It is a wall that you can walk along the Rio Lozoya. It is not crowded with people so it is good for walking. From the highest point, you can see the Buitrago del Lozoya at a glance.
Little hallway before you reach the church. Lovely walls and sightseeing.
The "Muralla" preservation is ok, but auxiliary cables on the floor and walls for lighting kill the magic if any. Ugly Mannequing as soldiers on the wall seem they have been taken from a cloths store. 2 Euros for going upstairs the wall and if you visit the curch 1 Euro for the light and 1 euro for going the bell house upstairs.
every day at 12 there is a free guided tour, very recommended as the guide will give you the story behind what you see
Such a beautiful place! We took the tour to see the medieval weapons at the clock tower, interesting stuff.
Great medieval city
(Translated by Google) a true testimony of the town's medieval past. Walking through its ancient walls allows you to travel back in time, while enjoying spectacular views of the natural environment that surrounds the town. The wall, which once served to protect the population, maintains its imposing character and offers a unique experience, both historical and visual. Furthermore, the fact that you can still explore a large part of its perimeter allows you to feel part of the history of this beautiful town. Without a doubt, a must-see place for lovers of history and architecture.

Cool nice place to relax and to do a family picnic, the panoramic view of the mountain and the river gives possitive vibes to all visitors and the main attraction there is the longest pool i’ve ever seen..we enjoyed it and having so much fun..
We were denied entry because they had sold all tickets when we arrived at 4pm, despite dozens of cars leaving the place. Ridiculous rule. It should be one in one out for a place that you drive far to and have to be in person to enter...
Too many people, for the price Is really annoying. We are surrounded by people with bt speakers, kids playing soccer around us with 0 respect. Not a single moment of tranquility. Better go to a pantano and enjoy the place better. Location is nice but it's ruined by the mess.
The price is 13€ per person on weekends. When you arrive, there are two lines, one for cash and one for credit card (no option to pay in advance). Keep the receipt they give you and once they sign it, you will be able to go in and out the whole day. If you go in peak summer, make sure to get there early. Once they reach capacity (700 vehicles), they do not let anyone else inside. The pool opens are 1030, but the parking opens early. There will be attendants to help guide your parking. There are also discounts for seniors and big families. You can bring your own coolers/chairs. There is a snack bar by the entrance. They serve breakfast till 1230. Our group got 2 patatas bravas, 3 waters, 2 tortillas for 28€. There are plenty of lockers & changing rooms, the staff were friendly and the pool was amazing!!
The longest cleanest pool ever! After a six hour journey from Granada this was a wonderful place to unwind.
Great place on the outskirts of Madrid for adults and children. You can get food and drink which is very good but can also take a pic Nic. So glad we done the 1 hour journey to get there, kids loved it and the views are spectacular
A brilliant place to visit for a very cheap price per person. The pool is very clean and the area for sitting and relaxing has plenty of shade.
Plenty of shadow and space for families around the biggest pool I've ever seen.

I'm not really that big a fan of Picasso, but the personal aspects of the works shown here - the fact that they're gifts given over the course of many years to a close friend - helped me connect to the art. A hidden gem to the north of the big city that deserves more recognition. I strongly recommend this place.
It is an art museum that was built in the basement of the city hall in 1985 based on works donated by Eugenio Arias Herranz, a barber and close friend of Picasso. Picasso gave various works of art to his friends as proof of his affection. Although it is a small collection of 65 pieces, it is well organized. Another thing to note is that this is the first art museum created and opened by the Community of Madrid.
Evidence of a beautiful friendship between Picasso and his barber 😍😍
I wish I could visit this place again. I had a great experience being there. Seeing masterpieces from close. Picasso was a great master.
Great museum, very unique. Is free and has a lot of interesting pieces.
Great to see a masters work. Beware it closes at 15,30. Easy to find on Google maps
private collection of Picasso's barber
A beautiful day out. Fabulous exhibits in a gorgeous setting

Buitrago del Lozoya is a Spanish town on the Lozoya River near Madrid. It’s known for its well-preserved Moorish town walls. The 15th-century Castle of Buitrago del Lozoya was built in the Islamic-Spanish Mudéjar style. The Church of Santa María del Castillo has an ornate coffered ceiling. The Picasso Museum–Eugenio Arias Collection includes the artist’s ceramics and drawings donated by his friend, a local barber.
The Castle of Buitrago del Loyoza is a medieval fortress originally built in the 15th century by the Mendoza family. The castle was constructed over earlier fortifications constructed during the period of Muslim occupation and was constructed in the Gothic Mudéjar style. The castle fell into disuse in the 17th century and later received damage during the Spanish Civil war in the 20th century. The castle is now in a state of ruin but is open for visitors. I thoroughly enjoyed the visit to Buitrago and the castle itself even if it is a little small. We were able to climb the old castle wall for just a couple of euros which while not hugely extensive was fun and gave us views of the rest of the old town. All up, it took us a couple of hours to explore the castle wall, walk around the river following the muralla (old city wall) and then climb the hill on the other side of the river. While the historic centre of Buitrago is only small, there are a couple of restaurants along the main street so visiting the town could make for a nice (shorter) day trip from Madrid or a fun stopover.
The castle is closed for restoration works. There's no date for the opening of it. You can walk all around the castle but it's entrance is closed.
Very nice view. Unfortunately when we arrived it was closed but we walked around the town on the walls surrounding the town, very beautiful view.
PROS:nice city+castle combo | castle ruins for free | nice views to the river CONS:some dirty corners spoil the visit
Buitrago de Lozoya is a picturesque little town with a rich history worth a visit !
Lovely place with so much green and the river!
Super nice place to visit in summer. Especially in August when there are many celebrations

