Amazing history and culture experience, absolutely beautiful place. Isabel Domecq and her staff are absolutely awesome! Made us feel welcomed. I would recommend this Spanish cultural experience to anyone.
I rather enjoyed our time here. You get to see some horse dressage (similar to the start of the show at the royal riding school show in Jerez, but I thought it was done better here. Clearly he had done his time at the school). The cattle, both the bulls and the oxen were of moderate interest. The best part of was the tour of the small museum where Isabella shared some of the details of bulls and bull fighting, along with her clear pride of her family’s heritage.
Truly a remarkable experience. Everyone should go.
Very nice place and very nice people there
Very interesting show and beautiful horse dressage’s. They explained it in all types of languages. I would of liked to see the biggest bull, but they probably weren’t available.
We enjoyed the kind hospitality offered by A Campo Abierto staff throughout the duration of our visit to the ranch. We were greeted by Patricia, a member of the Donec family who was extremely helpful and informative throughout the visit. Patricia provided a comprehensive commentary in fluent English and addressed our questions in full. An arena was used to demonstrate dressage skills followed by viewings of cows, calves and four year old fighting bulls. We learnt so much about the people, livestock and the natural environment. Being from a farming background we appreciated the stockmanship and care necessary to breed the cattle and horses. The demonstrations and visit to the museum enhanced our understanding of the role of bullfighting within Andalusian culture. The visit has inspired us to further explore Andalusian culture during our next visit to Spain. We thoroughly enjoyed this spectacular visit which concluded with a welcome sampling of A Campo Abierto sherry. Thanks to all the staff at the ranch, but especially to Patricia who is a very competent, knowledgeable tour guide and affable host. John & Roberta.
A fantastic, friendly working Bull and horse ranch that how and explains the breeding process of the bulls and horses, thy then show how the animals are brought in from wild and herded into the arena with great skill and care, you can then meet the riders and horses
So fantastic, try to not miss discovering it

Well worth a visit. Friendly guy on tickets. Beatiful 16th century golden altarpiece. Check out devil face leering down over baptismal font. Some Latin-inscribed Roman stones were incorporated into the back doors looking over castle. Includes going up tower for spectacular views as far as Atlantic coast. Watch out for pigeons up there, clanging bells and high winds! Sensory experience!
A must visit when in Medina Sidonia. Really impressive, especially the altarpiece. Skip the 10€ for Cadiz cathedral and pay the 2.50 for this instead!
This would be a place you stop by for half a day or maybe just a few hours. I would recommend this place as a passing kind of stop. It's small and it has a few historic sites. The church is really beautiful, make sure you check the times for going inside.
We really liked visiting this church, it was beautiful, in a rugged way. Both the outside (I found it pretty unique and original, specially the façade) and the inside are worth visiting, and the view from the top is pretty. For 2.5€ it is a reasonable way to learn the importance this building and Medina Sidonia had, due to the fact that it was easier to defend than the coast.
€2.50 cash entrance fee. Any church that is charging for access, is not much of a church anymore
(Translated by Google) 16th-century Gothic church. A beautiful church in a poor state of preservation, although one of the most beautiful I've ever visited. The altarpiece and the organ are the most notable due to their enormous amount of detail and size. Many of the church's paintings and engravings are also worth mentioning. It also has an old cloister area that can be visited. The Virgin is an element I'd like to highlight because, while I'm not a big fan of images of the Virgin, the one we find in this church is beautiful, and her facial expression strikingly depicts the pain of the scene.
(Translated by Google) WARNING: Access to the bell tower, included in the €2.50 price, is closed due to exterior work on one side of the tower! But the cashier conveniently neglected to warn us before we paid, as that was the reason we wanted to visit! When I pointed this out to her as we were leaving, she replied mockingly and dismissively that the work was visible from the outside!!! I told her that just because there was scaffolding on one side didn't necessarily mean the interior access was closed and that she should have informed us!! I find this dishonest, especially in a church 🥴🤔. In fact, you're just paying to see an altarpiece!!! AT LEAST YOU WILL BE WARNED!! PLUS, INSTEAD OF APOLOGIZING, SHE'S TREATING US RUDELY!
(Translated by Google) Medina's main church. It's located at the highest point of the town, near the castle. You have to be willing to climb up there, but it's worth it. It has a small cloister through which you enter the church. It has three naves. The choir stalls aren't striking, as they have paintings instead of carved seats, as in other churches. The altarpiece stands out, although it's not as well preserved as it should be to look spectacular. Despite all this, it's a must-see if you travel to Medina.

