Absolutely amazing! Not too many people due to limited parking, and the scenery is unique. It’s dog friendly and our dog had a blast! There aren’t any trash cans anywhere by the beach or on the trails so bring a trash bag to put away your trash. There is a trash/recycling bin in the parking area
Wide sandy beach. Beautiful sate park. We found a lot of sand dollars and a few sharks teeth.
An incredibly beautiful Beach and one of the best I've visited. Having visited beaches in Costa Rica and Antigua, this is up with the best of them. Due to a tornado many years ago, it gives the beach a unique tropical look, mixed in with an abundance of wildlife this is a must see in south Carolina.
We walked the Maeitime Forest Trail from the last parking area to the Nature Center this visit. About 2 miles one way. Then went over to Boneyatd Beach. We love this state park. The beach is great. Nice and wide at low tide. A great place for a beach day. The Nature Center and pier are definite must sees. Lots of dolphins play around in the area.
Beautifully kept campground, pristine and quiet beaches, bike and hiking trails through the maritime forests and marshes, nature center and fishing pier.
Fabulous place. Gorgeous beach, lots of wildlife, nice lighthouse. We had a great day!
It has been a tradition of my family for as long as I can remember. I literally grew up here. Although this beach isn't my favorite, there's always heavy nostalgia every time I return. Our recent visit was for a pop up family gathering and a continued celebration of moms bday.
Beautiful park! The history of the lighthouse is amazing. Cute playground for kids to play on. The marsh walk was easy & lots of birds. The boneyard was amazing! So beautiful! A bit of a walk from the pier parking lot, but well worth it.

Park
Nature & Parks
Celebrated riverfront park providing landscaped green space, a playground & stage for performances.
Slide 1 of 8
Great place for a stroll in the evening. There are swings along the waterfront overlooking the water that helps keep the pace slower. You can get a bite to eat or do a bit of on the street side. Occasionally music or festivals can be had here. There is a great playground for the kids both little and older.
The park was very beautiful and handy to the restaurants and shops. You could have the view from the waterfront and the marina. Unfortunately the walkway by the waterfront was closed. Apparently there's some safety issues there with washout or something so you couldn't walk right against the edge. Even so, the park still had a lot of space and beautiful trees and flowers. So it was still a nice little walk and there were public restrooms in one section. So that was nice to have available as well.
Inviting, friendly, very clean, extremely relaxing. I went to the Lowcountry Music Festival 6/7/25. Good variety of music, plenty of space to relax. Many food vendors, watch the boats sail away, eat, drinks, a few officers in view. Limited parking. Had to park a few blocks away from river. Many shops and little boutiques. Overall a great experience! Will visit Beaufort again!
This park offers many amenities for the young, old and in between. The kiddos gate to the slides and swings squeaks VERY ANNOYINGLY loud on purpose!!! I promise you when you hear it you're gonna think why won't they get some WD 40 for this gate. But it's an effective SAFETY feature to keep the kids safely inside the play area. There's live country music at certain times. Lots of restaurants and dessert parlors to enjoy. Many places to sit and watch the lovely boats dock while enjoying your meal. There's a parking lot, plus paid parking on the streets. If you're an athlete enthusist there's a bridge close by that crosses the river. It's available to walk or run across the bridge for extreme exercise. For those that enjoy mild exercise a walk on the parks pathways while enjoying the river breeze is very relaxing. Many benches and tables are scattered here and there in the park for those that tire quickly. Plaques and statues in the park provide historical knowledge to everyone whose interested in the culture and history of the area. A day spent here in the park will be a good day for any family. Every age group will be satisfied with this park and it's treasures.
This is a beautiful waterfront park. On this visit our grandchildren enjoyed the swings and water views. We also saw the Dragonboat Races - which was fun. Great playground for kids and restrooms.
This park has easy parking, a beautiful view, and a lovely playground for kids. Plus, local eateries are closed by if you get famished. Great for picnics, dates, and cute photos.
Great little park with free parking. Large grass area, benches, tree swings. This park has lots of shade. It is right on the water, and there is a public boat dock. Also clean restrooms.
Great little area to go for a walk. There is multiple restaurants to pick from if you want a bite to eat with great views. The restaurant I went to allowed my dog to come with me. The only thing that bummed me out is the walkway closest to the water was blocked off this time.

