Fantastic visit - guards serve as guide and are super friendly and interesting! Impressive place and excursion - highly recommended
Magnificent! The colosseum of the lighthouses. Unique in its location, architecture and beauty. 300 steps to do at your own pace.
Amazing experience, scary journey to get there. Staff excellent. Highlight of my trip.
Beautiful restoration, unexpected architecture, nice sailing and special thanks to the office lady who called me to make sure I would make it on time and waited for me with the ticket to make sure I could board even though I was a few minutes late. Very much appreciated! All in all I am super happy I could make it!
Amazing moment! You take a boat trip to the sea then a boat-truck ride to the lighthouse. The boat floats then rides the bottom of the ocean. Depending of the tides, you may have to walk 10 minutes on the sand/bottom of the ocean at some point to reach the boat-truck, that was a unique experience! The lighthouse is beautiful, the last one inhabited in the world. The wardens are also giides, friendly and funny. A MUST DO!
Beautiful building that is so much more than your everyday lighthouse where you can only climb the steps and nothing more. Accessible only at low tide, getting here is quite the adventure. The rocks around the lighthouse are a good place to go looking for mussels, oysters, anemones and crabs, and the road that become accessible makes it seem as you though could walk all the way back to shore. The only thing that is less nice is that, once you are done and just want to go home, the boat ride back seems to take an eternity.
Absolutely stunning! The most amazing lighthouse I've ever seen. Right out in the ocean and takes a while to get there by boat. The interior is beautiful and includes a chapel and king's room complete with fireplaces. The view from the top - the ocean in all directions is stunning. Not to be missed!
Amazing visit, the photos do not do it justice. Well worth making the effort to come here either on a trip or by boat

An efficient way to cross the mouth of the Gironde. You really get a sense of the power of the water, tides and weather as these boats struggle to make headway at times as they cross. The captains and teams really do an amazing job.
e Verdon-sur-Mer to Royan Ferry Crossing Very much enjoyed our crossing - we travelled on a Friday at the very beginning of June and we were able to get on a ferry with no problem although I think the ferry was full on departure. You cannot book in advance. We caught the 13.45 ferry crossing between Le Verdon-sur-Mer to Royan. They say you should arrive 30 minutes before departure - it seems this is when the booths open. We noticed cars beginning to queue so we joined the queue just after 13.00. The boarding process was quick and well managed. You pay at the kiosk on arrival it was €5 each for adult passenger and €37 for the car which I though was a bit expensive, but it does save driving via Bordeaux. They certainly pack the cars in very tightly and there is very little room to get out of the car. They also unload very fast (we were still up on the deck when the ramp went down and our car was at the front! The crossing took about 25 minutes, the weather was good so we sat on the open deck to enjoy the views. The river is pretty wide at this point but you get some great views as you arrive into Royan.
Absolute DISASTER in summer - especially on Saturdays. No information about waiting times – you just end up standing in a car queue for three hours. The staff causes even more chaos while directing traffic. In the summer months, prices are significantly higher – clearly, they just want to cash in on the tourists. A simple digital information system showing approximate waiting times – as is common EVERYWHERE else, even in african countries – would be extremely easy to implement. And given how much time the staff just stand around without engaging, it would be no effort at all to keep it updated. Truly embarrassing and amateurish. An absolute disgrace. No concept of service whatsoever. You feel like you’re in a third-world country.
Quick and pretty hassle free way to cross the Gironde; no advance booking, just drove up, paid at the ticket booth (€49 car, 2 adults and 1 child), no more than 20 minute boarding time for us. Pleasant enough 25-30 minutes crossing from Royan to Verdon sur mer. Much quicker than the round trip via Bordeaux.
Smooth embarkation as a cyclist. They don't sell return tickets, only singles (I guess that just means there's no discount for buying a return). Bike including tandems are free and you pay as a foot passenger (5 euro for an adult today). Push your bike on and off the ferry. Crossing takes about half an hour. Easy disembarkation and straight onto our cycle route south. Plenty of outdoor seating today.
This is a great little ferry that let's you avoid getting snarled up in Bordeaux. Easy on, easy off.
Near, far, wherever you are I believe that the heart does go on Once more, you open the door And you're here in my heart And my heart will go on and on
The staff onboard were very friendly but the ferry (south) added 4 hours to our journey. The whole of the town of Royan was a complete gridlock, we were queueing through town for 3.5 hours. I accept it’s a Saturday in August so it would be busy. But that’s well known so why is there no plan to do something different to increase the throughput? Crazy.

Very nice old diesel!
I can't say anything about the little tourist train but I slept in this shelter on a very rainy night in August 2016 during a bicycle tour. It certainly keeps the rain off.
(Translated by Google) Pleasant walk between Soulac and Pointe de Grave Little ocean views, but you follow the cycle path through the forest Beware of some diesel smells, so stay as far away from the engine as possible (Original) Sympathique balade entre Soulac et la pointe de Grave Peu de vues sur l’océan mais on suit la piste cyclable au sein de la forêt Attention quelques odeurs de gasoil donc s’éloigner le plus possible de la locomotive motrice
(Translated by Google) Ideal for a convenient pedestrian journey from the ferry to Soulac-sur-Mer. An idyllic ride through nature. Departs every hour to the village. Return ticket: €7.
(Translated by Google) Little picturesque walk in the forest with occasional ocean views! Appreciated by young and old, we opted for a simple journey with the children 😉 and it was dad who picked us up at Soulac station. €4 for a single ticket or €7 for a round trip! An atypical and pleasant activity.
(Translated by Google) The charm of this old tourist train, the welcoming staff, and the very pleasant route between forest and ocean unfortunately don't compensate for the inconveniences encountered: you breathe in the fuel with full lungs the entire journey, and once you arrive at Verdon, there's... nothing, except perhaps the lighthouse and its small museum for enthusiasts. Otherwise, there are only parking lots and restaurants with breathtaking views of... the ferry pier and the lines of cars. Very disappointing.
(Translated by Google) I thought the concept was really cool, but in the end it was fast. The ideal would have been to take the train, stop at the end, walk around and take it back. But we went there thinking it was a little tourist train to show us the city... but not at all, it's like a bus with 1 terminus.
(Translated by Google) An entertaining train ride through a diverse landscape. Staff very attentive and friendly. (Original) Kurzweilige Zugfahrt durch abwechslungsreiche Landschaft. Personal sehr aufmerksam und freundlich.

