This place is absolutely magical! The staff is friendly and patiently explains everything. The wines were all so delicious — it was honestly hard to choose a favorite. The food was excellent and full of flavor. The only downside was the heat, which was a bit uncomfortable. But if you come when it’s not during peak heat, it’s highly recommended!
I hope my review reaches you on time, unknown passenger. Because if you love wine, inspiring origin stories you’ll probably enjoy their (free) tour. The winery founder was born in the house that’s still in the yard in 1943. He and his siblings were sent to America to find a better life due to their parents’ inability to take care of them. Fast forward few decades, the owner became schooled business person who decided to invest in long-left-behind home and open the winery. I cut the story enough to spark an interest in visiting them so you can hear the full version (more details and emotions). The tour takes you from origin place and story to new winery where you’ll be shown the steps in their processes of making their wines. In the end you’ll be tasting 5 different wines (2 white and 3 red - unless they change something in the meantime :)) and order the food from the menu. Price: - tour: free - tasting 15€ - food: average restaurant prices Note re booking: we booked the time for tour one day ahead. Not sure if possible with shorter term. Our cost: - tour - tasting - 2 orange cakes - t-shirt and apron from their store = 120€
Our main activity for the day is actually ring making! Not only that, ring making while sipping wines from Manousakis Winery! The first order of the day was actually the introduction to our first wine – FUMM (Fantastic Uber Majestic Masterpiece). An easy to drink white wine that is unoaked with the label designing by the the owner herself. After taking our first sip, we went straight into the the creation of the casting mold. Prior to our arrival, Wesley had already packed one side of the cast with sand-casting clay. Still, we had to pack the other side and push the mold of the ring into the clay. Since we were doing the 2mm ring, about 1mm was to pressed into the clay... (in blog) For lunch, we were served broad beans, stewed beef with rice smothered with goat’s cheese and a traditional Greek salad. Wines accompanied our meal as well. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. But more importantly, we loved the conversations and humour of Wesley! If you’re on the island of Crete, don’t forget to try out this amazing ring making activity with Wesley at Manousakis Winery! We had a lovely time visiting Manousakis Winery. We reserved for the tour and wine tasting and during these, the hosts were very knowledgeable of the various wines and kind to any questions that were asked. Our favorite wines from those we tasted were the Nastos Blend, but we also really enjoyed Alexandria and the Rosé. We stayed for dinner, which we recommend to any visiting. The lamb was extremely tender and you even have the option to buy a bottle of wine and bring it home if you don’t finish it! Finally, as a small plus the design of the winery was beautiful and we really enjoyed the personal artistic touches (be it on the labels or the ceramics sold inside) of the owner Alexandria. Would recommend to anyone looking for a lovely wine tasting experience in Crete! :)
Great spot for a tasting and lunch close to Chania. Popular spot so definitely have a reservation. We ate lunch here and the food was very good. We tried 3 different wine visits in the Chania area and I thought the wines here were the best. The grounds of the winery are lovely and a great place to spend the afternoon. The only negative is that the service was a bit unfriendly at times. I attribute this to them being a bit understaffed and the place is very popular.
Lovely winery with great quiet atmosphere, food and wine. Mariana the waitress was so kind and professional we really recommend this place.
Great winery tour. Pretty drive out to the winery. Nice, informative, short, but thorough tour. You get 4 wines to taste. The pours are much heavier than any tasting that I have every done so that was a treat. They also have a small menu to order from. The fava was nice. Staff was all kind, helpful, and informative. Worth the money. Good experience
Manousakis Winery was absolutely beautiful. We did the wine tasting and tour and thoroughly enjoyed exploring the stunning grounds on a sunny November day. It’s a must-visit if you’re interested in wine, or even if you simply want a relaxing day out with a lovely lunch or a glass of wine in a gorgeous setting. A big thank you to the entire team for their warm hospitality and for explaining everything so clearly and engagingly during the tour. A wonderful experience that I would highly recommend!

This museum is charming and the family literally live here. Opening times were a bit of a lottery but we were welcomed in and given an ice cold drink. Entry was only €2 per person. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
Beautiful and welcoming, we got to visit though it was when closed, they made an exception for us.
It’s wasn’t open when we visited last week which means mid May/ Even though it’s was supposed to be open !
We were showing around by the owner himself. We learned a lot about olive oil making in Creton villages long ago. Thank you, Constantinos!
Met the owner while here. He spoke to us about the olive oil making process. The farm he has, has been in his family for years. Very cute little museum, really enjoyed it! It’s free but we left a donation as we enjoyed it
Also met the owner who explained so much about olives, harvest, oil types etc. We just turned up and he happened to be thre. Very friendly. Hidden gem. Thank you.
Not open when we visited (July 2023), and the phone number didn’t work. No listed opening times – definitely don’t make a special trip for this!
The olive tree is amazing to see. The little museum rooms were great too.
