Dog’s Bay is absolutely stunning! The beach is clean and gorgeous, with soft white sand and crystal clear water. There were a few jellyfish around, but honestly, everything else was perfect — such a peaceful and breathtaking spot🏖️✨
Campervan parking, nice walking and swimming area , many little beaches to explore and rugged countryside and landscape to capture breathtaking views of. Gurteen village a short walk away for amenities, great food and coffee and I stumbled upon a windsurfing comp, very nice people encountered
Amazing beach, water, dunes. Advise to park on walking distance from the beach, just on the side of the road. Make it easy for yourself and others. Don't bother trying to get a spot as it's most likely full. To avoid traffic jams, frustration, and wasting time, just take the path or least resistance:). In not more than 10 min, you'll be lying on the beach. It's absolutely worth visiting!
As someone who doesn't like the typical sandy beach, this is a great beach to wander off to the rocky terrain nearby. Plenty of area around the beach to check out some of the cool rocky coastal features, it's quite accessible and doesn't require heavy duty shoes to get to the fun parts. Lovely to explore around, it's got a lot of the features that make the Western coast of Ireland as stunning as it is; you're face to face with the eroding power of the Atlantic. Do mind the cattle however.
Our main visit goal was the Dog's Bay. But we got lost for 2 hours at the Gurteen Bay and the eastern part of this beach peninsula. Nevertheless this beach is georgeous. It is very nice to take your shoes off an stroll through the clear water. I will for sure come back to explore also the vast south west of this small triple beach peninsula.
Lovely bay, clear water well worth a dip if it's not to cold.Beautiful white beach. Short walk up and down stoney path. Limited parking. Well worth a visit.
Gorgeous beach. FREE. It was so much fun to rock hop, look for shells, stroll on the sand, and watch the windsurfers. A must-stop on any roadtrip!
It was a sunny day! And it’s a nice beach.. unfortunately no bins or toilets around

There are not enough stars to praise this location! We give great thanks for the time and opportunity to spend with Malachy. Our son is a Drum builder and a musician which made this stop one of the highlights of our trip. The quality and craftsmanship of the Bodhran drum our son purchased makes this one of his prized possessions. The time, kindness and words of wisdom from Malachy made this a once in a lifetime opportunity. I would encourage everyone to make this a stop on your journey through Ireland. Please support this master builder! Many thanks also to Brendan with #bronzeandboru for getting us there!
I had the vast pleasure of meeting Mr. Malachy Kearns while visiting the shop. There's never been a better host more gracious or loving. Please please please visit this place not only to absorb the musical history but to support a magical business. They have musical instruments that double as art pieces. They also have the more "touristy" gifts and again I say pick up your souvenirs here. This man and this business deserves your support. Amazing craftsman ship, amazing customer service, amazing man. Make a point to visit here!
This place deserves a much higher rating!! Nowhere have I experienced such warmth, thrill and passion. Ireland needs more people like Malachy. This was easily the most fun shopping experience I've had in years.
Lots of useful and interesting touristy items here. So nice if you want a souvenir from Connemara. Man there running the place all ready for a good chat. In a great spot for tourists but needs a good tidy up.
It was a real pleasure to buy a bodhrán from Malachy's renowned shop !! He is very kind and caring, he even suggets to finish the instrument with him (and sign it !!!). The instrument has an excellent quality. Can't wait to learn and play the bodhrán with my bands ! Thank you again !!
Recently ordered a tuneable 18" bodhran from Malachy and it's such a beautiful instrument. It goes without saying that the craftsmanship is truly outstanding - I can't stop playing it - but the personal touch from Malachy in terms of the whole ordering and shipping experience really made it for me. Hopefully get to visit Roundstone one of these days to say thanks in person.
I passed by Malachy’s shop during a trip through Ireland because i wanted to buy my first Bodhran. Loved the atmosphere and loved the man himself. Hours flough by in seconds, this shop is a cavern of wonders :)
I asked Malachy to make an 8" bodhran for my Granddaughters 1st Birthday he made a beautifully personalised one that she needed no guidance, she picked it up and began rattling away..thankyou Malachy, you have a young fan!

