Perfect beach near Kardamyli. We were here end June so maybe not yet too busy & we also came a bit early. Beautiful soft sand, crystal clear waters, loved swimming here. 3 different umbrella concessions & we felt that €50 for front row not bad considering prices elsewhere at popular beaches on the mainland and on the islands in Greece. Several food options, good enough for beach location. Enjoyed our day in the beach & came back again with friends.
perfect for kids, the beach is full of sand and always clean, but it's better if u just have ur own umbrellas, since they are a bit pricey (30€)
What a wonderful place to visit. This is a hidden gem, with a lot to offer: . Sandy beach, clean, great food , drinks and families activities.. I highly recommend 👌 this ⛱️.
The beach is absolutely wonderful and truly picturesque. The golden sand is soft and clean, and the water is crystal clear with beautiful shades of blue that make it perfect for swimming or just relaxing by the shore. The surrounding scenery adds to the charm, with even some sunbeds in caves. The facilities were well-maintained, with available sunbeds, umbrellas, and a few nearby cafés and beach bars offering refreshing drinks and snacks. While I did notice that the prices were a bit higher than expected, it wasn’t a big issue for me considering the overall quality of the experience. Overall, it's a beach I would definitely recommend and visit again.
Great beach. One of my favorite in Mani Peninsula. Really smooth sand, clear water, great sunbeds and with good restaurants in the back. They also have showers and changing cabin. I strongly recommend the restaurant: Almyriki Taverna
Great beach. But too many sunbeds that you can not reach the sea. Almost no place to put your own towels.
One of the best beaches nearby, maybe the best, few free spaces to stay but clear and shallow waters nice!
amazing beach, especially in November, when it‘s not crowdy.

Just did my OWD course at dive code and it was by far one of the best activities of my vacation. My dive master was Stavros but I also did 2 of my 4 open water dives with George as well and I can say with confidence that they were both not only professional but connect with you on a personal level where you are comfortable, aren’t afraid to make mistakes, or ask for help. Would recommend Dive Code 11 out of 10 times.
I spent my vacation in Stoupa with family and friends and happened to visit this wonderful diving center. Before I knew it, I had practically “moved in”! It became my vacation paradise. This is a highly professional center with genuinely kind and welcoming people. A special thank you to Aristides! He is an amazing instructor who taught me so much in a respectful, methodical way, always emphasizing safety. Big thanks also to Captain Dimitris – diving with you was truly a pleasure!
I organised a family dive for my children who had never dived before . Our instructors were extraordinarily patient and kind. The place is well organised and professional, the shower and toilet very clean and they have convenient lockers. I hope it is as good a place to work at that a place to dive. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and were very patient . The equipment is new and well maintained. We highly recommend this centre, and I have tried a few around the world .
My son and I did three shore dives with George and the team at Dive Code. What a smashing experience. Everyone there is so welcoming and friendly it’s hard not to feel immediately at home. All instruction was impeccable which in turn was confidence inspiring for beginners like ourselves. And to top it off we had the pleasure of seeing a whopping big turtle whilst diving out in the bay. After each dive we were grinning ear to ear and this time even more so!
I’ve dived in the Caribbean, the Indian Ocean and the Adriatic. By some way Dive Code is staffed by the most patient, safe and friendly dive masters I’ve ever come across. If you’re a first timer, or clocking up your 100th dive you’re in incredibly knowledgeable, safe and friendly hands. Simply cannot recommend enough.
I did my next PADI certificate with Dive Code and couldn't have asked for a better experience. The instructors — Aris, Dmitri, George, Nadia, and Stavros — were all amazing: professional, patient, and super supportive throughout the course. The whole team made me feel safe and confident every step of the way. Great atmosphere, well-organized dives, and top-notch equipment. Highly recommended!
I did a double dive from a boat and it was an absolutely amazing experience! Everyone at the dive center was not only professional but also incredibly welcoming and kind. They explained everything clearly and thoroughly, which made me feel completely safe and taken care of throughout the entire experience 😊 Special thanks to Dimitris, who I was diving with – his experience and deep knowledge of the area allowed me to explore nearby caves, which was a truly unforgettable adventure. I had some difficulty with my ear at one point, but thanks to his calm support and expertise, I was able to continue without any problems. I really appreciated his guidance. I also want to mention another instructor (unfortunately I didn’t catch his name) who took the time to help me choose all the right equipment and offered lots of practical tips and suggestions. What really stood out to me was his genuine friendliness and the clear intention to make sure I had the best possible experience. I truly felt that everyone there cared not just about safety, but also about helping me enjoy the dive and even learn something new along the way. Highly recommend this dive center – can’t wait to come back and dive with them again!
We did two boat dives and two shore dives with Dive Code. It was a fantastic experience. Everyone at the centre, including captain Dimitris, our dive leader Aris, Nadja, and apprentice dive master Finn, were super friendly and very professional. Aris took great care to go through all safety checks and to explain procedures and dive plans clearly. We felt in completely safe hands. All equipment was in excellent condition. The dive sites offer few spectacular sea creature sightings, but they make up for it with fascinating landscapes and the unique cold fresh water springs off Kalogria Beach. We will definitely come dive with Dive Code again.

