One of the primary D-Day landing sites on June 6, 1944. Omaha Beach played a crucial role in the Allied invasion. Today, it’s a quiet stretch of coast with several memorials and informative displays nearby.
Hard to describe all the emotions of being in this place were so many young men died . You can feel it.... looking out at the beach and the sea it's so hard to imagine the horrors of D day . A must see
Omaha Beach, France...home of perhaps the most iconic battle in the history of our country. Certainly one of the most brutal and deadly. Hopefully I will get to go there in the future
It was inspiring to learn about how the soldiers fought to reclaim France. The beach was nice and empty, and there were roses along the beach.
You would never know just by looking at this peaceful, sandy beach that on June 6, 1944, this became the bloodiest of the five DDAY landing sites. It is located adjacent to the Normandy American Cemetery which is the final resting place for over 9,000 American servicemen. There are some remnants of the fighting here such as pillboxes, rusting amoured vehicles, etc. There are also two museums next to the beach that have many exhibits from that fateful day. This beach is a living page from history and it should be remembered that freedom is never free.
I love the fact that they left the beach empty of bulky memorials and let people just stand there and appreciate the gravity of what took place there and the obsitcles they had to face. Except one structure the beach is fairly empty. Must do when I. Normandy.
Very busy mid August with a lot of tourists and local beach goers. There were families playing and people swimming where 80 years ago thousands of young men lost their lives. The sand it clean and soft. It’s still worth seeing but may be more busy than sentimental given its current state.
Fantastic visit where the crowds were remembering those that fell during the d-day landings. The events were really a fitting tribute.

This may not be a big museum, however it is one of the best in the area. It has a large range of artefacts that were used by soldiers during WW2. It also has a documentary you can see which is also fabulous. I would definitely recommend.
Not a huge museum or car park but what made it great was the individual artefacts which have been recovered over the years. Provides some great dioramas too. Spent around an hour or so looking around.
Extensive collection of artifacts and memorabilia. Great souvenir shop too. For those passing through, without days to explore the area, I’d highly recommend this place to get a good overview of the battle. It’s in a good location too, right on the beach. Good for families. Couldn’t stop singing Bob Dylan’s “Masters Of War” over in my head, the whole time. Very moving.
Very moving display. Walking on the beach where the troops landed was a very poignant moment. It is indeed touching to see the Villages and Towns in Normandy fly the US, Canadian and British flags in recognition and gratitude for the freedoms they afford as a result of the sacrifice of the brave men who landed on the beach on 6 June 1944
This place was exceptional and very well run. Totally engrossed in the experience, well worth the visit, would highly recommend ...5*****
Great way to learn a little bit of history. Admission fee includes displays and short, 20min film. Great place for adults and kids. Walking distance to Omaha beach
Went to the museum in the 90's has a very good display and a landing craft inside on display.A few artillery pieces out side and a sherman tank.
Very informative and quite emotional to see all the displays of equipment and details of the D-Day Landings. Well worth a visit and not expensive.

