Amazing castle and grounds. The staff were extremely helpful and very informative. Included in the admission price are two falconry displays which really made the day. Best to arrive early before the coaches turn up. Definitely worth the visit.
This was one of the most beautiful castles that we went into. It was completely furnished and had attendance in rooms that you can ask questions. Was really a nice morning spent. On the first floor was a snack area where you can get coffee tea or to nibble on after the tour was over.
A stunning castle. The gentleman at the castle passionately explained its history to us and even let us take a photo of a castle photo taken in the late 1800s. If we had had the energy to go down to the garden, we could have seen the castle from the other side for an amazing view.
You must buy tickets for this castle in advance, as they only open for a short time period and are quite busy. This castle looks amazing from the garden. It's like a castle pops out from a fairy tale. The garden is very nicely designed as well, especially the thistle and lavender, which are very well bred. Inside is not that impressive, as most of the rooms are quite low key, and not much extravagant furniture. However, the white lilac ceiling was quite stunning. I have not seen any interior design like that before. One thing I dislike about the castle are the over amount of deer head specimens and some animal carpets. Apparently the owners used to live hunting deets and went to Africa and killed some lions and leopard and made them into carpets. I understand those are a part of the castle so I have no complain to the staff, but I am simply saying animal lovers should be aware of this before they enter the castle. Do not miss the falconry show in the garden. It’s very educational. You get to meet Harris Hawk, American Kestrel, Barn Owl, etc. The cafe is great too. Their cakes and soup are very good. Overall, I had a great experience here. Definitely worth coming for.
The self managed tour was very interesting with some very well informed volunteers to give information if asked for it. We did not manage to go round the gardens as our mobility is not too good, but the views over the gardens are beautiful.. The cafe was very busy but food was lovely.
We made this trip as one of our rainy day activities. (It stopped raining when we arrived 😂) Lovely castle, one of the most rewarding castle visits we've had for £44 (family ticket) The Falconry presentation was brilliant! The museum is weird and wonderful The gardens are beautiful 10/10
Beautifully impressive building. You can smell the old, if you know what I mean. Loads of rooms set up how they would likely be used, a little eerie about so interesting to see the kids toys, train tracks and dolls house set up. The gardens are beautiful. You can hang around to see the birds show, it’s on at set times. We didn’t. We enjoyed our walk round both building & gardens. At the exit you can see the canons built in to the top of the walls along the long drive way. There is ample parking with attendants to tell you where to go. Think we paid about £40 for 2 adults and a teenager. The gift shop is lovely, not over prices either, if you see the little highland cow - but it! I still regret not buying it! Thought I’d find a million the same but none compare 🤦🏼‍♀️😂. There is a cafe but we didn’t go in as we’d already eaten. Check out the giant rhubarb in the garden! 😱 HUGE 😂 you’re never getting a sugar bowl big enough 😂
Best castle expierence we had till now. Magnificent architecture, very well preserved castle rooms. Loads of articles are on display and friendly staff are eager to give you more information about these stuffs. There are some of the best "windows with views" in the castle. Plenty of free parking. Toilets are ok. Gardens are amazing and very well maintained. There are a couple of Falconery shows every day (check timings) . Cafeteria served kids lunch boxes and good coffee. Overall it's the best value for the money

Delightful easy walk along a river valley to 3 waterfalls. Just beautiful. Currently left bank closed (May 2024) so a bit of a scramble down to the alternative path.
Lovely water falls throughout the walk. The main footbridge through from the big burns car park is closed (although someone has ripped the tape down it still has closed signs everywhere) however you can access the main waterfall from the car park right next to the waterfalls. I would still recommend doing the walk up to the closed bridge from the main car park as there’s some stunning scenery along that route too.
Fantastic walk to the beautiful waterfalls. Car park has narrow road down to it, but is ok for motorhomes with 2 large bays alongside the car spaces.
The Big Burn walk in Golspie, just past the Golspie Inn. It is a twenty-minute spectacular walk (40 minutes there and back) that follows the Golspie Burn up a scenic forested gorge to a waterfall. The path crosses several footbridges and a skating pond. The walk culminates in a spectacular waterfall - unfortunately, due to the dry weather, it was dry when we reached it. The path needs some maintenance, but is easily accessible. There was a plank across one of the bridges, but we and others just dipped under it and went across. Well, worth visiting if you are in the area. After the walk, call in at the Golspie Inn for excellent food and coffee.
Absolutely lovely. A moss covered cliff with silver threads of water actually nicer than the fall itself. A splendid one arch stone railway bridge. It's all open - disregard a couple of keep off notices on one bridge. In the streeview of the bottom car park the entrance is hidden. It's to the right of the gate and before the bridge.
The Big Burn Walk was recommended to us by our host as well as some other visitors. Visited in the morning, around 10am, it felt absolutely magical. Like a forest straight out of a fantasy book. Absolutely worth a visit.
Lovely walk we stumbled upon not enough parking though. Great waterfalls there between Xmas & New Year so plenty of 🌊
The walk to the waterfall from the car park is beautiful and not particularly challenging. Well worth it for the waterfall at the end.

