The tour is only in Spanish, but the museum has interesting displays with English explanations. Keep in mind that you have to pay cash to get your tickets. Very friendly service.
Marble Interpretation Centre, where you can see both the history of the extraction from past times and the evolution of marble working technique. The girl who attends is very nice and knows everything about marble. Much is learned about the work on marble and new industrial manufacturing processes. Recommended if you are interested in marble and natural stone!
Warned in advance that the tour was only in Spanish, we expected to understand about one word in ten. In the event, we were the only people on the tour and the charming guide spoke so clearly and slowly that we followed very well. It was a very interesting tour and included the museum but also a trip out to see some of the quarries. Highly informative and highly recommended.
Not a big museum but very interesting. We'll worth a visit!
Wonderful place to understand the ancient story of the marble exploration in the region.
(Translated by Google) The museum is very interesting. It is the only marble museum in Spain. The work that Ana, the guide, does is remarkable, because with her didactic explanations and her pedagogy, she makes us understand this craft of stonemason, which has been so important in the history of humanity and so unknown today, since it has practically disappeared with the new ways of building, and covering floors and walls, but it is still necessary to obtain the classic raw material of sculptors.
(Translated by Google) Very interesting, everything was explained in great detail, and the guide was very pleasant. The history is definitely worth knowing. (Original) Muy interesante, nos explicaron todo con mucho detalle, la guía muy agradable Vale la pena conocer la historia

Awesome marble mortar in the centre of the roundabout at the entrance to the town. The truth is that it is quite impressive when you look closely at it, because of its dimensions and the complexity of the work. Made in white Macael marble and with the mallet of another material. A must if you come to this town and take a few pictures with the mortar in the background.
At the very entrance to the town, nestled in the heart of a roundabout, stands a truly stunning marble mortar. Upon closer inspection, its scale and intricate craftsmanship become immediately apparent. The mortar bowl—crafted entirely from pristine White Macael marble—rises to a height of approximately 3.29 meters and spans about 3.07 meters in diameter at the opening, weighing in at a remarkable 30.9 tons. Complementing the bowl is the mortar’s pestle, fashioned perhaps from a different material for artistic contrast. It towers at about 4.73 meters tall, with a diameter of 0.85 meters, and itself tips the scales at 5,820 kilograms (nearly 5.8 tons) . Made from the luminous White Macael marble and crowned by the imposing pestle, this monumental sculpture isn’t just a local landmark—it’s a symbol of the town’s rich stonemasonry heritage. It’s also listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the world’s largest mortar
Great place and food is really good in the area!
It's osem place in Spain 🇪🇸 I really enjoy my version and the people of the macael have good hard

The fountain of lions. A perfect replica of the fountain in the Alhambra of Granada, made by numerical control, in white macael marble. The location is perfect and always clean and working. When night falls, the lighting is activated and provides a spectacular view of the fountain. The visit is highly recommended; it is a much closer way to see the original fountain of the lions of the Alhambra of Granada but in this beautiful village of Macael.
Beautiful marble fountain befitting one of the principal areas of marble stone mining in Spain. also be sure to not miss the giant pestle and mortar.
Lovely place. Very clean, pretty architecture. Friendly people.

recently visited the Mirador de Cosentino, and I can confidently say the experience was delightful. The panoramic views of the active marble quarry were truly captivating—rows of gleaming white marble, expansive extraction areas, and rugged terrain unfolding beneath the sky created a dramatic, unforgettable scene. What really stood out were the fascinating details visible in the quarry: the intricate veins in the marble that hint at its geological history, along with the impressive machinery—dump trucks, wheel loaders—hard at work, sculpting the landscape. It’s a window into both natural wonder and industrial craftsmanship. There’s also a charming marble arch set up for photos—a thoughtful addition that allows visitors to capture a memorable moment framed by the quarry’s grandeur. The site is complemented by informative panels that provide context about the quarry’s history and operations, enriching the visual experience with learning. Practical tips: • Visit on a weekday, if possible—the quarry is more likely to be active, showcasing machinery in motion and revealing the full pulse of the operation. • Wear sturdy footwear, as the parking area and surroundings are on rough, uneven ground. Summary Recommendation For anyone curious about geology, industrial landscapes, or simply drawn to striking views, the Mirador de Cosentino delivers. The combination of natural beauty, working machinery, and educational context makes it a must-see in the Macael region. Highly recommended!
It's a viewing area only. The view is of a section of the marble quarry. When we were there, nothing was happening. There is a marble arch set up for picture taking. Not much else. There is plenty of parking, although on rough ground.
Amazing views driving up to view point of the marble quarry. Information boards and a good view of a working quarry during the week.
It’s definitely worth a stop if you’re passing by!
Impressive sight to see even more impressive quarry
Amazing. Wonderful to see where it all starts.
Quite interesting place if you are around.
A great place to view the open mines and see the veins of marble. A few old bits of machinery and a stone arch (reminded me of a bit of Stone Henge). Once you have viewed the mine there is nothing else to do there.
