Sonam Lakpa Sherpa is a legend . His museum is fabulous , a work of love. The photo gallery is a vivid glimpse into the almost hallucinogenic Tibetan buddhist world. The Sherpa came from Tibet to settle in the "Beyul" , or hidden paradise, of the Khumbu. Sonam lost his hearing aged 10 to meningioma. Edmund Hilary arranged his trip to St George's Hospital London to try to restore it for him. Sadly he is still profoundly deaf but this didn't stop him. He's built an whole authentic Tibetan home which brings to life every book you've read on Tibetan life. We have Sonam's Kongde panoramic photograph on our wall in England (every panoramic you see in Kathmandu and Lukla Airport was shot by Sonam) and look forward to seeing that view ourselves one day soon. We've visited Kumjung but not Kongde. I really hope we can visit again soon, see what he's done with the new museum he was building last time we were there. What a guy and an unmissable museum. 2 nights in Namche are essential for acclimatisation, preferably 3 nights if you can, so go visit while you're there.
The Sherpa Culture Museum in Namche Bazaar is a must-visit if you're trekking to Everest Base Camp. It offers a fascinating glimpse into the rich history, lifestyle, and traditions of the Sherpa people. The displays are well-organised, with traditional clothing, tools, photographs, and even a model of a traditional Sherpa home. The museum also provides great educational insight into mountaineering history and the role Sherpas have played in Himalayan expeditions. There’s also a viewpoint nearby with a stunning panoramic view of Namche and surrounding peaks—including Everest on a clear day! A great cultural stop to better appreciate the people and heritage of the Khumbu region. Definitely worth the visit!
I love everything about this place. Words are few to describe this. You can learn many things in this museum.
The Sherpa Cultural Museum offers insights into both the diverse Himalayan gems and the long-standing challenges faced by the Sherpa community in these mountains, with a specific focus on this connection within the museum's exhibits.
Interesting history of the region and Everest itself with its many climbers to make the summit showcased in the museum
Nice collection of history and sherpa life. Worth to visit and support
Located just beside Sagarmatha National Park Head Quarter, 100 mtr above from namche bazaar, nepal
November 2022 was the first time I visited the Museum even though I had been in the region a couple of times before. The level of documentation curator Lhakpa Sonam Sherpa has done over the years of the culture, and landscape of the region is commendable. A visit to the museum helped me understand the history and culture even more through his photography and the display of Sherpa artifacts. The museum also showcases in-depth the history of mountaineering in the Everest region. Without a doubt, a must-visit place for everyone who is coming to the Everest region.

Great atmosphere, drinks, popcorn, shisha and films. Recommend the mint shisha and the hot rum/whiskey cocktails. Must visit one of the highest bars in the world to come at 7:30 for the nightly mountaineering documentaries
Very cosy bar nestled in Namche, super friendly owner and a lovely vibe! They have a collection of Everest and films and documentary’s that they have on at 3pm and 7:30pm.
Probably my favorite bar in Namche the staff was really nice and the ambiance inside was so cool. It was dark and neon like a dive bar, but all of the decor let you know this was far from the typical dive bar. They had a TV in the corner playing movies, and when I visited they had the 2014 Everest documentary on which really put the trek in perspective. The vibe here was perfect. Would highly recommend you stopping here on your way back down from EBC (or wherever you’re trekking back from)
I really loved the service, food and specially the drinks over here. The staffs are very nice and friendly. I loved the atmosphere i was staying, listening to the music and having fun drinking with my friends. They also play documentary movie related to everest and we can choose it ourselves. I specially loved the draft beer which i recommend to the people who love drinking beer. It is nice place to hang out with your friends having foods and drinks. The atmosphere in the bar is cozy and warm. They also have indoor games to entertain ourselves. I would love to visit it again next time when I come to namche Bazar. Me and my friends are very thankful to the liquid bar for giving us such a great hospitality. I strongly recommend to visit liquid bar when you are in Namche Bazar as it's services are really of the best.
I'm a visit this place whenever I am in Namche. This bar offers a cozy place for trekkers to chill and get a few drinks. The varieties of cocktails was also a nice addition. I was also surprised that I could watch premier league football here. Must visit if you are at Namche.
The place was really excellent with all the decorations and the staff was really helpful, they did their best to make our experience great! I recommend this place as a must go bar when you're at Namche !
