(Translated by Google) It is highly recommended to make a brief stop to visit this Church, even from the outside, sit at its feet and enjoy the imposing mountains that surround it. It is more beautiful because of the surroundings. But it's worth enjoying it!!
(Translated by Google) Worth a visit: there's a woman in charge who gives a very entertaining talk about the church's history. If you're passing by, it's worth stopping by. (Translated by Google) A very enjoyable guided tour. The church's layout is somewhat unusual, with the altar in the center. The carving of the Virgin nursing the Child is very beautiful, with a peaceful expression. The separate tower was built a few centuries after the church, although no one would guess. It's part of the Camino de Santiago Lebaniego. I recommend checking in advance to see what time the tours are.

(Translated by Google) A rectangular church measuring 16 m long by 12 m wide, it has three naves ending in three parallel apses. The central nave is wider and taller than the side naves, all three covered by barrel vaults and separated by pillars and attached columns designed to receive the transverse and former arches. The pillars, topped by Corinthian capitals, have double collars and support horseshoe arches, except for the apse area, where the arches are semicircular. The triumphal arch is framed by a traditional Muslim alfiz. The altar front is preserved, carved from a prismatic sandstone block, featuring richly engraved and sometimes painted decoration. The central motif is a double circle with a swastika, surrounded by six circles with geometric motifs. On the exterior, the cornices contain modillions richly decorated with swastikas and six-petaled flowers. The walls are masonry with ashlars at the corners. The building has an attached portico and a Baroque-era sacristy. A free-standing tower, erected at the end of the last century with the dubious intention of embellishing the monument, completes the complex. The Cartulary of the Monastery of Santo Toribio preserves a document, dated 925, which records the legend that the Counts of Liébana ordered the church to be built with the intention of transferring the remains of Saint Toribio to it. However, when the saint's remains were transferred, both counts went blind, and they did not regain their sight until the body was returned to the Monastery of Santo Toribio.

A lot of information about the nature and culture of the region of Picos de Europa, excellent exposition, free entrance
Really interesting exhibition on the ground floor with English translations for most of it. Great video about rural life. Not much upstairs but didn't watch the 18 minute video. And the man at the desk spoke excellent English and was really helpful. Free entry and free parking
Great space for a visitors centre but a lot of the exhibits are looking a bit run down and need of some tlc
Some basic information about geology, fauna and flora of Picos. Unfortunately it’s a rather sad experience. Half of the installations is off or not working properly. Place have problems with maintenance. Imposing building with very little inside. Lost potential. Pity
Good background to the area. Text in both Spanish and English. Not busy when I was there in the early morning. It is free to enter.
Found it more useful as a tourist information centre. The 3d maps are super useful in helping you understand the layout of Picos de Europa. The gentleman at reception was friendly and helpful. I think you need max 1 hour, worth your time.
Fantastic experience. Surprisingly it’s all for free. The whole place is wheelchair friendly, everything on the displays are written in Spanish and English. You follow the arrows from section to section. There is a slope up to the cinema, which shows an 18 minute film of the changing seasons and habitat of the mountains. Would recommend to anyone.
Excellent information centre. Allow time to look at the displays

(Translated by Google) Peña Sagra is a massif with a long ridge that culminates in Cuernón (2,017 meters) but Pico Parais should not be underestimated. From the entire edge you can see the Cantabrian Sea on one side and the Picos de Europa on the other. A summit that can be reached very well from Cahecho. In the Fuente de Somave apartments there are references to make the ascension. And in winter their skiing is sustained and fun (Original) Peña Sagra es un macizo con una larga arista que culmina en el Cuernón (2.017 mts.) pero no hay que despreciar el Pico Parais.
