I went to Castellón Alto on Thursday morning with a group of 9 people from a walking group. To arrange the visit I contacted Ana who was incredibly helpful in advising the best time to visit, as there was already a huge group booked in. For English speakers there is a very detailed and well written guide (on sheets of A4 paper). Sometimes, and with prior notice, it might be possible to get an English speaking guide to take you around the site. We had the pleasure of an extremely enthusiastic and passionate Mari Carmen who gave thorough explanations in Spanish, allowing me the opportunity and time to translate into English. The history is absolutely fantastic - Castellón Alto is well worth a visit. I would also recommend driving just a minute or so beyond the car park so that you can also see Castellón Alto from the other side at ground level, to put it into further perspective. As mentioned by other reviewers, access is by a steep ramp so it is impossible for wheelchair users and is also difficult for those with less mobility. Also, there is no shade. Our group each paid 4€ for the visit. There is a combined ticket option if you visit the Museum and the Iberian Necropolis of Tutugi as well. There is a large free car & bus park. It is a five minute drive from the centre of Galera.
This is an incredible historical site and amazing we have it in our little village of Galera. There is also a museum in the village and a Necropolis to visit with a ticket that allows you to enter all three historic sites.
Nice place to visit however tours are only in Spanish. If you don't speak Spanish they will let you go off on your own however there is not a great deal to look at. Bear in mind there is almost no shade and you are very exposed on the side of the mountain so can become unpleasant in the heat.
Simply amazing. Steep climb up but worth it. This is where the mummy was found, it was the oldest until the iceman was found in the Alps
Absolutely fascinating, so much history on our doorstep
Very interesting and beautiful place.
The most amazing place
(Translated by Google) This is probably my favorite place to visit in the entire province of Granada. I've been there three times now, and every time I go I learn something new. The preservation and restoration are incredible, and the visit immerses you in the era. If this were in the UK, there would be hourly buses and a theme park to explain everything, but since we're in Spain, it's not at all famous, whereas what's on offer here is incredible.

A fabulous museum with info on argaric, iberico and recent history of this exciting village. Helpful and professional staff guide you through this fascinating spot. At just 2euros it is very good value for money. Small but tasteful selection of mementos to buy. After visiting the museum you will want to visit the burial site of Tutugi and the very special bronze age site at Castillon Alto. Very highly recommended!!
a must to visit for better understanding castellon alto. the exposition explains also the paleoenvironment and the climate during the bronce-age.
Galera has so much interesting history as the museum and surrounding areas show.
Marvellous - well worth a visit - some important history here
A little bit of histroy but not mind blowing .
Small but interesting
(Translated by Google) Museum not very large and with not many pieces from different periods in the environment. Very friendly and knowledgeable guide of what he explains. Ease of parking and easy access for wheelchairs. The only thing that does not seem good to us and that is why it lowered its score is that, being the Museum so small, it accommodates a large number of people. On our visit there were at least thirty people. I have expressed this to the guide so that they can let the person know and that in these circumstances there should be limited capacity.

Marie Carmen our guide was extremely knowledgeable. Very interesting visit.
Impressive site which has still to be fully explored. It is well worth a visit
Incredible historical value of these digs and preserved excavations. Plenty of car parking space. There is a visitors centre. It is quite a steep walk to the top and you will need to check the visitor centre opening times although you can access the site anytime.
Great views.and experience.
Marvelous - a piece of history on our doorstep
(Translated by Google) Location area very close to the town of Galera. There is ample parking with wheelchair access but not to go up where the burial sites exist. Guided tour with very detailed explanations. At the end of the visit we left with a feeling of abandonment and government decision since there is an enormous wealth of uninvestigated land in the environment, to continue investigating archaeologically and to maintain it by not allowing continuous plundering to continue to exist.
(Translated by Google) Spectacular. The truth is that the province of Granada has very rich and varied archaeological remains, and this is a great example of an Iberian necropolis with huge room structures in a wonderful location. It is absolutely worth visiting (Original) Espectacular.
(Translated by Google) It's worth visiting Galera and the Iberian necropolis, the museum, and the Argaric site for the unique archaeological experience of the area. All three tours are accompanied by local guides, who provide clear and concise explanations. I recommend contacting them in advance and arranging your visits according to their schedule. A small bodega producing world class red and white wines, in the beautiful Altiplano de Granada. Book a tasting tour. Well worth it!
A wonderful modern bodega with wines they produce from the area including red, white and cava. It's possible, with prior arrangement, to have a tour and tasting. A very knowledgeable and friendly family run business.
A recently purpose built building to accommodate this Galera village Bodegas, wine maker. Locally grown grapes making white and red wines. Tour the facility to see how the wines are made and sample afterwards. Parking and toilets are available.
(Translated by Google) Extraordinary wines! It's a shame not to have been able to do one of their tastings... but I still took a few bottles with me. I've tried the Reserva and it's wonderful! Now I want to try them all... magnificent value for money. The guy who helped me was super friendly, he explained to me absolutely the entire composition of each product. It really surprised me. (Original) Vinos extraordinarios! He probado el Reserva y vaya maravilla!

(Translated by Google) Small, family-run winery but they make excellent wines. They carefully guard the designation of origin and have several well-deserved awards for the type of grape used and the quality in the production. The Crianza red wine is highly recommended, and for its price you should not hesitate to stock up for your personal wine cellar. The family that runs it is very friendly. If you visit Galera you have to stop by this winery.
(Translated by Google) A native place and a classic and generational winery, the visit meets the established canons of time and conversation just so as not to exceed it. The owner of the winery explained everything to us exceptionally and gave us wise advice about the wine. The final purchase is wonderful since they have a wide range of wines whose quality-price ratio is unmatched. Delighted with everything.
(Translated by Google) Great winery and phenomenal wine. I met her through my father who introduced me to a wine between red and claret to eat that is really good. I congratulate the owners of these wineries. When I go to Galera I will buy it.
