One of my absolute favorite parts of our 10 day trip to Ireland! Took a day trip out of Galway to tour DK Connemara, drive the sky road and have lunch at Ballynahinch castle. This tour was incredibly informative, we learned so much about oysters! Got to see and hear about the entire life cycle of oysters on the farm from start to finish. Our tour guide was very welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful with accommodating questions. We finished the tour off shucking our own oysters which were some of the best I’ve ever had! Briny and fresh from the beautiful waters surrounding Connemara National Park. Highly recommend this tour for anyone that enjoys oysters and wants to see the beautiful countryside around Galway.
We visited DK Oysters in Connemara last week and had an absolutely fantastic experience. Our guide/owner Christina was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging. Before this, I knew nothing about how oysters are grown or their life cycle, but she explained the entire process in detail, from start to finish, in a way that was easy to understand and genuinely fascinating. The tour lasted about two hours, and Christina showed us every step involved. It was such an eye-opening look into something I’d never thought much about before. We finished with an oyster tasting, which was the perfect ending to the visit. Special mention goes to Molly, the resident Labrador receptionist, who was easily the sweetest (and most enthusiastic) greeter we could have hoped for. Highly recommend if you’re anywhere near Connemara—this is a must-do!
Our EF Tour group visited Connemara Oysters in March 2025. What an amazing experience. It was raining and they graciously allowed people to stay inside if they preferred. However, the "inside" group received as much information and education as the "outside" group. I learned so much about oyster farming. Everyone was informative and kind. I tried an oyster for the first time! The experience was everything you could have wanted. If you can I suggest you visit DK Connemara Oysters!!
David. Pia, and Christina were amazing hosts on our Agriculture experience. We learned the who, the why, and the how. The interactive STEM activity was so much fun and brought the group together. What a wonderful learning experience. And what a great lesson about overcoming any type of obstacles. “I Can and I Will”! Thank you!
Fantastic tour, beautiful scenery & amazing oysters! We loved our experience at DK Connemara Oysters - the tour was comprehensive, very interesting and interactive. Learning to shuck the oysters, doing it ourselves and tasting them was a great way to end the tour too. This is definitely one of the top ‘things to do’ while visiting Connemara
David who does the tour around the Oyster Land explained the whole process and I found so interesting about how they grow the Oysters, its origin, and so many more information and curiosity that you only learn when you go to visit places like that. I learned so much and left there with the satisfaction of being one person that not only seats in a restaurant to have some oysters, but you know how they ended up in your plate, and you can savor it. You will have the freshest Oyster in your life when comes to the tasting part, and I felt in love, it’s really a unique and memorable experience.
Had an excellent tour and tasting with Christine. Learned so much about oyster farming, the evolution of their business and got to enjoy their beautiful location. Definitely worth a visit!
We had a tour at the oyster farm and it was super interesting. Learned a lot about the cultivation of oysters, how they are grown here at Connemara and off course we could taste them afterwards. Highly recommend on going here when you are staying in the area!
