Well worth the visit. Plenty of information about volcanoes in general and specifically the ones on La Palma. The seismograph with real time trace is good fun as you can see the trace change as you walk or jump near it. The earthquake simulator plate outside is thought provoking. Yes, I can stand on it but how far could I walk or run if the earth was shaking like that? There's a nice, though potentially challenging walk around the crater rim giving great views into the crater and out to sea. Easy to get to by car (ample parking available) or by using the number 23 bus. The current entry fee of €8 is fair especially if you take the time to look at the exhibits and appreciate the information in them.
Great visitor centre with lots of well prepared information on the volcanoes of La Palma and some good documentation of the most recent outbreak. The walk around the crater is easy and impressive with great views. The facilities are in good quality too, so the 5€ entry fee is justified, especially if you think that there are so many well maintained paths , parking facilities and outlook points on the whole island for which you don‘t have to pay - so a small fee such as here is absolutely fine.
I highly recommend to visit this place. If you want to make your life easier, just cone bu car, pay entrance fee 8Euro (07/2025) per person and enjoy it. Visotors center contains articles, pgotos and videos about La Palma vulcanic origin, about the geological history and so on... Thrn go for 20-30 mins light tour toward calcerof Vulcan, great view, worth to come and see. Be prepared for some lught rain due to foggy/cloudy weather sometimes and temperature even in July around 19 deg. - depends.
Short walk out and back around half the volcano crater. Quite windy at the time, so be careful. Lots of very interesting information on the visitor centre.
Nice museum, you can walk to the vulcano and have a nice view. An easy 25 minuten walk. Unfortunately, the openinghours arenot correct. We arrived at 16.50 as the museum would be open unril 18.30. The museum was open until 17.30. A lot of tourist arrived too late to be allowed in. Great museum, check the openingtimes
The price for the entrance, 8 euro per person is way too high for what you get in exchange... Othen than that, nice views from the little walk and in the center you get information about how the the island was created due to volcanic activity...
Really interesting museum that explains a lot of the volcano activity in the Canary Islands. Some of the posters are a bit dated, but the information was great!
If you are visiting La Palma, this place has to be on your list. Fantastic experience, full of so much information, Everything is in 3 languages Spanish German English So even if Spanish is not your first language, you will still get a lot out of your visit. And the walk on the volcano, is for everyone, and the view point is great. We recommend this place to everyone

Salt-extraction complex with self-guided tours & a restaurant overlooking the coast.

This is such an interesting stop on the southern tip of La Palma. Seeing and learning about the entire process of extracting pure salt from seawater is fascinating, as is discovering the difference types of sea salt. The walk through the salt pans is all volcanic gravel but is an easy stroll (although I would suggest fully closed shoes as the rock can be very sharp). Every time we have been there, it has been quite windy, so I would recommend a windbreaker or at least long sleeve shirt even on nice days. We have been here several times and plan to stop by the next time we're on that end of the island.
Nice place. You can walk through the Salinas with also amazing volcanic lanscape behind it. We bought some salt in the gift shop and had some traditional dips with bread at the restaurant which were really great!
Very peculiar place. A must see when visiting La Palma! Good to combine with a visit to the nearby volcanos
A Must-Visit Gem on La Palma. I recently visited Salinas de Fuencaliente on La Palma, and it's truly one of the island's hidden gems. Observing the traditional salt extraction processes was not only interesting but also quite enlightening. The entire area, beautifully constructed with lava stone, adds a unique touch that amplifies the charm of this place. There's also a fantastic restaurant on-site with delightful service, making it a perfect spot to relax after a tour. I highly recommend making a stop here if you're on the island. It's absolutely worth the visit!
Apparently there are an enormous amount of dissolved micro-plastics in sea salt these days. Sad if true. The pools are beautiful.
Interesting place to visit. It's free parking and free to enter. Buses are infrequent. There are information boards along the self-guided walk explaining what goes on in the different sections. The Cafe/Restaurant is only open from 11am and from Thursday to Sunday. Also, the only toilets outside of the opening times are at the lighthouse at a cost of €2.00 to enter the information centre. There is a small shop on site selling souvenirs and cold drinks.
Lovely place , little walk with information boards. Really enjoyed it. Restaurant , bar and information centre with shop were great too. We bought some of the salt there. Lighthouse was being painted on our visit. Would recommend as a little local trip.cheap public bus goes every 2 hours.
Good place near the lighthouse. If you go by the guided road then you will understand the whole procedure of producing the salt from the sea water. All this place is surrounded by 2 year old lava from the last eruption..