Monastery

Breathtaking Monastery on Taygetos mountain range where I was baptized. Dedicated to “Our Lady of Healing”, the feast day commemorating the birth of the Virgin Mary occurs annually on September 8th. Views of the Laconian & Messinian Gulf do not disappoint. The monastery can be hiked via E4 from Gythio and Mani villages such as Kastania, situated just below.
An incredible experience, especially thanks to Dimitrios, the keeper of the monastery. He welcomed us, offering lokumis and telling us the history of the place. Avoid the shortest street recommended by Google maps from Kalamata/kardamily/stoupa, as it's probably supposed for 4x4 cars.
The Panagia Giatrissa Monastery dedicated to the Virgin Mary is located on the Taygetos mountain range in the Mani Peninsula of the Peloponnese region of Greece. Dedicated to “Our Lady of Healing”, the Monastery was declared a holy shrine of the Greek Orthodox Church in 1972. The Monastery celebrates its feast day in September 8.
A Wonderful Excursion! But go INSIDE to really appreciate this site! If you are in the area near Kalamata (Messinia), or Gythio (Laconia), or Aeropoli and the Caves of Diros (Mani), then an evening trip to this site to view the sunset (or a morning trip for the sunrise) is a wonderful excursion! The views are fantastic, and you will pass through villages that take you back in time (even as they are rapidly modernizing). One reviewer spoke ignorantly about the philanthropist who made the renovation of this site possible. Before the renovation, this site was a disgrace: featuring an ill kept chapel with trash heaps and goat dung encroaching on its doorstep. He (Vageli Arfanis whose family is from the village of Kastania, just below) donated a huge percentage of his net worth and many hundreds of hours of personal time to enable the renovation. This philanthropist suffered a terrible tragedy in the untimely death of his only daughter, shortly after she gave birth to twins. His work to renovate the monastery began before her death, but he dedicated the amazing courtyard to her memory. There is a plaque in her honor by its entrance (see photos). It records her name “Aryiris Arfani-Debono,” who according to a friend “shone sunlight with her smile,” in Greek: Γελουσε Φως. An artist designed the plaque in her memory emphasizing this theme. Some have commented negatively on the exterior styling of this site. Yes, from below it reminds one of a fortress more than a monastery; it is not dainty. But go inside and explore within the walls, and you will be find much elegance of design, breathtaking parapet walkways, and surprisingly subtle quiet corners and internal garden spots. Then there is the church itself, which is also not much to look out from the outside, but inside it is rather beautiful, impeccably maintained, and filled with ornate iconography. The site is usually almost devoid of people - and very quiet. Little does one realize that each year, on September 8th, the monastery’s feast day, the site overflows with visitors. The crowds begin arriving the evening before, taking buses, cars and hundreds simply walking through the night to arrive for the services and festivities. The monastery is now better able to accommodate (to the degree that it can!) the mass of humanity that descends upon it each year. This is the not the most ancient of monasteries, nor the most remote, nor the largest or most impressive. It is however beautiful and awe inspiring in its own unique way. BTW: A better transliteration of the name of this monastery is "Moni Panayia Yiatrissa." The G’s (which in Greek are gammas,) actually make a Y sound. The Greek word “Panayia” is a title for Jesus’ mother, Mary. It literally means “All Holy.” So in English, we’d call this place something like "the Monastery of the Virgin-Mother Healer," or more literally, “the Monastery of the All Holy (Mother Mary) Healer."
The view from this place is unbelievable! It feels like you are in the top of the world and you can see the view of both sides of the mountain towards Githio and Kardamili. Breathtaking experience, totally recommend it! Picturesque villages on the way to the monastery from Githio. The road from Githio is not the best but it is ok for a mountain road, narrow but all the road is asphalt). The road from the other side(Stoupa or Kardamili) isn't recommended since from tbe village Milia until the monastery is pretty bad, not asphalt and maybe requires a jeep.
One of the most Holy places in Greece. The grounds are protected by fortified walls they feature breathtaking views. The church is on a peak that provides 360 degree views of Gythion and Kalamata. The E4 trail will lead you straight to the church if you are up to a hike
Over the ages, the condition of the monastery has ebbed and flowed with the tide of wars, occupations, famines, and faltering or flourishing economies. Today, the monastery complex includes a moderately sized, ornately decorated, Byzantine-style church, and a second small but quaint chapel. Residential quarters for overnight visitors surround the interior courtyard. Outside, the monastery rewards visitors with scenic 360 degree vistas, made accessible by an impressive rampart that encircles the complex and enables visitors to easily walk the site perimeter
If you come from the Messinian side, avoid the road from Milea (the shortest way according to gmaps). It's actually not a road, for 4x4 only.