Lovely museum in the building at the bottom, great views across the Gironde from the top.
Interesting little museum housing a collection of old objects related to the history of the place. You can climb all the way to the top for a great 360 view of the area. Next to the lighthouse there are a few restaurants and the whole place results in a great location to make a stop and wait for your ferry to Royan to depart.
The tower was closed on Sunday although not written anywhere... Maybe under construction?
(Translated by Google) We were here in 2023. The Pointe de Grave Lighthouse is a great discovery! 🗼 The small museum located in the old keepers' building is very interesting, with historical objects and models that trace the history of lighthouses and navigation. The climb of 107 steps is rewarded with a breathtaking view of the ocean and the Gironde estuary. It is a charming place, full of history, perfect for a visit with family or friends. We really enjoyed this experience which combines heritage and magnificent landscapes. To see if you are in the Médoc! (Translated by Google) A magnificent lighthouse worth a visit if you're in Gironde. (Translated by Google) A beautiful lighthouse with a lighthouse museum at the tip of the Gironde estuary, where you can learn a lot about the Phare de Grave and the other lighthouses in the Gironde region. Information is only available in French. The entrance fee is moderate. You can climb a spiral staircase and two very steep metal staircases (almost ladders) with a total of 117 steps to the viewing platform. The climb is definitely worth it; the view is simply magnificent. The only drawback is that the lighthouse and museum are only open Thursday through Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Lovely trip, definitely worth while if you love the sea and coastline. Very interesting to see lighthouse and sand banks and way the sea interacts around them. Also fishing huts, caves and beautiful buildings that line the coast. Well organised and looked after by helpful, friendly, crew and office teams. Great trip.
Did the short trip with no entry to lighthouse. It was calm so was very enjoyable, bit windy so we did go inside & get coffee. They only take cash just to be aware. Also the information was only in french so if you intend on getting information on the coastline, lighthouse etc. you need to be fluent in french. There was no other languages provided, not even a little flyer. It was a pleasant little cruise all the same.
It was a fantastic experience. The trip there was special with the boat in combination with an amphibious vessel and then the wading to the lighthouse. Water shoes are recommended. The lighthouse is beautiful inside and out and after the climb you can enjoy a magnificent view. We had very nice weather. My special thanks go to the crew who helped us to make it to the boat trip. We were stuck in traffic for a long time and they kindly waited for us for a few minutes. Without their help, it would have been a disaster. I also received a personal explanation in English about the planning of the day. Definitely a day trip which I can highly recommend.
A unique experience, well worth the trip. Couldn't work out how we were going to land on the lighthouse, but everything was very well planned and the special transit vehicle which took us from the boat to the lighthouse was amazing.
Visiting the Cordouan lighthouse is a unique experience, I enjoyed every minute of it.
(Translated by Google) Good experience, we chose the Côte de Beauté tour, a passage from far away to the lighthouse and then on the Royan coast. We have explanations (but when the boat is at full speed we don't understand everything, too bad). The price is correct for adults but I'm removing a star because charging a 2-year-old child €18 when they don't get much out of it... Very fun and challenging trip with a speedboat with an inflatable disk behind it. Together with 2 boys of 12 and 14. High speed and sharp turns made it quite tough, but very fun. Afterwards we received nice photos and videos from the driver of our speedboat!
Great instruction, good gear and well guided by Lucas - Jack Sparrow! My 13yrs son and I had a blast in big waves outside the harbour! Thanks a lot!
We booked the long tour to the corduan and it was amazing. In our group of 4 it was really fun and a lot of speed. Our guide David did a great job and drove exciting courses with us. I would like to go out on a ride with him again. The equipment was new, clean and powerful of cause. Great experience.
David makes a great Job. We are doing Banana Boat. It is so strong to hold on the Boat, but it's so nice. Let's do it again 💪 We are sad we didn't get the video when we fell into the water 😪
Went in summer 2022, with a duo-ride with my son. Had the great Marie as our guide, and had a blast! Great explanation of the scenery (also in English!!) and safety first. Don't forget to get the photo's ;-) Easily recommended ...
We did the Ocean trip with 2 jetskis, lots of fun!
In 2 words: incredible experience! What a fun and exciting ride. We (family of 4) did the ‘Traverseé de Gironde’ tour accompanied by our fantastic guide Marie. Beautiful scenery, fast (very fast) rides across busy ship lanes but still safe and enough distance due to the large open waters of the Gironde estuary. Excellent explanation in fluent English by Marie on the safety rules and the required handling skills to have a fun yet safe experience. We even managed to ride (and jump…) some pretty large waves. Absolutely value for money. Protip: make a reservation in advance as this is a very popular and one of a kind attraction in the region.
Amazing experience and top class jetskis... Mary was extremely helpful in all aspects from initial contact to our return from our tour. Jude was an amazing moniteur... Highly recommended ...
