Not a stand alone attraction, however, definitely worth a quick, visit, heading toward the burren, The place was also home to the infamous red Mary, which has a very interesting and gruesome story attached to it.
We stumbled across Leamaneh Castle on our way between Caherconnell Ring Fort and Kilmacduagh Abbey, and the dark skies that day seemed to fit perfectly with its haunting folklore. The ruin is tied to the story of Red Mary O’Brien, a fiery noblewoman said to have married many times (sometimes by choice, sometimes by force), and remembered in local legend as both powerful and ruthless. Some tales even claim she disposed of husbands who didn’t suit her, though history suggests she was a strong political figure navigating brutal times. Standing by the roadside and seeing the tall, broken walls against the Burren landscape, it’s easy to imagine how such stories grew around this striking place.
Very impressive 15th. century tower with 17th. century house attached. Easy access but lands surrounding castle may have livestock at times. Parking nearby at junction but limited.
Gorgeous! Saw it driving and stopped for photos. It was closed, but wish we could have gone in!!
Unfortunately you can't go in, just look from the road but impressive ruin. Worth a picture stop
Better looking from the outside than from the inside. It's just an empty shell now. It's a national monument, but you cannot access it, it's on someone's farm.
Beautiful castle ruins with amazing history and folklore attached.
Must see ruins. You may see Molly and her newborn Oscar. Parking is limited