Nice place. Usually quiet. It has been a long time since I have been back here, they recentlyadded to the mesuem. It is still very serene.
The area was really pretty. Unfortunately the lighthouse is under renovation so it was fenced off. The island and water is very enjoyable and their were showers to rinse the sand and salt water off. We even got to see an alligator in the water we were swimming in! Would you get out?!
Love this place! The drive back to the lighthouse is picturesque. Great walking beach, shells, shark teeth, coral then water to rinse your feet
Area is beautiful but the lighthouse has been under renovations for over a year, so I have yet to see it clearly or able to walk up to the top. Clean area with a lot of paths.
Very peaceful. This time is was very windy but plenty of Sun and a great place to camp also.
Very pretty. We were a bit disappointed because it was closed when we arrived. It was under construction.
Wonderful beaches -- miles to walk along peace and quiet.
A beautiful lighthouse next to a very gorgeous beach. Yeah, you couldn't go in but I was still happy to see it.

I have family members buried at this church, so it's always nice to visit when I'm in the area. It's very beautiful and peaceful as well as historical.
Beautiful! They had a docent on duty who was lovely! She was able to tell us about the history of the church as well as some of the noteable people buried there. A great free activity!
A visit to Beaufort would not be complete without walking through the Episcopal Church graveyard.
Welcoming, warm and wonderful! Found this biblically sound church home after moving to the area. Wednesday at St. Helena (WASH) is a great way to dip your toes in the water.
Beautiful church! Fun to look at the old grave stones
Very active church. Lots of ministry for various ages. Rector is a good preacher. Unfortunately the clerical leadership in the Anglican Church isn’t inclusive.
Great old cemetery with great world history.
I would like to thank the gentleman that gave my wife and I a tour through the cemetery. I can't recall his name but he was from the Rochester NY vicinity. He was very kind and knowledgeable regarding the cemetery and church history. He took his time and answered any questions we had, all on his own time. He is definitely an asset to the church and the city of Beaufort. THANK YOU NERY MUCH SIR.!!!

The Martyrs of the Race Course, the initial Memorial Day resting place, is located in the Clubhouse at the Charlestown race track in Charleston, South Carolina. Beaufort National Cemetery serves as the final resting place for approximately 170 men known as the Charleston Dead, from the 54th and 55th Infantry regiments.
We attended the Vietnam Veterans Ceremony today. The Marine Corps Band was there. It was well done event — thank you.
Note: we do not have loved ones buried here. This review is only based on a visit to the Beaufort national Cemetery in Beaufort South Carolina. After driving around this national Cemetery, we decided it has to be one of the prettiest locations. It is August and the lush green foliage Spanish moss, and garden like setting puts this cemetery at the top of our list in terms of natural beauty. We know nothing about the policies here just the beautiful vibe it show it’s visiters. right now, I can appreciate the gardener who works diligently to keep this national cemetery looking so well manicured.
It is a place of honor it is well-kept but yet it's sad to be there at the same time
Perfect. Close-clipped grass, headstones all perfectly aligned, no litter, no fallen tree limbs. This cemetery is a tribute to those who fought and died for our country. I was here to visit the final resting place of Colonel Donald Conroy. You might know him as the character played by Robert Duval in the movie The Great Santini. If you're looking for it, it's in Section 62, which is all the way to the back, two sections to the left of center.
If you are planning to visit Beaufort South Carolina. I highly recommend visiting the Beaufort National Cemetery located on Boundary Street. I personally have visited the Beaufort National Cemetery on quite a few occasions. I have often visited on Memorial Day to pay my respects to the Military Veterans who paid the Ultimate Sacrifice for the United States Of America. The Beaufort National Cemetery is well looked after. It reminded me of Arlington National Cemetery but obviously on a smaller scale. If you love history or a Military History buff I recommend visiting here. Very Quite due to it being located off the main road into Beaufort. There are many events held here at the Cemetery through out the year. Be sure to check the local news outlets for information.
Beautiful Place. All the symbolic patriotism. The scenery is just so nice. This was walking distance from my hotel. Make sure you stop by to take it all in.
My wife & I visited the Beaufort National Cemetery and found it very nicely laid out and well maintained. The custodian was very helpful. Because this is a military cemetery the graves are, of course, very uniform; however, on the "back" of many you can find some good quotes, such as "Did it my way" and "Gone Fishing", as well as one which said "Gone to Hell". G.I.'s & soldiers have such a sense of humor, and I am for some the quote were not ones they chose - instead they were chose for them either randomly by some V.A. official, or family to best represent the soldier. Expect very hot and muggy conditions from late spring to late fall, and DO bring mosquito repellent as the beautiful live oaks pretty much stifle any breeze. Also take a wander outside the cemetery & patrol the perimeter to find some wonderful examples of old Southern architecture. Across the street facing the cemetery in a little neck of woods is another old cemetery, not very well maintained, if maintained at all. A civilian construction, it is well worth the photo hound's or gravestone rubbing enthusiast.