A genuine experience, seeing the products being made and painted before our eyes. A nice bit of comhrá and we were even given some clay for the kids to take home and try their hands at crafting. In what could very easily be a tourist trap, this shop is offering quality hand made products at very reasonable prices…
Such a lovely shop. It’s been years since I was there but was reminiscing tonight and thought I’d leave a review. If you ever find yourself in Co. Galway, Roundstone, stop by this establishment, you won’t regret it. Such amazing beautiful work. I love my mug, I had two from my two visits two years apart but one broke unfortunately. I would love to go back!
We visited Roundstone Ceramics while staying with a friend in the area who's kitchen was equipped with a large number of their plates, cups, mugs and bowls. I love the look and feel of their designs and wanted to get something to take home with me. Visiting the workshop and speaking to Seamus and Rosie who were busy making stuff made it special. Their shop is very reasonably priced and I am hoping to get some more items for my home in future. Highly recommended 😁.
We popped by today and were blown away by the beautiful pieces!!! We bought a mug and can’t wait to give it as a gift… only wish we’d bought one for ourselves too! Thank you!
Beautiful pots. We bought a bowl and two cute little hedgehogs. The people were super friendly and had a lovely chat with them about pottery!
An absolute treasure of a shop – lovely, hand-thrown and decorated stoneware, original designs with a splash of local colour... One of the highlights on our trip through this gorgeous corner of Connemara.
Lovely shop, well worth a visit. Very authentic 👍
Great little ceramics shop. All types of pieces made right there. Friendly people. Reasonably priced. I bought a set of coffee mugs. They remind me of these two people making pottery in this small town, in this small shop, on the site of an old monastery looking out over the water on the far western edge of Ireland. It reminds me to slow down and enjoy the simple things.

I had a really great experience at this restaurant. The staff were super friendly and really accommodating. Very pet friendly place. The food was very reasonable and tasted so fresh. The food was so good I forgot to take a photo until half way through. Honestly the best pint of Guinness I’ve ever had. 100% would recommend and will definitely be going here next time in down this side of the country again
Stopped off at this pub while driving the Connamera Loop. Such a good find. Super friendly and helpful staff, dog friendly and delicious food. We both had the fish chowder and it was absolutely gorgeous. Super tasty, fresh, hot, and full of large pieces of fish. Would definitely recommend
I could not fault the place. The two owners and the waitresses who have been on each day have treated our family like royalty the week we've been visiting. Had food essentially every night we've been here and it's been fantastic everytime. We asked what was the situation with music was in Roundstone and were given a good breakdown each night. Thank you Ellen & John and all the staff for being so good to us all week!
We went here for a family meal (8 adults, 3 toddlers) for a family bday. The staff were so helpful from the moment of booking and throughout our time there. They were so friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious, i highly recommend. There was a lady working there (didnt catch her name, bit slightly english accent) , who was so nice and excellent at her job. Definitely visit !
I recently dined at this restaurant and was incredibly impressed with the overall experience. The food was very tasty and the menu offered a great variety of options to choose from. However, what truly stood out to me was the exceptional service provided by the two ladies working behind the counter. They were welcoming, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was top-notch. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for delicious food and excellent service.
The food was absolutely delicious, the staff was lovely and we loved the global ambiance, would 100% recommend !
Unfortunately, due to necessity, I needed to use the men’s room at the Shamrock Bar while my family waited outside in my rented car How can any establishment that exists due to the numerous tourists that visit Roundstone refuse to allow a visiting tourist use of the men’s room and actually told me to use a portable roadside bathroom “ down the road” Is that the kind of behavior you would expect from an Irish Pub that are known worldwide for their friendly and welcoming atmosphere? Surely not. Sadly, this type of behavior I have seen in the past when the owners have lost touch with customers and only are attentive to the daily receipts As a proud first generation Irishmen, I was truly saddened This behavior is not who we are!!
Nice pub and dog friendly but thats where it stops for me. The food was atrocious. My mussels were not cleaned at all, full of grit and the beards left on, barnacles not scraped off. The sauce described as wine and butter was simply the water they were cooked in. Made me worry that they were also not sorted dead/alive before and after cooking. Very dangerous. The owner whilst apologetic took no responsibility for this and blamed the supplier insisting they were delivered daily already prepared. Her kitchen staff just opened bags and dumped them into the water. So no prep at all by the establishment which does at the very least have responsibility to ensure their customers are not poisoned. Another reviewer with a similar comment shows a photo and you can see how unclean the mussels are. Avoid at all costs. The replacement crab salad was just ok but at least it wasn't charged for. My friends’ chowders were tasteless and nearly all cream with only a few bits of fish. The chips were a joke, frozen and charged at 5 euro for a small portion. Go for a pint with your dog but eat elsewhere. They don't have a clue about food.