A must do if visiting the greater Madrid area. Beautiful scenery along the trail ride! Good for first time riders and experts alike. There is also a nice cafe at the stables for a beer and an espresso after your ride. Would recommend 100%
We were there a couple a weeks ago. While the scenarios were pretty awesome we felt like the instructors were there just to control and chat between them. They were at the back of the group, and only when one of the horses start running they turned their attention on us. Alice, the woman, was hitting the horses with a stick to trot around, even when we were not confident enough to do so. The other guy, Danny told us not to scream, but who can blame us when our horses started running like CRAZY following the rest of the group. However, the food was delicious.
I just have wonderful words for such experience I lived in this place!! The instructors are wonderful people who speak with you along the activity. You can move freely through the way with no restrictions which helps to keep you up and never get bored. In a nutshell, I truly recommend to ride a horse in such incredible place 😊😍
AMAZING EXPERIENCE!! that we did it twice the 3 days we was staying there. Danny and his family were very helpful and fun. That was our first time riding and we felt safe as the horses pretty much knew what they were doing. I fully recommend!!!!
Excellent riding centre! They have amazing horses for all levels of riders and all of the staff are super friendly. The views are spectacular of the mountains and countryside. Highly recommend!!!
It was so fun, cheap and the teachers were so kind!
I'm happy we chose this place. Not just a walk with horses but galloping and running too if you want. It was my first time on a horse and everything went perfectly well.
(Translated by Google) An incredible experience. We have thoroughly enjoyed the horseback riding route, surrounded by an impressive natural landscape. The horses were assigned based on level, so even those of us who had no previous experience felt very comfortable. Our guide was very attentive and made us feel safe at all times. A perfect activity to disconnect. We will repeat without a doubt! Well preserved historical site, castle, and church. We felt safe climbing the tower stairs. Well worth a visit.
Worth a visit as part of a day in the town which has fine walls you can walk, in a glorious setting, many fine bars and a free museum containing art by Picasso. You need a euro to get electric lights on in the church.
Go to the tower!! This is a beautiful church from the 16th century. Very well preserved with beautiful religious artifacts and incredible architecture. In the left side of the church there's a door that you can go through that leads to the top of the tower. It cost 1€ to go up, there's a torniquete where you can put 1€ coin, and only 1 euro coin will work. Recommend going up, just be careful because the bells still play and they are kinda loud!!
It was built in the 14th century and rebuilt in the 15th century. Of the four parishes that existed in Buitrago del Lozoya in the 16th century, this is the only one that has survived to this day.
Nicely preserved, but very dark. It has a bell house upstairs and a separated Sacristia, very cousy.
Beautiful and well preserve old century Church
Very much recommended point to visit.
(Translated by Google) The Church of Santa María del Castillo is the only parish church currently preserved of the four that existed in the Spanish town of Buitrago del Lozoya in the 16th century. It was built within the walled enclosure, very close to the castle. Construction of the church began in the early 14th century, probably on the site of an old mosque. It was completed in 1321, although it was restructured in the 15th century, as evidenced by the windows and two doorways in the Hispano-Flemish style, which was widespread in the late Middle Ages in the northern part of the Community of Madrid. The nave was originally Gothic in style, covered with a ribbed vault, the origins of which can still be seen today on the bare facades of its interior. The apse has a polygonal shape and is of better workmanship than the rest of the nave, as it was built with well-worked granite ashlars, in contrast to the rest of the nave, which was made with unworked ashlars. In 1936, Republican commandos burned the entire complex, resulting in the loss of the church's altarpieces, paintings, and carvings. The fire also caused the collapse of the Gothic roof, which was transformed into a Neo-Mudejar style following the restoration carried out in 1982. It is worth noting that the coffered ceiling covering the main altar dates back to the 15th century, having come from the former Hospital of San Salvador. All the restoration work was carried out by students of the San Francisco de Asís School-Workshop, which teaches various trades to boys and girls between the ages of 13 and 16.