Biking Trails

Beautiful biking and walking trail. There are lots of historic signs to read and learn about the area's history. Free to park. The bathrooms are either port-a-johns or gas station bathrooms. We did an end to end round trip on peddle assisted bikes.
Always nice to walk or cycle here. It’s pleasant, clean, and safe.
Not a trail for the soft bladder haver. Trail was invented during the dawn of the toilet. The planners said there was no way that a public porcelain throne would catch on. There were trash cans, dog bags, and water fountains often enough along the route. Trail is mostly flat and straight. Some say that it has no end, and others claim that it’s about 10.5 miles from end to end. Trail has moderate traffic during the day with houses on either side along most of it. The southern end has a lot of marsh on either side. Trail is clean and in good condition, and there are some nice views along the way.
I love it. It's a peaceful place to connect with nature & walk 🚶‍♂️ run 🏃‍♂️ or bicycle 🚲 ride. Definitely the best spot for me in Beaufort. 👍
A nice little trail. Completely flat and paved for ease of travel, it's a quick ride with benches along the way for a picnic. There are also several places with porta potties or restrooms. The best parts are near water or in tree shaded areas but the northern section runs along the main road and isn't as nice. We rented bikes from University Bikes a mile away from the train depot.
This is a great trail system! We parked at the Port Royal end and rode out and back for a 20.2 mile total. This trail is well maintained with plenty of signage along to way, including historical markers. The northern section is fairly remote so pack plenty of water or stop at the Parkers gas station that is connected to the trail. Enjoy the great lowcountry views and smooth riding.
The Spanish Moss Trail (sometimes called Beaufort Rail Trail or Magnolia Line Trail) follows the old Port Royal Railroad that was built in 1870. The planned 13.6-mile scenic route will cross Beaufort County between Port Royal and Yemassee. Parking can be found along the east side of the trail at the Technical College of the Lowcountry (921 Ribaut Road). Along the southern half of the trail, there are three parking areas available: Broome Lane, Westvine Drive and Ribaut Road.