Magical. If you are at all interested in Neolithic sites, and especially if you’re headed to Orkney to see the village at Skara Brae, do not miss this one! We were the only people there and were able to walk all around and inside. At the more well known sites you’ll look but not touch, so this is really special.
Beautiful, atmospheric place. Amazing views. Kids to seniors will live exploring here.
Beautifully preserved. With info panels and free entry. But if you're not passionare by "2000 yo. piles of rocks", this might not be for you.
Carpark opposite. Need to cross the busy A9. Look for the road sign warning of pedestrian crossing and walk down the slightly steep slope. A quick 15min stop to see a real iron age settlement.
Lovely place to spend half an hour. Free parking on the other side of the road and just a short 3 minute walk to the Broch. Cross the main road and tun away (to your right) from the car park, to access a small trackway to the Broch. We went left and had a trickier route, especially for my 80 year old mother. Awesome place to visit though, we were the only ones there 👌
This is the kind of history that I absolutely adore. Boyfriend found it on google maps when we finished visiting Dunrobin’s castle. If you are in the area, do make a stop. There is free parking available across the road. Once you park, cross the road and go down one of the few paths created by visitors. Walk to the left and through the gate. Read more about the broch on the info board at the entrance.
Nice bit of history. Nice walk to the beach. Use the path instead of creating a shortcut, bank is being damaged by idiots not wanting to walk the extra 120seconds!
If you are driving up the east coast doing the 500 or just visiting Dunrobin, this is somewhere that is easy to add as a stop, it 5 minutes up the road from Dunrobin Castle. There is a good parking place, with a footpath leading from the far end of the car park down to the Carn. It’s amazing to visit somewhere so old and see how people used to live thousands of years ago. If you like history this is a must do stop, otherwise its just a great place to visit.

Glorious Golspie! Played the Gents open 4/08/24 the course was in fantastic condition with a good variety of holes, great views and greens that looked like carpets and putted true A mention to the 2 lovely lady's in the pro shop who were very friendly and made me feel very welcome, thank you Definitely should be on the list of must plays
Interesting golf course. Combination of links, heathland and bit parkland style. Small but efficient clubhouse. Very traditional. Very sustainable. Variety of holes. Deep rough, tough shots on firm fairways. Interesting greens, not always hardly guarded with bunkers. Ridiculous 18th with strange hill closing wiev to green and players walking towards.
What a lovely course. Mainly links but a few holes of parkland thrown in. The course is immaculate and well cared for in all areas, especially the greens. Very welcoming and I can’t wait to return!
Fantastic golf course the greens were like velvet
The course is absolutely fantastic. The staff are very welcoming to visitors. Janette in the pro shop had a chat with us and explained the course in detail and gave us some inside knowledge! The fairways and greens were spectacular, a credit to the green staff. 100% worth a visit. Best greens I've seen this year!!.
Disappointing morning. Course undergoing maintenance so missed two holes and greens heavily sanded. Still had to pay full fee and welcome was curt and unfriendly, being told not to play white tees because visitors treat the course badly and to pick up and walk on if any worker on a green. Not welcoming at all really Course is quaint with some interesting holes, but several bland stretches and generally a little muddy and more heathland than links.
Really nice course which is mostly sea view, plenty of challenge and in great condition. The chips in the clubhouse are probably the best in the country and certainly in the local area
Fantastic experience at Golspie Golf Club. Course was great, well laid out and well maintained. Club was welcoming, service and food excellent, proshop well stocked. Enjoyed the round immensely. Wind was horrendous 😀

A wide range of really lovely things - paintings yes, but much more... like textiles, jewellery - that are really different and attractive. There are things for a wide range of 'pockets', high-end furniture down to greetings cards and postcards.
Wonderful selection and mix of artworks, good variety of prices.
Great gallery, beautiful products. Staff we're friendly and helpful.
Unusual and unique pieces, lovely welcoming gallery
