In Latvia, close to Tukums, is a town famous for its film industry. making it the perfect setting for historical movies and television shows. It was initially built for the historical drama "Defenders of Riga" filming. A church, a post office, a police station, and a movie theater are among the fully furnished and operational buildings in the movie town.Cinevilla opens 10:00 - 19:00 daily and entry ticket for to explorer all the outdoor locations is €5.00 which is for adult. Most locations have QR codes that can be scanned to access additional information, including brief movies. have excellent parking options. There is a cafe as well where you may eat a wonderful a meal.
Came on monday, haven't met a lot of visitors. Ticket costs 7 Eur. The place hasn't left impression, interesting to inspect decorations nothing more. Worth a visit if driving en route.
I’m happy to see improvement, was interesting as I hadnt visited in couple years, however at first to get to tickets felt very abandoned, arrows were placed confusing, toilets were dirty. It might be nice also to consider always having some actor interaction, like for example giving tours at certain times for everyone, other than that since it was en route it was nice place to stop by, seeing how it has improved makes me hopeful this place is interested in growth :)
Amazing place!!! Super fun and surprising!!! Strongly recommend 👌
Absolutely splendid place! Here you'll find a real old locomotive, and surprisingly realistic historically looking bridges (actually consisting of only one half and going over a ditch that might look like a deep river when filled), buildings that have only facades, belonging to a big range of "age" and "function", and a fully-built ancient slavic or viking yard. The place is amazing!
An excellent experience. Everything is well organized. You can freely walk around almost everywhere. Worth to visit for everybody
We had a fantastic experience at Cinivilla Studio! The atmosphere there is truly remarkable, andI was exciting to witness the preproduction film creation process. Additionally, the studio offers convenient parking facilities. Moreover, the territory also features a cafe where you can enjoy a delicious meal.
Nice and interesting place to visit, especially if you have guided tours or have a group visit. You can stay overnight there and enjoy local restaurant.

Visited on a day trip- looked around the castle and expositions. A beautiful and well maintained castle wit interesting "forrest museum" that has a ot of interactive elements for your children
Room interior, surrounding of the castle is pleasant and like should be in a castle. Much roses in the garden. Beautiful park in the castle area. Rooms has no numbers, be sure to get in yours! 🙂Administrator is responsive. Unusual was that during our check in we must write what we would like to have for breakfast from the list, mention breakfast time. At the breakfast we got only what was mentioned before in the list, plus glass of juice, even no water. It is not worth to order breakfast in the castle, it was poor. At the dinner we got fish which was very salty and not fresh. Complaint about the food to the waitress. She said she will find out. Despite that we got any clarification, apology or substitution of the dish. The chef must improve his/ her professional skills in the kitchen and not be afraid to go out of the kitchen to speak with customers. The waitress must be trained for the professional skills how to treat customers if something is going out of classic situation. There was nice, educative museum in the castle. Possible to buy some activities at the castle area.
a beautiful building, just an hour from Riga. we haven't been to the hotel, but the area around is well-kept and beautiful. i think you can visit at any time of the year and not regret it
The road leading to the territory is not so great, but other than that, it's a great experience if you ever want to stay overnight in a picturesque place. Attention to details and breakfast is worth the praise!
Nice casel with decorated rooms. You can get there only by car. I am sure in summer there is beautiful ( you can take a walk around a small lake). Total time to spend inside 40 min-1h. No coffee shop around only guest house(hotel). Probably they do audio tour guide(I saw labels on wall).
It was a really nice place, got to explore the whole castle and the upstairs has a really nice "museumy" thing going on. Visiting as someone from England it's easy to claim it's not really a castle but just accept it and enjoy Like I did.
Really lovely place. Staff dresses in medieval age style. Gives the right vibe. Park area to walk around with kids. For family it's great. Food is good, delicious and they have worked on the look.
Very nice location, not far from Riga just about an houre by car. Has a lot of very cosy and beautiful indoor facilities. Really makes you feel like in old times. I was attending friends wedding in here. It gave a very uplifting feeling. A lot of nice outdoor location for photo shoot.

