Delicious and informative wine tasting in a beautiful setting! Really great to learn more about the Talha traditions. The premium white was especially delicious. Thank you and we hope to return!
A splendid evening with family. We had traditional Alentejo food with both a red and white wine. The atmosphere was very good. Service great and the food was very tasty. We recommend the fish, lamb and bean soup. Enjoy😸
Stopped here 3 years ago and botched that review. We had lunch here. The food was amazing, and the wine was delicious. After lunch, they kindly invited us to view their traditional wine making process with the Roman urns. It as totally unexpected. Like, "oh, and here's where we make the wine" right next door. It was very memorable - if you are in the area, it is well worth a visit.
Very interesting place to visit. Joana was giving us a great insight in the traditional wine making process and it was really good! The place itself is very impressive with the massive antique containers! Well done :)
I had the immense pleasure of spending a couple of hours at Cella Vinaria Antiqua this evening. Isabel our guide was exquisite. We had trouble finding the place but are we ever glad we did. We tried 4 talha wines paired with cheese, olives, chorico and Alentenjo bread and learn about the talla wine making process. Highly recommend to anyone wanting a truly authentic experience. (Tip for anyone trying to find this amazing place - it’s at the top of hill)
This place is magic. The food is unbelievable delicious. The owner Mr. TONY is the best the you can receive in your lifetime. You must visit this place before you die.
Joana greeted us and shared some history of this historical adega which still produces wine in the talha method. Everything about our visit was great and Joana was so gracious! Definitely worth a visit!! Obrigado Joana!
Having done a wine tasting a few years back I would highly recommend visiting their museum and just take in the whole atmosphere of the place. Just to hear their passionate story and effort put into reviving this ancient tradition was more than worth the money , but adding a wine tasting alongside some local produce ( including grapes ) was an experience to remember forever . Highly recommend and unlike us do visit their restaurant next door as the place is amazing and food looked great ! Will need to return and do it all again next year now :)

(Translated by Google) The Clock Tower of Vila de Frades contains one of the few clocks in Portugal that works by pendulum and winding. The original construction dates back to the 16th century, and received the bronze bell in 1780. The tower was completely remodeled in 1890 (date shown on the front of the tower) in the revivalist style, recapturing medieval elements, such as the stepped merlons and the ogival openings, completely changing the image of the old medieval tower. (Original) A Torre do Relógio de Vila de Frades contém um dos poucos relógios de Portugal a funcionar por pêndulo e à corda. A construção original é do séc.
