Excellent aquarium! Wonderful place to visit if you like sea creatures and learning about the local aquatic environment. The place is incredibly well maintained and looked after too which was great to see. It is by no means a short trip, and thank goodness for all the seating! Some of said seats are right in front of the best of the larger tanks, mesmerizing to observe... There is also a restaurant at the aquarium which I fully recommend for authentic Cretan food (the beef giouvetsi was amazing). My wife thoroughly enjoyed her meal too, I do not remember the dish, but it was a vegetarian one. Lastly, I would recommend all three of the virtual reality shows. They are very interactive and hugely enjoyable. Whatever you do, end on "The Abyss", you'll see why. The staff were so accommodating and friendly.. Enjoy! 10/10
After reading the reviews, I didn’t want to go but changed my mind the last minute and it was absolutely worth it!!! I’ve been to many aquariums, and it’s one of the nicest and cosiest. Calming music, great light, variety of fish. Spent 1 hour. There are 62 tanks which is a lot!!! 👌😍
This was the fifth aquarium I've visited, so perhaps my expectations were too high. Unfortunately, the venue was very crowded with many children who were noisy and constantly tapping on the glass, despite clear signs asking for quiet. Staff were only present at the ticket counters, so there was no supervision within the exhibition itself to enforce the rules. The layout of the tour was also disappointing. The main attraction, the largest tank, is located right at the beginning. In my experience, you expect a spectacular finale, but here the climax comes far too soon. The digital information panels were another downside. The touch screens often lagged, and with only one screen serving several tanks, it was very impractical in the crowds. The gift shop was also unremarkable and felt just like a typical Cretan souvenir stall. However, there were some positives. The animals themselves are beautiful, and photos don't do them justice. I also learned a couple of interesting facts, for instance about the turtle nesting grounds on Crete, and that ammonite fossils were apparently used for discus throwing in the ancient Olympics. I was debating between giving 3 or 4 stars. However, after considering all the shortcomings and the €12 adult ticket price, I feel that 3 stars is the more appropriate rating.
We went with 2 small kids- the 2y didn’t find any point there but the 5y enjoyed it. I personally enjoyed looking at the fish types and felt most are very different and interesting to look at. The place needs a little maintenance- feel a bit old It’s not that big and didn’t spend a lot of time inside. We were staying at a hotel near by, not sure it worth a long ride.
The aquarium is really nice, well maintained and there is a large variety of fish and sea animals 😍 First time I see sharks and tiny starfish 🥹 I also appreciated the section about biodiversity and ocean pollution. It is informative for kids and can be a good opportunity for a pollution awareness discussion with them. Good to know: -Opening hour is @10AM, make sure you buy your ticket online so you can avoid waiting in line. Otherwise, arrive really early as there can be a lot of families and tours scheduled for visits. We bought the tickets on the spot but had to wait around 20 mins in line to get them. -There is a large parking space outside the aquarium but places can go quickly if you arrive later than noon. -There is a large beach coast right in front of the aquarium so you can have a walk or a swim after your visit. -There are clean toilets inside and a space where you can have snacks and hot/cold drinks. Happy visit! 💫🤗
Third time coming here over the years and not once been disappointed. Lovely aquarium. Very informative and very updated now they have the new touch screens. The fish are well looked after. Its a lovely place. The tanks are impressive and just outstandingly clean. Will visit again.
Spectacular, just check out the pictures. We decided to spend the time before our flight here and it was a great decision. So many animals to see, for a great price. In total we spent about 90 minutes here and another half hour outside at the terrace under the trees.
We liked it! It's quite big. You can buy tickets online before, and get a timeslot to enter. Recommended to get online tickets and go when it's not so busy.

I loved it!!! Really brought out my inner child. I was extremely impressed with what was available for the location's standards. Overall a super fun experience with very sweet staff. The presentations were lovely and really informative. We went August 10th, which was my birthday, and although I was a grownup the lovely staff made it really special!! I didn't realize what the man in the reception did for us so I never got to thank him. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience and your sweet gift, if you see this!! Wonderful place especially for children and/or nerds like myself. ❤️ Extra bonus points for having vegan options at the restaurant!!! 🍴
It's ok this place, I wouldn't say it's the best. Again, we got there for opening time, was a nice staff member at the reception desk, very helpful. Amazing animatronics on the dinosaurs & facts with everyone you see around the park. Gift shop wasn't all that great could've had a lot more in there if I'm honest, but the food there was good. More so for kids so if you have a child, go there for a good day out.
We had a truly delightful experience. Our children, aged 4 and 6, were initially a bit apprehensive, but they quickly found their confidence and enthusiastically explored the park. While not expansive, the park is thoughtfully laid out and perfectly sized for younger visitors. The Dinosaur Hospital was a charming and educational highlight, sparking curiosity and smiles in equal measure. The science activity, offered for a modest additional fee of €5, was well worth it—engaging, hands-on, and informative. The entire venue is clean, well-maintained, and easily accessible. We also sampled the VR experience, which was enjoyable, though not essential to the overall visit. Though the park isn’t vast, it delivered a memorable day out filled with fun and learning—an excellent value for money and a hit with the whole family.
Took my 9-year-old and 4-year-old here. Best day of the holiday. About €10 each to get in, which takes about 1 hour to explore and 30mins play at the end. But there is lots of extras to get. We spent the extra £5 each to explore the science area. Which was well worth it and we spend another hour in here. The dinosaures were amazing. The hospital tour was good. The kids had a great time. Well worth a visit.
Our son enjoyed the park, specially the doctor animation that was really nice. We did the cinema 5D where the first part was a bit out of context and the second part scared or 3 years old son. I would recommend this for kids at least 5 years old (?) It was calm, not many people, don’t need to book on the internet there was no queue at all
We went during the morning with two kids (5,3 yo). They enjoyed it, we were there almost 3 hours. There are different activities that are available with no extra money (guess who? Puzzles, excavations, dinosaur hospital, playground). There are benches to sit and even some shade from the trees. At the end, we bought a pizza (tasting) from the restaurant and some games for the kids from the souvenir shop. The staff was friendly.
Was something to do to n our last day, the staff were very friendly and accommodating with there packages and our time scales. The VR was a bit of a disappointment, don’t bother with the space one nothing happens, the Minecraft rollercoaster was a bit better. The 5D cinema was quite good
Spent the day here with my son and had the best time. There is so much to do! A dinosaur museum, the floor is lava, animatronic dinosaurs, a dinosaur hospital, science museum, planetarium, 5D cinema, VR experience. All the staff were friendly and helpful, and great food. Highly recommend.
