Despina gave us the best winery tour of their aged fermenting rooms, wine tasting, and oil tasting ever! We strongly recommend taking a leisurely afternoon at Dourakis Winery! Beyond any expectations had! Food was enjoyable and paired well with the many wines. We felt so welcomed! We hope to visit again or at least order their wines from abroad. 💗
We visited Dourakis Winery with high expectations, but unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish. The place presents itself as elegant and prestigious, yet what we encountered was the exact opposite of professional hospitality. From the moment we walked in, we were completely ignored. The staff seemed entirely focused on a German tour group, and it was as if independent visitors simply did not exist. Nobody welcomed us, nobody asked if we wanted to taste wines or even offered a glass of water. For a winery that claims to value guests, this behavior was rude and unacceptable. Equally shocking was the condition of the parking lot. Instead of a paved surface that matches the image of a “high-class” winery, there is nothing but loose stones and dust. Anyone arriving with a sports car or a well-maintained vehicle should be prepared to leave with it dirty and scratched. This is not just inconvenient, it shows a complete lack of respect for visitors and their property. In short, this winery cares only about big groups that bring easy money, while individual visitors are treated like a nuisance. The combination of arrogance, indifference, and poor facilities makes it very hard to recommend this place to anyone. There are plenty of wineries in Crete where you will be welcomed warmly and treated with respect — sadly, Dourakis is not one of them.
A quiet afternoon here is pure bliss. The service is impeccable, and the wine is absolutely delightful. We visited for our honeymoon, and our host made it extra special with a personalized wedding wine and champagne. To our surprise, the entire patio raised a toast to us—a truly unforgettable gesture. Every staff member we encountered was warm and welcoming, and the property itself is stunning. This is the perfect place for a relaxing and memorable experience—you won’t want to miss it!
A beautiful and peaceful setting and the wine was delicious. We arrived just before noon on a Sunday. There was only 1 other table with guests. We did not have reservations. We were informed that they were expecting many guests and were full with reservations but made an exception to give us a table for a quick bite and a glass of wine. I had the cheese plate and hubby had the stuffed tomatoe and pepper dish. Both were delicious. Highly recommend but make a reservation!
This was my first time in a winery on August. Nice place even not too big. The place was quite busy on time we went about 2pm and luckily we got a table a bit more far away from other quests which was really nice since we value a bit more own space.🙏 Person who served food wasn't too nice but did her work well. In the other hand person who served us wines was so kind even she was clearly very busy. She made our stay in this place! Eggplant dip was so delicious and wines were really tasteful! 🍷🥂 White wines were our favourites even we have liked usually more red wines. That was pleasant suprise! 😊 Signature tasting is 15€ for 5 wines. We took it and liked that very much!
Absolutely amazing experience here! Despina took great care of us and was extremely knowledgeable on the wines and the winery. Food was fantastic. The views and property are incredible. Would definitely recommend coming out here while in Crete.
Dourakis Winery Cooking Class My brother and I had such a wonderful experience with Mrs. Olga! Her passion for cooking and teaching really shines through in everything she does. We are so glad we decided to take her class, it was fun, informative, and truly exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed it so much that we told a couple we met on one of our tours about it, and they ended up joining the class the very next day! The wine selection was also incredible. We had the opportunity to taste several different varieties during the class, and yes, we brought a few bottles back home to Wisconsin. The hospitality at Dourakis Winery was absolutely outstanding. Highly recommend this experience!
Fantastic tour, super informative. Gorgeous place, met some lovely people - especially Lana from Michigan! Wine was divine. Highly recommend. We were there a few hours. Jo and Eric ( from UK / Netherlands )
