This place is great. Plenty of slopes, well-connected. Suitable for families. I definitely recommend it. I personally love coming back here.
Very popular for a reason as there are numerous interconnected slopes and fast ski lifts. It is often overcrowded unfortunately. Parking lot is free of charge. Enjoy!
Big ski area, ski slopes for everyone, good connection between the slopes and lifts/cable cars, high enough for spring skiing. Unfortunately a lot of people even in working days and too many beginners on red slopes in northern part of resort. Too few restaurants, especially smaller and cozy places are missing.
The ski area offers approximately 100km of mostly gentle slopes and breathtaking panoramic views, perfect for beginners and intermediates. The area usually has a lot of snow, and due to its altitude and position, it is very snow-reliable. It is easily accessible by excellent and very fast roads (from both sides). Near the ski lifts, there are 7 free parking lots. The lift infrastructure is excellent – the ski area is well-connected with mostly new and fast lifts, some even with heated seats, and there are usually minimal or no wait times in lines. There are many huts to choose from; those on the edges of the ski area are usually less crowded and have lower prices. As a downside, I would only mention the poor condition of the slopes in the lower areas where multiple slopes converge at the lifts (this can happen relatively quickly depending on conditions and the number of skiers) and the limited number of longer ski runs for more experienced skiers. All in all, I think the ski area is definitely worth a visit and has a reasonably priced ski pass for what it offers.
A wonderful place full of snow throughout the season, even now when the snow is dwindling throughout the Alps, Obertauern is opened all the way up to late spring. So fun 🍀
A very famous ski resort in Europe, thus expect lots of tourists during weekends and vacation. It's very pricy for accommodation and food in the restaurants just due to its name. Quality of course doesn't keep up with either name or price. The slopes are all well prepared and broad. The length is short though, on average it's a beginner's resort in terms of slope difficulty. Only about 3 pistes are a bit more demanding (7er). Nevertheless recommendable. Keep in mind this is an artificial tourist village only built for skiing during winter. In summer 90% of the village are usually closed.
Easily accessible. The connection of skilifts is a little chaotic, or at least I wasn't always able to read the map properly. We got a free buff with each ticket which was nice :)
Great place to ski, great food options. Lots of sunny days and lots of snow.

This was the second time I had three days of private snowboard training with Clio. I really wanted to take lessons with Clio again this year. She is a great teacher and it is great fun to learn with her. She is competent and funny. The school is also very uncomplicated and friendly. I look forward to seeing Clio again next year.
My son had a wonderful teacher, Sascha for 4 days , who was incredibly passionate, calm, and friendly. He was truly dedicated to teaching and helping my son improve his skills. My son was always happy to spend the entire day with him. I wholeheartedly recommend Sascha
We had an incredible experience with CSA Skischule! The coaches were absolutely amazing—professional, friendly, and so great with the kids. Our children were part of the Kids No Limit group, and they couldn’t have been happier. Every single activity announced in the program was delivered 110% as promised, and the week was filled with fun, learning, and unforgettable moments. The team’s dedication and enthusiasm made it such a special experience. We’re already looking forward to coming back next season! Highly recommended for families!
My daughter’s ski instructor “Der schöne Harald”. taught her so much in 2 hours and she had a lot of fun. Thank you so much! Vici wants to take a lesson with him again next year! Greetings from Miami!
My kids were taught for a week in April by Sascha and Kaspar. Both instructors were great - really enthusiastic but also careful with their teaching, and giving the kids a lot of confidence in their skiing. We really appreciated the effort they both put in.
Another wonderful week in Obertauern!! Our 3 kids had a fantastic time back at Skischule Silvia Grillitsch! They did 5 full days and loved it. A massive shout out to ski instructors Moraje, Jasmin and Sascha!! They were absolutely brilliant and the kids have progressed so much with their skiing over the week. Look forward to coming back next year! 😁
I’m incredibly grateful to have been connected with Balazs Thurzo, who I returned to for my second consecutive ski season in Obertauern. As a beginner who didn’t have the opportunity to learn skiing as a child, taking on this challenge as an adult has been both a physical and mental journey. Balazs’s professionalism and calm mindset made me feel safe and supported, even when I felt stuck or overwhelmed. His guidance helped me push through mental blocks and build confidence on the slopes. While I still feel fear on steeper terrain at this stage, I’ve noticed a huge improvement in my technical skills—far more than I ever expected. I’m truly proud of how far I’ve come. I highly recommend Balazs also if you’re starting your skiing journey later in life. Don’t hesitate—just dare to try and go for it! Thank you again, Balazs, for giving me the skill and confidence that will last a lifetime. See you in the next season! 🙌🏻
We had an incredible experience with this school as they taught our two kids to ski. They were incredibly patient, helped the kids build confidence in their ability, and made the experience so much fun, our kids can't wait to come back. Everyone from the booking staff to the instructors were amazing. Highly recommend!

