My partner and I had so much fun! This was the highlight of our four-day trip to Ireland. We did the tour with Drew wearing costumes and then went outside with Jeff to practice archery. Can't wait to go back next time we visit! 100% recommend!
Great craic dressing up in medieval gear. The British lad telling the story was a little too proud of their wins — skipped over a few Irish victories, and insisted they were “invited” by Dermot, so technically didn’t invade Ireland… lucky for him there were no locals in the audience to challenge that one. Cheerfully explained the two heads on the city stamp were a warning to the Finians not to make a peep — possibly the main reason my son (born in Ireland, learning Irish since Naíonra 10 years ago) suddenly said he felt sick and had to leave. Or maybe it was the 28°C heat combined with wearing armour minutes earlier. There’s also a small maze, a very cute garden dotted with poetry, and a spot of fun archery — 12 shots each, plus a bonus balloon round to finish.
We went here to visit Santa. It was truly such an enjoyable experience. It was a winter wonderland and both my children (age 10years and 18months) had a ball. The staff were fabulous and the Santa was lovely. Look forward to visiting here again.
Excellent attraction. Tour guides informed, entertaining and engaging. Really informative. We did the archery snd dress up. We spent over an hour, we could have spent longer but under time pressure. Highly recommend. Of our 3 days in Galway, definitely a highlight. Tourguide is a creative genius as well as a history expert, she made most of the costumes
We had a wonderful time at the Heritage Center in Athenry!! The staff is very friendly and patient, it’s a great place for families with kids. Beautiful costumes and interesting history. We enjoyed the Archery very much. It’s worth every euro and more.
Loved this place. Stumbled into the Heritage Centre to escape the rain, so it wasn't a planned visit. Really pleased we did. The guide was so knowledgeable and charismatic. Then we got to have a go in costume, (which really isn't my thing), but did it, and it was a laugh. Recommend this to anyone bimbling around Athenry.
My family had such a wonderful experience here. The staff were super friendly and informative. The dressing up was so much fun, and the tour was very informative and patient as we needed to translate from English for our youngest to understand. We also had an archery "contest". In general, the kids and parents were thrilled. The whole experience is about 1.5 hours. Parking is by meter (only coins!) in the town square next to the heritage center. We didn't plan to go to the castle as well, but the admission was free, so we hoped in to have a look.
Best ever history time travel experience in original location with ancient and replicate items, costumes , weapons, torture equipment, introduction to culture and historical important events. Thanks to the 2 very knowledgeable ladies and their patience to answer all questions!!!

Beautiful restored ruins of a classic tower house with surrounding wall and yard. In the middle of Athenry, parking is very limited on busy days, but staff are super helpful and kind. Amazing piece of history, well worth the visit.
Quick stop on our drive from Galway to Dublin. Dee gave us great information about the castle. We could tell she was very passionate and knowledgeable.
Worth a visit, not just for fans of the medieval times. When we went, there was a medieval festival going on for the day, and the kids had the best time. There even wasn’t any entrance fee for museum and castle that day.
One of my favourite Irish castles. The tower house is the highlight of the visit. It has been beautifully restored, complete with a recreated medieval hall that helps visitors imagine what life might have been like centuries ago. The surrounding area, with its medieval walls and quaint streets, adds to the atmosphere and makes for a lovely walk after your castle visit. It’s not a massive site, so you can easily explore it in about an hour, but it’s definitely worth the stop, especially if you’re already in Galway or heading towards Connemara.
This is a great little castle we got there just in time for the guide which was full of great information.
Its fine, but it is extremely underwhelming for a "castle". Choose a more impressive one if you can - or just go across the road to the church.
Really enjoyed our visit to Athenry Castle It was a fine day to visit and Sandy and Dee we’re the most helpful docents. Dee explained the entire history of the castle and the ladies supplied me with information on how to look up my family tree. Highly recommended
Very great experience. Adrian gave us a very good talk about the castle's history, which we enjoyed very much. When we visited there weren't a lot of people which is sad because it was an extraordinary experience

Charming and warm, lovely patrons and staff, with a side of craic! A pint with the gentleman in McGinnty's chair will make your day!
Lovely pub with very modern outdoor area. Great atmosphere and music. 🙂
Cracking spot, bar staff were super, very attentive. Guinness is fantastic. The beer garden is unreal. Definitely worth stopping in for a few beers. It's like a big city pub in a small town.
Great atmosphere and service is top notch. Pool table outside and Music inside provides a favourable mix for everyone. Clean toilets and comfortable seating 💯
Great pint. Very nice staff. Good atmosphere. Lots of sports, music and has a pool table.
Very rude owner, stay away from this dive.

