Lovely family day out. We enjoyed reading the signs and learning a little more about history. The kids loved the museum with the old farming tools and entering the old houses to see how small and basic they were. Also loved seeing the farm animals. The cafe after was a nice treat and the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend the full Irish and the BLT. When we came out the the children loved the walk and play ground area outside too.
We visited the Amenity Park with 5 kids and 4 adults. A beautiful area of sculptures, flowers and a playground. Stars deducted for the cafe. Wanted to get the kids a treat. They had nothing in the cafe, one ice cream and one juice. .. so rather than return empty handed i bought 7 energy/cake balls and 4 bottles of water. €36.60 🫨 This is crazy. Its beside a playground, surely its not that hard to buy in a few snacks and juices.
I visited Dún na Sí Heritage Centre today with a group of students from France, and it was a truly fantastic experience. The staff were warm, welcoming, and went out of their way to make the visit engaging for the students. The heritage park itself is full of life and history — from traditional cottages and crafts to Irish music and storytelling, the students were fascinated and had plenty of opportunities to learn in an interactive way. The outdoor park was also a highlight, with its beautiful walking trails, sculptures, and peaceful natural setting, offering the students time to relax and take in the atmosphere. What impressed me most was how the centre manages to balance cultural heritage with fun, hands-on experiences that appeal to young people. Overall, it was an enriching and memorable day for the group. I highly recommend Dún na Sí for schools, international visitors, and anyone who wants to experience authentic Irish heritage in a warm and welcoming environment.
My daughter found this place for me when I asked her one day (jokingly) to plan a day out for me. She did- and this was the best experience. Dún na Sí Heritage Centre is absolutely amazing - even on a rainy day. The receptionist lady shared so much information and was extremely helpful and friendly, the café (and its staff) is also lovely! :) I will definitely be back. I can only recommend this hidden gem to everyone who is interested in the history and heritage of the Irish people.
Lovely park great heritage center with some very interesting exhibitions. Lovely park and playground. Bring a picnic and you can easily spend a few hours here.
Beautiful and unique park with a mini village, animals, old farm machinery and traditional houses. Lovely walking routes with sculptures and sights, plus a cosy café to relax in.
Lovely heritage park. Great place to take a stroll and also do a historical tour through a very neat museum. Makes for a nice outing if you are visiting the midlands. Lovely grounds and play area for kids. There are toilets on site and there is a nice place to grab a bite to eat. The place is very close to the old rail trail so it is a good stopping point for cyclists to enjoy a bit of history and have a break from the saddle. Definitely worth a visit.
It‘s a nice place to take a little walk through the sculpture park (no entry fee, just 2 € for parking) and if desired visit the heritage park. It‘s not huge but you can see a lot of historic machinery, buildings and more sculptures. I wouldn’t make an extra trip there, but on the way from Dublin to the west coast it is very handy to stop there.

Weekend lunch Dropped in last Saturday with friends for a late lunch. Started with drinks while perusing the Lunch options. The Menu was varied and offered full range from sandwiches, to salads, to roast dinner. Between us, we ordered the Roast Turkey and the veggie burger with salad and chips. The chips were chunky with a flowery potato inside; 🥰 Finished off with coffee and a shared ice cream dessert as we were all too full to sample our own!
Presentation of the course was excellent. Best Greens I have ever putted on in March in Ireland. Well worth a visit. A hidden gem..
Very well maintained regular course. 👏
Never played before lovely course some great holes greens were superb for time of year definitely goin back in the summer very enjoyable
While driving through Moate we saw a bill board advertising the Golf Club. It stated that outsiders were welcome to use the restaurant. We weren't disappointed. It was a fantastic Sunday lunch. Great variety and piping hot. Lovely friendly staff. Drop in and see for yourself.
Maturing course suitable for all levels. Always a friendly welcome and lovely restaurant too.
Always look forward to stopping here for lunch after cycling on the Greenway. They never disappoint. Food is delicious, reasonably priced and staff are lovely. Thank you 😊

Love this pub! Suitable for all age groups and likes. The atmosphere is always great and if it’s a quiet time you’re after then there are plenty of nooks to sit in. Special shout out to Alan who makes the best cocktails especially a French Martini 🍸 🤤
Love Peader's Bar, staff and customers are always so friendly! Have stopped here twice over the years mainly because they are pet friendly and have a massive beer garden out the back. Can't wait to come back.

Great library and service. The staff here is really helpful. They are always ready to help.
Having recently moved to Moate - one of the first things I did was register with the library. I found the atmosphere of the building to be so relaxing... it was delightful. The two ladies looking after the premises (and me) on that day we’re so helpful! When they heard I was new to town ... I was told of the building’s amazing history and shown the glass floor where the old jail was visible. Their enthusiasm was very contagious ... I was back in to visit the museum within a few days! Books! I found a plentiful supply of my favorite authors on the shelves and was assured that if there was a book I required - needed or wanted then they would do everything they could to get it for me. A delightful place to visit! Wonderful staff! Historically interesting building. Go! Read a book! There is nothing like turning pages and getting lost in a magical tale!
Always very friendly and helpful. A pleasure to visit.
Great staff that are always ready to help.

Very nice and welcoming place with our motorcycles after traveling two hours under incessant rain. we looked at the furniture and immediately left to keep everything from getting wet. The owner instead of using the stove The owner was very kind, we were looking for meat. We have the stew with delicious fries and spent nonsense. Thanks again for the hospitality
The staff are wonderful. Our waitress "Corina" was an absolute joy. She smiled, she had the banter with us and made our visit a joy. The food was good, plenty of it. Only problem my food "chicken, chips and coleslaw was served on a piece of wood. This meant, when I added vinegar it went everywhere. Would have preferred a plate. All in all we will go again. Good experience
First visit to The Auld Shebeen today for Sunday lunch. What a lovely experience, 100% family friendly. Delicious wholesome food from starter to desert. We had beef and lamb for mains, both beautifully tender, and a sizzling chocolate brownie finished things very nicely. Excellent staff, so friendly, thank you Mary, and cosy , warm atmosphere. Highly recommend, will definitely visit again and again 😀😀
If I could give The Auld Shebeen six stars I would. Best customer service I think I have ever experienced - the staff were absolutely lovely and so thoughtful, even willing to make custom sauces to accompany my friend's chicken wings. The food was excellent and portions very large.
Food great, it's probably the best experience staff wise I've encountered for a long time, well done to all concerned. Easy know it's a good place by the level of people there for food, spotless too. Definitely will be back. Great experience with a family of 5.
It was very quiet in the place for 12 o'clock in the day, lovely fire and the fire was well stocked up and well lit. The menu outside could seriously do with with some blackboard paint so you can write the menu better, very friendly staff and little bit pricey but the food is diffently fresh and worth going back for, nice decor to look at when your waiting a casual 10-15 mins for food. The specials could be a little bit more obvious when you read the menu. P.s love the seasoning for the fries !
Having visited The Auld Shebeen on a few occasions while staying in Moate it never fails to impress me. The food is amazing always cooked to perfection and so much of it means you will never leave there hungry. My favourite is the home made deserts which are to die for as most places buy in deserts which disappoint me regularly. But its the combination of the fantastic staff and service which a sign of great management that makes every visit a memorable one, looking forward to my next visit already.
I enjoyed the steak special .cooked medium as requested done perfectly. onion rings very light . Bob had pasta .he enjoyed it also. Sizzeling brownie was wonderful. Wait staff were excellent as very attentive