If you're a Beatles fan or just love music history, the Beatles Denkmal in Obertauern is a fantastic stop. This charming monument pays tribute to the time the legendary band spent in the area while filming Help! in 1965. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Austrian Alps, the statue captures the spirit of the Fab Four in a unique way. The location is picturesque, making it a perfect spot for photos. It's also a great reminder of how the Beatles’ influence extended beyond their music, even into unexpected places like this ski resort. Whether you're passing through Obertauern or planning a dedicated visit, it's definitely worth stopping by. A little piece of music history in a breathtaking setting! 🎶✨
Obertauern is seemingly unexpected to have any connection with the legendary music band but history disproves this. It is said that the locals who doubled or stunned for the real Beatles are still nicknamed after the members of the band. The monument itself is nicely made so have a short stop if passing through the area!
They were there in 1965... I gave 4 stars only, because the writing on the information board is only in german language. If you are Beatles fanatic, then this should be on your bucket list. If you are not much of a fun, but you enjoy a beautiful landscape, then you should visit this place.
Quick stop and quirky photo opportunity!
Spot for Beatles fans - nothing to complain about
Nice place for a photo op
Simply The Beatles. Awesome. You can go there by ski or foot.

Absolutely breathtaking waterfall. There are a few parking spaces at the top side of the road. The area is really wild and a bit dangerous too. You can take the staircase to go downside or make the whole loop
The site is easily accessible from the main road. While the parking area is relatively small—accommodating around 10 vehicles—it typically meets the demand. A charming skywalk offers a scenic vantage point, and a well-maintained walking path leads visitors down to the base of the waterfall. The area is open to the public and completely free to access. This hidden gem offers stunning natural beauty, making it a perfect stop for nature lovers and photographers alike.
Wonderful place which is easy to reach from the main road. But be careful when its rainy, rocks and stairs are very slippery
Majestic waterfall next to the B99 highway. Free to visit. 1) look out for the entrance for the descent via stairs along the B99 highway. Quite a small sign. Some roadside parking spaces available. 2) park just further down at Felseralm. Also roadside parking along B99 but more visible with a bus stop. The route to the waterfall from here takes abit longer. Relatively easy path until you arrive at the rocky descent. May have loose rocks and could be slippery after rain. 3) would say both the above is not too difficult but also possibly not for everyone. There is also a viewing platform from point 1) to see the waterfall beneath you. 4) we also did the alles alm/ gnadenalm family trail and took the detour to this waterfall as many did. It eventually leads to the same paths as point 1 & 2 above. But was a beautiful hike. This round trip took 10km.
A beautiful waterfall, definitely worth seeing. There are 2 ways to reach this place, a short way from the roadside and a beautiful way through the forest. Both ways are easy, but good shoes are recommended because some parts are slippery.
The watefall is extremely beautiful. The track takes 1,5 hours.
Amazing sight, but beware of dangerous climb. Do not miss it though - just remember to be careful. An amazing waterfall that you can walk behind. Water is crystal clear and taste fresh and cool.
Beautiful, stunning, daunting, excellent, great!