(Translated by Google) The island's penultimate volcanic eruption. There's a trail that runs through the sea of lava left by the volcano. This section of the GR-131 trail runs from Los Canarios and leads to the Fuencaliente salt flats. It's approximately 6 km long. Afterward, buses take you back to the village every two hours. (Translated by Google) A nice hike. I went down from the Visitor Center to the lighthouse and after lunch in the restaurant near the lighthouse, I took the path back up to the Visitor Center. To be honest, I found the way up more pleasant than the way down. Be sure to take enough water with you :) (Original) Eine schöne Wanderung. (Translated by Google) Phenomenal views of the volcano. You have to park your car at the entrance, which is generally not crowded. After more or less 15 or 20 minutes you arrive at the viewpoint where you are next to the volcano crater itself. The track is very easy and passable to walk. It can be done with children without any problem. You can see along the track the vine plantations that are usually malvasia that contrast with the black sand landscape. Se puede hacer con niños sin ningún problema. Puedes observar por la pista las plantaciones de vides que suelen ser de malvasía que contrastan con el paisaje de arena negra.

Loved the spot. Two gorgeous lighthouses next to each other, easy to park, tiny fishing "village" just below, with a small beach. Easy walk to the salt flats.
This is an interesting place to visit, mainly for the salt pans that are next to the lighthouses. There is a cafe and restaurant that serve drinks and snacks. The salt pans have a self guided tour that you can walk around for free.
This place is truly captivating. I explored not only the salines but also the cliffs/coastline. The memorial platform and the museum round off one of the island‘s must visit locations.
Nice to see the old and new lighthouses side by side overlooking the atlantic ocean with the mountains behind. At the old lighthouse is a short film about the conservation area of the coast and its importance to the sea creatures and working with the fishing villages. You have to stand to view film as only a couple of lava ledges and no seats. 2 euro entry 1 for seniors. The room is all subdued and very relaxing with lava wall and stone sea creatures. The floor is unusual in that it is lit up, under coloured glass laid over debris/rubbish at the bottom of the ocean that causes damage to sea life. You can also stand under the stairs of the old lighthouse for an upward view. Worth a visit if conservation interests you as very interesting about the species that are doing well. They have toilets. Plenty of parking around the base of lighthouses. Restaurant/cafe, salt pans and beach nearby. The road down is long and windy and passes the banana plantations. Lovely rugged coastal views.
We visited the lighthouse while staying at the nearby Princess hotel; the bus operates regularly, taking 15 minutes to get one way. I recommend visiting the lighthouse as there's a visitor centre with salt flats, marine conservation space and a cute local beach. If you want to see more, it's worth hiring a car to explore the island!
Nice view and inside the old building there is a small exhibition about the island on a video. Nice for a small trip around the south side of the island. Close by there is also a salt farm you can visit.
Old and new lighthouses at the south of the island surrounded by a volcanic landscape. A 6k walk or €1.50 on the bus from the Princess hotel. Small beach with black sand. Salt pans nearby with a cafe/restaurant offering food and drinks at sensible prices. Worth a visit for an hour or two.
Nice lady on the entrance explained we couldn't go to the top of the old lighthouse. As it's the only place that has a toilet (cafe/restaurant was closed), we paid €2.00 each to see a video about the marine reserve, and that's all you get. There are no chairs to sit on while watching the video. It's not worth the money unless you are desperate to use the toilet.

Excellent wine, their dry white wine is very smooth and has unique taste. They have tours around the winery, but u unfortunately, at the time we were there, no one was available to show us the winery. If you're interested in a tour them make sure to let them no in advance.
An excellent wine tasting experience! Nicolas was extremely knowledgeable and passionate, making the session both engaging and educational. I learned a lot about La Palma wine! A truly enjoyable and enriching experience—highly recommended!
We turned up without a reservation, but the young woman who greeted us took it in her stride. She started by apologising for her English and saying that the usual guide wasn't available - this wasn't necessary because we thought she did a great job! It was really interesting to learn about the history of the cooperative and their production methods, to see the wonderful view down to the vineyards and to visit the cellar under the volcano. We particularly enjoyed tasting the dry and semi-dry whites and took a nice bottle home with us.
Nicholas gave us a tour with a vast historical and local knowledge- this made the tour very interesting for us - he taught us how to professionally sample and taste the wines. The wines are of outstanding quality and the huge vats of the various wines are good to see. I recommend you take the tour if this sounds interesting. If this helped you please like and follow me and I will follow you back - have a lovely day.
This is a very laid back place for a wine tasting. We walked in and waited about 5 minutes before someone came up. Which really didn't matter to us as it was worth the wait. We tasted 4 wines, all of which were very well priced. Every wine is less than 2 euros a glass. We ended up taking 3 bottles home.
Really cool wine, I tasted a wonderful 22 years old bottle of white wine from the coast called "La Time" during a winery tasting and bought a bottle. If the weather is nice they do the testing outside overlooking one of their vineyards and a volcano chimney! The also have nice reds, and a cool very aged sweet wine.
Nice winery with kind owner, good wines for tasting, fully recommended for visiting, Malvasia was excellent and surprisingly dry, also the singularis wines tasted great, bought some 🍷for tasting them home
So the town mayor randomly arrived on our visit. We were already half way through a wine tasting and Diego continued to happily attend to us, what a total gentleman. Explanations, guided tasting and overall warm welcome made for the best wine experience of my life. Wine was also totally banging!