This is a wonderful place to visit if you are a Pat Conroy fan. The volunteers are very friendly and carry an immense amount of knowledge about Pat Conroy life and his works. We did a full tour of the center as well as visiting the resting places of both Pat and his father “The Great Santini”.
Conroy found the Pat Conroy Literary Center amazing and fantastic. Five out of five paws, will visit so mommy can talk to other Pat Conroy fanatics again very soon. She loves this place, has been many times.
I organized a solo trip (a pilgrimage really) from Utah to Beaufort, SC just to visit the literary center. Susie was the highly knowledgeable docent who walked me through all of the wonderful memorabilia and highlights of Pat Conroy’s life and career. What a beautiful way to memorialize one of the true southern greats. Don’t miss your chance to experience it if you’re in the lowcountry.
What a little gem in Beaufort! First time visiting this legacy to Pat Conroy’s life, work, passions and loves. Everything from his Citadel days to his early teaching years to his writing career. His desk and chair and yellow legal pad are here, as are his Citadel cover, and the quilt made by his sister that tells the story of his life in such a wonderful way. The two ladies working today were kind, helpful, and had such a great knowledge of Mr. Conroy and his life and times. Check out the bookstore for hats, tees, books and other goodies. A great place to spend an hour or more next time you’re in Beaufort!
Well worth a stop! Even if you are not familiar with Pat Conroy’s books, you will learn so much about Beaufort, the Citadel, and how fully experiencing life can creat a great writer. Also plenty of memorabilia from several films made from his books. Staff is very knowledgeable. Make sure you ask about the pants in the shadow box. Great story. Thank you Jonathan, for an amazing tour!
Who can resist taking a selfie at the desk where some of the greatest books in American literature have been written (by hand) while sitting in Pat Conroy's chair? There's much more to this gem of a center in the endlessly charming city of Beaufort, SC. His sister Kathy was in charge the day we went making it extra special. You'll come away knowing PC much better and wanting to read or re-read his books. I bought yet another copy of THE WATER IS WIDE to give away. I thrilled at the handwritten letter he wrote his parents after his first day in charge of teaching the illiterate Gullah children. You'll laugh at where THE GREAT SANTINI movie poster has been placed. After, stroll around downtown Beaufort's waterfront and soak up the tumultuous history unimaginable in such a serene setting.
This place is wonderful and a must see stop whether you have read his books yet or not

You can't miss the Beaufort Museum docent-led tour at the aresenal. Tom Kelley led our tour, filled with rich historical details and some dramatic stories. He certainly knows his stuff and even showed us some great places to eat during our visit. We much improved our American history knowledge after this tour.
Very solid, small museam that does a great job showing the depth of local history.
Great museum. It kept us captivated with the history of Beaufort and the surrounding areas. The exhibition is cool. The lady in charge in the was super nice. She let us know more places to visit and gave us brochures too. Definitely recommended.
A truly entertaining and educational experience. The history of Beaufort SC is a surprising wake up to valuable truths about how the South reigned over the North. Without the courageous efforts by President Lincoln the outcome may have been quite different. Check out out!
For a small community museum it’s okay. We enjoyed the exhibits they do have. It feels like for the history the community has it could be more. But the docents are knowledgeable, friendly and able to make the visit memorable. We would go back again.
What a hidden gem this museum is! Our tour guide was the best. He was great with the kids and really gotten involved in the history of Beaufort, asked them questions and had their attention the entire time. They even gave them a scavenger hunt sheet they could look for as we talked. Win for a history tour for us. Visit this place!
We had a wonderful walking tour with the Ranger and his assistant!! He was very knowledgeable and we highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Beautiful Beaufort by the Bay!!!
The history museum is in a very cool location and has some good information about the local history. I would probably rate it a 4 if it wasn't for our outstanding docent, Aileen! She basically gave us a private tour through the museum and she was a wealth of knowledge. She made the experience so much more educational and enjoyable than just walking through and reading the signs. Her passion for history was contagious!

Cute lil museum. Super friendly volunteers. Lots of neat info. We did not bring kids but watched a family with 3 and they were on a scavenger hunt and having fun. Great to spend some time for free with the family.
Great family-friendly stop for the kids! We stopped in 30 minutes before closing & worker was welcoming, friendly & informative! We loved the sprinkler fin out front & the baby gators!
Amazing. I had an amazing time here. We visited during Aug/Sept and was delighted to see the babies with their mommies. I will go back and walk the rest of the board walk. Look closely and you'll find some alligators.
Very good information about the nature of this area. Nice museum, art and recycling made by children, super friendly staff and the perfect place to bring your children. Admission is free, there are bathrooms and parking.
We love this center! It’s free—though donations are appreciated. There is an art showcase, a beautiful map of the area, some history exhibits, and lots of animal exhibits and live displays. The volunteers are very kind and knowledgeable. We have attended a story time in the past and it was great as well.
Highly recommend the Kayak tour! Jessica was an excellent guide pointing out wildlife, explaining the marsh eco system and ensuring we would have a great experience and even saw dolphin! The tour is good for all ages and a great way to experience the waterways that make up the Low Country.
This was a fantastic place to visit! So much information in one little building. The volunteer was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable! We loved all the tanks with fish etc. And the dock to the sound was gorgeous and clean. Free admission (donations welcomed) with small gift shop and lots of local art.