Amazing Panoramic view of Medina and the places nearby. The place needs around 1 hour max to see. Just go to enjoy the view. Learn the history of the castle which goes back to the Roman period,Moors etc.
Starting on the bronze age, built by romans, christians and muslims… worth a visit!
Medina Sidonia is a beautiful small very old historic town, the castle and the cathedral are wonderful
Even on a sunny day in December, this was very busy, mainly visiting school parties. Spectacular views from the castle at the top. A must for a clear day!
Pretty place, lovely square for people watching and coffee. There appeared to be a castle on top of the hill which would be worth a visit but unfortunately we did not have time. There was a description placard on the wall of a cafe but the English translation made it difficult to appreciate - why don't local authorities get their translations proof read by a mother tongue English speaker before they go to the expense of printing and sign manufacture? I wonder if the German translation was as bad. 10 year old Google translate is not good enough. Still small, traditional hill top town well worth a visit.
About castle restaurant: Delicious food and very nice and helpful staff. Big portions and average prices. Vegan options limited to rice with vegetables and vegetable salad. This meal was awesome!! Chicken with rice also fully recommended.
Quite interesting to see the ruins of the old castle. There's a 2€ fee to enter. Check opening times on the website. The views walking up are stunning

It has a source that is characterized by having a higher salt content than normal and that is why since ancient times it was not recommended for people to drink. The door has charm. It is one of the most characteristic and beautiful things in the town. A little further on you have Plaza España and on the way we recommend stopping at the confectionery. Tremendous. Beautiful square in a beautiful town. Great place to get away from crowds and just take in the Andalusian atmosphere.
Located in the heart of Medina-Sidonia's charming old town, Plaza de España is a picturesque square adorned with the town hall and a vibrant array of restaurants and cafés. (Translated by Google) Jesus, Mary and Joseph Convent Known as Convento de las Descalzas or “nuns from Above”, founded in 1867, it is a circular temple that welcomed the famous “Simi the Hebrew”, a Jewish convert who arrived from Gibraltar to serve the Christian God. On October 14, 1687, Mother Antonia de Jesús and her companions from the order of the Augustinian Recollect nuns took possession of the Convent. From that same date, work began on the current monastery, on an island of 12 houses, which included the Basilica and the Misericordia Hospital, as well as the hermitage of Our Lady of Consolation. The new foundation was possible thanks to Captain Don Diego de Iparraguirre; Basque Captain of the order of Santiago, a rich merchant from the Americas who settled in Cádiz. The first stone of the convent was laid on May 31, 1688. The works were directed by the Medina architecture teacher Juan Bautista de la Rica. The octagonal church forms two rectangular spaces. The altarpiece in the main chapel is the work of the artists Juan Batista Severiano and Francisco Bartolomé from the 17th century. It is divided into two large horizontal bodies and three vertical streets, formed by Solomonic columns. It is worth highlighting the decoration of the dome, elliptical in shape, supported by eight pendentives. The dome is decorated by the representation of the “Coronation of Our Lady” painted in oil; The rest of the decoration is made up of frescoes from the 18th century.

The lady speaks English and Spanish, we got some good info on local poi, very friendly.
Very helpfull! Nice guy explaining the history of the city, which route to go & what to must see!
Town map with some English given to us. Also extra information about hours and entry prices given. Unfortunately as is true in all of Spain we could not visit everything before the 'statutory' shutdown at 2pm occured. Come on Spain join the real world of tourism....by 5pm your visitors are heading home!
(Translated by Google) Located in the center, inside the food plaza. A perfect place to plan your visit to the town. A very friendly girl helped me and explained to me what I could visit and the hours. Nowadays, with the Internet, almost no one visits the tourist offices before taking a route, but if you have time I recommend it, because even if we are guided by our cell phone, they always tell us details that are very interesting.

(Translated by Google) While waiting for it to open, we sat down right on the terrace of the bar across the street, and they charged us over €8 for a piece of toast and two coffees. It's an abusive and illegal practice to have prices for both foreigners and locals (confirmed by Medina residents). They do a disservice to the work you do to promote your town. Does the town hall carry out any inspections in this regard? Honestly, it's a disgrace. I hope this review helps someone and helps them avoid the current "tourist tax."