Visited Omaha Beach today with the perspective of a person whose land was at the state of war, and it was an experience that resonates far beyond the shoreline. I walked the sands, explored the terrain, and traced the landing zones with reverence. The scale of sacrifice and the tactical complexity of D-Day are even more powerful when seen in person. This is not just a beach, it’s a living chapter of history that continues to teach us about courage, loss, and the cost of freedom. For anyone serious about understanding World War II, this site is essential.
Beautifully kept grass and plants, with headstones in all directions, very geometrically laid out. Very moving, makes you grateful for the sacrifices made. Note thar the cemetery closed at 5, so would come earlier on another visit, it's quite large.
Incredible place to visit. It is sacred ground. Best time to visit us before 9 a.m. before the tour buses show up so you can enjoy the serenity and sacredness to contemplate the sacrifices if these brave soldiers.
The marker and sculpture are interesting but for me walk 100 m along beach. Then look up at the bluff where the Germans were dug in, look across the flat beach with unobstructed views. Then imagine the bravery of those men who had to get off the boats in the water, get off the beach and shelter under the bluff. History shows they made it up the ravine and won the day. However, even today these men’s courage here and at other beaches seems superhuman. They earned their sobriquet “greatest generation”.
Really nice there. Can’t believe that over 2000 people died here. I found an old rifle
Thought provoking. When I saw the endless white crosses, it hit me physically in the chest and I cried - these were people, not just numbers. That had not registered beyond statistics before seeing this memorial.
It’s imposible not to be moved with such an environment. There are no words to describe what you feel when walking through the beach where thousands of soldiers gave their lives fighting for the people of France and Europe.
Turned up about midday- parked on the road on the way in (avoided paying, and also avoided blocking a locals drive). Walked the beach, drove past an interesting looking museum on the left on the way in. Didn't stop- whistle stop of this one. Busy and beautiful.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Excellent choice of cidres and other local products.
If you are visiting Normandy, this place is a MUST STOP. I am a huge fan of different types of hard cider, and this place had the very best.
Did the farm tour. Very interesting. More importantly the products are fantastic. The juice is wonderful. The cidre is phenomenal, particularly the dry variety. The pommeau and calvados are top notch. Be sure to stop in. Pommeau and calvados are Norman specialties that more people should appreciate. Those made here at the Ferme de la Sapinière are top notch.
Excellent range of ciders. Service was exceptional. If you are in the area recommend you try the range of ciders from the tasting menu before you make up your mind before your purchase.
Great place for a trip and tasting. Very informative and the staff are brilliant. Brought a taster of Thatchers from Somerset for staff to taste. Mutual appreciation
A nice and cozy experience to have a short walk through the manufacture topped by tasting through a selection of the products. Under age guests can enjoy non-alcoholic juices, while others can get ciders, pomeau-s and calvadoses. Perfect English speaking host, and a broad choice of local products in the shop. Recommended.
It is telling that the local restaurants all stock this place’s cider/cidre. It is really good with a full range of styles as well as calvados available to sample at this farm shop. Would recommend it. Tours also available.
Nice forva visit ... and Calvados tasting

Expecting a tourist trap, this restaurant was nothing like that! The kids had the smash burger, and were praising how tasty meal was. We ordered ice cream and these were too big to finish. The salads were big enough to feed two people.
Went with a few buddies on a trip to see the d-day memorials and we had a great time! The lady serving us enhanced the experience and was very kind to us. We made it easier by speaking French to her, and she appreciated it and added some extra fries for us! All around great experience and all of the staff members were great.
Walked from our campsite along Omaha beach towards the war memorials and decided to stop for something to eat, there are a couple of options available but we decided to try D-Day. The establishment had a new fresh feel with ample seating both inside and outside, we was greeted by a young lady who spoke very good English we was asked if we wanted to eat in or out we opted for outdoor. The seating area is very well presented with a nice little outside bar area. We were given menus and a few minutes later the young lady returned and took our order. There were four in our party three had meals, two opted for for the Chicken burgers I opted for the chicken supreme, a few minutes later food arrived food was of excellent quality, very well presented and piping hot. Food was very tasty. The whole experience from start to finish was excellent staff and food stand out above most we have visited this week.
Fantastic sea side spot for lunch, close to the American Cemetry. We enjoyed some very tasty oysters, a delicious seafood platter, hake and camembert pot, plus the burgers are huge. Wonderful service from the (new) manager. Very welcoming for kids. Would definitely recommend/ return.
Had dinner and all of our meals was fantastic. My wife loved the fish and chips and the shrimp entree was equally good! Service was friendly, helpful with recommendations, and food was brought to table in a timely manner.
We thought the restaurant was fine. Food is average at best although service was friendly. Prices are quite high which makes sense since it’s a tourist location. You can get better food for a better price elsewhere in Normandy.
Friendly place for eating after the visit. Cool and fast staff, price normal, great food. Best fish and chip ever! Better than home!
Great place, went a few times for dinner. Right next to the beach. Parking place in front (paid until 20.00). Reasonable prices, quick and friendly service and delicious food. Dogs welcome. Outside and inside places.
