tasting is free with a purchase of several bottles
Absolutely Lovely welcome, we really enjoyed the tasting - lovely people, great Champagne and really decent value 😁 another one to visit again!

(Translated by Google) Visited for the first time in September 2011. We wanted to taste good champagne from a small house instead of the well-known, but not better, larger châteaus. After walking around a bit and trying to get in somewhere (it was 12 noon), we saw a gate open. We got a little closer, and a man spoke to us. It turned out to be the owner, Jérôme Vanneycken. With great enthusiasm he told us about his company and how the champagne was created. After more than an hour of explanation and answering questions, we bought some bottles of champagne. We came back a few times later to buy champagne. A very nice champagne!
