Restored Carthusian monastery in a peaceful setting, with a shop selling handicrafts made by monks.

Restored monastery in a very secluded chestnut forest. Difficult drive on a tiny mountain road to access the monastery, a good walk from the parking lot, but it's worth all the effort. For a fee you can visit part of the monastery, and the view is just spectacular.
This is an amazing refurnished monastery. It is beautifully cool inside. I rode to it on my bike from Collobrières - a lovely ride of around an hour and a half (less if you're fitter than me!). The return journey downhill was lovely.
Magical place. This monastery is really in the middle of nowhere. Don't be put off by the twisty roads that lead you there. Amazing, how in former times, people would build such a massive construction so far from anything else, they were really searching silence and seclusion. Equally amazing, how after a long time of neglect and decline, another generation resurrected the monastery from ruins and once again filled it with life. Worldly as well as spiritual. Take your time when you visit, this is not a place to rush through.
A place of profound peace and spiritual beauty. Monastère Notre-Dame de Clémence de La Verne is a remarkable sanctuary nestled in the heart of the Maures forest. Surrounded by untouched nature, the monastery offers a deeply serene and contemplative atmosphere that invites silence and reflection. The restored architecture is both impressive and respectful of its history, blending harmoniously with the natural landscape. Visitors are welcomed with quiet dignity, and the presence of the monastic community adds a sense of timeless grace to the entire experience. The small boutique offers handmade items and monastic products, allowing guests to take home a meaningful reminder of this sacred place. An unforgettable visit — both spiritually and culturally enriching.
Beautiful place! Definitely worth a visit - even if it’s a detour.
You have to do that! Most of people who visit the Gulf of Saint-Tropez miss historical sites as La Verne and others in the surrounding area.
Unique, wonderfully redone classic French province monastery
Awesome place to visit. The road is narrow but in a good condition and paved to the top. I recommend traveling to Croix d‘Anselme and then to the Monastery. Otherwise, the navigation may try to take the D214 for the majority of the journey to the top but that road is not fully paved on one section. The D14 to Croix d‘Anselme and the D214 to the top is better.

Interesting chestnut-dedicated confectionary place to drop by if you're nearby :) The ice cream was sooooo good though it was January 😂
Best and absolutely delicious Marrons Ice Cream and all types of marron specialties.
Obviously a slightly touristy experience but also a magical one. The shop and small museum are quiet and relaxing and there is everything on the subject of chestnuts. The ice cream is a favourite and probably the best in the world. Very unique product. The village itself feels slightly surreal like a film set which adds to the atmosphere. Worth a visit on the winding roads leading to the village.
An absolute must-visit for anyone who loves chestnuts and artisanal sweets! The quality of the products is outstanding — especially the marrons glacés and chestnut cream. Friendly staff, lovely atmosphere, and delicious local flavors. A real treat! 🌰🍬😊
Very tasty preserves, loved everything we bought.
Very good to see the old building.
Truly a treat for any chestnuts and marron glacé lover.
Decent place but products are very expensive! I bought the marrons glaçées in Paris from one of the most famous patisseries and they were cheaper than the ones here. We tried the marrons glaçée ice cream and it was good and fairly priced. I recommend the one with cognac.

We didn't see the time passing. Do not hesitate to call before because the visit is in principle by appointment. everything about this place is absolutely amazing. The chestnut festival is the best thing since sliced bread, I love everything about it and will recommend it to all my friends. (If only I had any, which I don't because I am a compulsive liar.)
Collobrières is an absolute gem in the heart of the Maures! Charming streets, chestnut trees, local artisan shops, and delicious Provençal food — all surrounded by beautiful forested hills. The village has an authentic, welcoming vibe that makes you want to slow down and stay a while. The Tourist Office is a great starting point: helpful staff, maps, tips, and a warm smile to guide you through this delightful corner of Provence. A must-visit if you love discovering hidden treasures!
Went to the annual chestnut festival and participated in the tour of a chestnut farm “Chataignerai Godissard”. The festival is nice - although it is questionable if it is worth negotiating the traffic jams, which are on both entries to the village (same as last year). The tour of the Chataignerai was not worth 8 Euro/pax…. At least 30 participants, that is 240 Euro for rather nothing much to see other than a few chestnut trees. The guide tells a lot of info though, but really the price / quality ratio is not justified. The office du tourisme is of great help: they called us at least 3 times to make sure we would show up for our booking. Piet
(Translated by Google) A nice stroll through the alleys of the village and an obligatory break at the Confiserie Azureenne, don't miss tasting the chestnut ice cream..... (Original) Une balade sympa dans les ruelles du village et une pause obligatoire à la Confiserie Azureenne,ne ratez pas la dégustation de la glace aux marrons.....

(Translated by Google) Welcome tourist office 😀. Collobrières. It had been about thirty years since I had not returned for the chestnut festival..... I came at the beginning of August by bike and had a pleasant time. I returned on the 21st for the festival. Disappointed, let me explain: from Pierrefeu to the so-called €2 parking lot? 45 minutes. Shuttles are out of the question, it's better to go there on foot, it's quicker. There are too many exhibitors in the streets... We can't move around normally, we queue everywhere, more from fatigue than pleasure. We retired to the top of the town and did the different routes, which were still just as pleasant. I really like Collobrières but for me I think that the organization of this party needs to be rethought and I haven't talked about the departure being worse than the arrival!!!! I will come back on a holiday to compare.... but in the meantime too 😉.