My friend and I were in Beaufort for just a few hours. We are interested in history and architecture, so decided to look for a historic home tour. We are so glad we found the Verdier House and experienced the wonderful tour led by Liz. Not only did we learn about the beautiful old home and family, Liz also shared her wealth of knowledge about Beaufort and South Carolina history. She was an amazing tour guide. We asked a lot of questions and she took the time and had the knowledge to answer them all. Thank for a great experience!
I found the historic house to be very interesting. Probably more so than most since I'm an interior designer and love different architecture. The docents were very friendly. The tour didn't take very long. So if you're looking for something to fill about an hour, is indoors, and has historical appeal, this is the place to go.
This is a very nice house and worth the trip! Nice people work here. They are very informative and welcoming. Amazing slice of Beaufort history
I have been a homeowner & taxpayer in Beaufort county since 2018. Last week myself and my extended family from Ohio visited to possibly tour the house in the next 1/2 hour. When one of my family members was asked where he was from by one of the hosts, he responded Ohio- she responded with “Bless your heart”. Guess what? Northerners know what that means in the South- very discouraging and disappointing. Regardless, we put a good tip in the box but won’t return.
We visited this house, which survived the great fire in Beaufort when many other buildings were destroyed. We enjoyed being able to go inside to see the layout and design of the house. They are still working on being able to raise funds to complete the exterior painting. Our docent was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed our tour of the property.
Such a fun and informational place, he got there and were able to get in for a tour about 20 minutes later, the tour as well as the house was super cool. Good find to learn about the city. The people were super nice, and the tour took about an hour or a little longer. The house is very pretty, as well as the being lots of interesting old artifacts in the house. Would definitely recommend.
My sister and I took this tour. We would have loved to have taken pictures but kept to the rules not to. It was an interesting tour, about 35 minutes. The guide was so soft spoken we just could not hear some of her words. She was very nice though. It's a five star tour if you get the guide with the voice you can hear from the next floor. :)
We spent two wonderful days in Beaufort, S.C. We enjoyed our tour of this historic home and learned about its history and the history of the area. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, professional and took her time answering all our questions. It was well worth the $10 admission fee.

Oh my Goodness! If you are in Beaufort you have to set aside at least an hour to really explore this amazing shop! If you like art , old guns, history and maps from all over the world then you have to stop in. Ask for Will and get him to tell you about his family’s history in the area which dates back to before America was founded.
Very interesting family of artist show their top notch works. The carved realistic birds in their glass inclosed displays are the most amazing I've seen of this type of work! The Gallery assistant was friendly and informative on the many artistic objects to antiquities. This place is a must see in Beaufort.
Absolute best gallery in Beaufort County. The service is great too. The minute you walk in you’re greeted by one of the staff members willing to answer any questions you might have. The amount of art you see here is amazing with such a great variety of different items. 2 levels also! You can visit here every week and never get tired of it
There is so much beautiful art in this shop you don’t know where to look. Therefore, on our trip to Beaufort, we spent most of our time there. Also, enjoyed the time spent talking with Will. Learned interesting history of his family of incredible artists. This was my favorite place to visit in Beaufort.
Beautiful gallery with fascinating items, many very affordable. Family owned and operated. Don't miss it!
Beautiful gallery! If you want to find an antique map, this is the place. The owner was super friendly and knowledgable. Does an amazing job with framing too… Highly recommend!!!
Smells amazing! Amazing art! Amazing people! Amazing prices! I love it here.

