Picturesque Irish island that's accessible on foot at low tide & home to religious ruins.

Beautiful tidal island with beaches, views, old houses, ancient church and perfect for snorkelling/ swimming. Amazing feature is the tide closes over the strand and makes an inaccessible Island for a few hours and retreats back out again.
Very nice place. Don't forget to check the tide schedule.
Didn’t want to go initially but it was actually a really nice experience. You can only get on the island when the tide is low. We drove on the strip of sand where there is a marked road. On the island there is also a lake :) and a lot of cows.
Gorgeous trek on low tide towards the old church grounds and ruins. Be sure to check out the tides timings. We were lucky enough to immediately park on-site (free) and trek till the end. You could see some of the other visitors driving all the way (pathway is all marked) and parking on the other side. When we were done we had to hurry as we could see the tide rising up from the ocean and the water level creeps up if you're not careful. Clean and beautiful sand dunes, with kelp/algae forest patches and the markings done by crabs/fish as well as the the waves on the sandy dunes. Worth the wait and trek if you're here.
Little island off the west coast of Connemara. Can only get over by foot or car when the tide is out - time your visit wisely!
Access only at low water, you can drive on the compact sand, or walk, preferably I drove as I wanted to have plenty of time to see the Island, always check time of tides locally as you can easily forget the time as there is so much to see & enjoy there, please don’t forget about the tide coming back in or you will have to wait for the next tide to get off the island
Rugged, windy, wild and beautiful. Park by the beach then it's a 600m walk across the wet sand out to the island. It's absolutely vital to check the tide times (they are displayed in the car park if you haven't looked them up on the web in advance). Recommend that you ignore the road when you get across to the island, turn right past the graveyard and continue along the coast for the best part of an hour until you finally see some houses. They are on the paved road. Turn left on to the road which will go back to the beach and the route back to the mainland. Well worth the visit of you are up for a slightly challenging walk.
Great visit , be sure to check out the tides