A wonderful hotel with everything you need and at a fantastic location! Only a 5 minute walk from Kalogria beach and 8 minutes from Stoupa beach. There is a big supermarket right below the complex, which facilitates longer stays at these fully equipped rooms. A family run business with super attentive staff, we loved staying here and highly recommended this hotel to anyone looking to spend a wonderful holiday at one of Greece's most wonderful regions.
We have stayed here twice now. We never usually return to an accommodation overseas. It is so peaceful and relaxing whether that be by the pool or on your balcony. It’s spotlessly clean everywhere. The staff are very efficient and friendly. No rush for sunbeds, a couple of British tourists tried to reserve but soon seemed to realise it wasn’t necessary. The grounds are beautiful and if up the top so are the views. Feels like home.
We arrived to a friendly and helpful reception, and that theme stayed with us throughout our holiday here. The room was well presented and we had a lovely sea view. Nearby, there is a supermarket with another slightly larger one 10 minutes stroll further on. The higher up bungalows do require a bit of fitness to get to due to the hill it is situated on. Stoupa seafront is approximately 15 minutes stroll. There you will find a great selection of bars and restaurants. If you don't want to eat at Kolokotronis. In the cooler weather, it is a great base to use for some walking/hiking of the local countryside and hills.
We stayed here as a family (2 adults and 2 kids) for three nights in July. Very nice staff members in reception and restaurant. We liked the hotel area and the little “villas” that you stayed at. The decor in the room could be upgraded but everything was complete and clean. They did miss to clean our room one day and the AC could need a replacement (took almost two hours to get the room cooled). The pool area was very nice and clean and the restaurant as well. We hade breakfast included and it was a small but nice one. We could absolutely see ourselves return to Stoupa and choose this hotel again!
We have stayed at the Kolokotronis hotel many times, and have always had a wonderful experience. The rooms are great and reasonably priced, the pool is beautiful, the food and service are excellent. But the best part is the friendliness of the staff: Maria, Nikos and her team make guests feel welcome and cared for. Highly recommend!!
Thank you for a truly wonderful stay at Hotel Kolokotronis. We spent four nights there with our two young children, and it genuinely felt like a little slice of paradise. The hotel and its surroundings are a hidden gem—peaceful, authentic, and refreshingly free from crowds. Just a short 7-minute walk from the breathtaking Kalogria Beach, the location couldn’t be more perfect. Each apartment offers stunning views of the sea, hills, and surrounding mountains—picture-postcard scenery that made every moment feel special. The accommodation itself is of a high standard: spotlessly clean, well-equipped, and beautifully maintained. The entire staff was welcoming and helpful throughout our stay, with special thanks to Andriana and Thanasis, who went out of their way to ensure everything was perfect for us. The swimming pool area was a peaceful haven, complete with a smaller pool for children—no stress, no rush for sunbeds, just a relaxed, 5-star atmosphere. Breakfast was delicious, with a good variety of options, and we enjoyed two excellent dinners at the on-site restaurant. The food was of very high quality, thoughtfully prepared with options for children and vegetarians, and the staff were happy to accommodate special requests- out of the three local restaurants we tried the hotel was definitely our favourite. One of the highlights of our trip was a boat excursion with Kardamili Boats—an unforgettable experience we highly recommend. We left feeling refreshed, grateful, and already looking forward to returning. Thank you again for an unforgettable stay.
Kolokotronis Hotel is an absolute gem. Clean, spacious maisonettes. A great pool and pool bar/restaurant. Breakfast is lovely, there's a supermarket just in front, and it is a 5 minute walk down to Kalogria beach with it's beautiful sand and taverns. Maria is a delight to deal with and runs a marvellous hotel. Highly recommend!
The perfect location which is quiet and a 7 minute walk to the smaller sandy beach in Stoupa. We had a double bed, studio apartment and, as you can see from the photos, it was amazing. A wifi hotspot, just for us, sea views and a great pool and bar area. The AC was perfe t and there is breakfast, if you want, but the beach is full of restaurants. Outside of Athens, you can expect amazing value for money eating. The only two things were that I had a cold shower the first morning but it heated up just when I got out of it. No problem. And the breakfast buffet didn't have the usual choice of eggs and fresh larger croissants. Again, not a big problem. I think most guests make their own breakfast in the ample kitchens. Overall, a peaceful, clean and well located apartment complex.

I've hired scooters in Greece for over 30 years and nowhere comes close to this place in terms of quality and service. All the bikes and helmets are new or in immaculate condition. The hire office is also spotlessy clean. Topping it all was Olympia, who couldn't have been more helpful and charming. Don't go anywhere else!
All your motorised two-wheeled needs are covered here. Friendly service and good daily rates make the choice even easier.
Had the time of our lives hiring a bike from here. So easy to ride and perfect for getting around. May seem like an advertisement but I am a genuine, frequent visitor yo the area and cannot praise this company enough.
Awesome, can't speak highly enough of them, always great and friendly service, been renting scooters from them for 10 years and the only time I ever had a worry about a scooter they changed it immediately and I found out later that there was nothing wrong but a dry bearing, will be renting again when I go back 😃
Very friendly and uncomplicated rental for a perfect scooter. We will come back for sure
Good service, good scooters and lovely people who give good tips. Eric