Mary is such an amazing and kind person! She spoke to my son who is a budding artist and compliment his drawing. I am very much looking forward to framing the piece I purchased and hanging it up in my office.
Gallery owners were two of the displaying artists and very gracious hosts. The gallery had a variety of artists, using multiple mediums, including: water colors, oils, metal, paper, and glass. The reclaimed metal and driftwood sailboats, and painted paper mache sculptures of marine life subjects, were particulary unique and attractive artwork. Well worth a visit by those with contemporary art interest.
Mary is amazing. She was very friendly and recommended places to visit while we vacation in beautiful Beaufort. I love the pieces of art work I purchased by her and look forward to hanging them in my home. They'll always be a reminder of our time spent in this amazing place. Thanks Mary!
Although the artwork in this gallery is well worth viewing, it's the husband and wife team that makes the place resonate with goodness. They are kind and dedicated to helping sponsor the outstanding and gorgeous work of local artists. For example, they are currently exhibiting the stunning work of an aspiring and outstanding high school student. Visitors will enjoy feasting their eyes upon works in oil, acrylic, pen and ink, glass, and even recycled palm fronds. Every piece of art is a delight to behold. What makes a visit here even more enriching is a pleasant conversation with Mr. and Mrs. Thibault who are helpful and rich sources of information concerning creativity and creative people in the Beaufort area.
When you walk into Thibault Gallery it feels like you're walking into a friend's house. Mary and Eric warmly greet you as you walk through the door, and the customer service is the best I've ever seen. The artists that are show cased are very talented and their work is incredible. Every time I want to redecorate my house my first stop is always Thibault Gallery, and I think yours should be too. :)
A favorite place to visit on Bay St. I live to visit Mary and Eric and often find an item I absolutely must buy. I was a vendor for the black mermaid event last week. The center is a beautiful structure. The event was awesome, and the vendors were all so talented!
USCB is a beautiful campus, very well maintained and clean. Their 2025 graduation ceremony was organized and efficient.
Attended the Black Mermaid exhibit at the USCB Center for the Arts. It was amazing.
So glad to have seen the show. We saw this many years ago up in Chicago also performed by community players. This was just as good if not better, and the singing was absolutely wonderful. Strong voices, good harmony. The “adult kids” on the stage really seemed to enjoy what they were doing.
Really good presentation. Nice venue. Chairs are good vs some other places. Leader, piano player is very talented and grows on you. Just a real nice night out every 6 weeks. 5:00 to 7:00 then time to go out for a bit of cool aid b4 home.
Saw The Sound of Music this afternoon. It was one of the best live performances I've ever seen. Anna Booman was incredible as Maria but the entire cast was outstanding. Well worth seeing.
Very safe and clean, with helpful smiling people and high Quality entertainment. 👏💃🕺🧜🌹🍷🎭🎨🖼🎤🎺🎷🎶🥿
The outside space was comfortable under many trees with a nice breeze. No obstructed views and sound was very good. The only drawback was the walk to the restroom which was up several concrete steps inside the building, and down a corridor.

I was prayed over here when I was one. Such a great visit with the family to see it as an adult. Also, the Harriet Tubman statue is phenomenal
I haven't had the pleasure of going to service here, but was able to spend time with Rev. Hodges. If you want rich history of Beaufort and Gullah Geechee History Rev. Hodges is the man to see. We had the pleasure to spend a good amount of time with him and he gave us an amazing history lesson on the area!!
I have been a member of this church for 20 years. I have enjoyed every minute of it. Rev. Kenneth F. Hodges has been its Spiritual Leader for over 25 years. I have not been disappointed. Congregation has gotten smaller because of children who have grown up moved away and some members have gone on to glory. You will never feel the same after a Sunday Service.
I've never been here, but inspired by the statue of Mr. Smalls in an age of handouts and enabling people instead of people just putting forth effort and hard work. I wish I could have met him.
This is my church and I love going there. I started going there when I used to take Mrs.Theresa Gantt and I fell in love with it,I got Baptized, sang and now just a member
Very friendly to 1st time visitors. Spiritual worship service and have an excellent choir.
The perfect place for remembering Robert Smalls
This church is beautiful and the play was awesome
