Oldest stone church in Estonia. Close to the main road and worth a detour.
Have wanted to visit here since I was very young g. My father spoke of places and for the first time in my life- I am able to go and find them, here in his fatherland- Estonia. 🇪🇪 I used to talk to people about these places and they just didn’t quite understand- these days the name of this church and village is much more popular than it was when I was a child, dreaming of it. Valjala kurik is the oldest stone church in Estonia. It began in the choir room, which is perfectly sensible as Estonians are known for having songbird spirits! ✨🕊️🦢🦅✨ They were working on it- so couldn’t go inside- but this place is so special and awesome that I’ll travel back another 7,000 miles to visit and pray there again. ‘til Valjala Warriors! 💋😎💝
Gorgeous hulk of a medieval church started in the 13th century. Beautiful location.
A stunning, large church — definitely worth a visit
Quite interesting church, inside has an ancient-like looks :)
Great gothic church. Information is a bit lacking tho.
Good views, historical place.
Amazing ancient church, mystic aura.

Fortress

Road to the fort is decent, there is a parking space in front of the hill. There's plenty of space to take a walk, a good place to stop for a rest. As for the fort, it's not too impressive, but it's quite interesting. I would suggest to visit it if you have 15-20min to spare.
Interesting and well kept remains of a fort. Because it has not grown over completely you can easily see the formation of the entire fort, place of a well etc. There is a good parking place, disc golf course next to it and nice nature. Nearby by the road you can find a nicely kept runestone and a translated text of it on a sign.
Interesting and beautiful location. There's a nearby fireplace and of course the main hill fort.
Verry atractive and nice place recommended especially with children! It would have been nicer to vistit is during the summer wether.
No much to see. But an interesting history.
I think it might be mostly interesting for locals to understand the roots. But if you are into Estonian history and to understand how the independence can be so fragile then visit and think about it.
So, good place where to tent. Fireplace and firewood too. But no toilets.
