I was actually surprised and impressed. I thought it was just a small park for kids but it was huge! And it was not so crowded. My friends and other family already wanted to visit when they knew we went here. You can feed animals like donkey and goats. Alot of resting place and so much more to see and enjoy.

The Erlebnispark Steinau surprised me alot, as it is very similar to the Tolk-Schau in Schleswig-Holstein, only without the dinosaurs and a little more professional, although a little bit smaller. Here you can spend some time without getting bored and if you have something to barbecue with you, you can stay much longer. At least East Hesse’s biggest amusement park is definitely worth a visit, despite the strange-sounding title.

I visited the Brothers Grimm Museum in Steinau an der Straße and had a really great time. The building itself is beautiful and full of history, and the museum gives a deep insight into the lives and stories of the Grimm brothers. We were lucky to have an English-speaking guide, and she was amazing! There are so many small details in the house that we would've missed without her explanations. Just a heads up: photography and filming inside the house are not allowed, so you really have to take it all in with your eyes. There was also a barn (mentioned by the guide) that we didn’t get to visit, but she described it in detail. All in all, a wonderful experience, highly recommend if you're into fairy tales, German literature, or cultural history. ✨

This is the historic home of the Brothers Grimm. This is a short and quick tour of a home with untold historic significance. Being American I only know them from the fairy tales and folk lore they published. Had zero idea they are credited with so much of the political and language formation of modern Germany and human rights. The staff was kind and took time to tell us tons of stories of the brothers and their life and significance. Awesome stop.

For whom like Grimm Brothers this is one of the greatest place to learn more about them. A lot of memorabilia and historic items.

The Christmas Market in Schloss Steinau is really a nice one. There you can find many handmade products, delicous foods and drink with reasonable price. Apple pancake are made traditionally in a big iron pan. In a nice historic castle with a warm wine in cold weather with good companies, that’s all you need for a wonderful weekend before Christmas. Highly recommend!
