Before that lovely museum i have visited couple similar museums in different countries. In every country has own unique rural architecture. So it is in Austria. Intresting is walk through different villages and watch buildings. In this museum has more watermills. So water was important. Good for walking. Near museum is parking and rail station.
A full day trip. Nicely maintained area. Freely accessible houses with a demonstration of the life of the original inhabitants. On-site restaurant with great food.
It's an absolute highlight! We spent the entire day in this wonderfully arranged museum. There's so much to see; every house has a beautifully and thoughtfully curated interior. It's definitely worth a visit!
An excellent museum showcasing the various regions in Austria. It is on a small gradient, for the route up. With good facilties and an excellent restaurant. As is the norm, it is all in German. The leaflet in English gives you an overview and you can use Google translate on the rest.
A nice open air museum about Austrian culture and history. There are buildings of homes, schools, Barns, bakeries, stables etc. from all the lands of Austria. They rebuilt these buildings inside this open air museum. Really informing but it would be much better with English translations since internet signal is very weak if there is. We visited this place in april during an Easter market. I really liked the concept, freshly baked bread was amazing. As I understand, they arrange other events such as christmas markets. We spent around 3.5 hours here.
Well kept, clean and interesting place. The staff at the counter is also very friendly and guide you well. A potential improvement could be that the printed map that they give out is improved. Currently, it doesn't have labels for all buildings and its tough to figure out where you are. The Internet and subsequently Google translate do not work here.
If you visit this wonderful place bear Graz, make sure you have all day free.
I was in Skansen which has a similiar athmosphere in Stockholm. That was much better! The biggest problem is everything is in German. But German is not the universal language you know. We want English descriptions. So I could not understand anything.
