I read some negative reviews about this location, undeserved in my opinion. We visited on a beautiful day, went into the church, enjoyed great service and a cup of tea before strolling around one of the external walks. We enjoyed the peace and tranquil beauty of it all. Good luck to you all for the future.
An idyllic, peaceful location for walking, lunch, and a guided tour of the castle. There's also a lovely souvenir shop and restaurant. Romantics will find plenty to enjoy here, even now that the castle is covered in scaffolding.
Well worth the visit to see the rooms inside and it's history. The facades is being repaired, so it is covered and has a temporary roof over the top. Guided tour only (in French) but do have booklets in other languages available
Full external renovation nearly complete The facade showing in the picture is a cloth reproduction. Interior is brilliantly decorated bringing history to light. If you are interested in Hot Air Balloons there is a dedicated Museum too.
The castle exterior is being renovated so is hidden by scaffolding. The picture on the front of the scaffolding looks nice 🙂 We did not visit the inside of the castle, we did visit the hot air balloon museum which was very good. The museum was in French & English. The cafe was nice too.
We visited with our dog and were made to feel very welcome by the staff who spoke exceptional English. They were very knowledgeable and we walked around the chateau gardens. We watched a film about how the hot air balloon was invented and looked at the attached museum about the hot-air balloons, which was all very interesting.
Beautiful! It's just a shame our visit coincided with the renovation work to the exterior of the château so the whole place was covered. The guided tour of the interior was interesting. The grounds are pleasant and peaceful; it's worth doing the red or blue walk. The balloon museum is informative. The enclosed, formal garden is delightful, but needs a good weeding and tidy up, and I'd love to see what was probably a large, walled kitchen garden restored (just my sort of thing!) The shop is good too. All the staff were very friendly and eager to help. Well worth a visit if you like this sort of thing.
Some gateau at the chateau ... beautiful place owned by Forbes family and luckily they keep it open for wonderful tours... a definite must see. Informative guides who are kind and friendly and have the option to do in English. The cafe and grounds are a must to explore. You are not allowed to take pics inside because they want to keep it private, which is understandable.