Chocolate shop

Tickets for the chocolate museum were available without the pre-booking for a party of 6. Unfortunately, chocolate making masterclass and the guide were not available for our visit due to short notice. This, however, didn't make the experience less interesting. There is plenty of information about cocoa and chocolate to learn at the museum. We also have decided to make our own chocolate degustation - we have purchased a really good coffee, box of assorted truffles, and ice cream. The table area in the shop was nice and cool on a scorching day. Overall, it was a very good day out, and i would recommend it!
It is worth going only if you manage to book for workshop of making chocolate. If you miss it, the historic part is quite poorly made and can be quite cold since it is located in the basement. Make sure you dress up :)
Nice, small museum about chocolate. A little bit chilly inside. Cozy one.
An interesting museum with an exhibition about the history of chocolate, from the Mesoamerican cultures' use of cacao up to today's industrialised production of chocolate. They offer workshops for groups where you can make your own pralines. The premises are quite worn down and it's very much off the beaten path. If you're interested in chocolate, however, this makes for an excellent destination. Oh, and they have storks.
Nice place. You have to visit a cafe, located near it and try "burbulvafeles" icecream.
A small, but very nice museum showing the history of chocolate. As entry ticket you get a small chocolate (children were so happy!) In the museum shop all kind of sweet treats are waiting for you.
Waited a long time, but nobody even said hello. In fact, the ladies were ordering pizza for lunch and looked unhappy we entered. No guided tours, looked extremely unattractive and boring.
Interesting museum to see. Good historical view of choclade and cacao and they give you a candy too😍 at the end is a chocolade candy shop

Elevator access to inside - can drive closer to the building by car if wheelchair access or similar needed, but needs asking from the staff because the door is closed. First floor is a masterpiece. Second is on plates and ceramics.
Beautiful manor. Guide was excellent. Room sets were beautifully done. For kids it was boarding as there were no attractions for them. Outside there is a nice park where they can run.
Great place to visit if you're around!👌
A beautiful museum. We even kind of got a free tour around the 1st floor, probably because we were almost the only ones there on a rainy day. Since we're lazy readers, some exhibitions on the second floor seemingly lacked some context. Nevertheless, it was interesting enough!
Beautiful and interesting castle, museum and forest/park.
Inside you'll find a great museum even if you don't expect so just by looking at the exterior. Friendly staff of two ladies, one of them has even shown us around a bit. 2.5 eur per person which is cheaper than any other museum.
Great old place. Staff was very nice. Expositions varied and interesting(but check online for up to date info). One star off for WC being unavailable at time of visit😅
As a follow-up on our previous unsuccessful visit where we were greeted by a locked door a good hour and a half before closing time, we came to Durbe Manor again on a Saturday, and this time it was an altogether different experience. We were welcomed by a knowledgeable guide who gave us a short tour of the ground floor, told us a few stories from the life of the manor’s former owners, and showed some of its hidden secrets – 19th century roller blinds, anyone? The interiors on the ground floor are charming and filled with an atmosphere of a late 19th-early 20th century manor house. The rooms are beautifully restored, period furniture and decorations transfer you to a different epoch and awaken your imagination. The dining room is our personal favourite. On the upper floor there is a fantastic collection of porcelain with items that you want to admire forever. As a special treat for history lovers, there is an exhibition on Latvian War of Independence combining attractive installations, period photos and textual information that are both visually impressive and educational. The place is a hidden gem definitely worth a visit.

Very interesting place - family business. You can see a lot of straw figures and the owner will explain more about it. Recommend it.
Very nice and sweet family-owned museum. Highly recommend for families with kids up to 10 y.o.
Interesting exhibitions and a very friendly owner.
Really cool. Definelitly recommend.

Figures of people, birds and animals, from a small hedgehog to a three-meter cat....all made of straw. We were simply delighted with children😄 and brought home a new pet for the cat company😻😹 (Original)

The present altarpiece "Christ on the Cross" was acquired by the church in 1859, but in the 30s of the 20th century, the city's wealthiest citizens gave it four colorful stained glass windows. An observation tower has been installed in the church, from which the city can be viewed from a height of 23.5 meters (to visit the tower you have to pay €2.00 for adults and €1.00 for children from 7 to 12 years old) The church is accessible to people with mobility difficulties.
