We loved to be there. Andrea was our guide, and She was amazing. She told and showed us everything around, She was super kind. The tastings at the end of the tour was also great. They have a little shop inside to buy ham, sausages etc. The view and the air is fantastic. This place is very recommended by us , we all enjoyed it so much!

It is a wonderful place to visit. Someone recommends this place when we go to Zotter Schokolade. Since we go during the off-peak season, there is no English tour. They still welcome us and let us visit on our own. The piggy is cute, and we try small-tasting plates. It is so delicious that we bought some to take home. However, there is a pack of ham that stinks. We ask for a refund or replacement, and they replace it for us, even with some salami. I love this place so much that we will definitely visit it again before leaving Austria.

We visited this manufactory for a guided tour and for a visit to the shop. Outside there is plenty of car parking space and the place is easily accessible. We were surprised by the size and the amount of tourists at the place, as we had somehow expected a smaller and more traditional spot. The tour itself consists of a cute animated video, featuring Vulcana, a piglet, that explains the origin story of Franz and Bettina and what makes their products so special. After the video, you get to see an example pigsty in which the pigs do have plenty of space and a few tools to scratch their backs. For the small piglets, you are even allowed to touch them. At the end, you can exchange a token that you received as part of the tour for a plate of different slices of ham/bacon. It was very interesting to sample the differences in quality levels and production methods and this helped making informed decisions what to buy in the shop. Overall, we enjoyed the tour and the tasting and we did bring home a few items. And some bits and pieces from the dialogue of the animated video became running gags fur my wife and me :) When we're back in Styria, we will definitely have some more Vulcana ham!