The whole process is stress free and enjoyable. We've booked a turkey for both Thanksgiving and Christmas every year for the last few years and have found them all to be beautifully presented and delicious. It makes these dinners with family a much more enjoyable time, and the crew in the Friendly Farmer are always welcoming and more than helpful. We'll be Continuing our tradition for many years to come, and will be recommending to all that will listen. Thanks again. 😊
I put a lot of faith into the online reviews and decided to buy the Christmas dinner meats on-line - a 1st for me. Collection was really easy and a bit of craic ,taking to everyone and the friendly farmer himself. It’s a family set up with all hands on deck I’d say when it’s busy. We got boned and rolled turkey which was brilliant quality. Could not fault it For our family it’s all about the ham - get that wrong and you never hear the end of it….we are a fussy bunch. The ham was amazing, no other word for it. Just the right amount of salty, it sliced well and was excellent in the all important ham sandwiches in the evening. Will use again
This is my 6th year in a row getting a turkey for Christmas and there is no going back! Absolute amazing product that’s incomparable to almost all other poultry products. Keep up the great work team and see you next year again!
We had the bronze turkey and the ham from The Friendly Farmer this year. It was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone as the quality was superb...best we have ever tasted... Ordering and collection process very easy and straight forward Cant wait for 2025!!! Pat and Cathriona
Friendly Farmer turkey was the star of the Christmas dinner party. Thank you. Cooked beautifully. Meat incredibly tender, juicy, & flavourful, requiring minimal seasoning. Ethical rearing added an extra layer of satisfaction. Over the following days, leftovers retained their moisture & deliciousness. 9kg bronze served ten guests. Thank you, Ronan. Wising you & the family a happy & healthy Christmas & 2025!
We always get our turkey and ham from the Friendly FARMER, it never disappoints. The turkey is succulent, delicious, without fail. Christmas would not be the same without it. I hope to also get an Easter turkey if available.
Our Christmas goose from friendly farmer never fails to please. I’ve cooked goose for Christmas for 28 years. Without friendly farmer I wouldn’t be able to continue this tradition as I no longer have locally sourced fowl. I’ve also begun using their bronze turkey and wouldn’t use any other now. It tastes amazing easy to cook and so makes for hassle free entertaining
A big thankyou to Ronan and team for another fantastic turkey & ham it was truly great and enjoyed by all the family. This was our 3rd year of ordering and will be back again next Christmas. A very Happy New Year to you all.

Good Experience today I went really Nice service and nice place to drink. Thank you
Excellent night with our staff. Debbie, Lisa, DJ and Johnny are top class and live music was great. Thanks. The Earl Inn team.
Very friendly and efficient staff. Very clean pub with great atmosphere
Drink the pint ta fuk.... Great pint of Guinness, barman is so sound even if he's from Mullingar lol
I go in here for the odd pint because the pint be it Guinness, or Carlsberg, is always top quality. The proprietor is a genuine lovely guy who appreciates all customers and tourists alike. The girls who work there are so professional and extremely nice to all the customers. This is a 10 out 10 pub, so when in Athenry exploring, this is the place to test out local hospitality, and top quality beer.
Great fun, lovely pints. Depending on the night you can kick back and relax or get up and dance (actually you can do that any night.... But you might get strange looks 🤣🤣🤣). Lovely pub, sound folk.
Hadn't been there in a while yet Tuesday night had great atmosphere with soccer on TV etc. And Guinness was good too.

Beautiful gift shop in the heart of Athenry, very well stocked, excellent personal service from the Melia family. Always ready to help you choice "the prefect gift" and gift wrap it too! Online service and collection. A Gem of a shop in Athenry and well worth a visit.
The owner was very helpful for things in the area and had a ton of stuff to look at and bring back for family in the states. After buying, we stayed about 30 minutes to talk about Athenry history and Ireland in general.
I love this shop. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Definitely worth a visit when you get to Athenry.
Nice wee gift shop. The place to go if you are in the market for a commemorative magnet or other such trinkets. Staff very friendly.

Amazing owner and shop! Knows about every single item and is so reasonably priced! Inquired about everything and he was more than happy to take the time to explain! Stayed for 2 hours - could’ve stayed longer even. Best antique shop i’ve been!
We stopped in yesterday with our 11 year old son who wants to begin collecting coins. He had the very best time and learned so much. She was so knowledgeable and helpful extremely patient with him. We cannot wait to visit on another holiday!
I could spend hours in this shop. Stunning victorian furniture, really special jewellery, beautiful glassware and lots of curios things. And the owner is always happy to have a chat about the pieces and their story.
The owner, David, is an extremely approachable and pleasant guy. He gave me a fair price for a number of items and sourced an excellent gold ring for my wife. Well worth a visit.
Shop owner is loverly and very helpful, lots of cool antiques and very nice dog in store. Highly recommend
